All things considered, the Purple Parrot was not a bad place to go when you're looking for late night eats. We had finished with the spa and looked around town for a place open late. As it was a Monday night, many bars and restaurants were closed early not just by normal business hours but many places said they chose to close down earlier than posted because of how slow this particular day was. My friends didn't seem to be proponents of coming here initially, but we did anyway because we got tired of looking around and figured worst case scenario, we come back to the hotel we were staying at and ordered room service, and to give this place a look. When we got there, there seemed to be many employees and a good number of people already dining here. They have a more limited menu for the late night hours but it was enough for us. My friend ended up getting a wor wonton soup and she said it was pretty good. She also ordered a side of eggs. The serving sizes appeared generous. My other friend got French toast and she said it was solid, as expected. I got a chicken club sandwich with fries and it was reasonably priced and also generously sized. I ended up taking some of the fries home because of how big the sandwich was. Food came out reasonably quick, hot, and fresh. Overall, the vibes were of a late night diner. Nothing fancy at all. What does a $40 buffet lunch look like in modern day Nevada? At the Atlantis it offers a wide variety of international foods. Salads and fruits is where the buffet typically kicks off, and everything here is fresh and inviting. Along the main line there is Mexican foods, Cheese Station with Caprese Salad, several Asian foods but no sushi, Pizza, a carving station with turkey, ham, sausage, and prime rib, American sides and finally a seafood station. The desert bar has gelato, cotton candy, pies, cupcakes, brownies and more. Coffee, tea, and soft drinks are included. The variety is nice. Everything that is prepared with spices or sauces is on the bland side as if they are cooking for senior citizens that find ketchup too spicy. In my opinion the lack of competition in the buffet space since 2020 is showing. The value for dollar is lacking, even at lunch and with a small locals discount this is now reserved for special occasions as opposed a regular stop. The service from the buffet staff (food stations) is friendly and they obviously take pride in the appearance of their stations. The wait/bus staff is attentive. I had a craving for some steak and eggs and since I was in the neighborhood, I dropped by Atlantis' Purple Parrot restaurant. It was a bit of a trek from the main parking lot since it clear across the opposite side of the casino. When I arrived at the restaurant, there was no queue but the restaurant was full of diners. The cashier/hostess greeted me immediately and since I was a lone diner, I had ample choices where to sit; I chose to sit at the bar in-front of the kitchen. My server, Dahlia, appeared momentarily to take my order: (medium well) steak and (over easy) eggs which was served with a side of hash brown and a choice of toast (English muffin) with your choice of jelly (grape). Most of the food was good but the steak was a little tough; I was practically sawing it. Other than that, service (from Dahlia) was very friendly and efficient; in fact, all the servers and hostesses were super accommodating, the quality of customer service you've come to expect from casino and wished from every other business. Oh Purple Parrot, I don't know how many times you have to disappoint me, till I completely give up on you. Honestly, I think that this was my last straw on coming back here. Stayed over an hour for fish tacos and Mozzarella sticks, not a singular time did the waiter come over to me and check to see if I needed anything or ask how the food was. I was given my food and didn't even stay long enough at the table to let me get a word in. I also noticed that it wasn't just me, it was everyone my server was "helping". After sitting with my mozzarella sticks at my table for at least 20 minutes, the waiter came over and asked me if I "wanted my fish tacos yet?" Like what?? Never in my life have I been asked if I wanted my food. The food was obviously kept on a warmer, the plate was hot and the food tasted old. The deep fried fish was either in the fryer too long or was a result of the warmer, as was the tortillas which were hard as a rock. My beans *literally* looked like a pile of and my rice looked soaking wet. By the end of the meal, I was just so pissed off I wanted the check so I can go up to the front and pay. The manager was standing right at the register next to the gal that took my payment. She asked how the food was and I told her it was meh, but it was mainly the service that was bad right in front of the manager, again, and he couldn't even be bothered to look up from what he was doing to talk to me about my complaint. Purple Parrot at Atlantis was our first stop. We got there around 10:30 pm Friday and seated quickly for 4 people. Spacious interior with a lot of tables and bar seating The menu is huge with something for everyone. I got the veggie omelet with biscuit and hashbrowns. The omelet was nothing special but did the job. Hashbrowns are standard but the biscuit was surprisingly soft and fluffy. They asked if I wanted gravy on top but I declined. This place is very convenient, especially because it's open late at night. The service is very objective, fast, and straight to the point, which I really appreciate when it is late. The food always comes in great portions and is consistently well made. Joe our server was professional, polite, efficient and got our drinks and our orders perfectly. The restaurant was a bit loud later into our visit as there was an ongoing convention. The booth was clean, and you didn't sink down to the bottom. I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort quality. While we were finishing up our breakfast the conventioneers were leaving. Well, I finally found it. The best Monte Cristo in Reno! I was beginning to think that no place in Reno made a deep fried Monte Cristo sandwich. But today I found it. And it's the best one I've ever had! I thought I had found the best one in Western Nebraska, but this today was the top of the heap. And it was huge. This is, by far, one of the best "coffee shops" in the greater Reno area. It is open 24 hours, as it sits inside of the Atlantis Casino.
