Been wanting to try out Mugs. Came here right before Zion market. The lots of pastry options available. We tried the Koyoto cold Brew and the Spanish latte. I really liked the taste and smoothness of the Koyoto! The Spanish was sweet and flavorful. Service was good, the cashier was super nice. The have table and chair to work or lounge with you drink. Seems very study friendly
I loved the mugs in diamond bar so I wasnt surprised to see this one in the same concept -- lots of seating but PACKED on a weekday afternoon, lots of coffee and matcha options but it just seems impersonal, since there's so many people coming through. Not much service here, the barista didn't say welcome or hello, didn't really talk at all. I ordered tea and it came out fairly quickly. 2 points off for lack of seating area (despite lots of chairs and tables) and lack of service. Otherwise it's a casual study cafe located in prime spot of Irvine.
The banana foam top tastes amazingly light and fluffy by itself but becomes more subtle once mixed with the matcha. However, I still thought it tasted great, and the matcha is pretty high quality. For the plain croffle, I do wish that they added a bit of glaze to give the croffle a little bit more of an initial crunch, but it was still pretty good and chewy. The inside is spacious (I saw a lot of people working off laptops), and there's some patio seating outside.
Lots of seating both indoor and outdoor - there is also a separate quiet room. Drinks and pastries had good flavor for average price and fast service. I really liked the chocolate cream cheese muffin and my partner enjoyed the horchata latte.
I got a chance to visit the Mugs and had a good experience. They offer a wide selection of drinks and pastries with a lot of comfortable seating. Food: They offer a good selection of crossaints, scones, macaroons, and other pastries. I got a chance to try the iced latte and it was very flavorful. Service: The employees are very friendly and helpful. Ambiance: The Ambiance is very nice. Theere is a lot of comfortable seating. There is also a study room.
Mugs is a new coffee shop in the Northwood Center near the Korean market. The layout has a lot to offer, two separate rooms to sit, drink coffee, and work on your computer. Therefore, a better name might be "chairs, " and not mugs. There are three separate rooms to find a seat, not including the outside patio. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was a very hot day, so they gave us ice water right away. The coffee was great, for they have some special choices that tend to the sweet tooth in me. They also have the traditional unsweetened choices and lattes. Those are more what I like. Their pastries are wonderful. So many places are so crowded it is so hard to find a seat, not here. There is lot's of room. A couple suggestions to add to this wonderful place: add a few live plants, some soft music, artwork on the walls. I hate to say it, but the glasswork needs to be wiped down. Do these things, I'll change my grade to five stars. I do recommend Mugs as a great place to relax and have some coffee.
Outlets - yes! Bad wifi. Mid matcha. I love the vibe of this cafe - a fun place to come with friends or to get work done. Service is fast and friendly. They are also pretty busy and popular, so it's hard to get a seat (I've come a couple times and its packed). I will have to say the double matcha was not worth. Something (I'm assuming the milk) tasted funny/irregular - not sure why. I would come back to try the Mitsugaru though!

Honestly it's overall ok. The places vibe is set up mainly as either a quick 2 person coffee and chat or as a study coffee shop. But really just seems like a study or work coffee shop. The staff were pretty friendly and kind of helpful, lol IDK. So there's this trend where a lot of coffee shops for some reason don't like to tell you what's in their coffees? And that's fine since most places don't and most items on the menu are standard fare, but The Mugs had a drink I've never heard of called the Dalgona Latte (I'm not on TikTok so I missed it becoming viral in 2020 per my google of it later). Overcoming my personal issues of asking questions to a cashier I asked what this taste sensation was and was told that it's an iced coffee with sweet cream and candy. A little more detail somewhere would have been great or a better explanation! But quick service . As mentioned, I got the Dalgona Latte and was taken aback by it lol. The coffee sweet cream were good! It was a VERY rich coffee, I think? That's the best term that comes to mind when trying to describe it. It came topped with a darkly toasted honeycomb toffee-like candy which was neat. Overall I'd say if your in this neck of the woods to give it a shot. Thanks!
came here on a whim for some early morning drinks and food, and everything was delicious. their croffles come out hot and include potato chips and dipping sauce, not to mention they had a deal with the croffle to make it a "combo" with a drink! the spot is located in a plaza with plenty of parking, and seats indoor and outdoor. the matcha lattes were good and creamy here, i hate a watery matcha and it's absolutely not that here. the coffee was good as well but they have such a wide selection and everything is pretty customizable to your liking. service was also very nice and it's a casual spot that doesn't get too busy or loud. i'd love to come back if im ever in irvine for a little morning pick me up.

We ordered matcha lattes with regular milk. The sweetness was at a good level (not too much, but not too little), but the matcha taste was a little mild. There's a lot of seating indoors and outdoors. A lot of people come here to work/study inside. We sat outside, and it was great that the tables are in the shade with umbrellas to cover too. Really nice to people watch outside as well :) I do want to come back sometime and try some of the pastries they have in their case, they look tasty.

At $6.25 for a 16 oz, the baseline expectation is consistency--temperature, balance, and execution. Today's drink was, frankly, the worst I've had here--and it didn't even qualify as a latte. A proper latte should be built with espresso first, followed by well-textured milk at the correct temperature, integrated through a controlled pour. What I received instead tasted like espresso and milk were haphazardly combined, with no structure or technique behind it. The milk itself was improperly steamed--off-temperature and leaving a sour, flat, unpleasant finish. Even after a remake, the result was just as disappointing--tepid, flavorless, and simply wrong. No body, no balance, no indication that standard preparation methods were followed. This points to a broader issue. It's not the first time I've seen staff being trained on the job and inconsistent drinks being served as-is. At this price point, that's not acceptable. Customers come here expecting a dependable experience--whether it's early morning or late afternoon--and that consistency is part of what keeps people coming back. Right now, that trust is eroding. More attention to staff training, quality control, and basic execution is needed.

I scoped out the options and was immediately drawn to the room with tables. There's a mix of chairs (some hard, some cushier leather ones), and every table has charging outlets, major plus. WiFi isn't the fastest, but good enough for light work or casual studying. Food & coffee: Started off with their Supremo drip coffee: smooth, strong, and just what I needed. Then I tried Mirado GR4 next: a bit more bitter, and my pleb palate couldn't quite pick up the fig, nougat, and brown sugar notes it claimed. Still, points for the zing I needed to get through my work. Said I wouldn't but caved and tried a croffle. I got the ham & cheese. VERY buttery. Tasty but def not worth the calories :/ The Mugs right next to Zion Market (the kimbap inside is great!) and you're surrounded by tons of restaurant options. They don't allow outside food inside, but the Mugs has a nice outdoor patio you can eat at if you buy food from elsewhere in the plaza. Parking: Easy and free in shopping center Service: Smooth & friendly. They carefully make most the drinks to order, so expect a little wait when it gets busy and they get busy quick. They've got both a self order kiosk and a human at the counter. What I didn't like: There's only one bathroom, it's clean-ish but the air freshener is way too strong and the ventilation can't keep up. The result? A bit of an olfactory battlefield, if you know what I mean. And the music....omg yikes. This was the real crime. Every song was worse than the last. Do yourself a favor and bring headphones. Great study spot. Definitely coming back but only with headphones.
We ordered matcha latte $7 (march 2026h and banana matcha latte $7. They were very creamy. Little too creamy for my taste and the place was super busy and packed with students from UCI getting prepared to their winter quarter finals! Service was pretty quick. Ambiance was like an on campus student cafe! Good to be around young kids!

Picked up a Horchata Latte here on a weekend before a long drive! Personally this drink was way too sweet for me, but the flavor itself was not bad - I could definitely taste the coffee. Service was quite slow - I waited around 30 minutes for this one drink. However, the workers were really friendly, and this situation was understandable since the store was extremely busy. If you want to visit this location, I would avoid going on weekend mornings, especially on Sundays when a lot of people are leaving the church. read more
I make it a point to stop by at the Mugs when I'm on my way up to LA or passing through. Their coffee is so good because it isn't very sweet like many other coffee shop lattes. My personal favorite is the Dalgona Latte, the top is sweeter so usually when I drive it melts a bit and becomes a well mixed drink. It's been very consistent each time I've gone. I also love their plain/butter scone. They have a great texture and taste great both room temp or heated. I've typically gone to get it to go, but waiting inside it seem like a nice area to study. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a really solid, robust espresso flavor. read more
easily one of my favorite coffee shops in irvine! it's a quaint little shop but it's definitely a popular stop. there's a ton of indoor and outdoor seating, but the patrons are mostly students or other individuals who bring things to work on. they provide free wifi which is nice, but it can be hit or miss as to whether you'll be able to secure a spot to stay and sit depending on when you come. i usually just pick up a drink to go. their rose matcha is my go-to order every single time, and this place was honestly the shop that got me into starting to drink matcha. they also have a variety of snacks and small bites that are pretty good too. definitely recommend! read more
My go to coffee shop for a quick hangout with a friend, or a chill study/work session. I usually get a fruity matcha latte, but I saw that they had a new pandan latte so I opted for it instead. The latte was good, but I wish it had a stronger pandan flavor. I also tried the croffle for the first time, and loved the base, but the matcha topping was a little off. It seemed like it was undermixed, as I got chunks of butter in it that made the texture unappetizing. I would definitely try a different flavor of croffle, since I loved the crispiness of it. The staff were friendly, but I wish they used the speakers outside to call out orders. We were sitting outside and did not realize our drinks were ready. read more

Today I tried the $8.00 croffle and Americano combo. The croffle was a little on the smaller side however it was freshly made and slightly crispy and slightly sweet so it's delicious with the Americano that was pretty basic, but it was definitely an Americano. The space is wonderful to hang out in. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating and it's comfortable. There is free Wi-Fi. Pastries are from a bakery in LA. Croffles and croffle sandwiches are made fresh. Large coffee menu. Great community hang out spot. Casual. Good service. Please come and create your own adventure. read more
Got banana matcha and sesame croffle. It was pretty good matcha and banana were well balanced and not too sweet. The sesame croffle was also not too sweet which is a good dessert. I did wish it was a little crunchier but it couldve gotten soft because we didnt dine in. I would get the banana matcha again but it is a little on the pricier side considering the side of the drink. read more
Cute casual environment, come in cozy clothes and just hang out or do some work. Ordering on the kiosk is quick and easy. Decent price- about $25 for a croffle (ham & cheese - YUM), tiramisu latte (DOUBLE YUM), and chocolate muffin with cream cheese filling (TRIPLE YUM). Don't skip the muffin - reminded me of the hostess cupcake but deliciouanot synthetic. read more

Amazing place for coffee and quick bites. Tiramisu coffee tasted exactly like a tiramisu cake would. Strawberry cream latte has the perfect sweetness and tastes pretty much like a strawberries and cream coffee cake. Sweetness might be too much if you're not a fan of super sweet drinks. Black sesame croffle was a big hit for me, the frosting was a perfect blend of black sesame and sourness from the cream cheese. Croffle itself was crispy and chewy. A really good place for studying as well; there is bar-like seating, many tables, and even little rooms with more tables. Keep in mind this place WILL BE VERY BUSY during finals/midterms week as it's where a lot of students will go to lock in for exams. read more
I absolutely loved it here! It's so hard finding a place that stays open late on a Sunday as a coffee shop. They have 2 ways of ordering with a kiosk or someone can take your order. They have the cutest drinks, I got a tiramisu iced latte. The croffle is a such a fun food idea, I love that it comes with some chips. I'm not sure the sauce it comes with as I didn't bother touching it so I don't know if it's for the chips or the sandwich. Wi-Fi was good and I was able to study all evening. It got packed later in the day. The bathroom was clean but my only "complaint" if it could even count as one is that because there is only one there is sometimes a line for it. read more
This was such a cute spot to have a study date. I've been to The Mugs when they had a location in Fullerton, so it was cool to see one in Irvine. This location is located in the Northwood area. Parking is a little tricky since there's nearly 20 other businesses in the area, one being a huge supermarket. There's also an Electrify America charging station here, that I use from time to time. The coffee shop itself is divided into three study rooms, but it fills up pretty quick! I got their banana matcha and it was pretty good! It didn't taste super banana-y, but the matcha flavor was really good! This spot also sells paninis and sandwiches, along with other baked goods. They also offer free wifi here. I'd recommend bringing headphones if you mind the loud music. read more

I don't go to cafes often, but The Mugs has become a frequent favorite of mine in Irvine. It's conveniently located next to Zion Market with plenty of parking in the lot. There's a good amount of seating both indoors and outside, and most people seem to come here to grab a drink and get some work or studying done--it has a chill, productive vibe. I really like the variety they offer when it comes to both drinks and food. In the past, I've tried some of their hot espresso drinks like the horchata latte, which was delicious. Lately though, I've been *obsessed* with one of their spring specials: the banana matcha latte. The matcha is topped with a thick, banana pudding-like layer that adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the earthy matcha. It's refreshing, indulgent, and feels just right now that the weather's warming up. If you're not into coffee or matcha, they have a solid selection of teas too--my boyfriend usually orders those. I haven't tried any of their food items yet, but they definitely look tempting. Give this place a try if you're in the area and looking for a cozy cafe with great seasonal drinks and a relaxed atmosphere! read more

I've been a frequent customer and always order plain croffle for my kids. Recently, my husband picked up 4 plain croffles and waited about half hour to forty mins because they had to redo the croffle as it was completely burnt. Today, I just ordered two croffles for my son's breakfast through door dash. I did NOT choose the option for whipped cream but it came with melted whipped cream and made the croffle soggy. On top of that, the two croffles were completely burnt, black! read more

We came around 1:30 on Wednesday and the place was pretty crowded but we got lucky to find seats. Majority of the people here were studying but with wifi and outlet availability, makes sense. It was a really cute shop with indoor and outdoor seatings. I ordered the tiramisu latte and I did enjoy the idea and foam of the drink wasn't too sweet! I did hope for a stronger coffee flavor but overall was good! I think I would come here more so in the morning if I need to study. read more

Great coffee shop! First time at this location, but a big fan of the one in diamond bar! Always love getting the strawberry cream latte!! Perfectly sweet and creamy. Service was extremely fast--in and out within 10 minutes. Americano was great too! Definitely would return read more
I ordered the honey lavender latte with 50% sweetness. The staff were accomodating with the sweetness request. The drink itself was very milky, the coffee did not taste roasted at all (tasted like very weak instant coffee) with barely a hint of floral lavender. The cafe is a bit small so indoor tables were very limited. I sat outdoors, but was unable to connect to the wifi on my phone or laptop throughout my time there (showed an error message through their internet provider's website), which was disappointing as I was working there for about 2 hours with a friend on my phone's hotspot. The outdoor tables were sticky, wet and none were cleaned from the time I was there until I left. The table and chairs are also wobbly and there is no outdoor lighting - the cafe is in the shade and around 4pm it already was getting dark. The only restroom was also very dirty and extremely wet on the floor and sink. The restroom cleaning log was empty for the entire day and I was there in the evening around 5pm. Would not recommend. There are so many other great coffee spots in Irvine worth your time and money. read more
