There is a beverage to be found sloshing at the depths of our national soul and that is beer. We were in MidTown with friends checking out what's new and groovy in the neighborhood, spotted Local Beer Works which none of us had been to before. We heartily agree with Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, U.S. Air Force Veteran that, "Good people drink good beer." So, we all stepped in for a brew. Since most brews are seasonal, we asked what was available, tried a beer apiece and found each was aromatic and mouth-watering and nose-tickling. We noticed others playing a board game who pointed out to us where we could get one, so we played while we drank. Dog-friendly. Disabled-friendly. Has non-alcoholic options. The customer service was adequate. No automatic gratuity was demanded for our attendance here. The bill matched their posted prices. (It's an illegal Deceptive Trade Practice when the bill doesn't match posted prices) No one at this business took my picture without my permission or publicly posted it without my permission. No one at this business offered to commit fraud to reward me or pay me or compensate me for posting 5-star reviews of this business. Came here after a long bike ride and this is officially going to be my new go to for a brew after a ride. Love that I can park the car right next to the table and keep an eye on the bikes, of course, as long as the parking lot is not packed. The lady working counter was super friendly and patient, wife and I decided to get three flights... so it took us a while to choose what we wanted. It's really cool that they have a bunch of games on a shelf that you can play while you're hanging out. Ambience is definitely pretty sweet, love that the front completely opens up. Came in to try Local Beer Works after our long bike ride and we loved it! Very chill vibe, the lady working was extremely friendly. They patio area is super nice, made it easy to watch our bikes while we enjoyed some beer. I am a big fan of flights, only $12 for a flight of 4, great deal! They had such a fun selection and I enjoyed all of the ones we tried. Didn't notice until the end that they had a bunch of board games, we will most definitely be coming back for more flights and some games! read more

A little hole in the wall at Midtown! Local Beer Works is a pretty cool bar along Virginia St., mostly tucked in a corner of a shopping center. They have 31 beers on tap and the staff is super friendly and helpful! Since they have a good amount of beers on tap, they're always happy to offer little tasters. A nice little perk is the popcorn and the numerous amount of games you can play! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Great place to bring your pup! Always recommended to have on a leash and be well behaved. If you're in Midtown, definitely worth visiting and grabbing a beer! read more

Seen this place in passing for a long time, and only now decided to stop in. And you know what, I totally get why people love it so much. This is a small, chill, welcoming joint. It really feels like a neighborhood bar, sort of hitting the sweet spot of stylish and casual. It has a few tables and bar stools inside, and a couple more right outside. And when the big door is rolled up, it makes for a most excellent open place to sit and enjoy a pint or two in the nice weather. They're located smack dab in the heart of Midtown, and is very easy to get to if you are out exploring the district. Maybe the one downside to the location is the parking, as they are part of a very small, shared lot, and only a few street spots. But this is Midtown, after all, and there are nearby parking spaces and the area is very walkable. The drink selection is decently sized. Big enough to have something for everyone, but small enough to not be overwhelming. Beers of most assorted types and styles, hard ciders, wine, boozy slushies, and even a bunch of non-alcoholic drinks. They don't sell food beyond some small bagged snacks and chips, but I do know they host food trucks here on occasion. They have a really casual and fun ambiance here. There's a couple TV's, what looks like a stage for live music, lots of board games, and even art supplies should you want to try those out. The service was also quite friendly and prompt. And prices are pretty much on par with other sorts of craft beer bars in town. So yeah, not too much else to say here. This is a solid little spot in Midtown - great beer selection (including drafts and bottles), as well as non-alcoholic options. They have a shelf full of games which is fun, and they often host events such as paint nights and participate in neighborhood events (Dancing in the Streets for example). The inside space is relatively small, but they have picnic tables outside and a large "garage" door that opens. What stands out is the staff, they're all just so super nice and friendly! Cool little spot to have a beer or two while in Midtown. We went in just after they opened for the day and had the place to ourselves. I was able to get a flight and try a number of tasty offerings for a decent price. The open space was super clean and I felt like I was in a neighborhood bar instead of pretentious beer bar. Not that there is anything wrong with a pretentious tap house, but it was nice to have a neighborly feel to my experience while we chilled on a quiet afternoon. Parking nearby can be at a premium but it isn't too far to some sort of parking options unless the area has an event going on. If you are lucky they will have a spot in the parking lot. I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it missed the mark in almost every way. The beer selection looked promising on paper, but most of what we tried tasted either flat, overly bitter, or just plain off. I'm all for craft and creativity, but maybe focus on quality control before launching a dozen experimental brews. The service was painfully slow--even though it wasn't that busy when we came in. We waited nearly 20 minutes just to get someone to take our order, and another 30 for a flight that should've taken 10. No apologies, no check-ins, and not a smile in sight. The vibe was also weirdly unwelcoming. It felt more like a bro-heavy dive bar trying too hard to be hip. Sticky tables, loud music that didn't match the setting, and don't even get me started on the bathrooms--they looked like they hadn't been cleaned since last year. If you're a serious beer lover, there are way better spots nearby. Wish we'd gone elsewhere. Won't be back. read more

This place WROCKS! We went here on a hot Friday night looking to have cider on tap. After Googling "cidery", this came up. We knew where it was because we had seen it driving by in the past. Super cool, chill vibes. Totally a place to relax and not think about the outside world or look at your phone. They have coloring for adults, outdoor seating, and nice bathrooms. They've got a good amount of socially distanced seating for the size of the shop and everything is so clean. Also, during the warmer months, you can enjoy a drink on their little patio. We definitely enjoyed the vibe of this place and their beer selections were all really fairly priced and we definitely buoyed everything we tried. There is a decent selection of craft beer on tap, including a couple additional beverages like kombucha, wine, and there was even a mead from Black Rabbit. The space is new, modern, and has some nice decorative touches such as the hop shaped pendant lights! There is a garage door that opens up the space and connects the inside seating with the outdoor seating. Grab a flight or pint and sit down and do a color project if you so choose. There was a label project going on at the time of our visit and with that liquid inspiration, you could sit and work on it with the many colored pencils and crayons available for use. They also have a nice collection of swag for sale as well. It was kind of warm the day we went and I wasn't really feeling the a/c so my only request for next time is that it's a bit cooler inside. Stopped in for the first time last night to grab drinks with friends. What a quaint, cozy spot with a relaxed, casual feel. They have a few tables set up outside which were nicely shaded. A relief since we are having another heat wave. Note, I got there around 6:30pm. The inside is clean and simple. They offer flights in either 4 or 6 samples. Located in the heart of Midtown, in Reno, I consider this new Reno business as a different approach to the craft beer experience. Local Beer Works is located on the corner of South Virginia Street and Martin Street. It has a clean and inviting environment where they offer many beer choices, around 24 rotating craft beers on tap, as well as having draft wine and kombucha options for those who do not drink beer. The environment and layout is a modern and contemporary space allowing for social events for personal parties or corporate gatherings. The owners, Ashley and Tina told me they will host such events like craft beer classes where they will educate their customers on craft beer, what to pair various beer offerings with and other types of classes. I went there to check this new business and have a couple cold ones to find out it is more than just a place to drink beer; it's a tasting room where you can edify yourself on the experience of drinking beer! The prices for a beer are extremely competitive when comparing other locations in Midtown that offer beer, however, I love to support business like Local Beer Works because it is a clean and friendly place to hang out.
