I love Truly Pizza and think it's such a lovely spot, and the food I've had from them is genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, my experience at the Laguna Beach location was disappointing. My friend and I came without a reservation on Monday, and we completely understood that getting seated as a walk-in here can be nearly impossible, especially on a busy evening. What was disappointing was more so how the interaction was handled. When we asked the hostesses about a cancellation waitlist or any other options, the response felt pretty curt and dismissive. We weren't given much information or offered a way to put our names down, which left us feeling pretty unwelcome. We ultimately ended up leaving and driving to the Dana Point location instead. Truly Pizza in Laguna Beach was SO good! Everything we ordered was delicious, and I loved that we got to try both their round and square pizza styles. Garlic Pull Apart Bread -- warm, cast-iron baked bread with garlic butter and Romano. Such a perfect way to start! Dana Point Wedge -- iceberg wedge with herby ranch, dates, candied walnuts, bacon, and Point Reyes blue cheese. So flavorful and such a fun twist on a classic wedge. Potato Bianca -- a round white pizza with creamy sauce, potatoes, cheeses, garlic, and rosemary. This was unique, comforting, and absolutely delicious. Suprema -- a square pizza loaded with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, garlic, and giardiniera. So much flavor in every bite! Soft Serve -- we tried both Cookies & Cream and Olive Oil, Sea Salt & Lemon Zest. They were completely different from each other, but both were such a fun and delicious way to finish the meal. The service was exceptional from beginning to end. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and gave us so many great recommendations, which made it even more fun to try a variety of things from the menu. We also absolutely loved the outdoor ambiance. The patio has such a beautiful, relaxed Laguna Beach feel with a bright, airy atmosphere, greenery, charming decor, and plenty of natural light. It feels casual and comfortable while still being stylish and thoughtfully designed. It was the perfect setting for a leisurely lunch, and we could have easily stayed there for hours enjoying the food and atmosphere. One thing to know before you go: parking is definitely a challenge. Give yourself at least 15 extra minutes to find parking in the neighborhoods behind the restaurant, and be prepared for a little walk. Incredibly excited that we got to check out Truly Pizza in Laguna Beach! Ranked as being one of the best pizzerias in the world and in the Top 10 in the US; my curiosity only grew as we waited for about a month after getting our reservation! The restaurant itself was very elegant but not to the point where it's stuffy; definitely casual enough to bring friends and service was prompt and friendly. We tried out their famous Chichio pie which was a Super thin crust, tomato pizza with garlic oil, sea salt, oregano and grated sharp provolone. The hype is REAL with this pie; balanced with the flavors with an amazing sauce and with the perfect texture of crispy, yet with enough chew to make you appreciate the dough. Also tried out their Potato Bianca which was their white sauce pie that came with potato, garlic confit, chives, black pepper, goat cheese, and what seems like roasted rosemary along with their Suprema which was their square pie with cup pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms and garlic confit. What a lovely, Amalfi coast coded, restaurant! And it's all outdoor! It's difficult getting reservations so plan ahead and sign up for cancellations with them!! Truly the best pizza!!! We came to laguna for lunch while visiting our friends in Orange County. The cottage with lemon trees caught my eye. This location blends an Amalfi meets California vibe in a lush cottage style setting. There are two dining patios wrapped in trees, shrubs, and greenery. I'm still dreaming about their pizza. Truly pizza is unique due to its multi-day fermented artisanal dough. We ordered their La Foresta, Umami mushroom, skinny margarita and one of their square pizza specials. Every pizza, every bite was to die for, absolutely phenomenal. Their house salad was beautiful, light and refreshing, I loved the vinaigrette dressing. Their French fries are perfectly skinny and crispy tossed in sea salt, served with ketchup and their amazing house made herby ranch. If they sold their ranch, I would have bought some! The french fries were a huge hit, we ended up ordering a second order. I loved my Aperol Spirtz, it was rosemary-steeped aperol, prosecco, soda water. I TRULY wish for more locations to open. Let me give you some words of wisdom. If you plan on making a reservation, they are pretty packed so you need to really book ahead of time if you want to get a guaranteed time. Anywho, as someone who went to the Truly Pizza in Dana Point when it opened, I was curious to see what this new Laguna location brings. It's seated right next to Urth Caffe. Honestly, I think it is super cute. I love the bougainvilleas mixed with the lemons in this location. It's really pretty and has a European feel. In the back, there are some string lights and I think it would be so pretty at night! Good variety of pizza. I got the Spinach and Artichoke which is more of a deep dish pizza but it's not super heavy. It's tasty too! We got the sea salt and olive oil soft serve which I loved the olive oil paired with the soft serve. Beware, the soft serve is on the sweeter side, so I found myself digging for the olive oil to balance that out, which it does well. It's tasty though. My server Joey was really sweet. She was super attentive and awesome. Big props to her. She's great. Side note-- two individual bathrooms, which if both occupied can be a long wait so just keep that in mind too. Truly absolutely lived up to the hype. I honestly wasn't even that hungry, but we ordered two pizzas anyway and ended up bringing leftovers home. Somehow they were just as good the next day, which says a lot. This is easily some of the best pizza I've had. It was our first time, and I didn't realize the Laguna Beach location had only been open for about a month. It was very good, with incredibly fresh, high-quality ingredients and excellent flavor, but after trying the Mamma Mia, I would definitely lean toward their more creative specialty pizzas on future visits. Finally got to try the pizza place that's been all over my Instagram! We came around 12:00pm on a Friday and they told us the wait was around an hour. I guess if it's popular you can expect a long wait time, so be prepared. For starters we got the house salad which was honestly not too impressive, basically just iceberg lettuce and some light dressing. However, they are known for their pizza and that did not disappoint. Our group of 4 split 3 pizzas and we took home leftovers. First, we ordered the Viola, a thin crust pizza which was super pretty and topped with flowers! But our favorites were the square pizzas, the Smoky Vodka and Suprema. The crust is fluffy, almost like a focaccia, and the flavor combinations were hitting. These pizzas made the wait truly worth it! We actually ordered our dessert before the meal , since the pizzas take about 30 minutes to cook after ordering. But we shared the soft serve the truly way, which comes with olive oil, salt, and lemon zest. This was very delicious, all the flavors paired very well and it was almost refreshing! We were here during soft opening. We've been a long time patrons of Truly in Dana Point and so we wanted to try this newly opened one in Laguna Beach. We've seen several businesses open and close soon after in this exact location. We're hoping Truly's stays open. But that didn't deter us as we love Truly and we were all truly excited to try this location. As usual, the food was delicious! We had some chicken wings (Harissa and plain), fries and of course some pizza! We had the La Foresta and the sweet and spicy (our fave) with added pepperoni. If you know the Truly vibe, this location is more on brand! However, we still do love the Dana Point location and they did really good making you feel you're in a different more "in nature" location even if it's between building structures/ parking. My 3 star rating comes from not being able to make a reservation on their site. I checked every day at any hour for the next month and it says there is NONE? I am not sure how that is even possible, and I'm sure there is a single opening at any time in the next month lol. The time I went I walked up on a Wednesday at 4pm, they said the next reservation wasn't until 8pm. We said okay fine we'll walk around hangout go to a bar close by. I didn't realize there was a back patio with seating as well and it was cool back there on a hot day. It's nice so you don't get too hot but I did ask for a blanket. As for service, I thought it was just ok. We literally sat there over 10min before our waitress decided to come and even greet us. We had already looked over the whole menu watching all the servers walk around us. Not sure if there was a shift break or what but I was not impressed. I noticed other tables right after they sat down, they were being greeted. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt this time. But it was ok. The flavor was great overall, but we both expected there to be some spiciness due to its name, but we never detected any heat at all. I actually like the look of this one more than the Dana Point location it looks like youre dining in a garden. Less busy too. Shoutout Andrew fr. Chopped it up with us alot and was very enthusiastic about his recommendations. That being said here's my opinion on the food: The seasonal burrata (with artichoke dip?) was delicious. I often overlook burrata onna menu but this one had me dipping my leftover pizza crust. I got the seasonal potato bianca pizza because I love veggies and potatoes. On that end it performed, but could use sumn tangy I hit it with some calabrian chili that we got on the side and it definitely helped. The Dante was good, I wished it had more of that vodka sauce as advertised. The Smoky Vodka with sesame crust was sensational hit at our table. A fusion of many different flavors including the bright acidic vodka sauce itself, the smoky proscuitto, the creamy burrata, and even a hint of pesto (or maybe just hella herbs) checked all the boxes we like in a pizza. We tried the pepperoni and the Supreme; and it was pretty filling! About 20-30 minute wait, but we got fries as appetizers that were really yummy! Was unable to reserve a table so decided to come in as a walk-in. Was greeted immediately, vibe was decent for OC & was assured of a spot on a wait list. Once the wait was over we were handled with a lot of care, multiple people attending us as well as a manager providing us with an umbrella to better the shade where we sat. All in all I felt the food was spectacular and well seasoned; looking forward to my leftovers! Almost deducted points for the fake flowers and faded and fake lemons above the patio above the waiting area but I'll let it slide. read more

I was sooooo excited for Truly to open in Laguna yall have no idea. Been dreaming about it since I went to their og Dana Point location so I'm so happy they opened closer to me in Laguna (prime real estate right in front of Main Beach) Just as good as I remember! The Sweet & Spicy was one I knew I had to reorder just because of how good it was last time, my god it still might be my favorite one even though I tried a lot of new stuff today. I just love a sweet savory combo with the hot honey and the airy crust is perfection. It looks super thick but it's not heavy at all- it's very airy and you're able to eat a lot more slices than you'd expect. Truly White was also amazing it's basically a bunch of different types of cheeses which is hard to not come onnnn. I would definitely recommend trying this one first right as it comes out as the cheese hardens more than the other pizzas on our table! Knew I had to try the Ciccio coming in- it's super thin and crispy, and you can really taste how fresh the tomato sauce is because of that and how minimal the cheese is on top. This one would be great as an appetizer, probably better than the appetizer we did order- the whipped ricotta. It was still good, I think it just didn't feel as worth the money for the portion size as any of the pizzas we ordered. The Smoky Vodka was also sooo good. Tbh it's pretty similar to the Sweet & Spicy pizza, so I'd say choose between the two when ordering. I feel like that's also because I'm allergic to pesto, so we got it on the side, and I feel like that would've made the pizza taste different and better. Server was super kind about the accommodation! The presentation is super pretty with all the basil. Our server was amazing in giving us detailed explanations of their pizzas and what makes them truly unique! Super helpful in letting us know what kinds of add-ons were available, and checked up on us multiple times. I also really like the vibe of this Truly- I think it might be a little smaller and clustered than the Dana Point location, but this one has that irreplaceable Laguna charm! One thing I will note is that our seats got a lot of direct sunlight, as well as some other tables around us, so I wish they had some more shading. These are all just super small critiques though and I really do love Truly so much. It's definitely the best pizza I've had in California, I would probably say I've ever had anywhere too since I prefer a thicker lighter slice over a thin floppy New York slice. Truly pizza opened a new location in Laguna on PCH and of course I came running. The dana point location is a favorite of mine so I wanted to see how comparable it is. For starters, make reservations as walk in wait times can be atrocious especially on the weekends! Otherwise all seating is outside, charming and quaint. Aesthetically not as cute as Dana point but has its own charm. The only ding when we were first seated we waited about 15-20 minutes and noticed other tables seated after us getting serviced. A gal noticed and apologized, may have heard me comment, but she jumped in to take our drink order. Server came shortly after and apologized so no big deal. Otherwise food is delicious here and the wait time for food was standard. The food is same excellent quality as Dana point. Recommend any of their pizzas. All delicious! Pricing is on the higher end but worth it for the quality. Would recommend! read more

It pains me to give Truly Pizza in Laguna Beach a bad review. Truly Pizza in Dana Point is my favorite pizza place in all of OC and I was looking forward to trying their new location. The Good: The restaurant in Laguna Beach is way more charming than the one in Dana Point. All the seating is outside, around a house and feels like it's been there for years. Our waiter was a newbie, but he provided good service. The Dana Point Wedge was as good as I remembered it to be. The Bad: Our Cheese pizza came and it looked burnt on the bottom. I took a bite, and yes, indeed, the pizza was burnt. I ate what I could off the top. A big miss. I thought the Umami Mushroom would make up for the experience. It's my favorite pizza at Truly. However, when I bit into it, I got a mouthful of grease. This has NEVER happened to when I've eaten at Truly. To have one pizza miss the mark is one thing, but both? The Ugly: I tried emailing the restaurant about my experience. I received a basic canned response about the restaurant hours and reservation info. I also reached out messaging on social media but did not hear back. I thought that they would have at least replied saying that the restaurant was new and still trying to find its footing and that they were hoping that I would give them another chance. However, I guess they are so successful, they don't give a hoot about negative experiences because they have customers desperate to eat there. Tip: Reservations are available 30 days in advance, so definitely book ahead if you can. Otherwise, they do accept walk-ins but you'll have to wait. read more

I don't even know where to begin. We had a girls' day at Truly Pizza today, and it was one of those dining experiences where everything was exceptional from start to finish. First, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated after only about a 3-minute wait with no reservation. From the hostess to the water service, every single person we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to have us there. The vibe was lovely, relaxed, and fun. We sat outside and couldn't have asked for a better afternoon. Our server, Trent, absolutely made the experience. From the moment we sat down, he took the time to walk us through the menu, explain the different pizza styles, share his personal favorites, and help us decide what to order. He never rushed us and was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. You can tell he truly loves what he does. We started with the whipped burrata appetizer, which was light, fresh, and so delicious. The perfect way to start the meal without feeling too heavy before the pizza arrived. For pizza, we ordered the Potato Bianca and the Vodka pizza. I highly recommend ordering two different styles. The Vodka pizza was their thicker style, and as they say, "looks like a brick, feels like a feather." That description couldn't be more accurate. It was somehow airy, light, and packed with flavor all at once. The Potato Bianca, on the other hand, had that beautiful classic thin crust and was absolutely to die for. We loved experiencing both styles side by side. The cocktails were equally impressive. We tried the Hugo Spritz, the Truly Spritz, the Tommaso Collina, and the Baja Med margarita, which featured rosemary smoked tableside. We also had the hibiscus gin cocktail, and every single drink was fantastic. To finish, we shared the Truly Lemon Olive Oil Sea Salt soft serve, which was the perfect ending to an already incredible meal. Honestly, whether you read this entire review or not, just go. The food was outstanding, the service was unforgettable, and the overall experience was one of the best restaurant visits we've had in a long time. Love the pizza at Truly. This was our first time at the Laguna Beach location and it was a very nice experience sitting in the back patio area. Service was great as expected, and the pizzas were delicious (no surprise). We tried the new Super Skinny Margherita, and OMG I would highly recommend it. Looooved the paper thin crust and tasty sauce, topped with basil and dollops of cheese. So yummy! We also got our usual fave, the Sweet & Spicy, as well as the Crispy Pepperoni. For dessert we ordered the soft serve, Truly way, with olive oil, sea salt and lemon zest. The only reason I reduced 1 star was because the chairs were so darn uncomfortable and hurt my tailbone. Absolutely the best pizza I've had in my life! I'm not a huge pizza person, but I will crave this, I just know it. Idk how they do it, but it's something about their crust! I understand why it's almost impossible to get a reservation and you're going to be waiting hours if you walk up. Finally, a place worth the hype! We got the margarita, pizza and one of their meat pizzas and the margarita was our favorite, but both were absolutely insanely delicious.
