I had never heard of Underworld Distillery until a couple of days prior to stepping inside. The atmosphere inside is dark, inviting, and absolutely perfect for date night, a night out with friends, or even to check out their impeccable calendar of events while enjoying a hand-crafted cocktail/mocktail. IF you choose one of their cocktails, they're made with the spirits they distill. They also sell bottles of what they distill. The bartenders, Kaitlynn (sp) and Colby, were friendly and personable. There was another woman behind the counter but I forgot to ask for her name. They also hosted an awesome art vendor in their back room who was selling framed bugs and preserved skulls. I will absolutely go back when time permits. Don't let the location fool you. This is absolutely one of the premier bars in Northern Nevada. read more

Very fun atmosphere. It definitely gives vibes like the Vampire cafe in New Orleans. Love all the antique furniture and places to lounge. Good mix of private and intimate and more open spaces to hang out. The bartender was very friendly and quick to acknowledge me and get my drink made. They distill all their own spirits which is neat. I had an old fashioned with their bourbon. It was decent but a bit too sweet for an old fashioned. Next I decided to try their bourbon straight on the rocks which I would not recommend. It's quite ethanol tasting and lacking the smooth bourbon taste. I'm no connoisseur but I do like a good smooth bourbon. This tasted like it just wasn't quite finished enough, maybe pulled too early from the barrels or something. Next time I will try the vodka. I do wish they had some other options like wine. While I love bourbon, whiskey and vodka it is hard to sit and drink the harder spirits for several hours and chat with friends then need to drive. A glass of wine would be a great option to have. Overall, I really like this place. I'm hopeful that over time as their spirit making becomes more seasoned the better things will taste. I'm also hopeful that over time the cocktail mixing will get better especially on classics like an old fashioned. I was surprised that a place where they make their own spirits didn't have a solid old fashioned especially since they're very "in style" right now. From movie nights, trivia, to drag shows, or just a drink at the bar, you will enjoy your time here. This spooky tucked away bar is not only cryptidly cute in decoration, but also offer reasonably priced spooky cocktails and mocktails. All I can say is Underworld is an awesome find! The outside of the building is a bit discreet, but inside it's an eclectic, dark (for good reason) and speak-easy type ambience...and I love it! The menu is vast with plenty of options, which is nice to read through all the carefully created and crafted drinks. I wasn't sure what to expect from a bar on Louie Lane, hidden among warehouses and auto shops. Imagine my surprise when my husband and I opted to check it out. What a fantastic spot! Delicious craft cocktails and a long list of mocktails were available. Prices are reasonable and you can even order a charcuterie board if you need a bite. The bartenders itself embraces the macabre, with plenty of skulls and rib cages decorating the area. The Victorian era furnishings and dark colors had it serving haunted mansion. I loved it! Visited with interest in purchasing local rum as a gift. The tasting flight was super generous - more than enough for two of us to share. The rums are all very smooth and distinctively flavorful. The whole underworld theme of the place is actually quite welcoming as are the bartenders. You can find it on Louie, hidden in the industrial ish street just off Longely/mccarren. A dark and intimate distillery in an unsuspecting place. Robbie and the lovely ladies behind the bar really set the tone for this place. Welcoming people and drinks to make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. I sampled every spirit they have including their new Absinthe and one still in the works. The gin here is the closest I have found to Irish gin, whilst I haven't found a local vodka that I like in this town, this one took the crown for smoothest vodka in northern Nevada. They carry three different types of rum, crossroads, spiced rum and a stout rum. All extremely good. If you're looking for a great rum espresso martini, you'll find it here. Not a bourbon fan but the bourbon here is sip-able and extremely pleasant. I didn't try any cocktails but I did watch them make many and after reading through the selection, the bar maidens really have a great palette and understand complimentary flavors. When it comes to craft cocktails, this place got it going on. This is a small batch distillery and Robbie, owner and distiller, enjoys experimenting and finding ways to incorporate community and local partnerships to get unique spirits on the shelf. OMG, another great find, do I dare share ? I will shall, but you better save me a seat. UD is a woman owned small batch craft distillery creating vodka, gin, rum and whiskey. The distillery has a cocktail lounge at the entrance, enjoy it. I discovered it during a special event- Broomsticks and Booze. So my review isn't based on their usual service. But here's my take. The lounge is pretty damn awesome. Dark and old school Interview with a Vampire. Set up in three separate seating areas. There's a really cool private room to the left. On my visit it was used for tarot readings. Love the decor!!! The cocktail menu takes a few minutes. Take your time and really appreciate the options. UD has created a page of specialty cocktails using each of their spirits. The staff, as packed as the event was was pretty good about answering questions. On my visit I tried the Charybdis Blood, a very blue, sparkling, and unique combination. Delicious. And the Witch's Cosmo, UD's twist on a devine cosmopolitan. I recommend both or either. I am a vodka girl, so I asked for a sip of their Shade Vodka- wow. I think I just found my new martini vodka. Smooth and not overpowering, perfect for the straight up sipping. I bought a bottle for home. Take the time to discover this spot, it's located in an industrial area south of the airport Louie Lane. The lounge is open Wednesday through Saturday 4 pm to 10 pm. Went to Underworld for the first time last night and loved it! The location is the least exciting part, in a business park on a rather dull side of town. It's very unassuming from the outside, but when you step inside you become transported! The dark, goth theme is rather welcoming, with plenty of unique seating and friendly bartenders. I don't frequent distilleries as I'm not a huge lover of cocktails, but I was pleased to see a beer selection (cans only), and the mocktail prices were really reasonable (for my pregnant sister). We were there for 'Haunted Cinema: The Craft', and I would like to go back again for another movie night! Next time I will get there much earlier, it was quite busy and seating was limited. read more

This is such a great hidden gem. Locally owned and family operated distillery and bar with a great aesthetic and comfortable vibe. The gothic/macabre decor gives this place its name, but it is very warm and inviting with wonderful scenery to make it interesting. I love walking around and discovering all of the hidden treasures. The distilled spirits are very good with great care taken with the process. The bartender (who is the creator of the fantastic menu) is friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Everything is made in house using fresh ingredients and crafted flavors. I opted for a flight of the spirits and the bartender's choice for a cocktail. Everything was wonderful. Ok, I have been here 2 Saturdays in a row and can definitely say that this is my current favorite bar in Reno. For me personally this bar had the perfect vibes as soon as I walked with their tasteful gothic decor and vintage furniture. Of course the star of the show is the fabulous and inventive cocktails. So far my faves are the seasonal Twisted Spring Old Fashioned, the Hades Nectar and Blood and Sand. My wife loves their Memento Mori which is super tasty. And of course the master crafters of these fabulous cocktails, Colleen and Robby, are attentive and very friendly. They also have several fun events and food trucks on Saturdays. Ugh, sooo good! We actually went on opening night and it was already hoppin' at 5pm. We came in and easily found a seat at the bar. The ambiance is totally my scene. Black with dark reds and big cozy couches, mirrors and moody artwork. Definitely feels like the kind of place you could be comfortable in for hours. Colleen, our bar tender, was so helpful and friendly. There was an issue with an extra charge on my card and Colleen totally went the extra mile to make sure it got straightened out, and absolute rock stair! We split a flight of 6 different spirits that were delightful and have since bought a bottle of the rum and the Grim Chocolatier. I also enjoyed a Tempest that was a delight. Underworld Distillery prides itself on crafting all its alcohol in-house, a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity. Underwood Distillery is a new spot that just opened and I am so glad it did! This place is a distillery that also has a cocktail lounge. While the hours say they're open at 9 am, that is for the distillery. The cocktail lounge doesn't open until 3:30. All of the cocktails are made with liquor that is distilled at the location. We tried 4 different drinks while we were there and loved them all! Persephone's Descent was my favorite of the four, but all of them were delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. The folks that run Underworld Distillery are all so wonderful and friendly. They took the time to chat with us and tell us more about the distillery and what they hope to do in coming months. They have a few events lined up in the coming weeks so be sure to check those out. We visited on a Friday around 4 pm and there were a couple other parties there, but it wasn't too loud or rowdy at all. I am not sure how it is later in the night, but it was the perfect place to relax, grab a few drinks, and just hang out. We came in like a wrecking ball and they handled it like champs! A group of about 25 of us showed up on a Saturday night around 9pm to find an empty bar which we filled it up fast. They had just sent their other bartender home for the night, but fortunate for us, this bartender designed the menu and could sling some drinks, making quick work of our large group! Color me VERY impressed! I'd seen Underworld on Yelp a few times and was happy to have visited. The vibes are top notch, really playing into the dark and moody, goth branding in a very classy way, and the cocktails are named and present in a similar fashion, looking like they'd fit in any high end cocktail bar. There's even a small private room off the main bar behind a red velvet curtain which provides a bit of intimacy for a group of about 10 too. All together it will have you forgetting that you're in an industrial complex in Reno as soon as you step through the door! All of the drinks feature the spirits made at this distillery as the base but they really build on some complex and creative flavors from there. Interesting amaros, unique infused simple syrups, lively liquors and more all accentuate the spirits in these drinks, and show the level of cocktail experience behind the menu. Again, I was impressed, but the spirits do show their youthful nature, and as someone who typically sips neat or enjoys something very spirit forward, that does take a bit from the final product. That said, there was a lot of promise here and I loved the experience and hope to return soon. This is a great spot to find your way to and I hope you will do just that! read more

This venue is kind of tucked away, but if one follows the glowing green light the treasure is found. Definitely feels like a local spot. I have previously come When the Reno Ghost Tours staff spoke about tools and tips needed in conducting a Paranormal investigation. This time I jumped on the short week and took advantage of the comedy night- ladies in free!! Definitely worthwhile to come in early to grab preferred seating, I love the chair styles and how it's dimly lit. I went with the Boo Bitch drink and had to get a second as it was that good, another friend of mine threw back three so they were that good! The laughs, and audience interaction of being able to ask a question - any question was great. When I came previously the drink was not for me but so glad I found something else that hit the spot. My 80s emo heart has found a new favorite place. Underworld Distillery's goth influences and sense of humor made me feel right at home, and their drinks were sophisticated and well balanced. The cocktail menu shows an awareness of flavors and how the different spirits--made on site--influence each one. I had an excellent Old Fashioned with a smoked cherry wood scent, and usually I don't like smoky flavors, but Underworld balanced the drink so well that the smoke enhanced, rather than overpowered, the cocktail. The service is friendly and professional and makes you feel like you're far from a nuisance. My friends and I were looking forward to visiting this bar since it is new in town and the decor looked fun and gothic. We made a reservation for a Friday night at 7pm. I messaged them an hour prior that we would be in more around 7:30pm and they acknowledged this. I appreciated their prompt response. We actually ended up arriving closer to our originally scheduled reservation time and the inside was very dark and much on theme for the Underworld name. Unfortunately when we came in, there was no hostess or anyone to direct us. I went to the bar to ask about reservation seating and my friends went to sit down. It was hard to tell where people were sitting or not because everyone was at the bar and the seating areas had not been bused/checks still left on the table. They only had two people working the bar so I am going to assume someone called out sick. I had a friend stand beside me at the bar who is extremely tall. Tall enough that it would turn an eye or you would think get the bartenders' attention. We stood there for almost ten minutes and the two bartenders never once acknowledged us or looked our way. Again, I believe they were short staffed but to have stood there for ten minutes and never once be greeted or a "we'll be right with you," is not good customer service. I also don't understand the reservation system if they don't have someone to seat you. At that point, it is open seating. My friends and I ultimately ended up leaving and walking out so I cannot comment on the drinks. Also, it was strange that there was no music playing. I would think lofi or something possibly but all you could hear were people talking. Poor customer service though and I am extremely disappointed because I was looking forward to checking it out. read more
