This was a nice, quick, and casual pasta place! I would definitely come here for a quick bite of good food. Simple but tasty. Inside was very clean and spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The fusilli arrabbiata was very flavorful. I'm very partial to fresh pasta (not dried/stored), and though I don't think this was freshly made, I still enjoyed it. It didn't have the same bounce and chew of fresh pasta, but the quality and texture was still good. The arrabbiata was spicier than I expected. The focaccia that came with this dish was delicious with the olive oil that was drizzled on it. I think the focaccia sandwich came together a bit less than the pasta did. It was a bit dry, and the ingredients weren't really coming together as much. I think, possibly, the arrabbiata flavor was stronger and lingered longer and made the sandwich less flavorful in comparison. The focaccia bread was light and enjoyable though. I would definitely come here again to try other pastas but might pass on the focaccia sandwich.

Nice staff, nice restaurant. I'm just not impressed with the quality of ingredients used. A $15 sandwich shouldn't include heavily browned avocados. I noticed the large brown spots in the avocado that was being used, and you can easily see them in my photo. It wasn't bad enough for me to call out in the establishment, but it is enough for me to not want to come back.

Overall: SOOO good! I would definitely come back here. It's a great Italian placed tucked away in the heart of Irvine. Got the margarita pizza and 2 pastas (fettucine and chef's special) -- all really good portions. Service: You order up front and they bring it to you, food does take a little bit but it's all freshly made so I didn't mind. Ambiance: Modern and bright inside! Small, but they offer both indoor and outdoor seating.

My new favorite local pasta place! So underrated and hidden. It is such a clean and cute place to eat. The food was also super good. I recommend trying their soups and pasta! Each comes with bread! Usually the pesto comes with gnocchi, but they let you switch it out for fusilli! So good. Also, I had the super greens soup, and it was so amazing. I RECOMMEND: -pesto pasta (you can swap the gnocchi out) -super greens soup The service was amazing as well!!

Sole Toscano was a nice little Italian restaurant - the store felt clean and new. We got the picante and turkey pesto focaccia sandwiches and they were so good ! The portions were a good size and shareable among friends/family. The staff were friendly and the bread was freshly made. Definitely will be coming back

I ordered their CHEF SPECIAL - Fettucine Al Funghi and CHEF SPECIAL - Spaghetti all'Amatriciana and they were both very delicious. The pasta was fresh and the sauces were so flavorful. The service was great and the cafe was clean. I would 100% return!

Just got back from our trip to Italy 2 weeks ago and we were craving quality Italian coffee and food and this place did not disappoint. We ordered an espresso, cappuccino and cannolis and loved it so much we had to try their mortadella on fresh focaccia bread. Appreciated glassware for our coffees, freshness of the food and helpfulness of the staff. We even had a great convo (maybe the owner) about our trip to Italy. Seriously can't wait to come back!

Really great service and sandwiches are great for take out as well. I would definitely recommend.

F: The food here is delicious for the value. The home made Focaccia bread was crisp (slightly dry), light and a good flavor. The bread complimented the pasta / sandwich well. The pasta sauce had nice depth and complexity, but the home made pasta missed Al Dente by about a minute. Overall I would definitely recommend the food. They also sell an assortment of pastries and pizza. S: Everyone was welcoming and friendly. The person taking our order had a smile on their face and brought out the food to our table which I appreciated. I saw them preparing the food and they really took their time assembling the dishes with care. A: The place gives a modern and upscale vibe. It was fairly empty for lunch so it was quiet and felt pretty upscale for the type of food and service. There's a decent amount of seating inside and plenty of seating outside. Overall, I'd give Sole a 85/100 - 4 stars

Solo Toscano Italian Café is a new spot in Irvine with a beautiful interior that brings back the feeling of being in Italy. Warm, cozy, and authentic atmosphere. The chef or service recommended the Fettuccine ai Funghi, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The mushrooms are flavorful and fresh, and the white creamy sauce is rich, tasty, and perfectly balanced. A dish that goes fast because it's so good. Service is friendly. A great place worth visiting.

New name: Sole Toscano Italian Cafe. Old name: Piadina.

Likes: + Yummy food. Not too filling. I like their use of thin bread so you can enjoy everything else more and not get distracted by getting full too fast. + Polite, helpful staff. + Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. . Ample but often crowded parking. Non-likes: - Not a wide selection of meats. - So, adding meat just to meet a decent amount cost extra for me :/ - I think Piadina used to have a water machine. They removed it since change of ownership. I had: $12.45 #8 California + $2.25 extra meat + tax = $15.84

    Prosciutto Focaccia Sandwich

A very fairly priced Italian spot with a modern interior. There's a decent amount of indoor seating and outdoor seating is also available. We were greeted when we entered walked by all of the food on display before placing our order at the register at the end of the counter. They recommended their homemade focaccia bread as well as the homemade pasta. The Prosciutto sandwich had a decent amount of prosciutto and other toppings in it. The focaccia bread was fluffy and had a crispy exterior. The ingredients were really fresh and it was a decent portion size. The Tagliatelle al Ragu had a lot of flavor in the sauce but the pasta was slightly overcooked. The tagliatelle was very soft and the dish could've been elevated more by having the pasta cooked closer to al dente, but it was still a very tasty dish. The amount of pasta is fair and the focaccia that they give on the side makes the dish more substantial. However, the focaccia that came with the pasta was a little bit more dried out and stale compared to that of the prosciutto sandwich.

Delicious, freshly made and affordable Italian food. We love the Caesar salad, caprese sandwich and fettuccine Al Ragu. The staff were friendly and attentive. The ambiance is bright, airy and cozy. Outdoor seatings by the fountain is also an option. Highly recommended!

The sauces were creamy, and the pasta tasted fresh and high quality. The only downside was that it was definitely on the pricier side, and the portions weren't very large, especially since we were dining with a bigger group. We were seated on the outdoor patio, which had the perfect ambience as the evening started to settle in. We started with the Fritto Misto, which was awesome. The calamari and shrimp had just the right amount of breading, and the arrabbiata sauce pairing was spot on. For dinner, the three of us decided to share a few dishes: the Branzino al Sale, Margherita pizza, and Spaghetti allo Scoglio. The Branzino al Sale had a great tableside flame presentation, and they deboned and filleted it for us, which was really impressive. We were super excited for it, but unfortunately it was way too salty for our taste. We mentioned it to our waiter, and he handled it really well by switching it out for the lamb chop special of the day. That ended up being the star of the night, honestly one of the best lamb chops we've had. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and tender and love the chimichurri sauce with it. The Margherita and Spaghetti allo Scoglio were both very good as well. To finish, we shared the Affogato, Panna Cotta, and Tiramisu, and all three desserts were amazing. Despite the issue with the branzino, the service was excellent, the patio ambience was great, and this is definitely a place we'd come back to.

Parking is easy with the validated structure, and the restaurant's location is beautiful. We were seated right away and placed our drink and food orders. We ordered several appetizers and entrées -- our usual favorites are the calamari, Caesar salad, rigatoni alla vodka, and spaghetti with marinara. Their bread is always delicious. The calamari and salad arrived promptly; the salad was great, but the calamari was only warm and not as crispy as we had requested. Unfortunately, things slipped a bit after that. Our entrées took a very long time to arrive, and only two pastas were brought out -- one of which was the wrong dish. When the manager came by, I clarified what we had ordered and let him know we were still missing a pasta. The extraordinary thing about the Pasta Sisters is that they offer house made pastas, which guarantees a higher price point, but offers unparalleled texture. The spaghetti has a "bite" that you get from a true "al dente" pasta. Their cheese tortellini were incredibly rich and cheesy, but a touch salty. The drawback of this location is that it's a ghost kitchen. You order it online and the order will be ready for you when you come in to pick it up. The location does not have seating, and you eat it at your own convenience. If you live/work locally, then this can be definitely worth checking out. Because I live out of town, I have to enjoy it either in my car, after a long drive home, or at my wife's office; however, I want to enjoy these $20 pastas in a restaurant, with wine and good company. A ghost kitchen is very different than a restaurant experience. I hope they do choose to bring their restaurant to the OC one day.
