The service was great; they greet you when you enter and are super friendly. You order at the register and they bring you your food. I will note that you have to wait about 15 minutes for your food (depending on how many people are ahead of you), but because they make your order fresh. I have passed by this place several times and was craving pasta, so I decided to try it with my daughter. It was all right. The price point was high for what you get. I got the pasta with pink sauce, and it was tasty, but the portion was small. It came with two small slices of focaccia bread pieces. My daughter got the Californian sandwich, and it was all right. It was deli meat inside, not particularly quality type of meat. Service was the nice. The two guys working were kind and accommodating. This used to be a Piadina, and even though they've kept some of Piadina sandwiches they have added a lot more diverse menu options like pastas, pizzas and focaccia sandwiches. I have never tried the pastas but personally love the mortadella focaccia sandwich and the Sole Toscano pizza. Good flavor, nice chewiness in the pizza crust. The balsamic glaze was a little heavy handed so next time I'd tell them to go easy on that. Quality of the focaccia is great and it is a large portion for sure. They supposedly have an app with rewards points you can earn the but the employees didn't really know about it so I don't think it actually exists. read more

This is lunch for two! 2 things for me to come back again and provide more stars- less salt (let the ingredients shine!), a little more yoke in the carbanara, and of course price. Inside was very clean and spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The fusilli arrabbiata was very flavorful. I'm very partial to fresh pasta (not dried/stored), and though I don't think this was freshly made, I still enjoyed it. It didn't have the same bounce and chew of fresh pasta, but the quality and texture was still good. The arrabbiata was spicier than I expected. The focaccia that came with this dish was delicious with the olive oil that was drizzled on it. I think the focaccia sandwich came together a bit less than the pasta did. It was a bit dry, and the ingredients weren't really coming together as much. I think, possibly, the arrabbiata flavor was stronger and lingered longer and made the sandwich less flavorful in comparison. The focaccia bread was light and enjoyable though. Nice staff, nice restaurant. I'm just not impressed with the quality of ingredients used. A $15 sandwich shouldn't include heavily browned avocados. I noticed the large brown spots in the avocado that was being used, and you can easily see them in my photo. A very fairly priced Italian spot with a modern interior. There's a decent amount of indoor seating and outdoor seating is also available. We were greeted when we entered walked by all of the food on display before placing our order at the register at the end of the counter. They recommended their homemade focaccia bread as well as the homemade pasta. The Prosciutto sandwich had a decent amount of prosciutto and other toppings in it. The focaccia bread was fluffy and had a crispy exterior. The ingredients were really fresh and it was a decent portion size. The Tagliatelle al Ragu had a lot of flavor in the sauce but the pasta was slightly overcooked. The tagliatelle was very soft and the dish could've been elevated more by having the pasta cooked closer to al dente, but it was still a very tasty dish. The amount of pasta is fair and the focaccia that they give on the side makes the dish more substantial. However, the focaccia that came with the pasta was a little bit more dried out and stale compared to that of the prosciutto sandwich. read more

Yes, she ordered an iced Americano too. Food was at the table quickly and very tasty. A bit salty for us yet overall a hearty dish that was not a skimpy portion. The owner is clearly a pioneer, importing the finest Italian ingredients, even the fresh cheeses, for the many different menu items available at this impressively unique cafe. One of the most unique features is their commitment to a relaxing and authentic Italian experience, from the food to the music playing, combined with an "upscale" sense of great service. I've found that the real Italian staff from Italy are much better at catering to each party with this above and beyond "experience," but all of the staff are always very attentive and helpful. The authentic Italian coffee here is second to none with the best machine and the best coffee beans they harmonize with true skill and attentiveness. The California piadina is super healthy, gourmet-tasting, and a staple in our household, as is the Margherita pinsa romana (flatbread pizza), which tastes like perfection down to the herb seasoning and quality of the cheese. I plan to buy a piadina sandwich every week and freeze it to take to work because it's that good! Dining in here is a super great experience as is taking food to-go to eat at home, as there's plenty of parking at the Crossroads in Westpark. read more

This place opening snuck up on me, but I am never ever going to turn down a new quick-service pasta place! If this seems very similar to the previous tenant, Piadina, I heard that it has the same owners so it seems to just be a rebrand, but one I am grateful for. I do love piadinas every once in a while, but Sole Toscano has piadinas, focaccia, pizza, pasta, and more! They even have an all-day breakfast menu, meaning there is something for everyone. The first thing I noticed about the menu, besides being quite expansive, was that everything seemed fairly priced. I don't think there was a single menu item over $18! That is truly a rarity for a place that uses high quality ingredients, especially in Irvine. In my order I got a tagliatelle al ragu and a Caesar salad with chicken added. The pasta was made fresh at the location and you can tell. The meat sauce was flavorful, and the dish as a whole was super filling. It also came with two little pieces of focaccia. I was easily able to take half of my dish for leftovers. I am planning on trying their cream sauce next, especially since it's only $10! I would like to see them come out with other sauces for their pasta dishes in the future. There is a lasagna option, but when you have fresh made pasta, there needs to be more options so I can come back several times and try something new each time! The presentation of the restaurant is nice, and I loved how they had an example of many things they sold right at the counter under glass. This tactic clearly worked on me as I saw they had Nutella muffins. I am a huge fan of Nutella so I had no choice but to buy one. The muffin was okay- the muffin part was too dense for me and it did not have enough filling. However it was super kind of the place to throw in a cream filled croissant with my muffin order! It was very filling, and came with two small slices of bread that were just enough. Also had a latte that was nice. I returned to takeout a dinner--the chef's special of mushroom-Alfredo sounded great--and it was! Very tasty meat sauce with mushrooms. Their noodles aren't overcooked and didn't get mushy even after re-heating as leftovers. They seem handmade and tasty. I LOVED this dish. And the two slices of bread were just right--crispy! I also had the salad with salami. I liked that the salami was rolled up and not chopped up. All the greens were fresh and crisp. I'm looking forward to trying their other dishes and the sandwiches!
