We came here after a disappointing appointment at Hermes, where I didn't receive the bag I was hoping for. suprisely we got sitted immediately after our arrival and our server Nikki came right away We ordered penne pomodoro which I asked to be spicy and the flavor matched the spice very perfectly and the pizza and kids food arrived very quickly. Our server came by four times to refill our drinks, which honestly surprised me because that level of attentiveness doesn't happen often, even at some of the more expensive restaurants nearby The only problem I had was the truffle fries which was too oily and smelly and the fries didn't seems fresh but our attentive and caring server immediately took them back, apologized, and offered to replace them. This Italian restaurant in the mall honestly gave me a bit of a "mental trip to Italy"--even though I've never actually been to Italy before. But if I had to imagine what Italy feels like, I'd say... this might be it. Everything Marciano-style on the menu was really solid and genuinely enjoyable. The flavors felt comforting but still refined, like something you'd happily eat slowly without thinking too much about anything else. At one point I was even close to ordering their mortadella (or "mortal," as I almost confidently called it before correcting myself mid-thought), just because everything else was hitting that well. Quattro Caffe is a small restaurant on the first floor of South Coast Plaza. There's a small bar bordering the outside and a good amount of seating inside. The service is honestly really good, our waiter was super attentive and positive when we came! It's not too busy during the week which is nice too since seating wasn't an issue. For the food, we got a fusilli con salsiccia and truffle fries. I like when places also have complimentary endless bread because... I just like bread. So having that while we waited for our food was nice. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip was a good pairing with it. The truffle fries were pretty good too, just would've wanted them a tad bit crispier but it's okay because they were still pretty tasty overall as an appetizer. The fusilli con salsiccia was good. The caramellized onions and mushroom were good and went well with the pasta and Italian sausage. The sauce was good, but I think I'm just not too into pink sauce as much. Still good overall though! Located in the South Coast shopping plaza on the first floor across from Balenciaga, it is a restaurant option when needing a respite from shopping without leaving the grounds or resorting to the loud food court. Amazing customer service, 5/5. However, the food quality for the price is where the star got docked. I'm hoping maybe it was a fluke and we just ordered the wrong things. Got the: 1. Truffle fries ($15): 7/10 Unfortunately it arrived drenched in oil and half soggy. Only the top layer of fries were crispy as gravity (even after only 1 minute) drenched the rest of the fries in oil. The seasoning missed the mark for me as the truffle taste was also not remarkable and it arrived with ketchup on the side, as if the kitchen also knew. 2. Burrata pizza (6.5/10): We were so stoked to see that they take pride in their Burrata so you can imagine our surprise when the Burrata was NOT fresh toppings but rather baked in! The best way to appreciate fresh Burrata is uncooked toppings, so we were very disappointed when it arrived. It does not look or taste significantly better than your local chain and therefore I cannot consciously say that it is worth the price tag or the trip. 3. Lobster ravioli (6/10): the lobster flavor is extremely subtle and there are no visible lobster pieces or texture, so at first glance/taste, it is impossible to know if they really used lobster. The sauce is tasty, but with only 4 pieces and almost indistinguishable "lobster", I can't say I'll be ordering this again. TLDR: If you NEED amazing service over all else or want a restaurant option when needing a respite from shopping without leaving the grounds or resorting to the loud food court, this is your option at $$-$$$ price point. If you are a foodie hoping quality to somewhat be related price, a different option away from the mall would be a better choice. read more

Our server was very disappointing I asked for plain water and she charged me for water, very un-truthful. She wasn't clear whatsoever about what she was meaning. I specifically asked for plain water not bottled and she said can I just bring it in the bottle as if she wasn't going to charge so I said yes. I look on the bill and it says $9.56 for the bottle. I wish that she could have just been honest and told me it would be an up charge for the bottle but she never said anything. I love this place and I am really sad to see poor service. The bread was a bit tough and not too warm. The server was nice and came to check on me often. This drink generally is priced around $16-$19 elsewhere. That was the first impression. The minestrone soup, Cesar salad and bread were all excellent. My wife had the Sole al limone with broccoli which she enjoyed. I had the Salmone alla Griglia which was a good cut of salmon yet virtually tasteless. Sergio was very attentive at our table and the other servers helpful as well. The wait time for the meal was a bit excessive for the restaurant not being very busy. Went here for lunch on a Friday and it was perfect. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The service was amazing and staff kept our drinks topped off the entire time and were super attentive. We were sat in the back on the little patio and it was perfect. We started with the focaccia for the table and it's a must-order: warm, fluffy, and delicious. I had the spaghetti con pomodoro for my entrée and loved it. Portion sizes were perfect. Quattro cafe was her one of lunch restaurants all the time. My wife always shopped the new clothings on the weekend. She retired as a fashion designer right before pandemic. Today we both got shocked about slow and empty restaurant, not many shoppers inside mall. Well, I was hungry so I ordered lasagna w meats, my wife got only calamari as an appetizer. We had 2 glasses of red wine, Cabernet Sauvignon Napa. Quality, service: 5 stars Ambiance: casual classic Price: $25 and up for pasta I loved the red wine. I stopped by South Coast Plaza after Yelp event. First, I got shocked about the empty parking lots in front of Nordstrom's and not many people at the restaurants and even inside mall after 12 on Sat. The wine I picked was merrow, exactly my fave. Loved it! As my appetizer, calamari, so crunchy, flavorful, fresh fried as soon as I ordered. I give 5 stars for the dipping sauce and crunchy squids. Really tasty. I tasted little lasagna. Lots of cheese melted, lots of meats, but something was missing for my taste. Might be ricotta cheese....missing. Overall, the ambiance, quality, and service were good. I always had lunch break here after my 1st round research for my design for over 17 years. Quattro Caffè is my automatic stop anytime I'm shopping at South Coast Plaza. If I'm already over there, this is exactly where I go it's the perfect way to slow down and reset after shopping. I love sitting at the small bar that faces the mall. There are only a handful of seats, which makes it feel intimate and ideal for people-watching. It does get busy, but I somehow always end up finding a spot. The bartenders are cool, friendly, and make you feel comfortable right away. The food is consistently excellent. The bread with olive oil and vinegar is simple but always done right. I usually order the prawns and the Wise Guy salad, and both are reliably delicious. I have been debating whether to write this review because Quattro Café is one of my favorite restaurants, and I've always enjoyed coming here. Unfortunately, my most recent experience with one of the servers left me disappointed. Nicky who assisted me was disrespectful and inattentive throughout my visit. As a customer, I felt ignored and unwelcome. There were several moments when it seemed like my needs were an inconvenience rather than a priority, and the level of customer service fell far below what I have come to expect from a restaurant I genuinely enjoy supporting. What made the experience even more frustrating was that after providing poor service, she asked me to leave a Yelp review and specifically requested a positive review. That felt inappropriate given the experience I had just received. There were MULTIPLE instances where I would politely ask for something and she would purposely ignore us and go to another table and smile and be so nice. I take no pleasure in writing this review, especially about a restaurant that I have supported and enjoyed for a long time. I'm still debating whether to continue visiting because I value quattro's Café. I hope management takes customer feedback seriously and addresses these concerns so that future guests receive the quality service that helped make this restaurant one of my favorites. Quattro is a staple for all the "ladies who lunch" after spending copious amounts of money shopping for luxury goods! It's centered smack in the heart of what I like to call LUX row. Just around the corner from Bvlgari, next to Jimmy Choo. The restaurant is bustling with fun groups of people that are enjoying very good Italian food, glasses of champagne, wine, and everything in between. It's very authentic Italian dining, and I love that it's been there for 20 years. I hope it always remains the same!. The decor is absolutely fantastic with the most beautiful pictures of classic Italian movie stars and stunnning images of Italy. The bar is also really fun and it's so good for people watching as they stroll by. It's a very "see and be seen" type of spot. Food comes out quickly and piping hot, never been disappointed. It does have a high noise level, so it's definitely not a space to have an intimate conversation in, it's more for a good time and great food. The pizzas are delicious. i always walked past this caffe on my shopping sprees at south coast and thought it looked so cute and warm, and wondered if the food taste would match their interior superiority. after finally giving in, i'm sad to say i should've just admired the restaurant from the outside. we ordered the seasonal vodka pasta and the margherita pizza. both were exceptionally bland and tasted almost entirely of cream and cheese. the bill was not pretty either. can you believe it came out to be 68... yea...me neither. our waiter was a nice man but i just wished they invested a little more R&D into their recipes. read more

Feeling a 3.5/5 rounded down. Food (4/5) - Didn't know there was house bread (which ended up being really bland when we asked to try) so we ordered the Focaccia bread which had good texture. Flakey/crispy outside with a chewy inside that lacked flavor alone but paired great with the classic flavors of olive oil and balsamic, but overall not worth $15. Fusilli pasta was just ok. Large portion size, the sausage they use is great but the sauce didn't impress, just needed some crushed peppers and cheese I guess. The lemon sole was phenomenal, very soft and flavorful and the sides offered were cooked well. Service (4/5) - Service was fine as plates were cleared and waters refilled timely. Lot of good humored folks working here, just bothered the staff needs to get real close as mentioned below because it's a small restaurant. Ambiance (2/5) - I was sold on the food but not on the atmosphere. No music playing but the "ambiance" of the mall trickling in definitely reminds you where you are eating when you are nearly dining with your table neighbors, as the place is incredibly cramped. We sat on an end of an aisle table where I was bumped into more than a handful of times by servers walking past. Got to a point I awkwardly needed to scoot my chair even closer to the person dining next to us to avoid being touched by every single person that walked near me. The steak panini we got medium rare steak and this was just wonderful! The first thing you notice is the un uniform bread with holes on the top slice that you can tell was fresh baked and made in house. The steak was perfect tender juicy and the Brie cheese was so good just an incredible sandwich. The bread with olive oil and vinegar was also wonderful that came out as a starter. Hard to get in-and-out of the table. Once seated, our server took our drink orders first while we decide what to eat. They gave us fetcha bread (yummm) to munch on. Our server made me feel rushed with our orders. She wasn't friendly either, just pure business approach. When we're ready, we ordered: 1) Arugula Salad $24 2) Farfalle Salmon Fresco $35 3) Pasta del Giorno $45 4) Pizza Margherita $ 23 Everything tasted good, nothing extraordinary. Serving size is just right. Prices are a bit on the high end (but it's scp). The pasta del Giorno is not bad either but could be better. Server never offered if we wanted some mozzarella cheese on our pasta. She rarely check our table if we needed anything. We have to keep flagging another person (who btw was awesome - I forgot to ask her name), I believe she helped the main servers. My first experience with Quattro Cafe was just mediocre.
