We went here recently and tried out some bowls! Chipotle style, little pricey, but healthier option and had flavorful sauces to choose from. The wings were the best thing I had, and would come back and try the smaller bowl. The regular size was pretty big. Quick service, not busy, and super friendly/helpful staff. I think I need to try it again and go for a ramen or one of their staple dishes.

The first thing I noticed when I walked into Bab Cafe is how cute the menu is.. not only charming, but also easy to follow! And I was surprised by just how much food came in my box. And my box came with a cup of miso soup!! Which was delicious!!! Perfect for drinking out of a cup. Also, the kimchi and my bowl/box were also delightful. The food here is so light and refreshing, yet I couldn't even finish my box just based on the sheer amount they gave me! Thank you Bab Cafe & staff for the great food & relaxing vibes!!

Love this place! The flavor is so good, even without the large array of sauces to choose from. I got the classic with the bulgogi beef. It comes with white rice, veggies and beef. You also get a hot cup of miso soup which was welcoming on a cold night. We used to go to Bab all the time when it was in South Reno. Miss it being so close!

Good food and seems like it is healthy. Also the large is a lot of food to get. My fave

Excellent place. I love Korean food, so I'd go as far as calling it a hidden gem. It's a simple place that specializes in customizable Korean rice bowls. It has a small menu but that means they are confident in what they do sell. We ordered the K Animal fries, the beef japchae, and rice bowls (spicy pork classic and bulgogi beef classic). Bowls came with miso soup. They have a selection of sauces at the counter to spicy up your bowls. Taste? Great. Cost? Great bang for the buck. Service? Very friendly. Cleaness? Pretty darn clean. Ambiance? Relaxing. Did I enjoy everything? Yepp. 5/5, will be back.

How have I not known this place was downtown?! I was shocked to learn they have been around for 9 years and have been at this downtown location for 6 of them. A friend and I were planning to have dinner somewhere else downtown and it was closed for maintenance. This has been on my list to try for a long time, so we decided to come here instead! We parallel parked in some metered spots right out front. We came on a Thursday evening and there was no wait, we were the only ones there. The staff walked us through the menu and what their most popular items are. You order at the counter then pick your own table. I went with a small classic bowl with bulgogi beef and a side of K-animal style french fries. The total was $20 and I thought it was a good deal since it came out as a large amount of food. Everything was fantastic! I used all three of the main sauces and they blended well with the flavors of my dish. The beef was tender and well marinated. The size small entree still felt like plenty for one person, especially with one of the appetizers. The dish had a great ratio of veggies to rice. It even came with a side of Miso soup! The fries were crisp even with several toppings piled onto them. All the ingredients tasted fresh and flavors were spot on. Our food came out quickly, staff were friendly, and everything was high quality. I'll definitely be back!

On our roadtrip we stayed in the Riverwalk district of Reno at a resort. During our visit Reno had a heat advisory. We refrained from being outdoors. This was located down the block. We enjoy Korean food. Bab is Korean for rice. The cafe offers rice bowls, ramen, and some starters. We decided on takeout here. Ordering- * hubby got kim chee fried rice with spicy pork as his protein. * I got japchae with bulgogi as my protein. Also comes with a cup of miso soup. You can squirt additional sauce over your rice bowl. Five varieties to choose from. The staff suggested eating our rice bowls without the sauce to get the full umami. He was right. Our rice bowls hit the spot during Reno's extreme heat advisory.

First time bab cafe in 3 years. The service is great friendly staffs, and the owner seems nice. I got the classic, tofu and eggs, it also comes with miso soup. It's good, still tasted the same from 3 years ago. The last time I came in this shop I had beef. I will definitely be back and be recommending bab to friends and family

I love bab. Every single time. The bowls are consistent and very filling. I appreciate that I can add sauces on my own and create the flavor palette that works best for me.

Walk up counter to order- a little clunky but finally was acknowledged and service was kind and breezy from there . Interior of this place is kitschy and cute, big TVs telling you how to enjoy the food and I liked the display wall by the larger seating area showcasing Korean cook books. My bowl was pretty good- tofu was well prepared, egg was a little overdone for my liking but they didn't ask how I wanted it.. also don't skimp on the sauces, you're going to want them, I took my bowl to go and wish I got more sauce.

classic tofu bibimbap bowl with added egg

First of all, let me say I have been a big fan of Bab Cafe since they first opened. Love that they are a fast-casual spot and located downtown. I went today to get my usual Classic Tofu Bibimbap. Serving size is large in my opinion for the "regular" size. I normally eat half and eat the other half later, that says something. The bowl comes with a cup of miso soup on the side, which pairs wonderfully with the bowl. There are 4 sauces to add at your discretion which includes a spicy mayo *mild*, teriyaki *medium*, gochujang *spicy*, and a really spicy sauce. I love to add a little bit of all the sauces in my bowl. The bowl comes with a great assortment of veggies, and your choice of protein & rice. I believe at one point in time they offered thinly sliced eggs in their classic bowl but they no longer do, which is too bad as I thought it was a great balance with all the flavors. I would like to see it offered again in the future. I requested that they add a fried egg in my bowl today (but at an additional cost) it was great. I am no bibimbap expert, but have found that today and my recent visits I have had my bowls served "cool/room temperature," which I find the flavors combine together better when served hot. I may request that they warm up my bowl if that happens again in the future. But overall, highly recommend if you are looking for a delicious Korean bowl!

Japchae Top- Bab
Erynn W.

Loved this place! My mom, my sisters, and I decided to try something new and it was delicious! It was a bit hard to choose what to get because there are so many customizations and options which is wonderful but I'm just a very indecisive person. I ended up going with the japchae top-bab, as it was a popular option so I thought why not and I was blown away. It was so flavorful and delicious. I've never had japchae noodles and trying them for the first time here was a great option as they were so saucy and had a sweet teriyaki flavor. The rice, the noodles, the sauce, and the veggies all mixed together was such a delicious combination and like nothing I've ever tried. 10/10 I will definitely be coming here again. Our orders all came with a side of miso soup which was so fun and such an experience to sip on miso in between bites as it went so well together. Bab Café hit the spot for sure. The man at the counter was also so kind and asked if we had been before and if we needed the menu explained! The place was clean and quiet, a very nice experience.

Classic bibimbap (Beef Bulgogi as protein)
Sara F.

Out of all bibimbap that I had here in Reno, I think Bab Café is the most authentic one. I had the classic bibimbap with bulgogi as protein. The mix vegetables (cucumber, reddish, carrots, and etc) were cut/sliced correctly, and they tasted so refreshing. The Bulgogi is not too sweet, and I can taste the soy and sesame oil in it. We also ordered Pork Kimchi soup and chicken wings -- they were all prepared perfectly. The service is good too. They were friendly and kept the restaurant clean. I love the fact that there are books shelves, mostly about Korean recipe books, and other Korean books that would introduce Reno to Korea's vibrant culture. I will come back here! I love the food and the ambiance!

Before you go in, there is signs that says expect a 20 minute wait or more for a burger. If that is an issue for you, this isn't the spot for you. I've gone here a few times. The most recent time with my parents and aunt. I was a bit skeptical taking them to a dive bar for a burger since I wasn't sure how they would react to it. I didn't know until after the meal that they had a whole back section that would have been a lot better of an experience for them. They have a lot of tables and room back there whereas the front is either a bar, one table, or more a a lounge set up. There is also a outdoor area, but it had been a bit windy and sprinkling throughout the day so that isn't an option. I've done the Frenchified burger and the chile burger. Both times i opted for the fries over the chips and feel like I need to try the chips. Burger comes with two patties, a great bun, than the rest is up to you on which you choose. The fries are what I would consider shoe string fries, but maybe slightly thicker. I'm usually not a fan of shoestring fries, but I polished them off easily both times. My parents and aunt are harder to please. They like ingredients that speak for themselves and don't like too much sauces. All 3 of them really enjoyed it and I'm sure they will all be back. They have been looking for a good burger in Reno and I think this was it for them.

We had time since we were just running errands to have a quick bite so we walked in. We were greeted upon entering. It's a cute little space and I looked over and saw two men working very hard and quickly in the kitchen. The gentleman that took our order was friendly enough. I ordered a Korean cheese corn dog with ketchup, mustard and sugar, an order of dumplings, pickled radishes, a plain croffle, and two drinks. That ran us about $24 with tax, it was a very affordable meal. I didn't want to push it and over order. I did want to try their popcorn chicken and wings. I ordered based solely on my cravings today and I was not disappointed. The food was delicious. I loved being able to order pickled radishes, that was a refreshing addition to my meal. The 3 sauces I got were: Honey Mustard, Buffalo and BBQ. Again, all of which were good. But the wings did not really need any dipping sauces. My wife really liked the honey mustard. It was her favorite. She also liked the buffalo sauce which had a little vinegar in it. On a separate visit we came for their Wednesday bone in special; see picture. 10 wings for $9.50. She was too busy in the back for me to talk to. Price - The first ten piece wing order was $15 + a generous tip.
