Prego is an upscale Italian restaurant located at The District at Tustin Legacy. The interior is spacious and classy, but I love eating on their their outdoor patio space! They offer brunch on weekends. We got the Braised Short Rib Hash and the Italian Benedict. The Braised Short Rib Hash has eggs, short rib, breakfast potatoes, and toasted focaccia. The Italian Benedict was unique in that it has San Daniele prosciutto and parmesan hollandaise, on toasted focaccia. Both were tasty, and I would get them again! They also offer an All Day Menu available daily. We got the Cacrciofi Blossoms which are crispy artichokes. It's served with a sriracha aioli. I really enjoyed these! They're battered and fried giving them a nice crunch on the outside, and the artichokes inside are soft and tender. We also got the Rigatoni Carbonara, and it was delicious! It has pancetta, tossed egg yolks, and pecorino with a touch of cream. Highly recommend this dish! Service was great. Everyone was welcoming and attentive. read more

This was our first visit here. I called and spoke with Christina, who was so very nice. I asked for a seating accommodation and Christine made it happen! When we arrived, I had the pleasure of meeting her and she was so nice. Our server, was Jose and he was excellent! Such a nice man. His timing was perfect. He checked on us frequently, but, was never intrusive. We ordered several items and everything was so delicious. We enjoyed the Meatball appetizer, shrimp salad. lasagna, tiger shrimp gigante and the tres leches cake. We loved everything! Our first time at Prego was a success! The ambiance was nice and relaxing, very chill vibe. Our server Kyleigh was very sweet and helpful with suggestions on the menu. I had the Penne Arrabbiata, the sauce was delicious! The portion was very filling as well. We also ordered the Tiger Shrimp Diavola. The pasta was good, but the sauce was on the lighter side. No fault of the chef, this is a matter of preference. I did enjoy the large shrimps and overall the dish was good. For drinks we ordered a glass of wine and an old fashion. Desert, we had the crème Brûlée, it was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. read more

We popped in here after a movie and sat at the bar. The bartender was super engaged and helpful. He told his name was Izzy. By the end of our dinner, we were chatting with size, and we decided he is one of the main reasons we will come back. He made our whole dinner fun and inviting. The restaurant itself wants to be really nice. It's just regular nice. The furniture and walls are a dark wood. It feels slightly dated. Like something from the 90's. The lighting is a little too bright for the dark steakhouse vibes they are going for. But, we enjoyed it regardless. The food was good for what it is. Nothing blew us away. But it was solid, and the flavors were right. The Caesar dressing on the salad was quality. It had just the right blend of flavors and lots of Parmesan. We got the filet of sole and it was nice and light. The sauce was good. I've had better. But, I liked it. The meatballs were in a great vodka sauce. They were tender. I am really picky about meatballs, and these stood up. We loved meeting some regulars at the bar. Izzy was extremely accommodating, helping us get the channel on the TV for opening night of baseball. Came for Valentines dinner, and naturally they were quite busy. After still waiting a while for our reservation to be ready, they sent us a text saying our table was ready, it took us around 1-3 minutes to walk back to the restaurant and the host had informed us they gave our table up since we were " late". But we ended up getting seated shortly after prob 15 minutes. LOVE the strong drinks here. We had an espresso martini and a Negroni. We also shared the wedge salad, the polpette della nonna, lasagna, and the short rib pappardelle. Highlight was the meatballs and the texture of the pappardelle which was cooked perfectly. The lasagna was also enjoyable with the sauce but the short rib pappardelle was a bit salty. Overall could have been better but it was decent enough. read more

This is nice higher-end Italian restaurant. We've been here a few times and it's usually not full. While it's white cloth, there were a fair number of families with kids. I had the lasagna and asked for a little extra marinara sauce. You can see from one of the pictures that's it's very meaty without any ricotta -- I liked it fine this way, but just be aware of you like ricotta. My wife had the lobster ravioli and it was excellent -- you could definitely taste the delicate rich flavor of the lobster. The crab crochette was not as great -- a bit mushy and not much crab flavor. Service was good and servers were friendly. So, overall, quite good! read more

My friend and I came to the District today and had lunch at Prego. Great location and getting there at a little before noon was very easy to get a table. We ordered the staple meatballs and spaghetti and the rigatoni. Both were excellent and good portions as well. Alan was a good waiter as well. It was a bit pricey but totally worth it. Absolutely loved the food here. We got the meatballs della nonna, lasagna di carnevale, and grilled salmone. The meatball appetizer came with two meatballs and I loved the soft polenta and creamy vodka sauce with it. The lasagna was great too and it seems like the ingredients they use here were very fresh. Went here for a double date with our friends after bowling to celebrate one of us becoming the champion. Unfortunately, the celebration fell flat because the food was extremely average. No one at the table was happy with what they ordered. We ended up ordering tiramisu at the end, hoping it would save the meal, but it was just cream with a thin layer of cake or ladyfingers, dusted with cocoa powder. Our server was very informative and fast. I was a bit bummed that we couldn't order from the all day menu and I was already prepared on what I wanted to order but had to change it due to the preset menu. We had Short Rib Papardelle - the short rib was very tender but I felt like the type of pasta that they used was a bit thick and heavy. Prob the best tasting on out of all the dishes I tried. So happy to have found Prego Restaurant in the District. We sat at the bar during happy hour and enjoyed the pear Gorgonzola salad, sautéed spinach, filet mignonettes with fries. Prego is still a great Italian spot! Came the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to meet some friends. We arrived shortly before the end of happy hour so we were able to get a drink at the bar and then move over to the dining area. The happy hour Moscow mule was a good start to the night. For an appetizer we ordered cheesy garlic bread for the table. It was fresh out of the oven. Then, for dinner I had the seafood di mare. I enjoyed the large shrimp, clams, mussels, and pieces of fish. A couple of us tried another cocktail, the refresher martini, which was recommended by our friendly waitress. It was a really nice refreshing cocktail to have while we continued chatting. I appreciated that our waitress didn't try to rush us out at the end of the night. read more

This is a really good spot to come have dinner or simply just to have drinks. Ambiance is good for either celebrations and or simply date nights. Full bar seating if you don't want to wait. Service is always good here. Servers are super nice, bar tender is very generous as well. I've had nothing but good experiences coming here. We ordered the meatballs for appetizers, super tender, great pairing with mushroom and their sauce they put together. These are the dishes I would recommend, the short rib parpedelle, lobster ravioli, and the seared scallop. All fantastic dishes and always leaving us wanting more. It's a small menu, Italian food but it packs the punch. We have been here several times and always enjoyed the dishes along with dessert. I had an afternoon to spend with one of my friends. of course we wanted Italian. so we decided to try Prego. I got the short rib pasta. She ordered the lobster ravioli. I tried her food. Very watered down, full of ice, couldn't really taste it. We ordered the short rib pappardelle pasta and the shrimp diavolo and tiramisu. The short ribs were actually chuck roast which a lot of restaurants do to save money but very deceiving to customers and not what we pay for. I told my boyfriend what he was actually eating and of course he wasn't picky. Shrimp diavolo was not spicy at all, didn't come with any flavor, I had to dress it up and it had lots of burnt noodles inside of it. I tried to make it work and suck it up but I couldn't do it after I ate the second burnt noodle and came across a 3rd one realizing what I was actually eating. I brought all my concerns to my waitresses attention and she handled everything excellently, she asked if I still wanted the dessert but after my experience with the drink and food, I had lost all confidence so I told her to just cancel it for me, which she did. Such a great Italian fine dining restaurant with a family friendly atmosphere. VERY kid friendly, as they catered to my daughter for everything she asked. They use high quality seafood and freshly made pasta. Oysters were fresh, lobster raviolis were a perfect balance between filling and pasta, and the kids portion was almost adult sized. Chef Ugo, our waitress Kelsey, and the hostess were so attentive and so happy to greet us. We appreciated their focus on our kid and ensuring she had a great dining experience. Easily one of the worst meals I've had in a while. I have walked by this place dozens of time and it was always empty. Now I know why. The consensus all around was that the food was not good. None of us ordered pasta so maybe that's why. I ordered the sole piccata and the texture was horrible, likely frozen and the vegetables were actually inedible. Others at the table mentioned their food being bland and not very good. The only person who enjoyed their dish had ordered one of the salads with seafood.
