    Duck breast with pomegranate sauce

I love tapas! My friend and I stopped by for an early dinner and got a few dishes to try. They were able to seat us despite no reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has an open kitchen concept where the owner is also the head chef.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were able to accommodate allergy concerns (balsamic on the side for the sprouts). The duck breast was slightly overcooked but the flavor was so good it didn't really matter. The gnocchi were pillowy and the short rib was super tender. The calamari steak was unique, and I enjoyed it! I'd come back the next time I'm in the area, and get someone else to drive so I can try some of their cocktails.

I went to Truffle Bistro for the first time last Sunday for a wine pairing dinner. There was a delicious 5 course meal paired with tasty wine from the Willamette valley. It was a full house and the staff handled it perfectly. I highly recommend trying it for a fun and delicious evening out.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This was a small cute restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff were really friendly and gave their opinions on food options. Service was great, we never ran out of water. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is very much open concept so you can see the kitchen from all angles.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I LOVED the way they presented their deserts for us to choose. They brought out the deserts on a tray for us to visually see what each looked like. Super cute, never saw a restaurant do it that way before.

    Gnocchi with Gorgonzola sayce

Truffle Bistro is an amazing place for Tapas - aka: appetizers. Everything we have EVER ordered has been delicious and we've tried almost everything on the menu. The only reason we haven't tried everything is that the owner, Henry, changes the menu to keep things fresh and in season. The place is very intimate with a cool vibe. Sit at the bar and watch the chefs work their magic We had Gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce, Spanish Sausages, Duck Breast in Pomegranate sauce, Lamb Meatballs, and Bacon-Wrapped Dates with Gorgonzola. For dessert we had Tiramisu (amazing!) and a Chocolate Dome over a Chocolate Lava Cake. And if that doesn't make you hungry - I don't know what would! It's a little pricey, but worth every dollar. You won't have anything else like it in Orange County.

This is a quaint place for tapas! Our server was really nice and offered recommendations. That was very helpful because they had an extensive menu and we were having a hard time picking dishes. We finally decided on stuffed mushrooms, red wine braised chorizo, short rib gnocchi, grilled octopus. The mushrooms were nice and savory. It was stuffed with cheese and perfectly seasoned and finished off with a sauce. The chorizo had a rich flavor that was heightened with the red wine braise. The octopus had a beautiful char and was accompanied with roasted potatoes and tomatoes. The latter added a nice freshness to every bite. The gnocchi was nice and tender and the short rib was flavorful. Great shareable meal!

    Chocolate dome dessert was divine!

We had such a great meal, I almost hate to tell others about this place! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Truffle Bistro provided a lovely, quiet evening with tapas, great wine, and live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We loved the artichokes, goat cheese and tomato sauce, and garlic shrimp. Didn't love the charge for extra bread, but overall prices were reasonable and comparable to appetizers at other establishments. Delaney was a gracious server with an excellent eye for best practices and guest preference. I'm looking forward to bringing friends and family to show off this special place in Orange.

    Brussels Sprouts (5 stars)

I'm really glad I liked this place because I didn't want to face the wrath of the owner, lol. I found the flavors to be superb, however definitely on the salty side (eating this salty might not be for everyone). I don't know if there's a term for it, but our lips were saturated with salt from certain items; I'll star the salty items below. Maybe you can request less sodium if you are looking out for your blood pressure? Pro tip: If you're getting something with sauce, ask for bread when you order so it comes out at the same time as your food Brussel sprouts - not many restaurants get this right but theirs were actually crispy and tasty Meatballs* - although simple, it was excellent; order bread Shrimp al ajillo - we loved the sauce on this one; order bread Oxtail** - this one was mouthwatering good. I'm not sure if I'm supposed drink the broth because it's so salty, but I did (well as much as I could) Duck breast* - I was most disappointed with this of all the dishes. It is part my fault for not asking what their "perfectly cooked" temperature is, but it came out medium with the end pieces being medium-well. I prefer medium-rare and should have requested that. Flavor and crispiness of the skin were perfect though (maybe ask for a little less sea salt on top if you're looking to cut back on sodium) Frutta di mare - simple but delicious. I like a lot of lemon on my seafood pasta so I asked for an extra slice to squeeze on top Limoncello dessert - haven't had many good ones in the past so I had low expectations but it was surprisingly scrumptious -staff was very attentive and accommodating -crushed red peppers actually had a little bit of a kick -we didn't think of it until after, but sit at the bar and watch the chef working his magic, if you can

Once we arrived, we realized how intimate and limited the seating was (so makes sense you need to book in advance). This is a great space for date night or a small group. I wouldn't try to come to this location with a large party. I loved the small and intimate dining experience! We got about half the menu and I'd absolutely get everything again. Some of our favorites were the bread + ham butter (a must), the burrata (another must), the mushrooms (I could eat these all day), and the octopus (insane). You can tell every dish has a recipe that has been specially curated for this restaurant, with so many unique flavors and combinations, that you just have to come check it out for yourself. I believe our server's name was Sam, and he was so wonderful! He even brought out their delicious basque cheesecake for the birthday we were celebrating! Just overall a very thoughtful, intimate, delicious restaurant that has easily become a top option for us! Highly recommend!

All the guests were noticeably and understandably uncomfortable and sweating the entire 3 hours. No one came to check on us or to apologize for the inconvenience. This was not the event we had envisioned for the guest of honor who was 8 months pregnant. It was not only uncomfortable but also posed a health risk. The restaurant showed a lack of concern, care and accountability over the entire situation. I understand that the weather and the AC breaking were out of anyone's control but the handling of the situation and the aftermath was poor. We tried to give the restaurant opportunities to make this right but they failed at every opportunity. Because of the lack of communication, poor decision making and incompetency, I cannot recommend this restaurant for any events. The servers were nice and the food was all right but there are many other acceptable options for food in the area.

The restaurant has such a cool look and vibe! We started off with the Hamachi crudo, salmon ceviche, and a bowl of clam "chowdah". The crudo was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans. We also got the skirt steak "bulgogi" which was served on top of mushrooms and bok choy with a sweet soy sauce. They accidentally brought out salmon instead of sea bass, but were very apologetic. They brought out a sea bass on the side and comped the entree to make up for it. Great service right there! The salmon and seabass were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The steak was tender and juicy, full of flavor. As a birthday gift they brought out a thai milk tea blondie sundae which was soooo good! Get it if you like sweets. I wish the owners all the best in their future endeavors, they created a great restaurant that many will miss. We took advantage of the Friends and Family menu they provide on Mondays Only from 5:00 to closing. We sat at the beautiful bar and were watched over by Jacob. The wife had some special non-alcoholic drink that was very pretty and tasted great. I went with the VACA Tonic, an icy concoction made with gin. It was super refreshing and a nice way to start. This menu has selected tapas items that range in price from $8 to $19. We ordered the Pan Con Tomate ($8) which comes with sliced toasted bread slices, tomato pulp, a delicious olive oil and a side of sea salt. You take a piece of toast, squirt some of the olive oil on top, then pour on the tomato pulp. Light, tasty and delicious. Next up, the Patatas Bravas ($9). Perfectly roasted spicy potato cubes, slathered with tomato sauce and a garlic aioli. WOW! So simple yet so good. I licked the plate clean. Next up, the Bikini Sandwich ($9). Two small perfectly toasted cheesy sandwich wedges that have Iberico ham, manchego cheese and a hint of truffles. It was really delicious and the special ham was the star of the show. These are great starting items, yet surprisingly filling. I couldn't stop there though and wanted to order some of their famous paella. I decided on the Paella De Carne ($53). This is a meat paella with pork belly, chorizo, blood sausage, duck confit (a leg & thigh), beef cheek, with bomba rice and a garlic aioli. You have to wait about 20 minutes for them to make it but it's worth the wait. It was perfectly cooked and awash in flavor. The special paella pan they prepare the dish in looked well seasoned and I wished I could have taken it home. The menu is extensive with lots of choices to accommodate any palate. The restaurant is beautiful and has a front and back patio seating. If you have a choice, sit on the back patio. There is valet parking for $12, but there is a parking structure right across the street that provides easy access and is free with validation.

They have Spanish menu items, several tapas and main dishes. We got 4 wines and both loved with whites and reds! La bola (8.5/10)-the meat inside was delicious wasn't overly crispy, sauce on top was too much but a classed dish Pani puri (9/10)-interesting concept scallop was delicious and sauce was rich, shell was crispy Cauliflower (7/10)-bit too salty and rich but they give you a good portion Steak (7.5/10)-we asked for medium but it was more in medium rare, good quality but small for price Churro (9/10)-cant beat a piping hot churro with chocolate sauce portion not too large Our server was friendly and vibe was classy Would love to try the paella my next visit!

The FOOD: 4.5/5 | Drinks: 5/5 Off the appetizers, we had the pork belly bites and dirty fries! First dish came with a long hot pepper, several mini tortillas, and 2 dipping sauces. The pork was crunchy on the outside and soft+succulent on the inside. I can see myself doubling up on this appetizer the next time I come. Dirty fries were great; it came with a generous amount of pickled onions - providing a really nice contrast to the savoriness of our meal. Our waiter graciously accommodated our request to have the egg on the side. Off the entrée/taco menu, my friend ordered the Korean tacos and I got the Ensenada (fish) tacos. But you can also order the Ensenada tacos with shrimp. These were delicious, I would have loved a little more lime crema to go with the fish - but not a big deal. I got a Watermelon Margarita. I wasn't expecting it to be HUGE, but it was the perfect amount considering how much food we as a pair ordered. My friend ordered the La Toxica table side cocktail and one additional mango cocktail. Table side cocktail was a whole show and my friend really enjoyed it. We had a great lunch at Tempo Cantina. I can't wait to try more of their bar menu, maybe even at night when the restaurant is lively

It was busy, upbeat, and just a really fun place to go. We recently found out they're under new management and apparently wanted to move away from the original "Tempo vibe." Well... mission accomplished because it was DEAD. Like, literally no one there. And instead of the loud, fun music we remembered, Michelle Branch was playing LOL. We were dying. At one point they even played a song I walked down the aisle to at my wedding, which is beautiful and all... but not exactly the Tempo experience I came for The food is still the same and was good, but everything that made Tempo Tempo feels completely gone. Now it just feels like a regular, quiet restaurant, and there are already plenty of those around. It's honestly a bummer because Tempo used to have such a fun energy and was always packed. I definitely don't see that line being out the door again anytime soon if this is the new direction.

After our party of six chatted over cocktails and preyed on pupus, we moved to a "secret" room tucked in the back of Stowaway and walked into a Belly Of The Beast. The founders and co-owners of Stowaway, Leonard Chan and Dominic Iapello, created this extension to the tiki bar with a wildly interesting Pinocchio theme and the famed encounter with Monstro the whale all the while serving the same offerings in Stowaway but with also an exclusive limited menu just for this adventure. With its proximity to Disneyland and its Enchanted Tiki Room, with the very niche underground-like society of tiki culture they found a consistent customer base and the thrill of island escapism through colorful cocktails, pleasurable pupus, tropical trimmings, and nostalgic know-how. How would my belly handle the beastly drinks concocted here!? PURCHASE(S) Gepetto's Last Words ($16.00): Intrigued by the cocktail's name, this elixir was crafted with Fid Street Gin, tangerine, creme de violette, lemon, and cucumber, it was a citrusy refreshing sweet drink that was decorated with bright yellow petals. It was nice, but for whatever reason it just didn't quite hit the spot. [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($9.00): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the catsup wasn't needed but used. SERVICE While in Stowaway, we informed our male server to let us know when we were allowed to enter the belly. Once inside and situated, we had the place and bartender to ourselves. After we all perused the menu, we placed our orders, and everything arrived within ten minutes. The rest of the time was spent chatting, picture taking, and our bartender checked in on us also giving a Dole Whip taster. All was casual, chill, and somewhat on island time - aloha and mahalo! PARKING (FREE): They shared a medium-sized private lot with several other businesses who were closed at this time with plenty of spots - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE "Hidden" inside Stowaway which was located within a strip mall, the entire theme was based on the Pinocchio story, the interlude in time spent inside Monstro, and as we entered it felt like the beginning of the Disneyland "Storybook" ride as you road a canal boat into the mouth and sharp teet of a whale. There were several marionettes (appropriate and non-appropriate) that hung from the ceiling and belly walls, along with other Disneyesque memorabilia, a few sitting booths, and a tiny bar at the end of the roo. No natural lighting whatsoever while an assortment of extremely low-lit electric lights and table candles glowed. There were no TVs while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Although I was actually dressed appropriately for the occasion in an aloha shirt, linen pants, and flip-flops, this place was totally casual, so a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops would suffice. OVERALL Belly Of The Beast was an adventurous fun evening with friends, it left me feeling childlike with the need to watch "Pinocchio", and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their awesome-soundling elixirs. I generally loved all-things Disneyana, and this new wrinkle, albeit probably not approved by the mouse ears brass, caught my fancy. My one drink was tasty but just didn't hit the right spot, the onion rings were very good, the prices were a tad elevated, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service was friendly and professional. They had an extremely limited menu, and there was some doubt whether or not ordering from the Stowaway menu was an option. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
