We sat outside on a Sunday and it was beautiful. Service was quick and attentive and there was a live musician who came on at the end of our lunch. I highly recommend the main courses and appetizers. Everything was hot and fresh and delicious and the flavors were amazing. The sole was perfectly tender and the citrusy flavor was amazing with the capers. The pizza was also great. The crust tasted home made and was baked to perfection. I would skip over dessert next time. The custard in my caramel brûlée was grainy. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly on a Saturday evening at 7:00 PM, which is no small thing at that hour. She was professional and gracious from the moment we walked in. The live music was a genuine pleasure and added real atmosphere to the room. Nothing in this review should reflect on her or on the musicians. FOOD Solid. The menu offers a good selection, and the wine list is well constructed. We ordered the carpaccio, the Spaghetti Carbonara, and the Rigatoni Bolognese. All three were good, competently prepared and enjoyable, though none rose to outstanding. If the food were the only consideration, this would be a comfortable three or four stars. SERVICE FROM ALESSANDRO (Saturday 08/08/2026 @ 7 pm PDT) This is where the evening failed. As first-time guests, we received little attention from our assigned server, Alessandro, throughout the meal. What attentiveness we did experience came from Steve, a server working other sections entirely, who noticed us unprompted and expedited what he could from his end. Steve was courteous, observant, and genuinely helpful -- he read the table correctly without being asked, and he deserves recognition for it. When it became clear we were ready to leave, Steve took my credit card and handed it directly to Alessandro. Alessandro appeared to forget he had been given it, and then delivered my credit card to the wrong table. The result was a long and avoidable wait, and I ultimately had to approach him directly to resolve it. I will own my part: I raised my voice, and that was uncalled for. I regret it. What I cannot excuse is the response. Rather than de-escalating, Alessandro became defensive and matched my volume. In a service-oriented establishment, that is the wrong instinct. One of us was a frustrated guest at the end of a long wait; the other was on duty, and the standard is not the same for both. We did talk it through afterward, which I appreciate, but the exchange should never have reached that point. I will also note, in fairness, that Alessandro brought three cookies with the check. It was a thoughtful gesture and we were thankful for it. It did not offset the conduct that preceded it. The unfortunate part is that everyone else we encountered was pleasant and professional. My thanks go to Steve, who was the role model here and the reason the evening did not end worse than it did. But a single server's handling of a first visit is what a first-time guest takes home, and on that basis we will not be returning. read more

Great food on Mother's Day, not cheap, some misses on service. A wall makes it hard for the host to see people waiting for a table. If the host is not at the front, then ring the bell. A potential customer rang the bell to attract attention, no one appeared, and she left. Liked the food: fettuccine ai funghi porcini, seven lobster ravioli, and panine or sandwich with meatballs and fries! The lobster was finely ground but might have had more flavor if it was coarse ground. Host seemed upset that we had no reservations, even though there were several unreserved tables. The waiters were friendly. Our breadbasket was not refilled. Plates were cleared quickly. We were not asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. After a long awaited visit. We were so disappointed. Not only did the food not meet our expectations (it was bland) but the service was so bad and it wasn't even busy for a Saturday night. I guess I know why now. Our waiter had no personality, rushed the process of ordering, never checked back on our food, never brought refills, didn't bring the coffee I ordered and did t even offer us any dessert. We drove all the way from the SGV to be let down. I honestly would've not tipped him at all, but my hubby is too nice and still tipped. No manager in sight to communicate these issues either. We tried the calamari which was pretty crisp, some crostini with prosciutto, and many other items. They serve complimentary bread, olive oil and balsamic and it is refillable. As for the main dish, I tried the fettucine with shrimp in alfredo sauce and mushrooms. This was a huge portion and very tasty. For desserts, we tried the creme brulee and tiramisu. Tiramisu was better than the creme brulee, but it was still good. All in all, it was a solid spot but the lunch did take ~2 hours for our large party. The food was delicious! We opted for sharing a small (not so small) Caesar and a happy hour Margherita pizza. It was very filling and we were shocked to get out of there spending just over $20 for food. The salad was fantastic with an abundance of large shaved parmesan pieces. The location right next to the AMC is great, and there's a nice outdoor seating area that is open but still somewhat closed off. I went for an early dinner, and unfortunately they were understaffed. There were a few big groups and not even servers. It took a while (maybe 15 mins from being seated) to get a menu. I had an hour before my movie and was okay waiting but considered leaving since they seemed too busy. I could tell the staff was trying their best to get everyone water and bread at least, and my server was apologetic. The pasta was good, and they have some nice daily deals like $3 rose. One of my favorite pasta spots in OC! This is the only restaurant that we've found that makes carbonara the traditional way! Smooth, creamy pasta with a subtle egg taste. The pancetta is cooked beautifully and not overcooked. We also had the chefs special which was a form of ravioli with a slow roasted beef. The creamy sauce was not overwhelming and was surprisingly filling. We finished with one of the bomba desserts which is an ice cream ball covered in har chocolate and cut into fours like an apple. You walk in and are immediately met with restaurant accolades and the host that greets you is the same one I've seen every time I've ever been here. This place has an unpretentious vibe while still being high end. In addition to consistently great service, the food has always been incredible. This restaurant is located at The District right in front of the AMC theater. I went to this restaurant with a friend to try out their OC restaurant week menu. An appetizer, main course, and dessert was $45. We arrived without a reservation but were seated within minutes. During the course of our dinner, no waiter checked on us specifically so we had to wave someone down if we saw them walking around. I did ask if they had a nonalcoholic drink menu and the waiter said they didn't. He did count off some options they had like a blood orange soda but when I opted to get that, I received san pellegrino instead. I got the salad which was fairly good. It was drenched in dressing which I didn't mind and it was very filling. However the main course I got which was the pescatora pasta wasn't very good at all. Some of the clams were missing the clam meat inside and the calamari was very gummy (nearly inedible). I found myself picking around it and just eating the pasta which was bland. The dessert of tiramisu was very sweet. I feel like they added too much mascarpone on top and i wasnt really tasting the spongy breading underneath. The restaurant itself was fairly clean. Not many people dining inside when I was there and the restaurant was completely empty for the majority of our dinner (I believe two ppl came in near the end). I had my shares of Italian food and trying to find a really good Italian restaurant that serve good quality Italian food is pretty hard to find but I'm so happy that I found this place . I came here the other night to have dinner with my friends and we loved it the food was spectacular and the service was top notch! Always checking up on our table making sure we were really taken care of. Now that's a great Italian hospitality . Our waiter I forgot got his name but he was an amazing waiter making sure we got what we needed and accommodated us when it came to splitting the bill. Arrived on a Monday night after making a reservation for 5 PM. For this time did not think it was necessary as there was very few customers. We met another couple there and was seated promptly. Our waiter greeted us immediately with water and soon later brought us complementary house bread. Sorry to say this review is being written a week or so after enjoying our time at Luna Rossa. I cannot remember everyone's meal choices but can say I had a salmon special, which was very good. Other three in the party enjoyed their meals as well. Had a good dinner here last night. Nothing over the top spectacular that deserves a five star rating but definitely a solid dinner. Started with the bread, butter (have to ask for butter) and their olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Didn't get any drinks or apps this time around because we wanted to finish all our food. We split two dishes: Spaghetti Chicken Pesto and a Pepperoni Pizza. Both were fantastic. No complaints. The Spaghetti Chicken Pesto was hot, creamy, and pasta cooked perfectly. The pizza was thin, crispy and on point. The service was also good. Nothing to write home about. Our server had a very stoic/mellow personality lol. Tried to engage him in more conversation but he wasn't in the mood haha. Super slow night for them. Only about 5 tables occupied in the entire restaurant. But the Busser was super nice. Ended the night with some cappuccino's and Tiramisu. Again no complaints on either. Tiramisu was perfect. Highly recommend this dessert. Clean and cozy atmosphere. We really liked coming here.
