I love this spot and it still holds a soft spot in my heart. From great live music and events, to beer, cocktails and of course the mead! It's so nice to have such a vibrate and different option than the standard bars around town and Black Rabbit really brings its own amazing uniqueness. The service is always spot on and I feel like I'm grabbing a drink with friends even if I've come alone. The ambiance, vibes and overall ascetic the place makes it a great spot to grab a cold drink, take a deep breath, slow down and enjoy your time. read more

The entire place is extremely friendly and inviting. Collin was fantastic!!! If I ever get back to Reno, I'm going to Black Rabbit Meads.

Nice little place if you want to try mead. They also have craft beers and a full bar. A bit dark and a little trendy, but with a friendly staff. Live music of various styles a few times a month. Get there before 7:00pm to grab a table. Hand sandwiches are available. read more

Black Rabbit has a great selection of specialty cocktails and meads. They also offer hand pies if you need a snack. The staff are friendly and helpful when it comes to deciding what to try next. They have open mic night on Mondays. This is a neat place to stop when you want to try something new, we definitely enjoyed ourselves! read more

I was with a group of friends and we shared two flights which gave us every offering and two slushies. All the meads were delicious. I haven't been in a few months so the selection was new. They did have BL Bliss. My favorite was Odins, that was absolutely delicious. It is a black tea honey flavor which was lovely! They were all delicious though. The server was great, she suggested we try all the flavors and mentioned the slushies were great! 10/10 again. Black Rabbit never disappoints. read more

I enjoy the variety of events that are ongoing through Black rabbit mead...there is something to offer on a weekly basis. I went for the Spring Fling Drag Show, which was a great time. Very festive and spring themed. I ordered a nonalcoholic drink it was a hibiscus flavor. It felt like springtime in a cup almost too pretty to drink. I would love to come back to sample the pies that I enjoyed in the time past or to try the G's food truck that was located outside of Black rabbit. This place fills up quickly so it's wise to keep that in mind for special events. read more

Cool place, they have cocktail-style mead and beer-style! And FROZEN mead! They host a lot of cool events, we stumbled into a drag show.

Love this place. Initially came here at a Yelp! Event and toured the brewery. Have been getting their meads at Total Wine and events, but tonight I went to hear some music and meet up with friends. Service was great. The place was packed and everyone was having a great time. I love the blueberry mead. Refreshing on a warm summer's night. read more

Absolutely loved visiting this meadery. We had a fantastic experience there, and left with a couple bottles of delicious mead. I believe the guy that helped us was the owner. He was great! He explained everything about mead, and was just awesome to talk to. The atmosphere here was really cool too. I seriously can't wait to go back, because I definitely need more mead! read more

Pro's: Very tasty cocktails with interesting ingredients. Great venue for live music. Con's: No cocktail servers...bar service only. Go back?: Sure More... As part of ArtTown, I went to Black Rabbit to see a bluegrass show. The bourbon and gin cocktails I had were terrific...very tasty with innovative ingredients. I had the beef Wellington meat pie. It was tasty but kind of greasy and could have had more meat in it. It was served with a cold cup of gravy that was excessively thick. The venue is good for live music. It is small. The seating in front of the bandstand had about 20 people seated there, but it wasn't packed. A cocktail server would have had me ordering more drinks, but having to get up and wait in line for drinks was a bummer. It was interesting to learn about the meads. I had a sampling of 4 and then chose the bourbon cocktail, then the gin. They did not have wine that I saw but otherwise had a full bar. I would go back for whatever live music lands on the schedule. read more

Got a chance to come in and sit down at Black Rabbit, came in specifically to try out one of the Mead Cocktails. My husband and I both went for the Mucho Monchito and wow was it amazing! Such a perfect blend of flavors, I will for sure be coming to try out some more. The bartender was super nice and I really love the ambiance. The theme is very cool and well put together. So many fun things to look at. There are so many events happening here, hoping my next visit is to attend one of them. read more

Bartender was super friendly, atmosphere is a total trip and the decorations are fun to explore. We really loved the dark old school theming. Drinks were also, of course, fantastic, super clean bathrooms, and a ton of fun rotating events. Can't wait to come back for one of them. read more

Me and my partners go here often enough now to have started to be noticed by the staff. This should be a note on of itself on how friendly they are. I don't believe out of the many times I've come here I've ever had an issue. The inside is also very cozy, offering a few snug corners and open areas to converse. The summers here and very comfy feeling and the lighting always makes the mood. The drinks rotate from time to time and they have a unique taste to every one. They also have locale beers which is pretty cool to try out something made here. One of the big highlights for me is that they colab with a lot of performers and venues in town and seem to have events going on quite often, from drag to bingo night. Ok I do rideshare and one of my passengers said I had to go try their meat pockets. I had the perogie one and the Tuscan one. Can't wait to try the other two. One was a beef wellington. Also the sugar pie was good but I feel a little small for the price. Had the honey lavender lemonade non alcoholic. Was good and refreshing... took it to go cause that meal and the lavender put me to sleep. Also they have live bands and I saw bingo on their calender. read more

I will say this time and time again. DO NOT SLEEP ON THEIR MOCKTAIL MENU! I think it is one of the best in town. The spot is so cute and cozy and the people behind the bar are always so helpful. Stopped by on Wednesday for Drag Bingo! First off - the bingo was fun and the queens were amazing. Vertigo - you're a new fave, babe. And all the money went to charity so win win! We grabbed two flights and they let us try all 9 flavors rather than only 8. I ended up loving the sasparilla flavor, pineapple jalapeño, pineapple beach one, and the april mead! They were the most delicious drinks. It was very fun to taste them all and very well priced. My mom got two hand pies, the beef wellington and cheesesteak - she loved both! U had a bite of each and they were delicious. The seating was minimal - for an event like this they definitely need more seating but we got a table and chairs! The bartenders were very kind and helpful with decisions and ordering and handled the lines like pros! read more

Black Rabbit is one of the coolest things about Reno Tahoe! To me it's a statement about who we are as a community, a group of people with reverence for tradition and history, a passion for local producers, and a strong desire to build on the past for a better tomorrow. That was a philosophical way of saying you need to go, and the messes they make are reason enough. My favorites are the classic "Church of Roger", the pineapple jalapeño "Hawaiian Ember", and most of their cocktail style meads like the "St. Johnny" and "Skadi Grey". They usually also offer a seasonal or two as well! On my last visit I also got to check out their "traditional mead" menu which features imports from meaderies around the globe. I had a fig mead from South Africa and it was a sweet wine style, high ABV, and a great little nightcap. This section is a bit more pricey but the meads are very unique, different from what they produce, and worth a try. They also offer cocktails with local spirits, beer from local breweries, a full menu of non-alcoholic beverages and cocktails, as well as a small menu of hand pies aka pasties! They're always doing cool events too, so there's usually something going on no matter what night you go. Their events range from live music and dancing to workshops and insightful and interesting lectures, so there's something for everyone. A few weeks ago I got to visit on a Sunday night and caught a lecture from some local paranormal investigators sharing stories of their experiences in and around the city! The place was packed and a mug of the warm seasonal spiced mead made for a great Sunday reset and date. I don't get here nearly often enough, but that's ok because I love picking up bottles and cans up to enjoy and share with friends. BRM is a total gem! read more

How have I lived in Reno for this long and NEVER been to Black Rabbit? Hoping my blasphemy could be overlooked, we ventured over because we heard that 1x a month on Sundays they do a little family-friendly folk night event. I was a bit intimidated to bring my son...would it REALLY be family friendly? Would non family patrons give us the side eye? Would it be way too loud in there? Etc. But we ended up very pleasantly surprised! Right when we walked in there were quite a few other kids so we instantly felt more at ease. They even had a little toy section set up near the door away from the speakers and we were able to grab a seat right there. When we went up to grab a drink at the bar, I got a quick 101 on their menu and decided to try the Church of Roger, which is the base to many of their other flavors. They also had a wide variety of cocktails and NA options, and a few purée pouch options too for the kids, which I thought was a super cute touch! TBH the live music was still a littttle louder than I'd have preferred, but I guess that's a bit difficult to find a balance. Overall it was a fun time though, and as a new parent it can be hard to get out of the house at night. I really appreciated that this business, who let's be honest isn't what first comes to mind for a family night, really went out of their way to make everyone feel welcomed. Thanks Black Rabbit--looking forward to the next Sunday! read more

Back again for Tour de Brews on 4th and 5th streets. Black Rabbit is our starting point for the tour. But not just that, it's a place to visit often. Mead, drinks and meat pies plus music in a comfy atmosphere. The staff helped me pick a mead that would be sweet. There are lots of flavors to choose so ask for help to get what you want. But wait there's more! We've had meat pies before and loved them. For events like the Tour you can expect barber shoppers to drop in. But there is music here regularly. Check out the website for a schedule of entertainment or trivia night. Meet up and try mead again or for the first time. Either way you'll have good time. read more

Black Rabbit is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a warm, cozy atmosphere with all the right vibes. The staff and owners are incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel like part of the family from the get-go. One of the highlights of this place is their Sunday Family Folk gatherings. It's rare to find events that caters so well to both adults and kids, but Family Folk nails it. The live performances by local artists add a delightful touch to the experience, and watching our 2-year-old groove along is priceless. It's evident that everyone, regardless of age, is having a blast. And let's talk about the drinks and food - wow! Finally made it to Black Rabbit Meads for Charity Bingo with Chris Payne and it did not disappoint. Upon entering, the vibe was great - Colby greeted us with a smile and could not have been friendlier. There was chill music and Barbarella was on. Not being mead fans, he made us some mixed drinks - the Hot Hunny Boy and a Ranch Hand (swap out for the hot honey - sooooo delish). All in all, we had a great night, the place was super clean, and the drinks were tasty. We'll definitely be back. **sorry, no gluten free food here but my friends said the hand pies are bomb too. read more

I love coming to black rabbit meadery, especially on a cold winter day. It's such a warm and cozy ski atmosphere inside, lots of old skis and bikes hanging on the walls as decor. The famous warm spiced mead was amazing, such rich flavor and warmed my body all the way through! Perfectly spiced. They have a really fun and raucous trivia night scene as well. Cocktails are fun and inventive and best of all a lot of it is mead based which is such a good alternative liquor. And the gins and tequilas they do have are all sourced locally and produced locally! Hubby had the St Charles cocktail style mead which was delicious! Loved the vibes! Will give The Black Rabbit a standing ovation for the atmosphere, the music selection, the board games, service, price, and overall experience! -mead selection: 5/5 If you're new to mead, try it! Our bartender handed us a water gun and that's where it all started. We were warmly greeted with an invitation to a donation based car wash that just made us laugh but felt welcoming! We were greeted as first time clients and were sampling meads from the 10 available option. There's something for everyone. Between sweet, sour, and hoppy/herbal, the craft of your brewer is noted as these honey elixirs of life give you a buzz that's definitely enlightening over good company. I recommend the #1 as it's what the brewers drinking. It definitely gave me the full experience of what mead should be. The sampler for them includes 4 different options for you to sip on and it's enough to give you a good taste of the 10 available options. The fact you can taste them before you commit to one... it'll leave you coming back for more. The fact we have a mead bar in Reno... definitely part of what makes Reno an amazing experience! I say stop on by and pick yourself up a tasty new drink! & If you're a D&D enthusiast.... Pick up some mead for your next campaign. It'll please the likings to your weary travelers! Fell in love with this Meadery while visiting in Reno around the downtown brewery district area on 4th St. They make cider style meads made with local honey and also gluten free. The taste is like a cross between beer and cider. They are delicious, light, and refreshing! Loved the ambiance. They had dim lighting, cool decor, cozy feel, with dark wood tables and red seating. They also had lots of cool games and board games around the place to play. It wasn't that busy when we arrived. So service was pretty quick and super friendly. My two favorite were #5 The Hawaiian Amber (pinapple, Jalepeno), and the # 2 Branch of the Mcbrooms (strawberry, Rhubarb, oak). I can't wait to come back! read more

The meadery is so cool! I always forget about this place when I'm thinking of a spot to hang out but I regret not coming more often. It's intimate, swanky, yet inviting and the drinks are home brewed and delicious (and gluten free!). If you've never had mead, I think it tastes similar to kombucha - light, effervescent, mildly flavored. And they do sampler flights for around $20.
