This was a small cute restaurant. Staff were really friendly and gave their opinions on food options. Service was great, we never ran out of water. The restaurant is very much open concept so you can see the kitchen from all angles. I LOVED the way they presented their deserts for us to choose. I love tapas! My friend and I stopped by for an early dinner and got a few dishes to try. They were able to seat us despite no reservation. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept where the owner is also the head chef. They were able to accommodate allergy concerns (balsamic on the side for the sprouts). The duck breast was slightly overcooked but the flavor was so good it didn't really matter. The gnocchi were pillowy and the short rib was super tender. The calamari steak was unique, and I enjoyed it! I'd come back the next time I'm in the area, and get someone else to drive so I can try some of their cocktails. read more

Best place for good food and good atmosphere. We adore this place. We come as often as we are able, even from a distance. The service varies, but overall is good. Never had a server that was bad or didnt meet general expectations. The owner is fantastic as is his family that works alongside him sometimes. A few friends and I tried Truffle Bistro yesterday and had a positive experience. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and funny, and the overall vibe is welcoming and cozy. I tried a cocktail and a glass of wine, both of which were good, and the Mia Bella Farfalle pasta was amazing. I loved the marsala sauce - it definitely made the pasta distinct from others. Truffle Bistro is an amazing place for Tapas - aka: appetizers. Everything we have EVER ordered has been delicious and we've tried almost everything on the menu. The only reason we haven't tried everything is that the owner, Henry, changes the menu to keep things fresh and in season. The place is very intimate with a cool vibe. Sit at the bar and watch the chefs work their magic We had Gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce, Spanish Sausages, Duck Breast in Pomegranate sauce, Lamb Meatballs, and Bacon-Wrapped Dates with Gorgonzola. For dessert we had Tiramisu (amazing!) and a Chocolate Dome over a Chocolate Lava Cake. And if that doesn't make you hungry - I don't know what would! It's a little pricey, but worth every dollar. This is a quaint place for tapas! Our server was really nice and offered recommendations. That was very helpful because they had an extensive menu and we were having a hard time picking dishes. We finally decided on stuffed mushrooms, red wine braised chorizo, short rib gnocchi, grilled octopus. The mushrooms were nice and savory. It was stuffed with cheese and perfectly seasoned and finished off with a sauce. The chorizo had a rich flavor that was heightened with the red wine braise. The octopus had a beautiful char and was accompanied with roasted potatoes and tomatoes. The latter added a nice freshness to every bite. We had such a great meal, I almost hate to tell others about this place! Truffle Bistro provided a lovely, quiet evening with tapas, great wine, and live music. We loved the artichokes, goat cheese and tomato sauce, and garlic shrimp. Didn't love the charge for extra bread, but overall prices were reasonable and comparable to appetizers at other establishments. Delaney was a gracious server with an excellent eye for best practices and guest preference. I'm looking forward to bringing friends and family to show off this special place in Orange. read more

I'm really glad I liked this place because I didn't want to face the wrath of the owner, lol. I found the flavors to be superb, however definitely on the salty side (eating this salty might not be for everyone). I don't know if there's a term for it, but our lips were saturated with salt from certain items; I'll star the salty items below. Maybe you can request less sodium if you are looking out for your blood pressure? Pro tip: If you're getting something with sauce, ask for bread when you order so it comes out at the same time as your food Brussel sprouts - not many restaurants get this right but theirs were actually crispy and tasty Meatballs* - although simple, it was excellent; order bread Shrimp al ajillo - we loved the sauce on this one; order bread Oxtail** - this one was mouthwatering good. I'm not sure if I'm supposed drink the broth because it's so salty, but I did (well as much as I could) Duck breast* - I was most disappointed with this of all the dishes. It is part my fault for not asking what their "perfectly cooked" temperature is, but it came out medium with the end pieces being medium-well. I prefer medium-rare and should have requested that. Flavor and crispiness of the skin were perfect though (maybe ask for a little less sea salt on top if you're looking to cut back on sodium) Frutta di mare - simple but delicious. It was my wife's bday and I like to typically find unique restaurants for fine dining. Because we have done other tapas places (i.e., Vaca), we wanted to try something new. After digging through Yelp, we stumbled on this gem called Truffle Bistro!!! I first started off by reserving a seat over the weekend. Because we eat early, we probably did not need reservations. But, you may never know. As I get older, i get grumpy and agitated when waiting for food. So I do reservations whenever possible. Anyway, for the price and portion, this place is one of the best Spanish style food in CA. It may not be as fancy as Vaca, but nonetheless it is highly underrated. Regarding the food, I mostly stuck with the Tapas portion of the menu. This includes the following: *Oxtail - a nice spread you put on your slice of bread. The waitress recommended this but so do I. * Seafood Paella - please note that this was not a tapas plate. For the record, my wife and I had really great paella in Spain before. In my opinion, their Paella is pretty good. The seafood is fresh and the rice is pretty flavorful. * truffle fries - as a warning, these darn things are so addicting. * Quail - this was alright. Maybe because we eat this often in Asian restaurants, there was no wow factor. But, i would still say this is solid. * Brussel sprouts - pretty good portion and it was roasted to my liking. Parking is free and the restaurant takes credit cards. The service is excellent. Because I had a surprise birthday cake for my wife that day, we did not get a chance to try out their desserts. Don't let the location discourage you. This is a fantastic place. We had the oxtail, quail, Gorgonzola gnocchi, marinated olives and Brussels sprouts. The oxtail had a tremendous broth. The quail was served with a delicious pomegranate sauce. We also enjoyed the olives and sprouts. I'm not a wine expert but they had very yummy Italian red wines. Ahh..Truffle Bistro. We go way back - back before COVID! Our family wanted to celebrate Mother's Day here and I'm extremely disappointed in how we were treated. Let me preface this by saying everyone that joined for dinner (4) all work in the Restaurant/Hospitality industry. We made a reservation for Mother's Day, which on arriving, were unable to be sat for 15 minutes as there were no available tables. Once a table was ready, we were sat - the only issue was that we were sat as 4 people at a 2 person table. There was no room to look at our menus and we were definitely playing Tetris under the table with our legs. Again, us being in the industry, we decide to just make the best of it and enjoy the night because we know the food would definitely make up for it! Randomly, a four-top table opened up and our server, Olivia, said she could move us there because it was obvious we were uncomfortable after adding a few glasses and plates. At this point the older chef, who we have always presumed as the owner, said no and said we can have a different table when they were done with their meal. We waited, like he said, and when the new table was no longer being used, he came over and asked "Are you going to move, or not?" Now, that's where our patience ended. We couldn't fathom what we did to upset, offend, or even disrespect anyone enough to be treated with that sort of disrespect. We presumed to order our food, to which our server Olivia was absolutely on top of. I want to reiterate that she was absolutely amazing, and that the service that faltered was specifically from who we presumed was the owner. The icing on the cake, was the table that we originally could have been relocated to was sat and treated with the highest level of service personally by the chef. He even greeted them, smiled, and checked on them consistently throughout the evening. Food was not good. Nothing tasted fresh or made in house. Service was nice and friendly. I love the idea of small plates. I really enjoy being able to try a variety of dishes. Came here on a Friday night expecting it to be busy, there was only one other group in the restaurant, I think that speaks volumes. The first thing you see is the ambiance. It is relaxing. The staff were friendly and greeted us immediately. We ordered their special tapas of mango with prosciutto. Dang it was good.
