Chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast platter
    Myrna S.

We headed to The Grille restaurant for breakfast/lunch, located inside the Gold Dust West Casino. When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly full of diners but the hostess was able to find an open table for our party of four in the back of the room. Our server, Maria, appeared with the menus and took our drink orders (iced teas, decaf coffee and ice waters). After a couple minutes, our server returned to get our food orders: fried clam and fries basket, chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast platter, waffles with a side of sausage, and a green-chile burger. After a short wait, Maria dropped off our food. My chicken fried steak was good (Gold Dust West still serves one of the best chicken fried steak in town), my niece and sister enjoyed each of their entrees but my brother-in-law's waffles and sausage was disappointing. The waffles were stale, the sausage was looked like there was a bite taken out of it and syrup was watery; it wasn't viscous at all. If I had seen a manager or another server, I would have encouraged my brother-in-law to send the food back and ask for a refund because his entree was just that terrible. So, overall, our dining experience was three hits and a miss-- definitely room for i

First not sure why it says closed because there wasn't any signs of construction or similar. Had a delicious lunch here-- I was pleasantly surprised! They offer the typical coffee shop in a casino options . They were offering a Brie and turkey sandwich special so I went with that. Loved it. My sandwich was made to perfection. I must admit I was worried the Brie cheese would be overwhelming but it was just the right portion. The fries were cooked to perfection and not super oily. Good ranch too! Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I'd definitely try it again and would recommend stopping by to check it out! Our server was attentive and friendly. Loved all the pictures of how Reno was back in the day-- very cool to see! Check them out!

This restaurant is inside the Gold Dust West in Reno. You have to walk through the casino to enter the restaurant. The casino was built in 1977. Yes, the building inside does look a little dated. This Casino and restaurant is 21 only. Therefore it has been many years since I have eaten here. This is one of the last places in Reno that still has decent prices. The wait staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Their Prime Rib dinner is $14.99. It includes a salad, dinner roll, choice of potato, and vegetables. The Prime Rib was tastier than some of the steakhouses around town. They also have a lobster and steak for $21.99. However, the steak was not as good as the Prime Rib. The lobster was good. My son loves to get their Philly Cheesesteak and ask for au jus on the side. This by the way was a suggestion of our waitress. He absolutely loves it. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every month the special meals change. For example, June's specials are a BBQ Brisket Sandwich and Fries for $10.99, Orzo Pasta with Chicken for $10.99, or an add-on of deep-fried shrimp for $4.99. The food and service is good.

Reno Locals, if you haven't discovered The Grille inside of Gold Dust casino just two blocks off Keystone right off the 80 freeway, get ready to add this to your dining rotation! We are weekly regulars here and the food is always great quality, fresh homemade taste and friendly service. It is generally a mature crowd and if you want to be in the OG local mix, this is the spot for you. Flannel plaid, jeans, and a baseball cap is the usual dress code. They can get pretty busy but generally the wait is not very long and they have a savvy texting waitlist if there is a wait. 20 minutes is our average if we are wait at all. Pre-pandemic they were 24 hours but now it is 6am-10pm daily. We sure miss those old late night/early morning hours. They make the best french toast in town and the chicken and waffles always hits the spot. I would say they are about as close to comfort food delicious home cooking as it gets: country fried steak, pot roast, and chicken noodle is my top 3 for this. Their potato skins must get mentioned! Once you've had this, it will be a tough act to follow. They no longer do take out orders but if you are dining in, you can order this to go, it is an easy snack to pop into the oven to heat up. They also still offer their reimagined free pie. Gold Dust and Grille is definitely your house full of friends and when you start coming here often enough, you will recognize other regulars/friends!

This is what they bring to the table for your toast... so generous

How is it possible they have made this place worse? New menu, no chef's salad, no cobb salad, no soup of the day, no free pie for dessert... the list of what they no longer serve is endless.. What they do have is higher prices and a dining room with only 4 occupied tables at noon on a Saturday ..

Since they have such small glasses, the waiter brought me a carafe.

We have been coming here for over 30 years. We have seen things come and go. Everything on the menu is available all day. This is a great change. They have only 2 salads with very pricey "salad enhancers". There are 3 soups every day. The SAME 3 SOUPS! One of the draws for me was their variety of soup. Strike 2. The drink glasses are too small. They need to have someone to keep the drinks topped off or go back to large soda and iced tea glasses. Strike 3. This can't possibly endear themselves to the locals. Sad, very sad.

Sometimes you just want to relax in a small, friendly environment... This is one of our go to places.. Staff is always friendly and they know us by first name as we do theirs.. Our favorite servers, Marla, Lourdes, Nova to name a few.. Deb-who retired-Eric our best busser who went out of state.. Good value and great food.. This month they are including the free pie slices in a jar.. so I'll be back for that!

Small casino, small restaurant but Huge portions! Can get busy so be prepared to have a few minutes wait. I have been here for breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you get yourself a rewards card and gamble you'll get a free prime rib dinner. Once you accumulate 50 points! Such a good deal! Play more and get your next meal half off! I tried the Prime rib which came with veggies and your choice of potatoes. But the best option to eat here which you'll definitely not finish is the Giant Chicken Fried steak, it is so delicious and crispy. The steak is a big as the plate it comes in. The restaurant has an old fashioned look to it which has beautiful pictures of Reno from the 1940's which is so mesmerizing and interesting. I highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Reno. Great food and awesome service

It's been several years since I have eaten here. I moved out of the area and just stopped. The other night I wanted prime rib with friends. And someone suggested The Grille at Gold Dust West. So glad they did !! Covid has decreased the number of tables available in the restaurant. We were a group of seven. So they set us up in a small meeting room. Perfect for our rowdy group. Sharmin Was our fabulous server. She hustled to the bar for our several bottles of wine, then back to the kitchen for all our food orders. At then end of our dinner she even put seven slices of pie in to go containers for us. We had Bogle and J Lohr wines. The prime rib we a perfect Med rare, tender and wonderfully seasoned. For $11.99 it came with soup or salad, choice of potato, steamed veggies and a roll. Plenty of food for me. I enjoyed a prime rib sandwich the next day. The Grille serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Check the website or the menu insert for the various daily specials. I want to return on Sunday for their fried chicken and taters for $8.88. The Grille is nothing fancy. But it is delicious home style cooking at great prices. (Even better with a players card). Huge thanks the Craig P. for using his players points to cover the entire check. You must walk through the casino to enter the restaurant.

Shoutout to our main waiter Bryce! He was solid! He was extremely attentive and made it his mission to check up on us every few minutes and after we received our appetizers, entrees, and desserts. 10/10 service. We ordered 2 cokes, the crab cake, a bone marrow and a beef carpaccio to start, two beef wellingtons, the broccolini, and two sticky toffee puddings. Everything was delicious. The crab cake was dense and full of crab. Paired with their citrus aioli, it was chefs kiss. The beef carpaccio was amazing. The beef was tender and was topped with an egg yolk sauce that really brought the savoriness to the beef. The bone marrow was thick, well seasoned, and melt in your mouth delicious. The beef wellingtons were med rare and juicy. The root veggies were tender but not soft. The potato puree was smooth and creamy and the Demi glaze was the icing on the cake. It brought everything together. When we got our sticky toffee puddings, we thought they were a bit small but we were pretty full by that point anyways so we didn't mind. Just as we were finishing them, Bryce brought over two massive ones and an apology. Apparently there was a mix up and the ones we ate were for the tasting menu. So we ended up taking the big ones to go which was great because that meant dessert for later. Overall, the meal was superb, the atmosphere was lovely, the service was impeccable, the staff were friendly, and the vibes were solid. 10/10 would recommend. P. S. The riverside setting made for a relaxing atmosphere and was a great place to spend a summer afternoon. We started with the Crab & Salmon Cakes, and they were outstanding. The presentation was beautiful, and each cake had a perfectly crisp exterior while remaining delicate inside. You could clearly taste both the crab and salmon, and the slightly spicy aioli complemented them perfectly without overpowering the seafood. For cocktails, I ordered the Tequila Mockingbird, and it was excellent. The mezcal's smoky flavor came through clearly, almost reminding me of a good Scotch, yet it had just enough sweetness to keep it balanced. If you enjoy spirit-forward cocktails that aren't overly sweet, I'd highly recommend it. My wife ordered the Razz Jazz and later the Rosé All Day. She loved the Razz Jazz, describing it as refreshing, lightly sweet, and lemony, with enough alcohol flavor to remind you it's a cocktail without being overpowering. The Rosé All Day was another refreshing choice and perfect for a warm afternoon on the patio. For lunch, we ordered the French Dip and the Tri-Tip Sandwich. The French Dip was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the rich au jus. The Tri-Tip Sandwich was loaded with smoky, well-seasoned beef on fresh bread. It was a bit richer than I personally prefer, but the quality of the meat was undeniable. The fries were a standout in their own right, perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and seasoned just right. Wild River Grille isn't the least expensive lunch in town, but the quality of the food, expertly crafted cocktails, attentive service, and beautiful riverside patio made it feel well worth the price. Very well cooked, perfectly tender, and the Calabrian chili oil was perfect for adding some spice. We then ordered entrees, which included the duck duo and a Caesar salad. The Caesar is nothing to write home about. It's fresh and from scratch, but it's just a Caesar. The duck duo came with both duck confit and duck breast. The duck confit was unreal. So tender and so flavorful. The duck breast was a bit tough for my liking, but I really enjoyed the sauce they used on the dish. Most of all, I was shocked by how good the dessert was. We ordered the Imperial Japanese Chicken Wings, the Frenchified Burger, and an order of poutine. The star of the meal was the chicken wings with the wasabi ranch dipping sauce. I like a little freshness on my burgers, so I was missing some lettuce and tomato. Fortunately, I substituted a salad for the fries and ended up piling most of it onto the burger. Next time, I'll just ask for those toppings to be added. The poutine, however, didn't quite live up to the versions I've had elsewhere. I'm not sure if they used white cheddar curds, but they were almost completely melted instead of retaining that signature squeaky texture. The gravy was just okay, and I don't think shoestring fries are the best choice for poutine since they don't hold up as well under the toppings. Overall, I'd definitely come back--especially for the wings and another burger.

It was cooked exactly how I requested, juicy, flavorful, and easily one of the better burgers I've had in Reno. I'd give it a 9.2/10. My wife ordered the macaroni and cheese. To top it all off, Zuck even gave us a mini tour of the restaurant, which made the experience feel even more personal. Great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere make Homegrown Gastropub a place I'll definitely be returning to. If you're in Reno and looking for a locally owned restaurant with character and quality food, this place is absolutely worth a visit!
