I called the day before to ask if I could get a reservation but the nice gentleman on the phone said they don't do reservations for that time but I should be good to get seated right away with 7 people. He assured me I shouldn't have any issues. I will assume he forgot it was Mother's day weekend lol. When we arrived the hostess told us all of the big tables were full and it would be a 30 minute wait. She also said the kitchen closes down at 1:45 so.... In other words my chances of dining in were slim to none? Or we would not be able to order any food once we are seated?? I really am not sure where she was going with that. My daughter stepped in and asked if there were tables available outside. She said there was but it was probably too small for us, we asked to go see and thought the table was actually perfect for us. So we asked to be seated there. We had plenty of elbow room and the table fit our food perfectly so I am not sure why she thought it was too small. Overall we did not feel like she was taking much initiative to be accomadating on a holiday weekend. The food was so authentic and amazing that I didn't even care. My pesto was so fresh and flavorful, the pasta was cooked perfectly. Everyone in my family ordered something different and everyone loved their dish! Service was friendly but not very attentive. The incredible quality and authenticity of the Italian food here at Storico Spaghetteria, together with the relative affordability of such foods, makes this restaurant my top pick for everyday Italian fare outings. The pane della casa ( homemade focaccia with olive oil & balsamic vinegar ) was extremely delicious, perfectly salted, and the olive oil with balsamic vinegar tasted outstanding. There were four pieces of focaccia that came for just $3 and I had to take a piece home because it was a lot! The pesto pasta in the half size was $17, and even this was so much that I had to take some home. However, the quality of the pesto and the fusilli pasta noodles were second to none here in OC, and I am now so happy to have found a real Italian restaurant that serves real Italian food for reasonable prices - I worried about having to choose between unhealthy Alfredo and cheese wheel cheaper pastas versus expensive full-scale dining experiences, neither which made sense to me, until I found Storico Spaghetteria, the answer to my Italian food needs. I have a dairy allergy, and the staff was incredibly accommodating and attentive when it came to modifying my order. I have been here two times and pasta is fresh and authentic! Storico is a cute restaurant in downtown Tustin. It gets super packed during peak time so highly recommend coming early to avoid the rush. There is inside and outside seating. They have various selection of pasta, apps, drinks and mains. For apps we recommend the calamari! Very crispy and not overly greasy. For the pasta they do half portions which is good for me. My favorite is the gamberi proscuitto! The sauce is light, creamy, and wide ribbon pasta is bomb! I've tried the capperi e olive, great if you like olives. The cacio e Pepe is a little bit too creamy. My fiancés Ragu pasta was meaty and delicious. If you are going to get dessert definitely get the gelato, so creamy and refreshing, good portion as well. Been wanting to go here for a while, glad I finally went! Came here on a Sunday evening for a nice dinner. The weather was perfect so we decided to sit on the patio. Got to enjoy a surprise view of a Space X launch too! The dining room is nice, if not a bit loud but nothing out of the ordinary. Took a while for our server to first come out and to get our drinks once ordered. The food came out quickly though and at a good temperature. We weren't starving so we started with the antipasto plate, basically a nice charcuterie board. It had pepperoni, salami, and prosciutto for the meats; brie, pepper jack, and a delicious soft crumbly cheese. The board also included olives, artichoke hearts, and perfectly toasted ciabatta bread. For our entree we split the grilled meats plate which was a perfect way to try all their specialty meats. It included 2 Italian sausages, 2 lamb chops, a filet mignon, and a flattened grilled chicken breast. It was all cooked perfectly and tasted great. No dipping sauces or anything to take away from the flavor of the meats. We enjoyed it very much. A bit of arugula and a lemon wedge on the side made a great pairing. We both got the wine sampler which comes with four 2oz pours of their choosing, usually 2 whites and 2 reds. All were very tasty and went perfectly with the meal. While looking for more unique eats in the area, this was recommended to us and we generally don't go out to eat Italian food that much and seeing that there's a good amount of pasta that sounds delicious and that we've never tried before, this was the play. It was also within walking distance from an event we were attending so everything worked out! Loved that there's some historical pieces outside and inside the restaurant too. The towing sign is with a historical vehicle and there's a tractor (?) inside and some farm vehicle outside too. The restaurant has table seating and bar seating, it's not super big, so there may be a wait depending on when you go and how big the parties are in front of you. We were lucky enough to wait long since our party was smaller. The restaurant is attached to their cafe as well. Non-alcoholic drinks and desserts that are available at the restaurant are also available at the cafe as well, so if you can't make up your mind during your dining session, you can just walk right next door and order there. They also have daily specials for entrees, appetizers, desserts, and spirits, just take a look at the chalkboard that they have up. Our group got the: 1) Peach Italian Soda: -Very bubbly and had a light peach taste. Not bad. -Wouldn't mind trying their other flavors. 2) Sweet cream Maple Nut Latte: -Strong coffee taste to it that ends with the sweet taste of maple nut. -It's a very "European" way of doing coffee if that makes sense. -You'll definitely stay up if you down the entire thing. 3) Mango Menta: This is a green tea with mango and mint. -Refreshing with real sprigs of mint in it. -The minty taste with the sweetness of mango went really well together. 4) Pane della Casa: -This is their house focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. -Really wish this was something offered on the house instead of for purchase but it was relatively cheap for $3. Only issue was that the bread was QUITE hard. Not sure if it's supposed to be this way or because we went right at the end of the day. -I'd skip this. 5) Paccheri alla Panna: -This is paccheri pasta in a light cream sauce with peas, Italian cotto ham, onions, parmigianno, and mushrooms. -We opted to try more of the unique pastas that we don't usually see at other restaurants and this was one of our choices. -Nice chewy texture to the pasta and the little burst of flavor from the peas added to the yummy creaminess of the sauce. The ham also added a nice saltiness that brought everything beautifully together. 6) Sacchetti ai Funghi Porcini: -This is fresh pasta stuffed with porcini mushrooms, garlic, Swiss, and Fontina cheese. -Favorite of the night. Can never go wrong with a stuffed pasta. -Loved the seasoning and flavoring of the sauce and the texture of the mushroom filling. At first I was a bit wary of splitting 2 pasta dishes with 4 adults, but was convinced to order the full serving and I'm glad I did because the full serving is about half of what you'd normally see at an American restaurant (lol at my fat ass), so ordering half would have definitely left us hungry. We've come here before and felt that the pasta was delicious, and decided to come back for dinner. For some reason, the service at dinner was astonishingly bad. We had a hard time flagging a server to ask for water or order food, and eventually lucked out flagging down a server who stated he was not our server but thankfully took our order. After our food came, we felt bag flagging him down again for a spoon but genuinely he was the only one around. It was not until 20 minutes after that, now 35+ minutes into being seated and halfway through eating our entrees, that our server finally came by for the first time. It was not for lack of trying - we had again been trying to flag down just anyone, and finally begged a busboy to grab our server, and that's the only reason she finally showed up. The ragu was delicious the first time we had it, and this time the noodles were extremely unevenly cooked. Most of them were undercooked, others were overcooked, none were al dente. The paccheri, meanwhile, was perfect - al dente, delicious, really outstanding. Don't waste your time or calories on the house focaccia. Unfortunately, the bad service stole the show, and the cold food wasn't far behind. The seating arrangements are also overly crowded and made it difficult to get in and out. We actually chose this location because there was no wait to be seated and we had somewhere to be after our meal. After being seated promptly, a waitress was nowhere to be found. After 15 minutes, I eventually went to the host to ask if we were going to be helped. Eventually, the waitress came by and apologized for taking so long, but continued to be MIA all evening even after giving constant apologies, "so sorry I took so long, what would you like?" SERVICE (1/5)- Unfortunately, the service here is what ruined the experience. The few times we did see our waitress, she would give a quick apology and would do the same thing. The place was not even very busy. She brought cold food out, did not explain the salad dressing. Never even attempted to make things right. Salad (2/5)- We ordered a salad to share with Italian salad dressing, but it seemed that we just got a cup of oil. Eventually after speaking to a server, we find there is a little bit of seasoning at the bottom and we need to stir it up... ummm? Would have been nice if our server told us that, since I typically don't put the whole dressing on and just use a little, which turned out to be pure oil without mixing. The salad was also not very fresh at all. Cacio e Pepe (2/5)- dish came out cold, so I sent it back. This probably says more about the service than the dish unfortunately. The bite I did try has good texture on the pasta, but lacked flavor/salt. Would not order again. Side of sausage (5/5)- this was actually delicious and super flavorful. Large portion. This was intended to add to my cacio e Pepe dish, but ended up being my meal since I had to send my cold dish back. Ragu di carne (5/5)- I am not normally a tomato sauce fan, but this was an amazing dish. The flat noodles were perfect, and the tomato sauce had great flavor and a good amount was put on the pasta (was not dry, was not drenched). By the time we sat the restaurant was already full, so arrive early. They do take reservations but it's for parties of 6 or more. It's a tiny, cute restaurant that has a family feeling! Our server, Alisandro, was awesome. He made sure the kitchen knew about my son's food allergies. He made great suggestions, and even though the restaurant was busy he was attentive. They give you generous portions, especially if you order full-sized pastas! Had the ragu bianco. Ragu had good flavor, but unfortunately the dish had a pool of oil that was not properly emulsified when the pasta was tossed in the sauce. Pasta water wasn't salted enough either, because the pasta was rather bland. Ragu had bay leaves in them, which aren't edible, and therefore don't belong in a finished dish being served to customers. I wanted to try something new that I haven't reviewed. I'm a long-time diner of Roma up the street and thought I'd try Storico. First the parking lot was small. During peak hours you might have to park on the street. There's a little coffee shop on the right side with several pastries that looked really good. You can dine indoors or outdoors. They even have a bar which I'm pretty sure you can eat there. I ordered the Ragu De Carne which is a Fettuccine noodle with meat sauce. The pasta is made in house and was delicious. They bring you grated Parmesan cheese on the side. It's to bad you don't get rolls or something to soak up the remaining sauce. It's so good you don't want to leave anything behind. The dining room was nice, with big windows so you can see the activity on El Camino Real. The reason for four stars was it took forever to get the check. This is a nice place to bring a date. I've been wanting to try this place for months but it's always been busy. Finally got the timing right and only waited 15min. The ambiance is really nice inside with a cool set up. The restaurant is in the front and there is seating in the back but it also stands for a drink/dessert area for anyone looking to just buy lattes. It even has an entrance access in the back part for that reason. Our waiter was super friendly and answered all our question and gave suggestions. The only reason for the rating is the pasta itself. We got 2 different types and felt very disappointed in both. The taste wasn't bad for the Paccheri but salty. Both pasta were "al dente" texture but just too much. Several pieces of my pasta were hard and just starchy. For $24, for mine alone, it was not worth it. I have tried plenty of other pasta places and this was just not it. read more

You know those places you visit once, but will never forget? Luckily for me, Storico Spaghetteria is not too far from where I live, so I will 100% be back- but it was memorable from the get-go. The handmade pasta were soooooooo good: I loved doing family style, so I could try a little bit of everything, but let's be honest, I wanted a lot of everything, so I have to go back. Each pasta noodles were intricate and beautiful and you could taste the freshness. The sauces were incredible. The desserts were wild.
