Long overdue but going back this weekend so had to give a shoutout! We discovered their awesome patio last month and it is an amazing place for lunch, especially if you have a pup. We came here with our golden retriever puppy and not only were the staff incredible but they treated our girl like one of the family. Starbucks has nothing on their pup cup! Cocktails and beer were tasty, and the food was delicious. I got the Diablo chicken sandwich with the broccoli cheese soup, and my husband got the special which was a delicious grilled chicken sandwich with feta and pesto. I have my eye on the pastrami sandwich for next time although everything looks incredible. Sadly, as I continued to write this review, the rating just kept decreasing... Showed my buddy around town to some of our great breweries. Just left Lake Tahoe AleWorX Reno, and because I did NOT know it was Tuesday today, they were closed... My bad, but it was to Fox's benefit. Well, we stopped by the Lead Dog Brewery before coming here also, lol. But you know that because you are following. Quality/Quantity - No more happy hour?!?! Today we got the following: Fried Pickles - Too salty! And I like salt. Guess it helps us drink more beer? Other than the excess salt, it was fried well. Lamb Burger - It was just okay. Kind of small. Was offered ranch and ketchup, but was not told there was an upcharge. As the waitress was taking my order, I changed to ketchup only, but was still charged for the ranch. It was not worth bringing it up for 50 cents. The fries were fried perfectly, pun intended. Chicken Pot Pie - Looked huge, but the bowl was VERY misleading. More crust and very shallow, and the filling was VERY watered down. My buddy did NOT enjoy this at all. And to wash it all down, I actually got the Raspberry Red Ale which after tasting both of the reds (my usual Irish Red Ale), the Raspberry won. My buddy got his usual Hop Tahoe IPA. The good news was that your beers were GOOD! Ambiance - Back parking lot, you need validation... After doing ALL that work, we realized that there was plenty of street parking and the front lot was easy parking; NO validation needed. Maybe add signs for future new customers to check for other spots before doing all that QR validation parking paperwork. Table, booth, semi private, and bar seating. Two story building. Also a roof top patio seating, which was too cold today. See pictures. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm; Yelp hours differ slightly. Service - Door greeter; the hostess was nice. The waitress was also nice, and other than the honest ranch mistake charge, the experience was good. Finally made it to the Fox! My wife and I came in for a late lunch on a Saturday with our pup. I wasn't quite sure if dogs were allowed but we confirmed and they opened up the gate so we could head up to the top patio with her. We ordered some beers and they were quick to arrive. We put in our lunch order and it showed up quickly as well! The St Charles Burger was great, a nice standard burger that was juicy and flavorful. My wife ordered the wedge salad and we shared both which was a nice combination. We enjoyed the patio on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and it was nice to have a place to bring our puppy and enjoy a nice meal. Came here Friday night for an early dinner. The hostess was BEYOND sweet and accommodating. She let me know that there was a large party coming in and to order our food so it was out before it got too busy. Then, our waitress was incredibly kind as well. She gave us time to look over the menu, tell us about her favorite kind of wings and sauce, etc. she was patient while we were indecisive. The burger was great. We shared it with fries and it was plenty! But we couldn't pass up the wings. My favorite was the garlic Parmesan and it's served with ranch and blue cheese. I have heard amazing things about Fox's happy hour and finally decided to check it out. I visited on a Tuesday around 3 pm. We weren't told about any happy hour specials and they seemed to have been removed from the website so I guess Fox isn't doing happy hour anymore? Regardless, we had a great time at Fox! Both the host and server were super friendly and attentive. We ordered the apricot blonde and the seasonal English beer. Both were great beers and much needed after a long workday. We ended up spending about 2 hours hanging out and enjoying our beers. We'll definitely be back when the weather is nicer so we can enjoy the upstairs seating! read more

The waffle fries with the Irish nachos were old (which is the main component of the dish) and the pot pie was bland. But hey, the food came out an hour later, so they were obviously struggling. We decided to stop by this brewery to try out their nachos. I have to say that this was the smallest incomplete plate of nachos that I have ever seen. They had grilled some chicken and threw on top. There was very little cheese a little scoop of sour cream and no salsa whatsoever and barely any cheese. Absolutely terrible. I would never go back again $17 for a plate of chips. Have wanted to try this restaurant for a while and so we were able to try it out for a late lunch today. Visited several times when it was Silver Peak 2. The restaurant is a pub and distillery therefore there is a large selection of beers to try. There are also some signature cocktails and wines available. The menu is quite nice with lots of selections from appetizers to sandwiches and salads to main courses. We decided, after the server recommended us, the pastrami and the fox dip sandwich. They were served with a large pile of french fries and sauces. We also tried the garlic fries which were very, very garlicky. Our server was very pleasant and friendly and attentive. The restaurant was full today but we only had a very short wait. The food was quickly served, piping hot and delicious. The sandwiches are quite large for the $17 to $19 price tag. I really enjoyed it. I think we will go back soon. There is free street parking as well as to parking lots on each side of the building. Let's get into the amazingness: Irish Nachos: the cheese was melted beautifully on top of crispy waffle fries and topped with sour cream, real bacon pieces, and green onions. Nice twist to your traditional Nachos. Pastrami Sandwich: OMG! The pastrami was to die for. I could eat the pastrami alone it was so yummy! It wasn't your average thin deli slices. They were thick slices with great flavor. The toasted sourdough, mustard and pickles complimented the meat exceptionally. I would order this again and again and again! California Turkey Melt: Hearty yet sweet. The mango chutney gave it a sweet kick and partnered well with the jack cheese, turkey and toasted sourdough. Great flavor! Both sandwiches came with fries and we asked to cook them extra crispy and they were exactly how we ordered them. Crunchy! It came with a side of ranch and ketchup, which were both great. They also brought out some chiptole mayo, which was also really good. French fry dip option heaven! Now to probably the best part of our experience... the service! I am very familiar with the Fox Restaurant in Carson City! This isn't Carson City's Fox! It is amateur hour! I guess being close to the college and fraternities might have rubbed off on the people that work there, but when the bartender goes to the kitchen to fetch our food, I notice he might have stopped off and done pots and pans before coming back. Dress appropriately sir! Speaking of appropriate. We were there on Saint Patties day and my wife ordered an Irish coffee! Yep my man brought a regular coffee mug with black coffee and served it up! Nice speciality drink ! I asked the gentleman behind the bar wouldn't you think the price you pay for specialty drink would come in a glass and some whipped cream. How has The Fox been here and I didn't know it? We have been to the one in Carson City numerous times, so when I heard someone recently talking about the Midtown location, I had to come and check it out. First of all, I love the location. Not on a main street, but still easily accessible. There is also plenty of parking both in the front and back of the restaurant. We entered through the bar and were quickly greeted and seated at the tables near the bar. It was an early Monday evening, so not too many people when we got there, but they did eventually have a steady dinner crowd. I ordered a Classic Burger and my husband ordered the Monday Special, The Steak and Mushroom Pie. All of the food was really tasty. Unfortunately, my fries were over-cooked and when they got cold, they got hard (not a big enough deal to lower my rating and an easy fix). The rest of our experience was great. Our Server, Ryan was outstanding and was happy to talk to us about The Fox and some of its history. The place itself is huge and has so much potential. The dining room next to the bar has booth seating and the upstairs is perfect for large parties. There is apparently also an outside rooftop area that I didn't get to see. All in all, we had a great experience and plan to return again. We especially want to return to order from the Daily Specials Menu, which seems to have truly unique dishes. read more

First, I was seated upstairs, which I asked for which was lovely and I was in the sun, which I realized probably wouldn't work for me long-term, but I was gonna wait till she came back with a water for me. Never happened. So I went downstairs and talked to a nice lady who seemed like she had everything together. I said can I just go ahead and order my lunch right now instead of waiting and she said sure so I ordered a burger and I said I can't have any onions cause that'll make me not feel well, and she asked if I wanted ranch and I said no I'll take ketchup the original fry sauce. Well, after quite a bit of time which I don't mind because the food is really high quality, I got my burger with not only the onions that comes with a normal burger. Also, the western bacon cheeseburger comes with some sort of fried onions too. So it was awful full of onions and I had ranch, and then so one of the servers came and I said hey, would you mind bringing me some ketchup and some Dijon mustard, and then she got involved in some conversation with another waiter about I don't know what, and they all wandered off and I said hey, can I have my Dijon mustard to go with this hot burger, and then they just disappeared. I saw the original lady and she got me the Dijon mustard and some ketchup. Then at the end, I looked at the ticket and I told her I said I'm surprised that it also says Ranch and she told me well. I write it down as you say it so but we got it all worked out. Basically call me a liar. I never have onions. I always ask no onions and I always ask for ketchup every time. Everywhere I go. I don't accidentally forget not to have onions because they'll make me sick. By the way, I never do reviews. The Fox has my heart. First, it's in Midtown and has reliable parking with the front door lot, back lot, and ample street non-metered options. Second, the food portions are huge, especially the burgers. Third, and most importantly, they have two upstairs tables that can seat 12 people. Now don't you go over there without giving them ample warning, OK? Let's be decent and considerate. On two occasions, I was able to go to the Fox with large groups, and they accommodated us like champs. With one group, I was able to even successfully do a Zoom call such that the one person who couldn't be remote could still participate in the group discussion over food and drinks. We were seated quickly, I barely had a chance to look at menu when the server arrived to ask about drinks. We weren't ready, but it took her 7 minutes to get back to us. We were on the roof deck, with 6 other tables. The one table got up to look for her, but she was inside the building. I am guessing they are short staffed. She did get our orders and cleared a table of some dishes. Sadly, it pretty windy and the glasses holding down menus that were still at a table. She left leaving them behind. The wind decided to help her with them. I got up to pick them as the table near us was watching them launch. I finally got up and placed them in their server's room, as she was never going to take them. We have definitely got the impress she hates her job. We came because we saw the posts over the weekend. The beer is great! The food was fabulous. We had a Santa Fe Chicken wrap and fish and chips. The wrap was so tasty. It was spicy and loaded. The fish was super crispy, yet soft snd flakey on the inside, and not greasy. The fries were a little soft on both entrees. BUT WAIT, we have gotten a shift change. The young woman that brought our food and took over service on the deck was awesome! She was so friendly and efficient. She immediately started interacting with all the tables and clearing tables immediately after they they left. We had decided we would never return, but Autumn totally changed our mind. Unfortunate experience with our visit today (3/24); we frequent Fox as the food and atmosphere is usually very appealing. Today however, we waited 15 minutes before we saw a server which was frustrating and the visit took another turn when our entree was brought, after another 40 minute wait, extremely undercooked. The batter on our fish was raw on the inside, almost as if the oil was to hot so it cooked externally but not internally and the fries were burnt as well. We were able to speak with a manger who offered to remove the entree from our bill, which was very kind, just unfortunate overall. Our experience is usually great but, today fell flat. We went there a few a Sunday's ago at lunchtime for the first time. It was somewhere I had wanted to try. There were 4 of us. We were seated quickly and our waitress took our drink order. We weren't ready to order food yet so she did come back in a timely fashion to see if we were ready, which we were. Up until this point, things were going okay. It was starting to get busier, tables around us were filling up. They had a group sit behind us - very close- so not much room at all between the chairs at each table. We ended up getting up and moving our table forward a bit to allow both tables more room. Appetizers were brought out and we were asked if we'd like another round of drinks. Three of our party's lunch came to the table...drinks finally came, but not all at the same time. The waitress did not check on us for quite a while. Still no food for #4 of our party. The rest of the group had probably gotten through half of their lunch when she finally checked on us. We told her we were still missing a lunch. Hmmm she came back pretty quickly with it and the food was not hot. The plate had obviously been sitting for quite awhile under a heat lamp. It was not good at that point. She did apologize and offered to bring us one free dessert for our inconvenience. She checked on us again but at this point I think we were all just ready to leave. We had our food boxed up. She asked what dessert we wanted. None of us wanted dessert so we asked her, if she could just remove the order that was delayed. She did do this. Maybe they were short staffed? This is a prime location for a brewery, and The Fox is a great part of the MidTown food scene. This place has always been solid. My friends and I were looking for lunch and some pints, and we knew immediately this would be the perfect choice. The menu has a lot of pub favorites; burgers, sandos, pizzas, salads, and so on. A little bit of something for everyone, including a decent kids menu for those in our group toting along their little ones. Don't forget the appetizers, as the Irish Nachos and the Cheese Curds are always fantastic choices. And personally, I also recommend the Bread Pudding from the dessert section. The selection of beer is also pretty good, with maybe a dozen or so of their beers on tap, a few guest brews, and a full bar. This is one of those breweries that make some of the best easy drinking beers in town. The Buzzed Bee is a perpetual favorite, as it is light, refreshing, and the perfect thing to have a few pints of. I also enjoy the Karma Sutro, a delightful pale ale, and the Hop Tahoe is a very solid IPA. Price-wise, I'd say everything is on par with most other brewpubs in our area. Service here has always been quite good. They are prompt, polite, and on the ball. Just keep in mind thins can back up a little on especially busy days. There is plenty of parking available. And the building itself is one of my favorite spots around to go have a drink and a bite. In particular, when the weather is nice, you definitely want to sit up on their amazing roof deck. We returned to The Fox mainly to try the Chicken Piccata Thursday special as this is one of my husband's and mine favorite dishes. Started with a really decent old fashioned-my favorite cocktail. The chicken piccata and the pasta and bread accompanying it were very good but there were no capers which is part of what makes the dish so good. However, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the lemony sauce was great so we definitely enjoyed the meal. I have some leftovers and will be adding some capers.
