This was the second place we checked out and I immediately fell in love with this place. We had two other places we were going to tour but ended up cancelling because we just knew the Elm Estate was where we wanted to celebrate our special day! Why? Many reasons but for one - this place has it all! Not to mention the property is just absolutely beautiful! Ceremony, reception, and even lodging onsite- which not only made it convenient but unique too. Secondly what really stood out was - you truly feel the Elm Estate is invested in making your day one to remember! When you book with them, you have 3 detailing meetings, including an opportunity called "mixology" to sit with the bartender and customize your cocktails. We mostly worked with Emma and Shannon and they were very responsive and accommodating throughout the entire wedding planning process! Bridget was our day of onsite coordinator and she too absolutely made our day flow smoothly and beautifully. They add so many special little touches that make your experience feel VIP! If there was one downfall -I would say it was not being able to access the bridal suite (which by the way is stunning and everyone girl's dream aesthetics) until 2pm and having to do makeup and hair offsite instead- it made the logistics a bit challenging, but I guess that's what booking the cottages was for. It also always means a lot to me- when the owner of a business, personally comes and introduces themselves and checks in with you to make sure everything is good! All our guests loved the venue and we know we picked the best one! Elm estate and the staff truly exceeded expectations and helped make our wedding day a perfect one!!

We booked the Elm Estate for my dad's memorial and chose it in part because they billed themselves…read moreas a "one-stop shop" that would "handle everything." Trying to put this together on short notice, from out of state, all while grieving made this sound like a good solution. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. We quickly learned that "handling everything" mostly meant introducing us to their approved vendors. If we wanted to use someone outside their list, that vendor would first have to be vetted--a process we didn't have the time or bandwidth to deal with. The prices we were quoted through these vendors were sky-high: $6,000 for ten flower arrangements, nearly $6,000 for catering that consisted of three appetizers, a charcuterie board and a dessert station. Then came the additional charges--for things like cloth napkins and "premium" spirits (even though this was a daytime event where no one was drinking anything stronger than beer and wine). At every turn, it felt like there was another opportunity to add something to the bill. There were also some surprising lapses in professionalism. They recommended that we hire an MC and offered to make introductions. We specifically said that we would prefer to see a list of candidates and their websites before moving forward. Instead, they sent an email introduction to a guitarist/MC, who then proceeded to email us every few days trying to get us to book him. We finally had to ask him politely to leave us alone while we made a decision. Additionally, some basic things were overlooked on the day itself -- the microphone stopped working halfway through my father's eulogy and I had to ask the staff to put out boxes of tissues. We held a second memorial for my dad in Los Angeles a few days later, so have been able to compare the two experiences directly. It was every bit as warm and lovely, with great food, flowers and an open bar...and cost roughly one-fourth as much. I understand that full-service event planning come at a premium, and we expected to spend more here. What I did not expect was to come away from my father's memorial feeling that our grief and time crunch made us easy marks for expensive vendors and endless upcharges. The Elm Estate is a beautiful property (surrounded, it should be noted, by mobile home parks, self-storage units and railroad tracks), but based on our experience, I would encourage anyone considering it to ask for detailed pricing, including vendor costs and every possible add-on, before signing a contract.

We had my bestie visiting from Sacto so this was a perfect event to take him to. The one thing that was difficult is we had a very long walk from the parking to the actual event so I wished I had brought my parasol :) it was a very hot day similar to what we've had all summer. This year was so strange weather wise, I feel like we didn't have a spring at all, it was like Winter then Summer. I love the rain so it was amazing for that and to help our water resources. It was very crowded so this proved that this was a great success. They had a cute area for the children with picnic tables with coloring books. This was very wise of the organizers to think of this. I literally squeezed myself into a bench and hung out there until the boys were finished with the beer and band. I just wanted to get home to the pool. My buddy Tomas and Joe were exciting try the different beers and they definitely did, guess who drove home? ;) Fun event! The only thing that could use some improvement for next year was the ticket people had no idea about how to accept my 2 free tickets... It was only $7 per person so that's so reasonable it wasn't worth arguing. Yelp has brought me so much happiness over the years starting in the Bay Area and then coming to Reno. The tasting space is pretty tight be comfortable. A hand full of bar height tables and a decent sized bar space are great places to choose to sit while having a pint or two. I am not sure who did the food, I just assumed it was done in house but the food truck outside had a different logo on it, then that logo was covered up with the Great Basin logo. Maybe the trailer is a new acquisition for Local Food Group and just hasn't been repainted. Either way the corned beef tots were perfect. Not too salty or rich, just tasty tasty goodness that totally satisfied. My side of cabbage and carrots was a perfect addition to the meal. It was really nice to be able to get a smaller set of meals that were able to feed. The food was so good in fact that we decided to go back the next night to try some sliders and the more classic corned beef and cabbage dish. But that didn't work out because we were stopped at the door and told to pay a cover for a music event that night. Total bummer because we probably would have spent $50 or $60 bucks on food and drinks easily. It was sort of an awkward moment. Next time I will double check to not go on a night where they require tickets to just enter.

I hired her two weeks before my wedding (expecting around 40 people) we had several seemingly positive discussions talking about details of the celebration and even finalized the menu. Then after sending us the proposal (and us approving it) with less than a week before the wedding Heather sends me this text message out of the blue (the following is an exact copy and paste of what she wrote to me) : "I am just not feeling like I should move forward with this catering job. It's too much pressure for too little time & that is never a good combination. I do not want this job, please don't contact me." I was shocked and completely blindsided since we had only had positive interactions prior to her sending this text. This turned out to be a complete lie because she actually advertises that she only needs three days notice to put an event together for up to 50 people! See below excerpt from an interview she did with Chanel 8 Kolo News Now: "Between shopping for her ingredients and prepping the food, Beaupre-Howell says she needs at least 3 full days to get ready for an event." So basically Heather got a better offer and dropped me like a hot potato and lied about her reasons for canceling, burning a huge bridge in the process and leaving us to scramble less than a week before our wedding. Do not let this happen to you!!! Save yourself stress and heartache and avoid Heather Beaupre at all costs.
