We have now been to this majestic spot x2 now. The first a couple of weeks ago, and quite honestly…read morewe just kind of stumbled upon it. We were in the area and saw the big black widow spider and thought what a large Halloween store. But we were pleasantly mistaken - What used to be a bowling alley has now been repurposed into an absolute wonderland of an experience. It's a full blown kid friendly adult friendly haunted warehouse. My 4 year old son had an absolute blast, it starts of with a bit of trick or treating as your making your way through the adventure, then turns into a full on experience as each and every room has a theme from Jurassic park, aliens, robots, clowns, skeletons, a mirror room that I conveniently banged my head into, all the way to the super psychedelic tunnel. Which leads you to the Macabre mansion - for adults and children too. THEY ARE EXTREMELY ACCOMMODATING- asking how scary you'd like the experience to be. Seeing as my Little guy is 4 we asked for no jump scares. And made it through enjoying every bit of the way. My little guy hugged the zombie, high fives leather face and complimented his chainsaw, noting it looked like it could use some oil, but the blood would do. We had an absolute blast. They are doing a Christmas themed experience as well. The owner has a dream, retired and sunk all of her savings into an experience we can all appreciate. I hope to see them sound for many many more years to come. Do yourself a favor and check them out! You won't be disappointed.

The bar had a decent selection of drinks and was average for this type of spot. The issue I have is the audio quality of the venue. It is poor. I was up on the railing for the show and I could not hear any vocals from the band. There are wedge monitors directed at the band, but no front fills for the audience. I had a good time, but the audio quaility needs to be improved.

What a beautiful and quaint venue with both inside and outside space. Located inside the Rancho San Rafael Park and bordering the Ranch House grounds is the Wilbur D. May Arboretum. There are multiple rooms with a kitchen and bar area. I noticed there was an upstairs available too. I was informed that the venue was inexpensive. If you want to have a sit-down meal the space is limited. The weather was nice which meant a lot of people took advantage and were seated outside in the courtyard. The full house not including the kitchen is $90.00 an hour with a two-hour minimum and a maximum of 150 people along with a $500 cleaning deposit which is refundable. This was the second place we checked out and I immediately fell in love with this place. We had two other places we were going to tour but ended up cancelling because we just knew the Elm Estate was where we wanted to celebrate our special day! Why? Many reasons but for one - this place has it all! Not to mention the property is just absolutely beautiful! Ceremony, reception, and even lodging onsite- which not only made it convenient but unique too. Secondly what really stood out was - you truly feel the Elm Estate is invested in making your day one to remember! When you book with them, you have 3 detailing meetings, including an opportunity called "mixology" to sit with the bartender and customize your cocktails. We mostly worked with Emma and Shannon and they were very responsive and accommodating throughout the entire wedding planning process! Bridget was our day of onsite coordinator and she too absolutely made our day flow smoothly and beautifully. They add so many special little touches that make your experience feel VIP! If there was one downfall -I would say it was not being able to access the bridal suite (which by the way is stunning and everyone girl's dream aesthetics) until 2pm and having to do makeup and hair offsite instead- it made the logistics a bit challenging, but I guess that's what booking the cottages was for. It also always means a lot to me- when the owner of a business, personally comes and introduces themselves and checks in with you to make sure everything is good! All our guests loved the venue and we know we picked the best one! Elm estate and the staff truly exceeded expectations and helped make our wedding day a perfect one!!

We booked the Elm Estate for my dad's memorial and chose it in part because they billed themselves…read moreas a "one-stop shop" that would "handle everything." Trying to put this together on short notice, from out of state, all while grieving made this sound like a good solution. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. We quickly learned that "handling everything" mostly meant introducing us to their approved vendors. If we wanted to use someone outside their list, that vendor would first have to be vetted--a process we didn't have the time or bandwidth to deal with. The prices we were quoted through these vendors were sky-high: $6,000 for ten flower arrangements, nearly $6,000 for catering that consisted of three appetizers, a charcuterie board and a dessert station. Then came the additional charges--for things like cloth napkins and "premium" spirits (even though this was a daytime event where no one was drinking anything stronger than beer and wine). At every turn, it felt like there was another opportunity to add something to the bill. There were also some surprising lapses in professionalism. They recommended that we hire an MC and offered to make introductions. We specifically said that we would prefer to see a list of candidates and their websites before moving forward. Instead, they sent an email introduction to a guitarist/MC, who then proceeded to email us every few days trying to get us to book him. We finally had to ask him politely to leave us alone while we made a decision. Additionally, some basic things were overlooked on the day itself -- the microphone stopped working halfway through my father's eulogy and I had to ask the staff to put out boxes of tissues. We held a second memorial for my dad in Los Angeles a few days later, so have been able to compare the two experiences directly. It was every bit as warm and lovely, with great food, flowers and an open bar...and cost roughly one-fourth as much. I understand that full-service event planning come at a premium, and we expected to spend more here. What I did not expect was to come away from my father's memorial feeling that our grief and time crunch made us easy marks for expensive vendors and endless upcharges. The Elm Estate is a beautiful property (surrounded, it should be noted, by mobile home parks, self-storage units and railroad tracks), but based on our experience, I would encourage anyone considering it to ask for detailed pricing, including vendor costs and every possible add-on, before signing a contract.

They do have occasional happy hours but you would have to check the website to find out when. Our venue was a wedding shower for about 30 people. Jake and Lorenzo were so very friendly and welcoming to all of us. Our food trays came from the Cheese Board which I will review separately. I really love this space and I hope that they can expand into having food and more regular happy hours.
