My husband and I came for happy hour, and it was a disaster from start to finish. We ordered almost everything on the menu, and not a single dish was decent. The oysters were clearly not fresh, the shrimp pantoast was bland and unappealing, and the shrimp cocktail was soggy. The lobster roll was the worst of all--no real lobster flavor, just a heavy mayonnaise taste masking everything. For the prices they charge, this level of quality is unacceptable. Fun little restaurant in the nugget in sparks, NV. Pretty delicious clam chowder served with a half of warm bread. The night I went, I sat at the bar and ordered and appetizer, specialty drink, and clam chowder. The ladies serving food were nice and very attentive. I would go back and get the clam chowder as part of their happy hour special. Definitely worth trying if you're staying at the hotel. read more

Decided to go to the cool new magic show at the Nugget and wanted to eat in at the casino. This place has been around for quite some time and gave it a try. We enjoyed the jambalaya and the very rich mixed seafood pan roast. The bread is awesome at this place as well as the oysters which were very good. We enjoyed a reasonably priced wine and good service. The atmosphere is a little older but fitting for the inside of a pirate ship and didn't detract from our fun meal. Food was amazing and service, only thing is at the end of checking out online shows if you show a NV ID you will get a local discount apparently because I live in Las Vegas we couldn't get a discount, kinda crazy if the website say present a NV ID you can get it. Came for the Happy Hour but it changed on the Friday before. Now its a sushi and oyster bar. Had the AYCE and was good not exceptional. The miso soup was not hot but the sushi rolls were decent. The salmon skin salad was different but we had to ask for the dressing. Service was good but the area is not very large. Check it out. read more

Chose the Oyster Bar for Friday lunch after searching for the new Legends OysterBar and stumbing upon the Nugget Oyster Bar. The pics looked fun and the menu had the raw bar we were looking for, so we stopped in. Not very busy and seated right away. Staff followed closely with water and menus. Service was great thru out lunch. We ordered a dozen oysters -- Blue Points that were some of the meatiest we have ever had. Excellent! Both my husband and I ordered the Fisherman's Combo. The fries are forgettable, but the seafood was terrific - and just the right portion for lunch. The calamari was thick-cut strips, the shrimp were small but tasty, and the cod pieces had the best batter. Only knock is the beer selection - no drafts and the menu listing was inaccurate as to the bottles available. Wine selection was great -- three choices for reisling -- and the pour was heavy. We were really excited to come here before the comedy show, but unfortunately we were far from impressed. The restaurant was basically like being inside a shop which was cool. The service was awkward at best. Our server (Donna) seemed a bit all over the place. Maybe overwhelmed? We ordered the crab cake nuggets that come with remoulade sauce and lemon. The basket came out with French fries too. However, there was no remoulade sauce and we had to ask for lemon. When our server returned we asked about both and she was confused. She didn't even know what the sauce was that we asked about so she went to check only to comeback and say it's a new item on the menu and we don't have that sauce yet, but offered us tarter sauce. We also ordered a Caesar salad and a house salad. The Caesar salad seemed fine, but the house salad was lackluster and tasted like the American salad mix you get at a local grocery store. We were told the French fries were not frozen and beer battered then cooked, but rather fresh cut with some skin still showing and really taste like potatoes. The shrimp étouffée was not great...it wasn't really an étouffée. Let's just say New Orleans would be very disappointed. We also had a lobster roll. I'm sad to report it was not good. It was extremely salty. I even put lemon on it in hopes it would help but all I could taste was salt. I only had a couple bites and tried to keep eating but couldn't. Thankfully they removed it from our bill. We did order some clam chowder, which was the saving grace for the meal. We will not be in a rush to return. read more

We made a reservation for 6pm as we had to be out of the restaurant by 7:15 for an 8pm show. The restaurant was not busy and we were seated right away at 6:05pm. We told the waitress we were ready to order right away and did so at 6:10. No salads or apps , just our entree. We waited patiently, but at 6:55 we finally asked where is our food. The waitress said, "oh, they are cooking it now". What were they doing for the last 50 minutes? Anyway, the food came out at 7:05 and it was very good, but we could not eat it, or take it with us because we were going straight to the show. The Oyster Bar is still KILLING it for Happy Hour food and drinks! The Nugget has a special place in my heart because Hubby & I got married there, up at the Poolside Terrace waaaay back in '08. So, I'm happy to share that it's still as wonderful as it's always been and to see that the happy hour menu is robust, very affordable and still features all our faves. Still the BEST seafood pan roast! This used to be our favorite place to go when it was cold out when we liked in Sparks. Since moving to South Reno, we usually go to the Atlantis which I a decent substitute. Today we found ourselves near the Nugget and decided to have lunch at the Oyster Bar. We ordered our usual of a house salad with Louie dressing and a combination pan roast (no oysters) to share. The bread - always a favorite- came out first. Fresh inside and crunchy crust- perfect! Next was the salad... split on two plates without even asking! The lettuce was fresh and crispy. The dressing has some spice in it that didnt fit my palette, so I did not finish it. The pan roast came next served in two bowls - without having to ask again!! Love the attention to detail. The taste was perfect , with shrimp and chunks of crab. We were so happy that the recipe hadn't changed! One sad thing is there are no longer stools at the counter where the pan roasts were made. We used to love sitting there and watching the pan roasts, shrimp for scampi and Cioppino's being made. Our server Natalia was very attentive and helpful. Glad we had a fantastic lunch! read more

We scheduled a reservation weeks before a show nearby and upon arrival discovered we had to wait in a huge line with other folks who also had reservations to be seated. After 30 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave to try and find food elsewhere. I felt really bad for the kids dressed up in front of us who looked like they were headed to prom and were still 20 people deep in line when we left. Unfortunately, all the surrounding restaurants had 2 hour waits and we ended up having to eat dry burgers at the show venue. We stopped here on a Wednesday for happy hour for my mothers 55th birthday! We ordered almost everything on the happy hour menu and were pretty impressed! The oysters were delicious and the lemon oil we put on everything else. The clams were so good we got three orders. My husband's favorite was the clam chowder and fish tacos, which everyone ended up loving. The server was very kind but very busy. They gave her the entire happy hour section and bar area so service was lower but we don't blame her. Everything came out just fine and we had our waters and wine refilled. For 6 people, 4 of which drink, we had the bill only come to $150 with tip! The casino is always smokey so you have to sit in the smokey area to get the happy hour but it is okay for those prices! Inside of the restaurant looked nicer so we will have to sit there sometime when we don't go for happy hour. read more

Hubby and I came here last night for a date night dinner after playing some table games. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer which was yummy l! I ordered the shrimp scampi and husband ordered the gumbo both were super tasty! Service was good as well and we were seated right away! However I ordered the espresso martini which was delicious but when it came to the bill we were charged with 8$ harbtue fee what ever that is and a 12$ espresso martini fee we questioned it and the waitress told us the 8$ fee was for the vodka and the 12$ fee was the espresso martini, now I have never been charged this way and I have ordered a bunch of espresso martinis from other places this is why I'm giving the three stars just doesn't seem right and if it is it needs to get fixed so we don't think we are getting scammed! We came here to celebrate my son's graduation and and Virginia gave us amazing service! She was very welcoming and kind, checking on us to make sure we were ok, even with a busy night.. She recommended drinks and dishes which made it easy to decide since this was the first time here for me so it was a wonderful treat! First time to dine at the Oyster Bar at the Nugget Casino. Reservation made online with Open Table for 5:30. We originally thought we would do the Happy Hour from 4:00-6:00 at 50% off BUT the menu was too small. We decided to go into the main restaurant instead for the full menu. Many selections available and we decided on the seafood tower. Almost all the seafood group is represented in the picture to many to list. $150. Great service! We dropped in while in the area and decided to revisit one of our favorite places. We were pleasantly surprised to find out when we arrived their happy at the bar was back. Guess we had to sit at the bar. There were a few large parties, but it was just the two of us. The casino was quiet, so we didn't mind. Oysters were so so and the reason why we dropped in. With a bit of nostalgia, the oyster bar here is reminiscent of the trader Nicks in Pismo Beach. After doing a little research, I found out this place used to be called Trader Dicks. The Polynesian style and the core is almost a carbon copy. Probably Our go to place when we want lobster, crab, oysters, seafood cocktail... When we cannot make up our mind, we come here. Delicious! It's worth the hype and the wait if you want fresh seafood at reasonable prices. We came in closer to closing time, and the place was packed. All of the people working here were friendly and seemed to work well together. We started with the jerk shrimp salad and the half dozen oysters. This was a perfect way to start the meal alongside their warm, sourdough table bread. The salad was plenty for several people to share, and the dressing was unique and yummy! I thought it was odd for an oyster bar to only serve one type of oyster, but the varietal they picked out of Oregon was quite good - no complaints here! Oysters were medium in size and mild, not briny. We overdid the horseradish on a few oysters, and it was quite painful -- so be sure to use it sparingly! Next, we had the cioppino, bouillabaisse, and seafood extravaganza dishes. Everything was well seasoned, not overcooked, and presented beautifully. We had leftovers for lunch the next day and no room to try their desserts this visit. There will definitely be a next time, and I very much look forward to it! read more

Arrived at 5 p.m. to have an appetizer and drinks before a show. Waited 10 minutes before the bartender acknowledged us, and then she proceeded to tell us that it was going to be a long time before she could get to us (we were the only people seated at the bar). 15 minutes later, we tried to order a glass of wine. We were told there were no wine glasses. There were, in fact, two prominently displayed behind the bar, and when we asked if we could use those, we were told "those weren't for us." Haven't been to the oyster bar in years and decided to go today when my adult children were in town because it was one of our favorite places when they were smaller. It looks the same! The the same ship look, the same Marlin on the wall, and the same great food, including the wonderful French bread they serve in unlimited quantities. My only disappointment was that they no longer have the red chowder and only serve the white. The red chowder was their signature chowder, but I guess they removed it from the menu. Our server was gracious and around when we needed her. My son's lobster sandwich apparently came on the wrong roll and our server was quick to correct it and bring him another full sandwich. She also apologized profusely. All our meals were great. There were no complaints and we were totally satisfied when we left. The oyster bar is still, a five star restaurant and just as excellent as we remembered it. read more

We go here about 3 times a month. We love the servers, Saul, Lucky, and Sheree. They are the best! Always smiling and remembers what we like to order, even the extras! Do not get Fernando! He's always trying to up sale, makes everything sound great, than you get the check and OMG! He doesn't tell you that adding crab to your shrimp pan roast is an additional 16 dollars. We found out from one of our favorite servers to order the crab pan roast and add shrimp for 6 dollars more, it's a little less expensive. We love the Jalapeno Poppers, The Tempura Fried Jalapeno, Cream Cheese, Crab, Avacado, Siracha, and Sweet Sauce, OMG, sooooo good. We order them every time we go there. The Tempura Asparagus with garlic aioli is to die for. I have ordered the Mediterranean Calamari twice. The first time it was so good. The second time, not so much. The second time was way too breaded and fried way too long, so greasy . Anyways, the pot roasts are always great as with the Shrimp Louie Salad that I usually order, you get way more shrimp ordering that than ordering a salad with shrimp. A variety of bread with butter is brought to your table, we always order sourdough only. And they happily provide. The clam Chowder and Lobster Bisque is out of this world.
