WOW, this place was better than the first time I've had it, though it was the Dana Point location. Just with the first impressions, I think location wise, this place was already better. It's right by the PCH (which can get pretty loud with cars honking), but there's more to do in the area and it's right across from the beach. The patio seating is definitely more intimate with a lot more greenery. Just like the Dana Point location, they have the fake lemons all around. Last time, we ordered the tomato champion and though it was really good, I thought it was too crunchy. Because of that, we decided to opt for the square slices and omg it was so incredible. I would 100% recommend the sweet & spicy. It had the perfect crunch and chew and the toppings were super fresh. The tomato flavor was bright and I loved all the toppings. The harissa honey wings were also great as a starter. Don't forget to order a side of ranch to dip your pizza in! It's more of a dill ranch, which is one of my favorite variations. Lastly, get the soft serve. They use straus organic milk for the base. Service was great. I have to give them props due to the fact that it's extremely busy on a saturday night. Just a tip, make reservations through open table. The weekends book up instantly when they get released so just be ready to fight for them. Made it to Truly Pizza Laguna Beach! I have to say this place lived up to the hype. Truly Pizza is on the Main Street on PCH so parking is really the most challenging aspect of dining here. Fortunately we got lucky with an open spot on the street. Our reservation was for 7:00pm and we waited another 7mins before being seated. No biggie. I believe this location was once a home, turned commercial. It's beautifully decorated with lots of plants and foliage everywhere. Really nice ambiance. As far as I know, it's all outdoor dining which is set throughout the front, side and back. We were seated in the back. Our server was thorough in explaining the menu. We went with Whipped Ricotta and Wedge Salad as appetizers with Crispy Pepperoni and Potato Bianca as our main course. All the dishes were really good! Whipped ricotta was light and tasty with the toasted bread super light and crispy. The wedge salad was simply delicious! Lettuce was fresh, crisp with a light herb ranch dressing that was perfection! The Crispy Pepperoni pizza was really good. Had a very flavorful classic style pizza. And the Potato Bianca was tasty as well. Although filled with plenty of potato's, it has a light potato flavor so it's not overwhelming. The crusts on both pizza is Amazing! Light, airy, tiny crispy bubbles. Just so good. We had an amazing time at Truly! We went today for my friend's birthday and loved every minute of it. First, the restaurant itself is soooooo cute! It's outside but has lots of umbrellas and trees for shade. They also have fire warmers when it gets cold. It really has a cute and sophisticated outdoor cottage feel. It's very clean, decorated nicely, organized, and comfortable. They are very child and stroller friendly, which is also a plus! The service is amazing. Everyone we came into contact with was so sweet, welcoming, and helpful. They even brought my friend an ice cream for her birthday. Literally so sweet! Last but not least, the FOOD! It took over a month to get a reservation, so this visit was a long time coming! I had tried to get in during the Sawdust Art Festival, but the line of people hoping to grab a table from a no-show was just as long as the takeout line. And even the takeout orders had a 45-minute wait. On top of that, the specialty pizzas weren't available to go, they don't allow it! LOL but that is their stance and they will stick by it. Once we finally made it in, the customer service was wonderful. The manager was friendly and welcoming, and we really enjoyed chatting with him. He told us about a new Venice Beach location expected to open later this year or early next year. Of course, I had to practically beg him to bring a location to San Diego, probably won't happen any time soon though. Now for the food, the smoky vodka pizza was my favorite. The dough had a soft, spongy texture with that subtle sourdough tang I loved. Just enough to give each bite a little extra flavor. And the homemade ranch? I absolutely loved it! The house salad was light and refreshing, exactly what I wanted on such a scorching hot day. The refreshing drinks were another highlight, and the vanilla soft serve topped with lemon zest and sea salt was a lovely way to finish the meal. Would I go back? Yes, especially if getting a walk-in table were an option. I'd also be open to trying their Dana Point location. We've heard so many great things about Truly Pizza and finally made the drive from LA to try it for ourselves. With all the hype surrounding it, I'm happy to say it lived up to expectations. I think Truly Pizza truly lives up to its name! Snagging a reservation here is a little difficult considering how popular it is, but you won't regret it. My boyfriend made a reservation around 8:30pm on a Thursday, and even though they close at 9pm, I noticed that they continued to take walk-ins and seat reservations even past their closing time. One of the first things I noticed upon entering the establishment was how cute and intimate the decor was. It seemed like a lot of couples were there on dates, which was so sweet! It took us about half an hour to get seated even with a reservation, but the food absolutely did not disappoint. For food, we ordered the Dana Point wedge salad to start and two pizzas: the crispy pepperoni round with stracciatella and Mamma Mia square pizza with added sausage. The Dana Point wedge is one of the best salads I've ever had. I've never had a salad that checked all the marks in regards to texture and flavor. The iceberg lettuce was crunchy and paired perfectly with the herby ranch. You have sweetness from the candied walnuts and dates, but they both provide their own unique mouth feel to the salad. Blue cheese crumbles and bacon bits add a savory edge, and everything is balanced out with a bite of a bite from the red onion. 11/10. Out of the two pizzas, the crispy pepperoni was phenomenal. The crust on it is incredibly crispy, almost as if it were fried, but the dough still maintained a conventional chewy bite. Of course you can't go wrong with pepperoni, and the added stracciatella added an extra layer of creaminess. All the ingredients were fresh and danced together to create a beautiful savory slice of pizza. My boyfriend is a certified pizza lover, and Truly ranks #1 for him. The Mamma Mia was delicious too. I personally don't like super doughy pizzas, but my boyfriend and I wanted to try both varieties offered at Truly. I would definitely recommend trying it if you haven't had this style of pizza before-the dough was fluffy and chewy, and I thought it worked great with the toppings it came with. Service was great. Finally got to eat at this restaurant and I def understand the hype. We made the reservation a month out in advance right when it opened and I would recommend doing the same. We also planned to get there 10 minutes early since it's all street/neighborhood parking in that area so we had to circle around for a bit The restaurant itself was really cute and super close to the beach which was nice. It was fully outdoors I think with some seating in the front and the back. There was lots of shade though so we weren't sitting out in the sun or anything. Overall a bit pricey but I think it was worth it since we also had a quarter of the pizza left over afterwards Spagnola salad: 3/5 I don't really like arugula but the dressing was pretty sweet so it did mask the bitterness a bit. We've been coming down to Laguna Beach 2 weeks per year since the last century. This quaint Craftsman-style bungalow began life as Madison Square and Garden Cafe, a charming cafe and gift/home decor shop that served a great breakfast and lunch. The front, back and side yards always had mature trees and landscaping; Madison Square also had dozens of water fountains (for sale) and a koi pond/fountain in the front yard, adding to the peaceful dining setting. The spot segued into several other eateries, I only remember one called Number Three because there were pretty much just 3 items per meal on the menu. Truly Pizza is by far the busiest restaurant to occupy this spot. It's the first one to offer reservations (via Open Table) which sell out 30 days in advance. I was fortunate enough to be seated as a walk-in on a weekday at 11:00 opening. It seems the summer crowds have slightly dissipated, but surely weekends remain in high demand. This location of Truly Pizza has been open about 5 months. According to my server Trent (shout out!), it took about 2 years for them to redo the space. Trent migrated from the original location in Dana Point. The bungalow, which used to have some seating, is now closed to guests and is entirely the kitchen space. Two restrooms have been added to the side, with exterior access. Dining areas remain in the front, back and side yards, with much of the original landscaping/trees. They've added 2 pergolas in front for shade and weather protection; these are covered with faux bougainvillea and lemon vines bursting with faux fruit and flowers. There are real lemon trees with real fruit lining the front yard sidewalk areas, creating an interesting juxtaposition. The koi pond and all water features are gone. There are many umbrellas, heat lamps (as needed) and flame-lighting. Parking is a challenge; the 4 spots in the rear are for management, 10-minute pickup and handicapped only. Truly Pizza is a collaboration between a female hospitality entrepreneur, a pizza guru and two pizza chefs who were World Pizza Champions teammates and winners. The menu offers starters, salads, sandwiches, round and square pizzas, desserts and a full bar. The pizzas of course are artisan and all ingredients are locally sourced from Orange County farms. I had early dinner plans, so I ordered lightly on this first visit. Trent explained there were 3 pizza crusts: round extra-thin and crispy, round thin and crispy, square slightly thicker but still airy and crisp. There are 2 prize-winning pizzas currently on the menu--tomato and cheese and umami mushroom. I chose the mushroom, which was delish. They could have been more generous with the marinated roasted mushrooms, but the crust was excellent, crisp with puffy edges and slightly burnt areas. My Shirley Temple was nicely presented as a bottle of 7-Up accompanied by a glass with ice and the Shirley Temple red syrup fixings. For dessert, I had to try the soft serve ice cream; Trent said where is was from but I don't remember. There are 5 topping choices. I chose pistachio. Also delish. Overall (4/5) Truly Pizza is a very well known and highly rated spot, so I wanted to see what the hype was about. Overall it was a good experience, but the pizzas were pretty inconsistent and we ended up getting both extremes instead of that perfect Goldilocks pizza. First Impressions (4/5) The setup is really cool, with the main building being the kitchen and outdoor seating surrounding it. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed, and the staff was welcoming and liked to chat. What We Got (4/5) * Sweet and Spicy pizza: Very light with nicely melted cheese, but the crust was extremely crunchy. * Mamma Mia: Much heavier with a lot of toppings, but the crust was softer, airy, and tasty. * Pepperoni: Added as a side topping. * Garlic pull apart bread: Mostly bread with a little cheese on top, served with marinara. The marinara was tasty but the bread was a little underwhelming. Taste and Quality (3.5/5) The pizzas were pretty inconsistent. The Sweet and Spicy was so crunchy that it actually made our gums feel a little raw. We went close to opening, and the people I was with said it normally isn't this crunchy. The sweetness only really came through toward the end and the spice was barely noticeable. The Mamma Mia was almost the complete opposite. It had a lot of toppings and was heavier, but the crust was much softer, light, airy, and tasty. There was a bit too much mozzarella for my taste. Incredibly excited that we got to check out Truly Pizza in Laguna Beach! Ranked as being one of the best pizzerias in the world and in the Top 10 in the US; my curiosity only grew as we waited for about a month after getting our reservation! The restaurant itself was very elegant but not to the point where it's stuffy; definitely casual enough to bring friends and service was prompt and friendly. We tried out their famous Chichio pie which was a Super thin crust, tomato pizza with garlic oil, sea salt, oregano and grated sharp provolone. The hype is REAL with this pie; balanced with the flavors with an amazing sauce and with the perfect texture of crispy, yet with enough chew to make you appreciate the dough. Also tried out their Potato Bianca which was their white sauce pie that came with potato, garlic confit, chives, black pepper, goat cheese, and what seems like roasted rosemary along with their Suprema which was their square pie with cup pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms and garlic confit. This location blends an Amalfi meets California vibe in a lush cottage style setting. There are two dining patios wrapped in trees, shrubs, and greenery. I'm still dreaming about their pizza. Truly pizza is unique due to its multi-day fermented artisanal dough. We ordered their La Foresta, Umami mushroom, skinny margarita and one of their square pizza specials. Honestly, I think it is super cute. I love the bougainvilleas mixed with the lemons in this location. It's really pretty and has a European feel. In the back, there are some string lights and I think it would be so pretty at night! Good variety of pizza. I got the Spinach and Artichoke which is more of a deep dish pizza but it's not super heavy. It's tasty too! We got the sea salt and olive oil soft serve which I loved the olive oil paired with the soft serve. Beware, the soft serve is on the sweeter side, so I found myself digging for the olive oil to balance that out, which it does well. It's tasty though. My server Joey was really sweet. She was super attentive and awesome. Big props to her. She's great. Side note-- two individual bathrooms, which if both occupied can be a long wait so just keep that in mind too. I am a huge pizza guy so when I saw a lot of social media content being created around the location in Dana Point, I was pretty excited to hear that they opened one in Laguna Beach since its a bit closer to where I am. Finally got to try this place out a couple weeks ago and to sum up my experience: Great tasting pizza, good service, and a cool ambiance. The prices are a bit high for it being pizza but with that being said, the pizza does have that high quality taste. The servers were attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was clean/contemporary with a great coastline view of the beach. Is it the best pizza I've ever had? No. But I'd say it's in the top ten. I would definitely come back to try other things on the menu if I happen to be in the area and I'm craving pizza. read more

I'm already a big Truly Pizza fan and have been to the Dana Point location several times, so I was excited to finally try Laguna Beach. We came around noon on a Friday and somehow hit the jackpot--no reservation...no line. As I expected...the food was excellent. The wedge salad had a fantastic creamy dill ranch with crispy bacon chunks, and the focaccia with burrata and artichoke app was flavorable, herby, creamy and delicious. We had the Institutional pizza crust (special) with tomato sauce and a blanket of cheese over a super-thin, crispy sesame seed crust. Really good. I may try the thick crust next time as I saw many people opting for it. Our waiter was awesome--funny, personable and very knowledgeable about pizza from his time working at places in New York and at BJ's. Dessert was another winner: creamy blended vanilla gelato with olive oil, sea salt and lemon zest. Sounds unusual, tastes fantastic. Cool Laguna Beach location, great food and great service. It feels like more than just a restaurant--a destination where you can eat, walk around town and make an outing of it. One of my favorite pizza restaurants. If you're a pizza lover, Truly Pizza is absolutely worth the visit. It's a beautiful artisanal pizza restaurant with a relaxed Laguna Beach vibe, and it's easy to see why it's so busy. They're still fairly new and are clearly focused on providing outstanding food and service. Our server was fantastic. He recommended the Square Pizza Mamma Mia and Our Cheese pizza, and his recommendation couldn't have been better. The Mamma Mia was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The combination of fresh and whole milk mozzarella, baked ricotta, house-made meatballs, sweet and hot pickled Fresno peppers, fresh basil, and Sicilian oregano created an incredible balance of flavors. The crust was outstanding, crispy on the outside, light and airy inside. I'm normally a thin-crust pizza person because I don't like eating a lot of dough, but I would return just for this square pizza. We also tried Our Cheese pizza. It was very good, with incredibly fresh, high-quality ingredients and excellent flavor, but after trying the Mamma Mia, I would definitely lean toward their more creative specialty pizzas on future visits. We started with the Seasonal Burrata, and wow! I'm usually not an artichoke fan, but this appetizer completely changed my mind. It was fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. I can't wait to order it again. The Dana Point Wedge salad was another pleasant surprise. Crisp iceberg lettuce, homemade herby ranch, candied walnuts, local dates, smoked bacon, blue cheese, and fresh herbs made for a refreshing, flavorful salad that paired perfectly with the pizzas. For dessert, our server recommended vanilla ice cream topped with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. At first, I honestly thought it sounded strange, but it ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. The combination was rich, creamy, slightly savory, and absolutely delicious. It's something everyone should try at least once. One thing to know before you go: they're currently not offering takeout because they're still expanding their kitchen capacity and waiting on additional ovens. They're focusing on providing the best possible experience for their dine-in guests first, which I actually respect. Once takeout becomes available, I'll definitely be ordering it, even if it means enjoying it in the curb while it's still hot! Every dish we ordered was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the attention to detail really shows. I can see why this place is top rated because they really pay attention to the little details to build the branding of the restaraunt. Theres long waits, but you're probably better going at opening than waiting before opening since theres a small bench area inside the gates but limited shade outside and not much sidewalk space. We also walked here from other parts of laguna beach but the trolley makes it convenient, its pretty close to urth. I think its completely outdoor seating with more seating than expected, some of the seats can be close together but still has a lovely ambiance. They have windows to show workers prepping toppings or stretching the pizza and the waiters/front of house have a nice system going with escorting you to your table. People here are dressed nicely, but it is outdoors so casual okay just a bit elevated . Reservation only for parties of 4 plus when I looked but the other location has some limited 2 party slots, so walk in recommended The menu is designed sort of like a handwritten letter and the pizza box even has a letter of how much love was put into the pizza. Its these touches that make me appreciate this place more. We got the la foresta and the smoky vodka which was kind of big for two people to share. Their crust is on the chewy side, the rectangular style pizza is thick with nicely formed gluten air bubbles, but I actually like the flavor/artistry of the round pizza more. La foresta- mushroom, love the mushrooms cooked inside, not greasy despite being a white pizza base, the dollops are some mushroom mousse. Smoky vodka- not super heavy of what'd you expect of a creamy pasta sauce, the crust is rather robust in texture (like chewy and thick) the stracciatella was super liquid so this one can be surprisingly a bit messy. Not much of a smokey taste but hearty. I''ve never seen fresh basil be in the form of sprouts rather than whole leaves. While I don't particularly remember the pizzas have a nice bounce/cheese pull, I do think they shine in artisinal flavors. The wings at a glance also looked substantial and were on the saucier side. Both pizzas were brought out at the same time and steaming hot fresh. The flavors are not too greasy/ heavy but filling. The soft serve with olive oil is a bit of a skip, the soft serve is amazing and Id highly recommend ( they have custom plastic stamped spoons), but the way the olive oil mixed found it to have pockets of too salty and oily rather than able to be incorporated in to enhance the flavors so I'd probably choose something else. Another key point was our server An was super courteous, she was patient with our ordering, checked in, and nonjudgemental for our requests. Finally had a chance to check out Truly Pizza in Laguna Beach. We were seated under huge shade trees to the side of the house and it was a perfect spot with the super hot weather we've been having! Had the buffalo wings to start then the round classic pepperoni pizza... delicious! Love the slight crisp and yet chewy crust! Wow their pizzas are out of this world. I had la foresta, so impressed. The crust is crispy and soft at the same time. My second time, I walked in and put my name on the list. The estimated time of wait would be 1.5 hours, then I got a text our table was ready in 20 mins. I missed the text, we walked back and Tessa the host made our day, because we got a table even though we showed later than the text notification. Finally got to try the pizza place that's been all over my Instagram! We came around 12:00pm on a Friday and they told us the wait was around an hour. I guess if it's popular you can expect a long wait time, so be prepared. For starters we got the house salad which was honestly not too impressive, basically just iceberg lettuce and some light dressing. However, they are known for their pizza and that did not disappoint. Our group of 4 split 3 pizzas and we took home leftovers. First, we ordered the Viola, a thin crust pizza which was super pretty and topped with flowers! But our favorites were the square pizzas, the Smoky Vodka and Suprema. The crust is fluffy, almost like a focaccia, and the flavor combinations were hitting. These pizzas made the wait truly worth it! We actually ordered our dessert before the meal , since the pizzas take about 30 minutes to cook after ordering. But we shared the soft serve the truly way, which comes with olive oil, salt, and lemon zest. This was very delicious, all the flavors paired very well and it was almost refreshing! Finally, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible service! They were very friendly and attentive. I love Truly Pizza and think it's such a lovely spot, and the food I've had from them is genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, my experience at the Laguna Beach location was disappointing. My friend and I came without a reservation on Monday, and we completely understood that getting seated as a walk-in here can be nearly impossible, especially on a busy evening. What was disappointing was more so how the interaction was handled. When we asked the hostesses about a cancellation waitlist or any other options, the response felt pretty curt and dismissive. We weren't given much information or offered a way to put our names down, which left us feeling pretty unwelcome. We ultimately ended up leaving and driving to the Dana Point location instead. I still love Truly Pizza overall, so I'm hoping this was just an off experience with the service that evening! read more

We were here during soft opening. We've been a long time patrons of Truly in Dana Point and so we wanted to try this newly opened one in Laguna Beach. We've seen several businesses open and close soon after in this exact location. We're hoping Truly's stays open. Came here to celebrate a birthday for one in our group, and we brought one who is a newbie to Truly. There was a long queue once we got here, which was as soon as it opened. But that didn't deter us as we love Truly and we were all truly excited to try this location. As usual, the food was delicious! We had some chicken wings (Harissa and plain), fries and of course some pizza! We had the La Foresta and the sweet and spicy (our fave) with added pepperoni. If you know the Truly vibe, this location is more on brand! However, we still do love the Dana Point location and they did really good making you feel you're in a different more "in nature" location even if it's between building structures/ parking. Ambiance is so nice and still shielded from the harsh sun with the greenery and coverings they put in. So calming and tastefully decorated. And this location is also licensed to offer not just wine but cocktail drinks as well! Oh yes!! Service is good, staffs nice and food came out quickly! Came as an early birthday celebration and left so happy! For drinks, we ordered their pear cider and LOVED it. Unlike the Dana Point location, they have an extensive cocktail menu and can make you anything you'd like. We knew we wanted pizza so we ordered the La foresta and La deu. Both were incredible but I preferred the La Deu, if I had to choose. Try both! If you like ranch on your pizza, you'll love theirs. Absolutely ask for a side of ranch. We were seated in the back under trees and heaters and thought it was such a nice environment for a meal.
