The tomatoes were hearty and cut a perfect thickness. Could have used more balsamic for me, but my husband liked it fine. Chef special: Swordfish picatta with mashed potatoes, vegetables & tiny salad - 4/5 This was good. The picatta sauce was delicious and the fish cooked perfectly. I would have liked a mix of different vegetables. Lasagna - 5/5 - this was my favorite. It was cheesy, served very hot, the noodles were not mushy. Just deliciousness on a plate. The service at the bar was outstanding. Our server was attentive and offered us as much bread as we wanted. He went over the menu and offered suggestions. We only drank water and the cup was always full. He was great! Seating - there was plenty of seating, so was not sure why we were only offered a choice of 2 tables both basically on top of the party next to you. I feel they can do better in that department. There was seating outside, which was also offered, but it was way too hot and humid that day to dine al fresco. We ending up sitting at the bar. Forced tipping: They add a "kitchen appreciation" fee to your bill, which I did not care for. I initially wasn't going to write a review but I saw someone gave the restaurant 1 star 20 days ago for a similar situation that happened to us so I decided to do the same. My husband and I came across the restaurant on a Saturday at 430pm. We had our baby stroller and have been mindful on avoiding dinner rushes while going to restaurants, just in case. The Host asked us if we were a party of "3 and a half" which we laughed and said yes. We waited outside where there is patio seating and only a couple of tables taken. Inside, there were people at the bar and maybe one table occupied. The rest were open. I could see through the windows that the staff made a big deal about the stroller, they were walking around making hand motions as to where the stroller would "fit" mind you we've been to plenty of restaurants where this has NEVER been an issue. They came out to speak to us twice stating they were looking for a spot. I told my husband we should just eat elsewhere but he insisted on waiting. We did not want to sit outside due to it being hot. The host finally returned and said that they have reservations and can seat us at a table but we have an hour limit due to the reservation. My husband obliged b/c he was hungry, and I was annoyed. We got seated in the back which is fine by the big display of wine and our stroller replaced a chair. Which idk why that wasn't suggested or thought of in the first place. Our server was very nice but the other staff just kept side eyeing us. Dinner was rushed, it was tasty yet over priced. Our baby slept the entire time, No fuss thankfully. What were they to do if they had someone in a wheel chair and couldn't accommodate space? I know the comparison is far fetched compared to a stroller however it was the first time I ever encountered this. Since someone else made a comment about them not being seated due to a stroller, I would suggest avoiding this restaurant if you have small children as it seems it's not welcomed. I'm surprised I haven't written a review here yet! My husband and I are becoming quite the regulars here so this is definitely past due! This is one of our go-to date spot that our friends introduced to us to. Other items I've tried are the but my favorites are the fettuccine Alfredo (not on the menu), the short rib ravioli - super tasty!, and this mozerella crusted Pattie's in balsamic and creamy tomato sauce (seasonal or not on the menu sometime) that we love! I wanted to love the seafood risotto but I've had better. I used to order paccheri alla boscaiola which a popular item but I have to be in the mood for all the red onions which can be overpowering if there's a lot. We have tried some Of the apps which are always super fresh but we tend to order insalata calabrese which has a bit of everything Italian salad and great for sharing. The free bread is a plus too. After some time of seeing this cozy authentic Northern Italian restaurant full of happy customers, we decided to finally give the restaurant a try. To no real surprise, the ambiance felt like we had stopped inside a street restaurant in Genoa or Parma or Modena. We ordered the Ravioli di Brasato, which were stuffed full of delicious short rib. While we enjoyed this take on the dish, we do prefer a less tomato-forward sauce. We had to try their take on Tiramisu, and they've definitely got one of the best Tiramisus I've had, better than all of the ones I've had in Italy and Vegas. To start with, our server's shirt was filthy and splattered with red sauce. I don't know what the situation was, but this seemed like an appropriate time to wear aprons to avoid that. He kept reaching around me and bumping up against me when there was ample space to maneuver around me. It's always a trade off between handing the food directly to the person furthest away from you, or just place the plate down and have people pass it down to whoever ordered the dish. Getting elbowed in the face and trying to dodge him every time he came around was not a pleasant experience. For what seems to be a fancy restaurant, they didn't have any salt or pepper on the table. I had to ask for some, and was handed a thimble-sized shaker. It's possible that they grind the pepper fresh in the back and refill these shakers, but... it didn't taste like fresh ground pepper. The bread basket that came out had maybe 3 varieties of bread. One type was fluffy and great, and the others tasted stale and dry. I ordered the pasta carbonara, and the flavor was fine if not a little heavy. It was made with bucatini, which was an interesting choice because that's not what I would've chosen to use for this dish. Due to the thickness of the bucatini, the balance of pasta/sauce was off and it was too pasta heavy. Changing the type of pasta used could help with the balance. My sister ordered some type of tortelloni with a red limoncello sauce since it was one of the few vegetarian items on the menu. The tortelloni was great, but the sauce was NOT. To me, it was a deterrent from finishing the dish and we ended up trying to wipe off as much sauce off the tortelloni as possible, just to finish the meal. I wish we could have rinsed it. My other friends both got the gnocchi dish, which was also delicious. It seems to be a crowd favorite for a reason, and maybe worth keeping if they decide to pare down the menu in the future. Overall, I would not come back. The service wasn't great and the dishes were such a hit or miss that it isn't worth the gamble. read more

Quaint little restaurant in the heart of the town plaza. Good location but parking can be a bit challenging on a weekend night. We met up with a couple of friends on a Saturday evening for an early dinner. The restaurant was packed. Note: Reservation is highly recommended. It took a good 15 minutes after we got seated to get the menus. Was trying to flag a server down but they were unfortunately avoiding eye contact. But once our server approached us, it was good after that. Our server was friendly and appropriately attentive. Food was passable. The beef special was the favorite of the meal. The PENNE AL SALMONE and RAVIOLI DI BRASATO came in second. My go-to entree is the LINGUINE CON VONGOLE. I was excited to see the dish on the menu but sad to say, this was the disappointing, unimpressive dish of the evening. Presentation was good but wasn't tasty (a bit bland and gummy). We stopped in around the middle of lunch on Sunday because we were craving Italian food. The restaurants in the immediate vicinity were quite busy, while this restaurant appeared almost empty. We should have taken that as our first red flag. We had our baby with us in a stroller. The host initially said we might be able to sit in this one area with the stroller beside us, but an older dude who seemed like the owner or manger came over and told us there was no room for the stroller. The patio in front was completely empty and that wasn't even offered to us. And remember how the restaurant inside was basically empty. So that fact, along with this interaction, we decided we were not wanted so we decided to take our business elsewhere. I could not find a dress code posted on their website but depending on the occasion, it can range from formal to business or smart casual. I was invited for my birthday and i really enjoyed my dinner with good friends and good food. The Menu has plenty of options to choose from. Each one more attractive than the next. Right off the bat, They brought out some house made bread for dipping in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For appetizers, we ordered the Caprese and the Calamari. The Caprese tasted super fresh and the calamari was not fried but rather seemed to be cooked in a tomato based broth. The Calamari was good but a little too chewy for my taste. As a main course, I ordered one of my all time favorites. A traditional Roman dish. The "Cacio e pepe". It is one very simple pasta dish that, if not made with attention and knowledge, can go very wrong. It is basically made with freshly grated pecorino Cheese and freshly ground pepper. It was creamy with just the right amount of Pecorino cheese and the perfect amount of saltiness. and so incredibly satisfying. My friends ordered the Pork Chop ai Funghi Porcini and the Linguini con vongole (clams). I don't personally eat Pork. But The Pork chop was a huge portion and looked as though it was cooked to perfection. It came with mushrooms, other veggies and butter like mashed potatoes. Everything looked and tasted amazing. For dessert, we got the tiramisu which was the best one I've ever had and we got a strawberry Pana cota on the house for my birthday. The Pana Cota was so light that it melted in your mouth. I almost hate to share this place but I saw the 4 stars and realized they need a bump up in ratings. I got tired of Italian food but my family loves it so I took them out to this new spot. I've got little kids, who are picky eaters. They loved all of it! We ordered the special lamb ossobuco, a kids size spaghetti bolognese, and a pasta I can't remember. This place is such a gem! I had been trying to go and finally did and let me tell you, it is such an amazing experience! We sat at the bar and had some Italian beer and wine. Had a work event here. Its a small cozy restaurant with limited seating inside and some more tables outside. Its dark in here but romantically lit. I love e their wall of wines and alcohol along the long wall of the building. On one side they have the kitchen and on the other side a small bar. It gets pretty loud in here. Probably because our table of 11 was the loudest in here!! Our waiter was ok. Seemed kind of rushed and rocky. But that's OK, because he really knew the menu well and even memorized what all 11 of us ordered, appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks!! Service does take some time here as we had to wait for our waiter to come back and either get us the dessert menu or the bill or get our orders. But we were talking a lot so that wasn't too bad either. My wife and I ordered the following: 1. Beef carpacio- thin slices of raw beef. It was really delicate and fresh. Great taste. It was really good 2. Calamari- they tell you from the get go its not the breaded or fried type that many are accustomed too. Lots of peices from the rings to the tentacles in a creamy tomato type sauce/soup. Which there was more bread to soak up the sauce. 3. Furmaggi misti- like a charcuterie plate. The jams are really good. Nice medley of finger foods. 4. Bruschetta- this was ok. It was missing some sort of vinaigrette. But each peice of bread was packed to the brim with toppings. 5. Cioppino- this was a really large entree with large amounts of clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops and calamari. The sauce was really hot temp wise. And they had 2 nice and succulent baby lobster tail on top. Some pasta in the bottom. Could've used some more bread to soak up the sauce. 6. Panna cotta- it was very light, so light that it had no flavor. I wish I ordered some other dessert to close out my dinner. 7. Aperol spritz- was very light. Reminded me of a mild monitor. Yes, my stomach hurts after eating it and I still suffer from the lactose, but at least I suffer less because it has less cream. And the bolognese is so good. Rich tomato sauce and meat. Yummy. I also like their beet salad and steak. The osso buco is good, but it's not my favorite. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. Service was good and food came out quickly. I ordered the salmon Monte Rosa, the salmon was super flavorful and tender and portions are large. They actually initially gave me the wrong pasta at first, but let me keep it free of charge since it was a mistake so I had two entrees for the price of one. I had a sample as she also had a bit of my food but that sample alone was just enough for me to order it the next time we visit! And again, the portion was just perfect, content was just enough and left her smiling! Bread (side-dish) It may seem like bread but there was something about it that was so different and addicting. We asked for seconds and couldn't stop eating it. I actually had to put my foot down and say "hey we should leave some room for our main dishes lol" Don't leave this one hanging, may look like just bread but there's something about it! I found the real authentic Northern Italian cuisine in the old town Orange. I liked here old town in the past. Luckily I found a new Italian restaurant. First, they have a large selection of wines. They also have so many pasta options, chicken, seafoods. I chose lasagna, my wife got tagliatelle w ragu, lamb. We chose red and white wines per glass. The bread is served w olive oil and valsamic vinegar. I tasted my lasagna and said, ummmm.....so good. My wife loved her tagliatelle, perfect balance w tomato sauce, tender lamb. She loved her noodles, cooked perfect! She gave 5 stars for the pasta. The ambiance is classic. You can enjoy the wine and Northern Italian cuisine. Authentic!! Price, quality, service: 5 stars Ambiance: 4 stars Parking: 4 stars. You need to park in the parking structure 3 blocks away. 3 hours Free!!! It's been a while since we had a great Italian lunch.
