The food was amazing was delicious and cooked to my liking. To drink I had a double Old Forester light ice to open the notes and it was perfect. I didn't get the bartenders name but she was very knowledgeable and professional. I asked for her recommendation and she told me Old Forester. Excellent choice. The ambiance is on the darker side which I like but the lighting is sufficient. It is very easy on the eyes and doesn't strain you. The restaurant was clean as well. If I ever come back to Reno this will for sure be my first stop to eat. read more

We've been coming here for a while and generally love it...the rooftop seating is a great atmosphere and the service has always been excellent. This visit was a bit of a mixed bag, though. On the plus side, most of our food came out quickly and tasted great as usual. Unfortunately, the two people in our group who ordered the beef stroganoff special had a rough time. Their plates didn't arrive until a good 20 minutes after everyone else had already finished getting food, and when it did show up, it wasn't good -- the egg noodles were badly overcooked to the point of turning to mush, and the sauce tasted like someone had just dumped a can of cream of mushroom soup over everything. Pretty disappointing, especially given the wait. The bright spot of the night was our waitress, Taylor. She was stellar! Very personable, fun, and genuinely apologetic about the delay. It also looked like she was covering bartending duties on top of her tables, and she handled it all without missing a beat. We'll definitely be back -- the food issue felt like an off night rather than the norm but hopefully the kitchen tightens up on the specials. read more

Super fun pub with rooftop seating. We chose to sit outside and staff was super accommodating to find the right shade level for us. It got a bit windy but the temp was perfect. We started with some Irish nachos and cheese curds - delicious and tasty sauce for the curds. Next we had a mix of burgers, chicken & pasta and the brisket. The veggies on the brisket were cold and sort of a 'why bother' - I would change the menu to offer a brisket sandwich or burger instead and offer fries or salad. The triple heat burger was indeed hot and rare as I requested. Our server Dani was attentive and kind. Would love to see mocktails on the menu. read more

I am not sure how long this place has been opened. It is in the original Bailywick's building. Our experience was really just mediocre. We arrived at about 7 on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately in a small room off the bar. We waited about 10 minutes for a drink order. The cocktails were decent. We ordered dinner and found that they were out of about half the menu. My daughter ordered three times. Each time they were out of what she asked for. My wife liked the burger. I had the Diablo Chicken. The sandwich was huge. Great flavor, but it falls apart. It is difficult to eat and the chicken breast is huge. The problem comes trying to cook a giant breast. It was not cooked entirely through. The wedge salad was very good. Service was okay. They did comp my daughter's meal so I will give them an extra star. read more

Hubby had the Beer Braised Brisket meal, it arrived cold & had a lot of gristle. He had ordered a glass of red wine & it arrived very warm. The temperature that day was about 98°, so food should have been at least as warm as the wine. When he complained about the wine being overly warm, the waitress stated, "the manager told them they only chill white wine". When red wine is too warm (more than 65°) it's pretty much trashed. Maybe store it in a fridge if it's in the upstairs patio...overall, no one was overly thrilled with their meals. My S-I-L did like their beer. read more

Long overdue but going back this weekend so had to give a shoutout! We discovered their awesome patio last month and it is an amazing place for lunch, especially if you have a pup. We came here with our golden retriever puppy and not only were the staff incredible but they treated our girl like one of the family. Starbucks has nothing on their pup cup! Cocktails and beer were tasty, and the food was delicious. I got the Diablo chicken sandwich with the broccoli cheese soup, and my husband got the special which was a delicious grilled chicken sandwich with feta and pesto. I have my eye on the pastrami sandwich for next time although everything looks incredible. If you have a dog or even if you don't, visit this place and enjoy a great meal and service from a team who truly goes above and beyond. read more

Had a great afternoon down at the Fox. Food is good and I gotta say, the beer is better. This is true. Anyway, my pal Ricky made a wager that his old man couldn't name what team Tom Brady played for so I took that and now I'm gonna be one chicken sandwich richer, thanks Richard anyway five star and great friendly service ! read more

Sadly, as I continued to write this review, the rating just kept decreasing... Showed my buddy around town to some of our great breweries. Just left Lake Tahoe AleWorX Reno, and because I did NOT know it was Tuesday today, they were closed... My bad, but it was to Fox's benefit. Well, we stopped by the Lead Dog Brewery before coming here also, lol. But you know that because you are following. Quality/Quantity - No more happy hour?!?! Today we got the following: Fried Pickles - Too salty! And I like salt. Guess it helps us drink more beer? Other than the excess salt, it was fried well. Lamb Burger - It was just okay. Kind of small. Was offered ranch and ketchup, but was not told there was an upcharge. As the waitress was taking my order, I changed to ketchup only, but was still charged for the ranch. It was not worth bringing it up for 50 cents. The fries were fried perfectly, pun intended. Chicken Pot Pie - Looked huge, but the bowl was VERY misleading. More crust and very shallow, and the filling was VERY watered down. My buddy did NOT enjoy this at all. And to wash it all down, I actually got the Raspberry Red Ale which after tasting both of the reds (my usual Irish Red Ale), the Raspberry won. My buddy got his usual Hop Tahoe IPA. The good news was that your beers were GOOD! Ambiance - Back parking lot, you need validation... After doing ALL that work, we realized that there was plenty of street parking and the front lot was easy parking; NO validation needed. Maybe add signs for future new customers to check for other spots before doing all that QR validation parking paperwork. Table, booth, semi private, and bar seating. Two story building. Also a roof top patio seating, which was too cold today. See pictures. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm; Yelp hours differ slightly. Service - Door greeter; the hostess was nice. The waitress was also nice, and other than the honest ranch mistake charge, the experience was good. Thanks for the communication that there was only one person working and that our dinner was going to take longer than usual. Glad we ordered the 20 oz beers, lol. Price - $65 + tip. Signs say 2.95% credit card charge, but receipt had 2.99%?!?! Please update. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success and with your two locations. I will go back to frequenting your Carson City location, see 5 star Yelp review. read more

Finally made it to the Fox! My wife and I came in for a late lunch on a Saturday with our pup. I wasn't quite sure if dogs were allowed but we confirmed and they opened up the gate so we could head up to the top patio with her. We ordered some beers and they were quick to arrive. We put in our lunch order and it showed up quickly as well! The St Charles Burger was great, a nice standard burger that was juicy and flavorful. My wife ordered the wedge salad and we shared both which was a nice combination. We enjoyed the patio on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and it was nice to have a place to bring our puppy and enjoy a nice meal. I've added the Fox to my list of dog friendly spots I can now enjoy! read more

I have heard amazing things about Fox's happy hour and finally decided to check it out. I visited on a Tuesday around 3 pm. We weren't told about any happy hour specials and they seemed to have been removed from the website so I guess Fox isn't doing happy hour anymore? Regardless, we had a great time at Fox! Both the host and server were super friendly and attentive. We ordered the apricot blonde and the seasonal English beer. Both were great beers and much needed after a long workday. We ended up spending about 2 hours hanging out and enjoying our beers. We'll definitely be back when the weather is nicer so we can enjoy the upstairs seating! read more

Came here Friday night for an early dinner. The hostess was BEYOND sweet and accommodating. She let me know that there was a large party coming in and to order our food so it was out before it got too busy. Then, our waitress was incredibly kind as well. She gave us time to look over the menu, tell us about her favorite kind of wings and sauce, etc. she was patient while we were indecisive. The burger was great. We shared it with fries and it was plenty! But we couldn't pass up the wings. My favorite was the garlic Parmesan and it's served with ranch and blue cheese. We came from Rocklin, California to Reno, Nevada this afternoon for a "yarn crawl" (don't ask!?!). We arrived in time for a late lunch and decided to give The Fox Brewery & Pub on Wonder Street a try. Excellent choice! While the pub ambiance was not really anything to write home about, the service, food, and brew were! We sat upstairs outside on the roof (very windy) and started with our beer selections after that long 2-hour drive. My wife went with the Chocolate Cherry Stout and I just had to have the Naughty Boo Boo Brown Ale because, well, the name I guess!?! The results? Both of us ended up in brewski heaven! They were soooo good! We both ordered the Fish 'N' Chips to see if The Fox could rival our favorite spot in Roseville. No problem.....The Fox won hands down! Great crunchy batter, no fishy taste, and paired with tasty fries. Our server didn't hover over us but had a sixth sense about when to be tableside. We'll surely know where to come next time in Reno! read more

After my girlfriend and I had a rough day because of the Bug Fire, we were looking for some comfort food. We ordered Fox Breweries, chicken nachos and "homemade" chicken pot pie. Coming from a foodie it was terrible, the pot pie was not even close to a homemade feeling, and the chicken nachos were 5/10 AT BEST. The nachos lacked flavor, cheese, and effort. The pot pie, same thing it lacks effort and flavor. read more

Went last night with a group of 6, only 4 of us ordered food. The chicken quesadilla was amazing, the tacos were okay. And my partner and I both got pasta. The pasta was soggy and mushy at best. But the overall highlight was our service. I wish I could leave 0 stars. Food came out after an hour. Server/bartender said they only had one chef. Totally understand. Not her fault. Food came out, the fries were old with the burger. The waffle fries with the Irish nachos were old (which is the main component of the dish) and the pot pie was bland. But hey, the food came out an hour later, so they were obviously struggling. The part that got me? The server/bartender was rude. Never was I rude to her. I only asked where the food was after an hour... but she literally hit me with the check. Physically. And was rude overall. Don't recommend. Service is poor. Food is poorer. This business won't make it read more

Was here for our friend's reception after their wedding. We ended up being at the top and had the pleasure of being rooftop, it was really nice and rustic inside. We were so excited for this stop, but the food just didn't cut it: everything was served lukewarm at best, some items over-salted and chicken pot pie fairly flavorless, sadly. The best app we shared was the Irish Nachos (request the beer cheese added). The local beers were great! Servers were friendly--hope this was a rare occurrence with barely warm entrees. read more

Today it was about sitting outside in the sun so we decided to give the Fox a try! We like the Fox in Carson City which Reno has the same menu. We checked in at the front entrance by the bar to be discouraged from sitting on the roof top it's too cold & windy. I said " I'll get my coat". The host who was our waiter The same person looked familiar to me use to wait on us at Olive Garden. The more I talked to the staff it's really about they don't want to walk upstairs to wait on the customers. By the way the sun was brilliant on my face and no cost was required to enjoy the view. We ordered the Worlds famous dip which came out as a beef burnt French dip and cold soggy fries. My husband asked for another beer and told the gal twice, but it never came! The bonus part of our lunch experience was the rooftop sun shining down upon us and the waiter bringing my husband's second beer., read more

Good fish and chips with a friendly staff and fun theme on the inside. Had some games my boys played while waiting for their food too.

A Sunday afternoon this was a fun quiet place. Rustic appearance, with a chic worn appearance of the bar, this place exudes a casual comfortable environment. Chris the bartender and Brittney the waitress provided a humorous experience. It was appreciated and the service provided was high quality, just be patient. The food and drinks are worth the wait. The Irish Nachos were great. I enjoy appetizers for a meal and these hit the spot. The Fox is a brewery. The craft beers are worth the trip. Could not try them all at once, so a repeat visit is pending in the future. Nice job guys! Thanks, fun time! read more

AMAZING! Everything from the food, to the aesthetic, and the service! We ordered the Irish Nachos, Pastrami Sandwich and the California Turkey Melt. Let's get into the amazingness: Irish Nachos: the cheese was melted beautifully on top of crispy waffle fries and topped with sour cream, real bacon pieces, and green onions. Nice twist to your traditional Nachos. Pastrami Sandwich: OMG! The pastrami was to die for. I could eat the pastrami alone it was so yummy! It wasn't your average thin deli slices. They were thick slices with great flavor. The toasted sourdough, mustard and pickles complimented the meat exceptionally. I would order this again and again and again! California Turkey Melt: Hearty yet sweet. The mango chutney gave it a sweet kick and partnered well with the jack cheese, turkey and toasted sourdough. Great flavor! Both sandwiches came with fries and we asked to cook them extra crispy and they were exactly how we ordered them. Crunchy! It came with a side of ranch and ketchup, which were both great. They also brought out some chiptole mayo, which was also really good. French fry dip option heaven! Now to probably the best part of our experience... the service! They were so nice, personable, and we felt like they just cared. We weren't just another table. They made our experience that much better. The food being amazing was an extra bonus. If you haven't tried The Fox Restaurant, please do! You will not regret it. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Yummy Sunday lunch at the Fox! Kids apparently eat free here on sundays which is a definite bonus! I loved my California turkey sandwich with the mango chutney. It was a great touch. Service was quick and friendly! No complaints! We had a problem with our bill and through Yelp the owner Jim solved my problem. I really appreciate how quick and thorough he was with my problem. We decided to stop by this brewery to try out their nachos. I have to say that this was the smallest incomplete plate of nachos that I have ever seen. They had grilled some chicken and threw on top. There was very little cheese a little scoop of sour cream and no salsa whatsoever and barely any cheese. Absolutely terrible. I would never go back again $17 for a plate of chips. Great service!! The spicy sauce is very hot so beware if you aren't into very spicy food. Excellent burger and fried pickles.

Have wanted to try this restaurant for a while and so we were able to try it out for a late lunch today. Visited several times when it was Silver Peak 2. The restaurant is a pub and distillery therefore there is a large selection of beers to try. There are also some signature cocktails and wines available. The menu is quite nice with lots of selections from appetizers to sandwiches and salads to main courses. We decided, after the server recommended us, the pastrami and the fox dip sandwich. They were served with a large pile of french fries and sauces. We also tried the garlic fries which were very, very garlicky. Our server was very pleasant and friendly and attentive. The restaurant was full today but we only had a very short wait. The food was quickly served, piping hot and delicious. The sandwiches are quite large for the $17 to $19 price tag. I really enjoyed it. I think we will go back soon. There is free street parking as well as to parking lots on each side of the building. The lower lot does require that you scan the code to get free parking however. Restaurant was moderately noisy but very clean and cutely decorated. read more

How has The Fox been here and I didn't know it? We have been to the one in Carson City numerous times, so when I heard someone recently talking about the Midtown location, I had to come and check it out. First of all, I love the location. Not on a main street, but still easily accessible. There is also plenty of parking both in the front and back of the restaurant. We entered through the bar and were quickly greeted and seated at the tables near the bar. It was an early Monday evening, so not too many people when we got there, but they did eventually have a steady dinner crowd. I ordered a Classic Burger and my husband ordered the Monday Special, The Steak and Mushroom Pie. All of the food was really tasty. Unfortunately, my fries were over-cooked and when they got cold, they got hard (not a big enough deal to lower my rating and an easy fix). The rest of our experience was great. Our Server, Ryan was outstanding and was happy to talk to us about The Fox and some of its history. The place itself is huge and has so much potential. The dining room next to the bar has booth seating and the upstairs is perfect for large parties. There is apparently also an outside rooftop area that I didn't get to see. All in all, we had a great experience and plan to return again. We especially want to return to order from the Daily Specials Menu, which seems to have truly unique dishes. read more

We visited The Fox on Thursday, November 7th, 2024. The Chicken Picatta (Thursday's special), and Beer Braised Brisket entrees were literally FUN to eat...SO, SOOO delicious! Where else have you been where you can describe your meal as FUN? Special attention was obviously paid to each item, vegetable, noodle, and spices- both entrees were simply perfect! You must try their Chocolate Cherry Stout and Naughty Boo Boo Brown Ale, both are full bodied and satisfying brews. Tiffany was an absolute delight- friendly, efficient and so knowledgeable about everything. Our only complaint was they were out of their delicious bread pudding. Rooftop dining was excellent! Modified pastrami sandwich was fantastic and dairy-free (minus cheese) Portion sizes were just right Good assortment of sauces Easy parking New menus were clear and easy to understand; lots of options for sides Incredible servers Cons: Burger buns cooked in butter AND contain butter, which limited dairy-free options Some menu items seemed similar or familiar -- no signature dish? read more

The Fox has my heart. First, it's in Midtown and has reliable parking with the front door lot, back lot, and ample street non-metered options. Second, the food portions are huge, especially the burgers. Third, and most importantly, they have two upstairs tables that can seat 12 people. Now don't you go over there without giving them ample warning, OK? Let's be decent and considerate. On two occasions, I was able to go to the Fox with large groups, and they accommodated us like champs. With one group, I was able to even successfully do a Zoom call such that the one person who couldn't be remote could still participate in the group discussion over food and drinks. Jameson and Alex took care of us so well on our most recent vision. Big thank you! read more

Stopped in for lunch. The upstairs patio was nice. However, we had to wait over an hour for our 2 sandwiches. The food was mediocre. We ordered the side of fries to go with the sandwiches... which was an extra $4.95.... What we received was a very small side of cold fries. We love the building, the views and the patio.
