Love the Ace. They have the jumbo donut only place in Irvine, Tustin and Lake forest who makes it. We called so many donut shops and they were the only ones who clearly understood the task. The owner asked the right questions and was extremely helpful. We were sooo glad and surprised. Ordered 2 days ahead and sprinkles are the way to go. The sky is the limit in decorations and will order for my super bowl bash. They take credit cards yessss and plenty of parking. Door faces the chevron and next to habit. Staff is all family and they are very kind and friendly. Donuts are made daily. Great job We love Ace

I had been going to Ace Donuts on and off for a decade. I hadn't been in a few months so I went in today looking for an apple fritter for my husband when I saw these burnt fritters. I asked the gentleman at the counter if they had any ones in the back that weren't burnt and he was snarky when he said, "No. they're supposed to look like this." Apple Fritters are the only donuts my husband will eat so I know what they are supposed to look like a these chunks of charcoal they were trying to pass off as apple fritters weren't right.

My favorite donut store in Irvine! Right down the street from my house. It reminds me of my favorite donut store back in my home town. It's family run and the staff is very nice every time I've gone. They have a very good selection of donuts and they all have been delicious. I've never been lucky enough to get my hands on the donut holes there as they always sell out by the time they get there but it just gives me a reason to keep coming back!

I got there around the time they were just opening. I found this place through next door app. The relative was spreading the word that her family owns it and i support family businesses. They were just making these when i came and not ready, so it means its fresh. I can hear the oil boiling. I was patient and it paid off. The strawberry one had little custard and powdered sugar on top. The bun is very nicely fluffy and light flavor.

Honestly, I don't have much to say. It was ok. Staff wasn't friendly but they weren't rude either. The whole experience was decent. I came in and ordered 3 dozen donuts for my staff. I got a wide assortment and from what I hear, people enjoyed it. However, I can only comment on the crumb donut that I ate. It was good. Nothing spectacular. No cakie taste like Krispy Creme (if you like that stuff). Just a plain crumb donut. read more

I am not a fan of donuts. My son and husband on the other hand, are donut lovers. My son suggested we try this place, corner of walnut and Culver. Their donuts have turned me into a fan. Of THEIR donuts. They are so fresh and so delicious. They are only open 4am-2pm. I highly recommend this place. Go on in there and grab yourself a donut...or twelve. Yum read more

The joint is family owned and operated and has the most amazing selection of donuts and certainly our favorite place to visit from now on when we come here from Arizona. The best Donuts in Irvine. I am giving this place a review in memory of my dad and Anna and a few others who have passed on but, used to meet there daily for their morning coffee. The Asian owner is very nice and friendly guy with a great memory. For him to remember my dads name after 3 years really made me like this guy even more. He had me tear up in the shop when he said his name like it was yesterday. Very impressed with his customer service not to mention the huge delicious donuts! Keep up the good work my friend. I am very critical because our family owned bakery and donut shops a few years ago so I was craving some. Dropped by and ordered a dozen, it came out to be over 10 buckaroos for crappy tasting donuts. Since when donuts costs this much? We got out of the biz because it seems everyone wants to open one in each corner of America but does not know how to bake decent tasting donuts, and let alone charge twice as much as any supermarket or krispy kreme or winchells. Will never come back. read more

super short review for this place, cuz i went in, got my food, and went out in less than 5 minutes. lol (and it's only about the ham and cheese croissant cuz that's all i bought here!) would be 5 stars if it was HOT when i bought it, but it was still super yummy so 4 stars it is! important stuff: -ham and cheese croissant = $2.85 -it's super huge! so i was heading home after spending the night at a friend's house in irvine, and for some reason after trying a croissant at this one place in the past, every time i'm in irvine, i crave croissants.... weird right? lol anyways, i'm on my way home and i decide to look up the nearest location to satisfy my cravings, and yelp brings me here! summary: the one thing i need to note about was it's size... i think it was the size of my head. here's my sharing calculator: 1 croissant is good for: -1 grown man -2 girls -3 kindergartners -4 babies -5 cats -1000000000000000000000 ants. just had to emphasize how big that thing was.. lol after i ate it.... my food intake was pretty much done for the day. read more

im a donut freak, but fortunately for me south OC is not a big on donut shops. im more fond of traditional american donuts than the asian pastries that are the hype now so i'll walk into a winchells before i step foot into 85C for instance. i found this place driving along culver looking for a place for breakfast while i was home one friday waiting for contractors to do some work at my new place, so i drive into here and find half-decent selection of decent-tasting donuts. donut holes are great not tasty coffee. please do not get it from here. it is horrible. staff that is not rude but not really friendly too. construction all over the place in this plaza. I WILL BE BACK!!!! read more

Went here the other day with some co workers and was pretty pleased with the entire visit. It's a cute little shop that was pretty busy. They had the typical doughnuts that your everyday doughnut shop carries. Really liked the maple bacon doughnut also tried some of the fritter and actually liked it because it wasn't a greasy bite. read more

i love the donuts. very cheap. not too sweet. PLUS a short walk from my school so sometimes during break my friend and i walk there for a quick sugar fix :D i usually get the original glaze or maple bar. coconut is pretty good too. BUT it's a-ok for me cause the service is kinda crappy. the cashier didnt smile, but maybe glared.. but it's okay the donuts were good read more

I live extremely close to this place and, I have been going here for years. It is hands down one of the few donut places Irvine that is very good. Ace Donuts is better than Dunkin Donuts anyday because Dunkin donuts puts close to nothing on their donuts. read more

Love, Love, Love the fresh strawberry. Glazed or Chocolate filled with custard and fresh strawberries, Very Tasty. They are only served on the weekends and you have to come early because they run out pretty quickly. read more

Ace Donuts rocks. They are only 1/8 of a mile down the street from Irvine High School and the Wollett Aquatics Center (Walnut & Culver). Gary the owner is there almost everyday. They have the best donut selection from 5am to 10am and are open usually until 12-1 pm. After that you can go next door to The Habit restaurant. Love their stuffed donut or sprinkled donuts. read more

Seriously, I guess I'm just not that good at understanding Yelp reviews - I see someone rating a donut shop on their bran muffins and I scratch my head thinking "What's wrong with this picture? Eat a donut!" Anyway - Ace Donut - great donuts, great prices, friendly service. Every donut I've tried is fresh, light, and perfect. Coffee is flavorful and mild, doesn't knock you over with caffeine. Stop by, enjoy (have two), grab some cash from one of the banks, get gas, whatever... it's a good way to start a day. read more

The owner usually trys selling all the old donuts first, thats the most downside about this place. You can easily tell its old and hard when you have your first bite. I wouldnt really suggest this place. read more

I think the three star overall rating for this donut shop is on point. their donuts are just that A-OK. they're not super soft and fresh, nor are they rock solid hard. flavors are ok too. but something lacks in their donuts and for that reason i don't think i will waste calories consuming their donuts anymore. read more

There aren't a lot of tables inside and it does get loud, so it's more of a to-go spot. The matcha here has a deep and rich flavor - very concentrated compared to other places. I had the matcha oat latte while my family members tried the blueberry matcha, ube matcha, and house coffee. Everything was so flavorful and well balanced. Can't wait to come back again, yum :)

Obviously, a breakfast burrito is going to have oil, but it was a bit much considering it was dripping out the whole time. I couldn't finish eating it. The matcha was pretty good but I think their food was such letdown so I wouldn't make the 30-40 min commute through traffic.

I took two sips, put it aside while I finished my bagel, then brought it back to request a swap. The two female baristas ignored me as I approached, kept their eyes down, and continued their own conversation. When I finally got their attention, I explained the situation. The blonde with curly hair acknowledged that yes, the drink was very sweet - then told me they would fix it "next time" I came in. I was shocked because I was standing in front of her with a full cup I couldn't drink! The brunette with straight hair said nothing and offered no help throughout the entire exchange. When I made it clear I wanted it done now, not on some future visit, she told me they couldn't swap it because I'd "had it too long." Now I am shocked again! The cup was basically full as I only had the two sips. Only after I stood my ground did she reluctantly offer to ask a manager. The redhead manager was a complete 180. She handled it immediately, made a new matcha drink without sugar (way better but not a good matcha drink in general) and was genuinely pleasant, resolving it without hesitation or attitude. In an era where customer experience is everything, treating a paying customer in such a poor way is fast way to lose business. The staff must be trained better, or put them somewhere they are not customer-facing. I won't be back.

Dear Ace Donut, When in Irvine this donut shop seems like a place to consider since it has been around since when I went to elementary school at Greentree elementary which is in walking distance from the store. Also, it is very close to IHS, where I graduated in 2005. Recently when I was working in nearby Tustin, CA I remember having a donut very early at 5AM. Kind of have to consider how travel & human science works to make all of these events and experiences true & authentic, especially also considering particular places & things that people value. But, it's like does it even matter if it is Irvine or not? King Pin donuts in Berkeley, CA is kind of way better in terms of a small business. I'm not one to gripe. And I love Ace Donut. We have been coming here for years. They are my favorite local shop. And it's important, critically important, to support local small businesses. I respect a businesses ability to make a profit but when did this become $7.90? Its donuts. Flour, sugar and oil + time to bake, rent, etc. But the value exchange for donuts is no longer there at this price. 1.85 each + credit card processing fee. Further, when you charge more for the donuts do you need to charge a processing fee greater than the cost of processing which should be around $0.25 + max 3% of the transaction? Not sure we will be going back too often. Only on special occasions. Sorry. ;( read more

I have to agree with the other reviews about this place. The selection of donuts is pretty bad. For me, I'm okay with just glazed donuts. But when I'm buying a dozen, it would be nice to be able to choose different kinds of donuts to sample. You just don't have much to choose from. The donuts are pretty standard and average too. Not bad, but not really standout either. The coffee is bad though. Worse than 7-11 or gas station mini mart coffee. Sorry, but you may find better donuts and coffee at the Safeway bakery dept. read more

The food was great the ace donut was great, the staff where kind and helpful. were and were and up was the only bad thing when I was buying a Bosten Cream donut thier was a lound baby that Boston Cream their loud baby crying and the baby won'nt shut up. Overall it was a fun time. read more

The donuts were not bad, but not great either. They were a bit too sweet for my taste. The dough was a bit dense and dry. The glaze was too sugary. I might give them another chance, but I'm not sure. read more
