I am so glad that I decided to have my birthday at Centro! Everyone went above and beyond and the food was as amazing as always thanks to Chef Travis. Even though it was a Thursday night, it was very lively and full of fun. We tried a bunch of dishes but the Pan Seared Corvina was by far my favorite. And the team was top-tier! Between Erin, Ijere, and Travis, they really made my birthday truly amazing especially when they gave me a birthday card signed by the whole team. That will definitely be one of my favorite birthday memories for years to come!

Upper Midtown, can't decide where to eat, and want a little bit of everything? This is your spot! Centro offers a wide range of cuisines and drinks, and you can tell a lot of thought went into the menu. If you're spending your hard-earned dollars to vote for quality over quantity, Centro is a great choice. If you're focused on value for the price, you may leave a little conflicted. The vibe gets crowded during peak dinner hours. We sat at the bar and had fun watching the bartenders craft drinks and peek into the open kitchen at the same time. Food: We were very hungry and ordered five dishes plus a couple rounds of drinks. My FAVORITE: Grilled Octopus - Wowza. Deep smoky flavor in every bite that makes you want more. Served with a Cholula-style sauce and fresh jalapeños so you can control the heat (I cranked it all the way up). The roasted potatoes on the side were crispy outside, soft inside, and added great texture. Only complaint: I wanted a bigger portion. 10/10 Shawarma Spiced Chicken Meatballs - Easy win. Flavorful and comforting. The hummus complemented the meatballs without overpowering them. I didn't really taste the lemon, but we were also inhaling our food. Split between two people, you get about four bites each. 8/10 Roasted Cauliflower - Great flavors overall. Some pieces were larger than others, so the roast wasn't uniform, but still tasty. Bonus points for mushrooms because I like them. Phone did not eat first. 7/10 Centro Bruschetta - Decorative flowers weren't mentioned on the menu. Flavor was good, but the smoked salmon dominated everything. It felt like a lox bagel reinvented as toast, which left me a bit confused. Personally wished for tomatoes instead. Good execution, just not my flavor combo. 6/10 Brussels Sprouts - We didn't order these; they were mistakenly served to us. They looked incredibly crispy and smelled amazing. Portion size seemed generous. Honestly wish we had tried them - they appear to be popular. Chocolate Mousse - Rich, chocolatey, and satisfying. Strawberry sauce was mild and easily overpowered by the chocolate (my partner preferred it that way; I wanted more punch). The white chocolate masa crumble was unique, it tasted like sweet streusel bits. Portion was small and presentation a bit uneven. 8/10 Side note: The panna cotta was sold out by 8 PM on a Friday, and when we ordered mousse there were only two left. If dessert matters to you, consider ordering it early. Service: Our bartenders, Bri and Davis, were wonderful. After most of our meal, we bought the staff a "Kitchen Round" (drinks they enjoy after closing). My boyfriend accidentally spilled his beer, and they replaced it at no charge. Kindness plus generosity goes a long way. Drinks: Delectable across the board. I tried the Hibisly and Under Pink Skies. Hibisly - Tajín rim, margarita vibes but sweeter thanks to hibiscus and lychee. Dangerously smooth since you can't taste the alcohol. Under Pink Skies - Creamy from egg white, sweet, and equally deceptive in strength. So good. Beer selection was solid. Draft system appears to run from under the bar. Taps look like a hybrid between a beer tap and an espresso machine. Ambience: Exposed brick, moody lighting, and lots of vibes. The back seating area has twinkle lights and feels romantic. It was packed when we arrived around 7:30 PM, but by 9 PM it had quieted down. Reservations are available, though we didn't have one. Bathrooms were clean with separate men's and women's rooms, though there were no paper towels, and... well... someone before me had questionable aim. Location: Walking distance from several nearby bars. Easy to miss from the street except for the glowing "C" on the door. We walked from spots along California Ave. Street parking exists but fills quickly. Price: It's a tapas bar - expect higher prices. Reviews suggest menu prices have increased over the past year. Portion sizes versus cost will make you think carefully about what you order. For example, the $23 octopus was incredible but covered only about half the plate. Delicious, yes - filling, not exactly. I'll likely save this place for occasional treats or return specifically for my 10/10 items (drinks + octopus). Is it worth it? For the experience alone, yes - as long as you know exactly what you're ordering and feel it's worth the price. Oh, you fancy Midtown tapas bar, you. I'll be back... someday. Just maybe not immediately.

This place has always been my favorite. Don't even know where to begin. The staff and the food is always amazing, the fried Brussel sprouts... Wow.... The grilled octopus and the miso pork belly soooooo good. Fig old fashioned and Up in smoke drinks.. Julie VanVelzen Harpole had the Italian rose. Miss coming here! Go check them out!

It's been many years since I came here. Last night, I visited Centro with some girlfriends. We got in right away for a table of 4. The decor is here is so cozy and intimate. This would be a great date spot if you're looking for one. Centro has a tapas/small plates/shareable style menu. Their menu changes frequently an everything is always very fresh. We started out with some wine and cocktails which were brought out within 10 minutes. They have a specialty cocktail menu, as well as beer, wine and mocktails. We placed our order for the following dishes--Roasted Beets, Al's Filthy Potatoes, Shawarma Spiced Chicken Meatballs, and Miso Pork Belly. The beets were honestly my favorite. Served chilled. The purer and quality of the beets was great. Potatoes were flavorful and had a little kick of pepper. Meatballs were extremely unique and cooked great. The pork belly was a bit tough for my liking but still great flavor.

Whenever we have the chance we suggest meeting friends here for dinner. On our last visit we specifically went to try the new Japanese Sweet Potato which was amazing! I am definitely going back to get it again. Emily took really great care of us as usual. Even on a busy Friday night Service was fire. We got all our food super quick and our waitress was helpful with answering questions and making suggestions.

    The Brunnello was amazing!

This was our second time here and we have fallen in love with the food here. The owner chef plates some incredibly delicious offerings. August was our server and he was very personable person and he was very attentive. We noshed for about two hours and we were never rushed. The flavors were incredible! Already looking forward to our next visit.

TL/DR: tapas, pork belly is a must try, smaller establishment, overall experience was pretty good 4/5 Ambiance: warm - over head heating elements are a great touch, this is a bar & kitchen, clean, lighting creates a welcoming vibe Food: tapas We shared 3 different items for a party of 2 - grilled octopus, fried artichoke hearts, and miso pork belly. Miso Pork belly: 5/5 This was the star of the show! Well cooked and seasoned. A generous cut with the perfect ratio of fat to meat for pork belly, also appreciated the different sauces. Must order if you come here! Fried Artichoke hearts: 4.5/5 well seasoned, crispy, with an amazing combination of herbs and parm. Crunchy and savory. The aioli was a little overpowering for me. Grilled octopus: 3.5/5 The cook was great - often times octopus can be overcooked or undercooked. The lower rating was the combination of flavors, there was a nice little kick but the vinaigrette was not my favorite. Dish was good, but of the 3 we had one we likely wouldn't order again. Service: very friendly and welcoming staff, drinks were filled, we were checked in multiple times throughout dinner Price: a littler higher than competitors that are also tapas centered... for these three items after tax $60 without drinks.

Guess it is time to update my review from 10 years ago when they first opened! Yes, we were early fans and have been back a number of times over the last few years - for better and for worst. Now that Centro is helmed by the amazing Chef Stedman, it is amazing, fresh, and oh sooooo delicious. They also serve lunch Wednesday through Saturday starting at noon. My companion, Angela F, and I decided on reintroducing ourselves to what Centro has to offer. We were not disappointed. Between the marvelous food and the excellent service provided by Dean, our server, it was a standout 5-star experience. Food was served at a leisurely pace with time for gossip, catching up, and just general chitchat. We decided to just start at the top of the menu and work our way down in future visits. We started off with Hamachi Crudo - a lovely mix of pickled veggies, olive tapenade, salmon roe, and rich tangy sauce. Our second plate was Roasted cauliflower with a lot of spice, mushrooms, greens and radishes again in a rich creamy sauce. We finished off the meal with Limoncello Cake topped with a raspberry sorbet. We will definitely make a return visit.

This place was a nice, inviting spot to meet up for dinner with our son and his girlfriend for American style tapas! Sharing the small plates made for a delightful dinner with lots of wonderful flavor profiles to enjoy. We all selected five options to start the evening and ended up ordering a few more plates and some desserts. The server was great and ensured the kitchen made things dairy-free for one of our guests. Someone ordered beets; I've never liked beets, but have tried them on occasion, throughout my life. Tonight, for the first time, I loved them...! The Centro Bruschetta, Shawarma Spiced Chicken Meat Balls and Roasted Beets were some of my favorites of the evening although everything we ordered was pretty epic! This is a great place I'll definitely be dining at again!

Get in here! If you love small plate restaurants like I do then this is for you. The veggie small plates that we had were packed with flavor. Carrots, Brussels Sprouts and Cauliflower - all delicious! They put a lot of effort into their cocktail list and it shows. We had 3 cocktails to start the evening with and they were all delicious. I'm not an Espresso Martini guy but we ordered 2 for the table and I was told that they were very, very good!

I love that you can have a little bit of everything! Their dishes are small but packed with flavor. I would suggest going with friends to try a little bit of everything. Our favorite are the ribs, pork belly, and Caesar salad. We did noticed that they changed their grilled octopus for an adobo and it wasn't our favorite. We weren't big fans of their dessert drinks either, a little too sweet but they look pretty.

I popped in for a late dinner at the bar and had a delicious steak, artichoke hearts and a glass of wine. The bartender let me try a few wines and didn't mind when I asked for a stemmed glass which was much nicer to drink from than the wine tumblers. Service was fantastic. Ambiance was mellow on a Wednesday. Note for staff though, when an item like the NY steak is on the menu with a note about it being served with "chefs choice of garnish" etc it would be nice to explain how it's served. I had to ask after it came out, and the line cook described everything. Very delicious with a fennel gremolata on top, served over a harrissa tomato sauce.

The drinks were great and tasty, but the bruschetta honestly fell a little flat - the portion felt tiny with four small raw white bread medallions and just some diced tomatoes tossed on top with a drizzle of balsamic that I overall didn't have much taste and felt lacking as an attempt at bruschetta but it was no big deal and we moved on. We also ordered the filet tips with gnocchi that took a little longer and came out with the main entrees and it was delicious. The filet tips were savory and flavorful, the gnocchi was excellent and the sauce was rich and creamy. My wife ordered the chef's pasta which turned out to be a shrimp pasta that she really enjoyed, and I ordered a spicy sausage rigatoni pasta that looked amazing but unfortunately fell short - it had a little bit of spice and everything was cooked perfectly but the noodles and meat tasted plain and the sauce was quite bland and watery and lacked any sort of seasoning. We asked for some salt which made it a little better and I finished it but would probably not order it again. Lastly, we topped the night off with the banana foster which couldn't miss. It was extremely delicious and was the perfect end to the meal. The service was exceptional and extremely pleasant which honestly boosted the experience. There was a large loud party happening and drinks and food were taking quite a bit to come out, but our server was amazing, charming, and attentive. They apologized and comped our drinks without even having to say anything and made us feel welcome and comfortable. I would come back for the service alone. Overall had a great night with delicious drinks and fantastic service with food that can be a little hit or miss and requires finding your favorites.

Our bartender, Robert, was friendly, engaging, and delivered great service. The bar itself is longer, allowing for enough seating and not being crammed in. The margarita on their cocktail menu was delicious. The tequila was noted to have a spice to it but the drink wasn't spicy, instead it was refreshing and not sweet (which I dislike in a margarita). We tried 4 different appetizers. My favorite was the shrimp lettuce wraps 5/5. They were messy to eat, but the flavors are really nice. The chicken tacos were also good with the coleslaw crunch. The potstickers themselves were more a 4/5 for me with the sauce being better than a lot of others I've tried. The bruschetta was my least favorite 3/5, bread could have been a little more crisp, and I think with tomatoes not being in season, it wasn't as flavorful.

There were about thirty of us, accommodated by sliding multiple tables together, which was nice. However, as only ONE server was assigned to us, it gave her a busy night; but she (didn't get her name) handled it with good humor, skill and a lot of genuine smiles. I ordered chicken parmesan, which when delivered had been pounded thin, breaded and fried and served with a little spaghetti. Overall, I found the dish to be OK, but IMHO a bit pricey and not something I'd recommend to others. My BIG problem was finding a thin metal "ribbon"-like thing in my entrée. It was about four inches long and one end was coiled as tight as a spring. To me, it looked to be the result of aggressive knife sharpening. Our server wasn't around at the moment, so with the urging of a couple fellow diners, I called a man over who seemed to be assisting her. When I showed him the object, he said he thought it came out of their dishwashers (?) and he was sorry it got into my meal. He took the "ribbon" and left, looking for a manager, I thought. When our server began handing out our individual bills, the man hadn't returned, so I spoke with her instead. When I described what I had found, she looked genuinely shocked, so obviously the other guy hadn't shared the information with her. I told her that I was grateful I hadn't swallowed the spring, but I still felt a discount on my meal would be appropriate. When I was given my bill, a 25% discount had been applied to my entrée, or about $6.75. I didn't feel satisfied, but we had now been sitting for well over an hour and I needed to get up and walk off the stiffness in my leg muscles. Speaking ONLY for myself and not the group, I won't be returning.

Service like that makes a great meal even better. You can taste the love and intention in every dish. We've been multiple times and have yet to order something we didn't absolutely love. The presentation is beautiful, the flavors are bold and balanced, and it's clear the owners are committed to making sure every guest leaves happy. Arario consistently delivers not just amazing food, but an experience. Already looking forward to our next visit!

The porky ribs have potential but It was too lightly drizzled when it needed to be drowned in that sweet and tangy sauce. It was also cooked rather dry on the exterior but the interior was nicely juicy and tender. The bulgogi bowl was actually spicy pork instead of beef. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that great either. The tofu soup was solid. It hit all the right spots and was comfort food personified. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Overall, I am sure there are other items that might hit the spot and I would love to return and try a selection of entrees another time. Service was definitely top notch, Harry was the absolute best!

We had a table of 8 and received great service. I wanted a burger but the only meat burger option came with mushroom Brie, and I'm a mushroom hater so I was disappointed because I really wanted a burger. But the waiter was able to order me a veggie burger with a meat patty (I liked the toppings offered). It was delicious! I also ordered salt and vinegar tots with it and those were good too. I've never seen salt and vinegar offered before on fries/tots. Everyone else's dinner at my table looked so good. We had someone with the salmon, someone with salad and steak, someone with meatballs, someone with a Cuban. They all looked so good and made me want to try them all. I did feel my burger was a bit small but the ingredients were fresh and I really liked the flavors. I also wish it came with my arugula, I only got one tiny piece!

The Cubano - Good, but I expected more of a pressed sandwich. We each got the tot upgrade for $3 more. Truffle and Salt & Vinegar. The truffle was a little too salty for me and I like salt. But the Salt & Vinegar truffle was the better of two options. And to wash it all down, a bottle of Frank Family Cabernet Sauvignon. Ambiance - Personally, I loved their ambiance. I loved the wine libraries; see pictures. I love the "nooks" and all the separate spaces. We also enjoyed sitting at the bar. I appreciated the choices. Great selection of wines at reasonable prices. Plenty of private parking. The wine store is open 6 days a week from 11am to 9pm; the kitchen is open 4pm to 8:45pm. Service - SeraFina was good; not sure if that was her name, but it was the name on our check. Took care of us, gave us space, and filled our waters. Price - $104 + generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success here since 2015 and at your Foothill location since 2010. We are loyal customers to both locations

It was our 1st time eating there however it had been on our list for some time. We started with the PULL-APART GARLIC CHEESE BREAD which is Focaccia, mozzarella, marinara, parmesan, frico crust and also ordered the WOOD FIRED OCTOPUS with crispy gnocchi, tomatoes, red onion, basil, arugula and topped with a Calabrian chili aioli. Both were fantastic, seasoned nicely and cooked to a perfect temperature!! For our entree we hate the BEE STING pizza. Make with a 72 Hour Fermented Organic Dough topped with Salami, red onion, basil, serranos, mozzarella and honey. The crust was delicious, crunchy, thin and when combined with the sauce, seasoning and toppings, an excellent pizza. Additionally we ordered two of the in-house, housemaid pasta. The ARRABBIATA , a roasted red pepper campanelle, with Calabrese sausage, garlic, chilis, broccolini and topped with Parmesan, pecorino. The other pasta we tried was the BLACK SPAGHETTI, mixed with clams, scallops, shrimp, hot chopped peppers, white wine, butter and lemon. It was fantastic!! Cooked al dente and packed with flavor. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. The service was great, food was yummy and we definitely look forward to going back again soon!

The cauliflower was one of my favorites, roasted perfectly with great flavor, Fondue was creamy, hot and delicious, meatballs were super moist and bursting with flavor. The olives were dry and tiny and hard to enjoy due to pit. The backpack was ok but not great. Now, the pizza! It was absolutely perfect. Thin crust, perfect amount of cheese and toppings. I enjoyed the bee sting pizza, hot and sweet, and I love the combination. When I go back it will definitely be pizza, salad and cauliflower. The sever was a sweet young man. He was attentive to our needs and patient with all our questions. The restaurant is a good size, the bar area was busy and filled with conversation and laughter, the booths looked cozy, we chose a table near windows for outside lighting. The outside tables looked great for getting some warmth and fresh air. Many options and different settings. Sorry, I forgot to take pics.

We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday. The joint was nearly empty aside from a couple at the bar. Plenty of seating for our large group in the large, comfy couches. They also have cool built-in seating around the perimeter of the bar, though not nearly as comfortable as the vintage furniture. The menu is sorted by glass type. A fun and unique way to sort cocktails. They also have a selection of beer on draft and wine. The drinks can also be made into mocktails- a win for our group since we had a few non-drinkers. The 1859 mocktail was great. Perfectly sweet with a small hit of miso flavor from the miso honey. Probably even better and more balanced with the whiskey! Others in my group enjoyed working their way through the many light, dark, and sour beers on tap. 1864 offers a classic, relaxed atmosphere and a great place to get a cocktail. The prices are reasonable, too. Definitely worth the visit.
