Pigeon Head Brewery is a true gem. Been telling people for years that anyone looking for good beer should have this place near the top of their list. They specialize in lagers, but over the years their menu has expanded to include all sorts of other styles. Suffice to say, you're going to find something you love here. Some of my perpetual favorites are their Pilsner, which is a very good easy-drinking beer. Add to that selections like their delicious Black Lager, their very outstanding Silver Sage Pale Ale, and their delicious Jalapeno/Habanero beer. And don't skip out on any of their seasonal brews, either, as the crew here are always cooking up something new and exciting to try. Plus, they have a fair portion of their menu available in cans to-go, and can do growlers and growlers to order. I also just love the vibe and energy at this place. It's very chill, cozy, and friendly in the extreme. Between the fantastic staff and the cadre of regulars, it has that real "local pub" sort of feel to it. You can hang out, play a few bar games, watch whatever sport is on the TV, or go sit outside in their wonderful beer garden if the weather is nice. All this ism plus they have events on a semi-regular basis like bar trivia, food-and-beer pairings, Grateful Dead night, or food truck pop-ups. So keep your eyes on their online calendars. Prices for everything are pretty much on par with other breweries and craft bars in town, starting around $8 per pint. There is no real food available here betond a selection of chips, nuts, and admittedly excellent beef jerky. But there are some food options fairly close by to either walk to or get delivered. Parking is usually pretty easy, too, either in their small lot or in street spaces. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Pigeon Head is my favorite brewery in our region. I've been a fan of them for years, and I hope more folks can discover them as well. In the last year or so, I really feel the energy of the Brewery District has shifted east to land along the Wells Ave corridor, with these guys being one of my favorite frequent haunts. Cool craft brewery that prides itself on lagers. If you know, you know...IPAs and Ales are quick and easy to turn over in less than a month. Lagers take a lot of time and require "Lagering" and you really have to know what you're doing as a brewer to be good at this. So, that's why you see so many breweries with 12 different IPAs or Pale Ales.....easy and quick and can reuse the yeast. This place is legit. They had a blood orange pale, a jalapeño/habanero IPA, a Karen, two different kolschs, and 5 different lagers in addition to a Pilsner. They have happy hour min-Fri from 2-5 and specials everyday except Fri and sat. Thursdays are the best...$10 growler fills. I will be back!!! read more

A lot has changed since they first opened. Thankfully even more beer varieties, A+. Friendly beerman. Awesome gravel floor Bier Garten outside. The beer prices are actually so reasonable for their serving size. Drive in straight parking and street parking available. Lots of art on the interior walls to look at. More of a venue to drink and talk. There is also another brewery nearby to make it a proper beer crawl but with this Pigeon's beer selection, it makes it hard to leave. read more

The Pigeon Head Pilsner is my favorite beer--hands down. If I see that a restaurant or bar has it on tap, then I will choose it nearly every time. With that being said I rarely make it out to the taproom, but when I do I am reminded that Pigeon Head makes several other types of beers, including award winning ones! The taproom is simple and cozy. The patio is almost always shady with the help of the Wells Avenue bridge. I have recently started following Pigeon Head on social media which gives me information about new beer releases and upcoming events. Events range from special releases to pop-up food events with local and traveling chefs to hosting local birding groups. Considering the wide array of events Pigeon Head hosts, I really do not know why I don't pop by the taproom more often. An afternoon at Pigeon Head's taproom with a flight of unique and award winning beers is a wonderful way to pass some time. But if you can't make it to the taproom, then I would recommend keeping an eye out for local distributors of their beer. If you see the Pilsner on tap somewhere, definitely give it a shot! read more

I love Pigeon Heads beer. They are small brewery tucked in the Brewery district of 4th Street. The interior is cozy but plenty of seating. I often get their flights which are only $10 for four pours. On my latest visit we grabbed some beers and one flight to try some of the newer things. I was shocked at how good the Imperial Hefe was at over 12% ABV! My only complaint would be that there is an older bartender that comes across as somewhat cranky which impacts service a bit. The other bartenders have all been great! read more

Hate to give such a low star to this place..... The bartender was super nice and she did a Fantastic job. The issue was when these random people wanted to set up food on a table we were using. The brewery is tucked back a little bit in the brewery district, but the recently renovated outdoor/Biergarten area has really elevated the space! The outdoor area is both kid and dog-friendly, and all around it's a nice, chill vibe. The owner seems awesome, he collaborates with local, small non-profits for beer releases and events. Quality/Quantity - Got a flight today - Silver Sage Pale Ale, Jalapeno/Habanero IPA (my favorite, got a 4 pk), Oktoberfest Lager, and of course, my Red Rye Lager. All was good, but the Jalapeno/Habanero IPA was amazing! Decent selection overall. Atmosphere - Small brewery. But large sales. :) Well, I can buy them from Costco at times. Oh, not easy to find, well at least not easy for my GPS, they are under the overpass. Indoor, outdoor seating. Free wifi, if you can figure it out... Cool decor and art. Open 7 days a week, see my picture, Yelp, or their website. Small parking lot in front, but I came early (no HH here) so typically plenty of parking. Service - Service was okay, not good or bad. Loyalty program, see pictures. Promotions, today was 25% off cans which I took advantage of! Thursdays are the best deals in my opinion. $10 growlers! I really enjoyed my first visit to this terrific brewery in Reno. I immediately liked the quirky decor, that really leans into the Pigeon Head name. The beertender was friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt with greeting us and suggesting samples if we were unsure of what to try. I selected a delicious blonde ale called Honey Nut Beerios. It was an excellent choice. They have plenty of seating options at the bar, at tables in the brewery, or the spacious beer garden. They have board games, dart boards, and corn hole as well. We love Pigeon Head! The beers are really good and the new beer garden is such a nice addition. The summer pineapple basil is definitely my favorite seasonal (besides the peach cobbler they did years and years ago that I dream about lol). We've been loving the flight nights they've been doing too! Outside of just loving the place to go when we need a beer we also rented the tap room for a party and all of our friends were in love. Pigeon Head is still a fantastic brewery. I had to get my fav, the Silver Sage Pale, but we also tried the Pilsner, the Black Lager, and the Kolsch. For me, I think the best breweries can make a solid Pilsner. There's nothing to hide behind in Pils and I like mine clear and crispy. As much as I loved the Silver Sage, I would also gladly drink Pigeon Heads Pilsner on the regular. We also bought several 4 packs and while they didn't last long, they were fresh and delicious and that says a lot about the quality and consistency of this brewery. Pigeon Head really just continues to hit the mark and is definitely one of our go to's when in Reno. We also had great service and a lot of fun hanging out :) I first tried the Silver Sage two years ago and I STILL talk about how unique and delicious it is. I love the Red Rye. My husband loves the pineapple basil. The service is good and the bathrooms are clean.

Stopped in to try a limited edition beer, got to try their Berry Tea Kolsh which was fantastic. Loved the flavors of the berry and tea, it definitely worked well. I just got a cider that wasn't from this brewery so nothing to gloat about but enjoyed the Kolsh very much. Service was decent, didn't chat too much but provided good service. The inside of the brewery is cool, I liked the wooden tables inside. Be aware though it's located in a sketch part of the city so you may run into some unexpected personalities. A patron at another local brewery recommended Pigeon Head for a good selection of "lighter stuff." After a few tastes, my wife and I both decided to buck that trend and go with their Wee Heavy and Turkish Coffee Lager. Both were spot on! The bartender was friendly and helpful with our selections. The location was a little concerning as we were on foot and the local homeless population was seemingly staged around every corner, but my risk aversion decreases with beer quality and PH made the trek worthwhile. read more

Another Reno brewery. It happens to be near lots of others east of downtown. Pigeon Head has a nice variety of styles. Has something for everyone's tastes, and it's a cool place for hanging out. They have pretty good prices. I have tried this a few times with the girl and the last time was one afternoon. One of the good things about this is you can go here and then go to a few more breweries because there's a lot. This is one of the best ones. Atmosphere is very cool. The styles they have are all some type of lager. Even so they have lots of different flavors. Get something light or heavy. A few include coffee, porter, and rye among the styles and these were all good. They don't have a huge beer menu but you can find something. I like the Turkish Coffee Black Lager. It's about $6 a pint. This is a Schwarzbier infused with local Magpie Pica Pica coffee and spices. It's a very fucking strong beer. There's hints of allspice, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, coconut, and vanilla. Sure has lots of flavors. They may have dumped in a whole spice rack when they created it. Finding it can be hard. It's kind of hidden and you need to look for it. They don't have food usually but sometimes they have snacks and other times there's food trucks. read more

The atmosphere and service were great. We shared 2 flights=8 tasters. I came in excited to see what else they had to offer as the Pilsner can be found all over town and often is my draft beer of choice. Personally, I was disappointed. Of 8 beers, non were undrinkable, but non resonated with me. From the black lager to the award wining sage pale ale, nothing stood out. I can't address the entire beer menu, but what I had I really liked. Admittedly a beer snob, I like IPA's; I should have had a flight but I opted for a pint and two tastes, all good! Their Fly By Night IPA was as good as any I've ever had. If you want something with a kick (besides alcohol) go for the Jalepeno habanero. Last but certainly not least was the IPL (L for Lager) which, if you like hoppy beers, was super smooth and not as bitter as some IPA's. Too bad the casinos don't support the local beer community more, they really need places like this and not the usual fare! I was surprised at the number of pigeons I saw flying around outside in the area. Don't they know any better? The humans certainly know better, that is if they're coming inside for a few brews. The space is neat, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Being a fan of darker beers, I was disappointed that there were no porters or stouts available. But that Turkish Coffee Black Lager was really interesting, like nothing I've previously had. For me, it actually tasted like it could work as a digestif (which for me is a plus). Flights are also available and very reasonably priced. It's a bit of a walk to get here from other "nearby" breweries, but in nice weather, it's a very enjoyable walk. read more
