So disappointed because of how overpriced this place is. I got a 1/2 portion of Strozzapreti and it was only $7.50 cheaper than the full portion? The full portion price is $26.50 and half is.. $19?? It's especially unreasonable since my 2 friends who split 1 full portion of the crushed meatball ragu was charged $25 for the full priced item - per the logic behind my 1/2 portion's cost, it would have been $19 per 1/2 or $38 for the full portion of the meatball ragu but it clearly wasn't?? Will not be coming back lol. Unfortunately the Strozzapreti was also flavourless and the spinach & chicken in it were overcooked, definitely would not pay $19 for half of what's already a small portion of flavourless pasta. We had a 7:45 reservation and arrived around 7:40. At first, we were told they were getting our table ready, but shortly after they said they were running behind and would text us when it was ready. We received the text about 15 minutes later and came back within 3 minutes, only to be told we would be seated soon and then waited another 15 minutes. I'm not really sure why we were texted that our table was ready when it clearly wasn't. The restaurant was also surprisingly cold. Our waiter was pretty stoic and did check on us once, but service overall felt slow, especially when it came to drink refills. For the food, I really loved the pasta. I had asked for the sauce on the side when ordering, but it didn't come that way, so I had to ask for it again. I also wish the yuca chips had been crispier. They were very soft and almost melt-in-your-mouth, which might be perfect if that's the texture you like, but I personally prefer them crispy. The food itself was good, but it also took quite a while to come out. Overall, it felt like we spent more time waiting for our table and our food than actually eating. I went here for a gathering with a friend's family. I did think that all the food we had was really good. I loved the vegetable salads we got, and the spaghetti with smashed meatballs are really delicious. This is very much kind of comfort Italian food, but it also had a very fresh taste to it. They make food that is delicious and the entire menu is full of options that will please you. Today we returned for lunch. The hostesses (3) welcomed us and we told them we had a reservation and gave our name. We were told to step aside to wait for our table. That was weird as there were many empty tables. We waited about ten minutes before being placed at a table. It seems the hostesses need an education on how to quickly seat people. This was really the only qualm I have for the entire experience. I ordered the short rib lumache and a Caesar salad. Both were amazing. The short rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender and seasoned to perfection. The salad had ample dressing and wonderful croutons. Because of the popularity of the restaraunt, it might be hard to flag down your waiter for service so try to get everything in one go. We got the ricotta cavatelli and bolognese. The ricotta cavatelli had a buttery rich lemony flavor, not oily or heavy and some substantial chunks. The bolognese had a nice deep tomato flavor and both pastas were cooked relatively al dente. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The service is always solid unless you get them on a off day which happens to the best of us, and the food is consistent a bit pricey but you're also paying for the ambience itself. If there is one thing I would pass on, it's the desserts. Hubby and I were visiting California and in the Irvine area, so we decided to stop by North Italia, a place we hadn't been to in a while. We were seated quickly at the bustling bar, and after settling in, our server, Angela M, (septum ring in her nose) brought us menus. Within 10 minutes, she asked if we wanted something to drink. My husband ordered a pitcher of red sangria, and I took a sip. Suddenly, I was done looking at the menu and ready to order. We were seated in limbo for 35 minutes, waiting for Angela M to return with water and ask us what we wanted to eat. It was frustrating because she was serving everyone else, talking to the customers next to us, and not once did she offer us water or ask about our order. I wondered if it was a racial issue or if she was simply a poor server. I was watching her serve everyone else except for us, which was quite interesting. I could have made a big deal, called the manager, and had a complete meltdown because of the terrible service. But I didn't. We just sat there and waited until the bartender turned to us and asked if anyone had served us yet. My husband had to answer him because I was so upset. We finally ordered our food, but my appetite had completely vanished. My husband placed the credit charge in the glass so we could pay. Would you believe that Angela M came out of nowhere and asked us how the meal was? She proceeded to process our bill. The only thing I could do was swallow hard and sign my credit card slip. On the tip line, I wrote a zero. We explained to the bartender that this wasn't a reflection of his service but of Angela M's. He completely understood. I hope North Italia takes this as a lesson learned and trains certain staff members again or has a brief conversation with Angela M about what customer service means. Great service can make all the difference between a 0 tip and a 25% tip. Hopefully, this incident will never happen again to another person again. read more

The pizza flavor was good, but the dough at the center of the pizza was so thin that it almost was nonexistent. We couldn't fully pick up the slices due to how flimsy it was. The appearance was a bit lacking as well, but again, tasted good. The biggest disappointment is when we found a bug on top of the arugula as we were eating the pizza. The caramelized onion frittata is dream worthy. Add the prosciutto to your board, you won't regret it! The argula salad and cheese with bread are all fantastic. I could eat this board every day. Finally had dinner at North Italia after driving by it for years. We came for dinner on a weekend with reservations. If you're familiar with this shopping center then you already know parking is horrible so we chose to valet. The sign says cash only but they take credit cards. The menu has a lot to offer and I was happy to see they have mocktails. For apps we got the house made focaccia and calamari. The calamari had a unique breading that I didn't care for but the rest of my group loved it. Next time I'll go straight for the focaccia. So I was excited to come here because I saw they had a lunch special deal. However, they failed to tell you that it expired on May 31 very disappointed. The restaurant also says it opens at 11 AM. We got there at 11:07, and they were still not ready for all the guests. We ended up waiting outside for another 5 to 10 minutes before we were even seated. Service was decent. However our Stromboli came out before our steak salad. Thought that was very odd, since a salad is pretty much just the raw vegetables. This location is beautiful with a lovely outdoor patio for cooler days (not the day we went). First, parking is a challenge with several restaurants and market. There is valet but for lunch, that seemed like an unnecessary expense. The service is what stood out for the restaurant and not in a good way. We got sat fairly quickly but again it was 2:45 so wouldn't have expected a wait. But then the wait began. Waiter never approached our table for 15-20 minutes. We were hot and would have loved any drink. He finally did, but only after he waited on another table sat after us and he took their order, went to bar, got their drinks and then came to our table finally.
