My friend and I ventured in here because we heard there's live music ($10 cover charge on weekends) It's a dive bar fersure We came in dressed up from dinner and we were way over dressed. Come in casual, grab some drinks; and dance! The band was great, good vibes all around, customers were having a blast. There's some games you can play, the bathrooms are dirty, come prepared. Fun place for younger crowd to come hang! Bartenders were friendly.

A very happening dive bar in Laguna Beach. Came for some drinks with friends and had a good time. $5 cover charge and live bands on weekends. However this place gets busy, as in no room to move busy. Getting drinks at the bar is not an easy feat and there is very limited tables and seating. And coming here in the summer was like walking into a sauna. Super hot and no ventilation, no patio to get any air. That was honestly the worst part, definitely won't come back in unless the weather is cool from now on. The band was great though and dance floor was fun and lively.

Dive bar-amunamondo!! It's so damn loud and the DB levels are 110! My ears hurt and bf's tinnitus is raging. Other than that, the drinks are average and it's filled to capacity during the omicron Covid spike so I feel like Debbie downer...waaaah wahhhhh lol

"Reminds me of NYPD Blue." I don't mean the police station--I mean the bars they are always raiding to drag out criminals. Well okay, it's not really that bad, but it does have a certain edgy feel to it. The day that I visited, there were no police raids, and hardly anybody was dragged away. On busy weekends, they actually have five bouncers! One of them has to watch the back door. The day that I visited they were running a special on Old World Hefeweizen beer. Only $3 a bottle! Of course in the daytime there was no live music. I'm going to come back when "Local Remedy" is playing. I've heard a lot about that band--especially the singer, Brian Roark. I believe he's been playing at the Dirty Bird for 8 years now. I hear he's fantastic and I'm going to hear him perform tonight at the Sawdust Festival. There's a long and grand history to the Dirty Bird. I had a chance to talk to the latest owner, Chuck, who explained the family heritage of the bar. The bar has been running for over 70 years. So if you want to have an NYPD experience, come visit here. Or perhaps a Hill Street Blues experience. Special shout out to the very friendly bartender AJ. He was kind enough to give me a little history of the bar.

Let me tell you like this, you will never find a better dive bar than The Sandpiper Lounge Aka the Dirty Bird. If you need a legit reason to come here, my boy came here once and then lost his virginity the same night. Drinks are cheap and dirty, music is great, and they've got darts and pool. What more do you need to know? Perfect bar.

The kind bartender let our friend charge his dead cell phone so he wouldn't miss the date who was waiting to schedule an encounter.

Super fun local bar. Nothing pretentious or overly fancy, which I love. Great service, great drinks and reasonably priced.

Great drink prices. It's a great place when they have a live band because there is a large dance floor. Enjoyed our time there.

Is there a cover charge?

I went on a Friday after 11 pm and there was a five dollar cover. Cash only. There's an ATM inside but there's a three dollar fee.

When we arrived, it was a full house and we didn't have a reservation, so we sat at the bar. Even though we weren't seated in the main dining area, the experience was still fantastic. There was a projector screen showing the performers, and the music could be heard throughout the entire establishment, which made it easy to enjoy the show from anywhere in the room. When seats became available in the main area, the staff invited us to move so we could enjoy the full effect of the show, which we really appreciated. That gesture alone showed how attentive and exceptional their service is. The music was amazing, the drinks were great, and the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the stroganoff dish and the portion size was generous enough for us to split. What made it even more special was that it was finished in the back of the house before being served, which was such a unique experience I've never seen before. The pictures truly don't do it justice -- I would honestly go back to Laguna Beach just to have that dish again. The service was exceptional as well. I mentioned to the bartender that it was my partner's birthday, and he kindly offered him a drink on the house. I really wish I remembered his name because he was nothing short of amazing. If you're looking for great jazz music, strong drinks, delicious food, and an overall classy vibe, The Drake is definitely the place to go. It's a beautifully run establishment, very professional, and truly a memorable experience.

The mushrooms were $22 and were some criminis with butter. They didn't even salt them. The $24 Caesar had stale croutons and no flavor. The $40 chicken got served with one plain scoop of white rice. Really?? You can't even add a vegetable or be bothered to season some rice. Service was incredibly slow and the music was so loud. $160 for one salad, one entree, a side and two drinks. I know it's Laguna but there's a ton of other places to get a better bang for your buck. I really lost it when their menu claims you need to pay $10 a person for the band...what?????

This place is always a fun experience for the kids…read more I'm not really a frequent customer here. I've been maybe three times in a year. I don't expect much fanfare. It's basic Hawaiian food and drinks. Got the Loco Moco with the Mac Salad. The hamburger patty was a bit too salty. The patty itself was tender though. Mac Salad was good. Had a lot of egg yolk mixed in. Pineapple fried rice was good. Kids killed their portions pretty quick. Biggest hit was the fish and chips. The fish was super fresh and tender. The batter was really crispy. Definitely will get this again. I would say the cocktails were a bit too light. Need a little more booze to really enjoy it. We sat in the booth. It was long but narrow. The table filled pretty quick with all the dishes so it was a bit of a struggle to make space and be comfortable. Don't forget to check out the fish tank and take a cute picture at the shell bench.

Food-wise, this place is great as well. We got the Pupu Platter, which was really good! The bloomin' onion was great, along with the lumpia and chicken that came on the platter. We also got the spam musubi which was pretty good, just a tad overpriced for what it is. I think appetizer-wise, just stick with the platter and you'll be happy. All the entrees were well received by our party as well. I ordered the chicken which was great, but also heard great things about the short ribs, the shrimp pasta, and the katsu sandwich. What I really enjoyed about this place was the ambiance! The place is decked out in amazing tiki bar decor and it is very immersive. Overall I recommend this place!
