Fish and chips
Ellice W.

Shared spinach dip, onion rings, fish and chips, and then $7 smash burger (certain day special). Smash burger didn't really have the skirt you expect (thicker burger), and the sauce's flavor was a little lacking but $7 is such a good deal. Fish and chips were solid. Spinach dip was also lacking a bit of flavor. Onion rings were really good, and good homemade style ranch. Ambiance is fun! Lots of games playing, busy due to the World Cup. A fun place to hangout with friends and grab a beer/food

Hennessey's ended up being the perfect post-murder mystery hangout spot. An easy place to kick back and relax with the team as they played host for the game. The mushroom swiss burger was done right. Cooked a perfect medium and generously loaded with mushrooms, paired with fries well done. Service was a bit inconsistent though. Attentive when staff was around, but refills were slow or sometimes missed altogether. There's paid parking conveniently located nearby, which makes it easy enough to get in and out.

My burger here was delicious. I was starving after going to three beaches and climbing multiple stairs. I devoured my food and ice tea in no time. Service was fast and friendly like other locations. Come on Tuesdays when burgers are BOGO.

The vibes here are so chill and cozy and I had one of the BEST burgers here!! Definitely stop by if you're craving a nice post-beach burger like we were!! Come by for their weekday specials too

Food was great (not just the normal bar food),, service by Tessa was phenomenal, and drinks went down easy!

Wow, local and beers are now $10 at Hennessey's. They're cheaper at the hotel Laguna and the deck has better views and super bummed

Took my mother-in-law here for her birthday and we all had such a great experience!…read more We got there around 4-4:15pm and had about a 20 minute wait, but we were able to find a high top table that we got to sit at and were able to order drinks from the bar, so that helped to pass our time. We got seated at our table at our table around 4:30p and had the most perfect view of the ocean! *we went on a Friday night and noticed the patio cleared out about 4:45-5pm and I didn't appear to have a lot of people waiting during that time. The main patio was covered with umbrellas, so once you are seated for dinner, there was plenty of umbrellas for shade and heaters for when it got a little cooler. For our food orders, and as recommended by our server, we went with their seafood options and ordered their Pacific Ceviche for an appetizer and for Entrees my husband got the Roasted Halibut and me and my mother-in-law both got the Scallop and Shrimp pasta. We all loved our dishes and were very satisfied with our choices. Their menu does have non-seafood options, but why not to try what they're most prominent for? They don't have a dessert menu, but they heard that we were celebrating mom's birthday so they brought us a little Toffee Cake to share and enjoy...and for a place that doesn't have dessert, the cake was pretty delicious. Such a cute place all around. My husband and I can't wait to go back! Parking - they have valet parking available right in front of the restaurant or theres street metered parking in the surrounding area.

I was really hoping for a great lunch, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing…read more The poke and mussels were actually very good, which makes it even more frustrating that the rest of the meal fell so short. I ordered the scallop and shrimp pasta, and on my very first bite of the scallop, it had a strong ammonia taste--a common sign that seafood has gone bad. After that, I completely lost my appetite and couldn't eat the rest of my meal. My daughter ordered the cioppino, and after checking the seafood in her dish, we noticed the scallop was also very rubbery and didn't seem fresh either. Fresh seafood is something restaurants should never compromise on. Based on this experience, I can't recommend eating here and would suggest trying another restaurant instead.

We came on NYE. There was music happening at 9pm, but we…read morecame early and missed it. That was our fault. We were the only ones there. The experience was all over the map. The owner served us initially, and he was really friendly and funny. We ordered a bottle of wine, and some cocktails. We put in some salads and an appetizer, they were really really good. But after that, our server (the owner we were told) left, and another server introduced himself. The new server was inattentive. He sat chatting with the other servers at the bar, leaving empty glasses and empty plates on the table. We had to flag him to come back to fill water. Having been myself in the service industry for years, my biggest pet peeve is when servers sit and chat where you can see them, and when they do come, they don't do a sweep and take care of things on the table. We had to put our empty glasses and trash on a side table. It was weird. The bolognese had hardly any meat in it. It was mostly tomato and onion. I've been to Argentina. Meat is a staple. Also weird. We ordered dessert and after waiting for 5-10 minutes, the server came back and told us they were missing crucial ingredients to make it. The owner came back at the end and was really gracious, but all in all, I think the execution was lacking. The service was not great. The food was 3.5/5 I love to support small business, perhaps we will try again another night.

First beer release from 237 Ocean. I'm a beer guy so love that they're making their own beer now…read moresince I remember coming here when it was a brewery. It's definitely been upgraded with higher end furnishings and a farm-to-table menu. The servers and staff are always friendly and welcoming and do their best at getting to you when it's busy. We love the various types of seating with some family-style seating as well as outdoor couches and chairs to watch the people go by.

Have you ever wanted to have your eyebrows blown clean off? Order a Chief Lapu Lapu…read more This location, beloved and cherished by many, reopened its doors years ago to the chagrin of many a tikifile. It has proven its worth, and then some. The food is very good. The drinks are potent and balanced, as all tiki things should be. The staff are sweethearts. They genuinely care about your experience. Find me a place in nuclear fallout distance of LA that does that. I truly hope this location succeeds and lasts another lifetime. Pricey as it may be, it returns the favor in aloha. 5 stars. Parking beware.

I had one of the most unusual and disappointing restaurant experiences I've ever had here on July…read more3. I arrived ahead of my friends for a late lunch/early dinner and walked up to the host stand to ask if there was a table available. I was immediately told the restaurant was completely booked. I texted my friends to see if they had made reservations, and thankfully they had. When we checked in together, we clearly told the staff that we had dogs with us and assumed we'd be seated on the patio. Instead, we were seated inside. We thought it was odd, but trusted there was a reason for it. What made the experience so confusing was that we spent about an hour and a half there, and the restaurant remained almost completely empty the entire time. The patio was also essentially empty. The only other party seated near us was upset that there were dogs inside and made it very obvious. To be clear, we never asked to sit indoors....we expected and preferred the patio. As we were leaving, I overheard the host ask another employee, "Do you think that dog's actually a service dog?" That caught me completely off guard because we never claimed our dogs were service animals. It felt like an unnecessary assumption. Looking back, the entire experience left me with more questions than answers. Why tell someone the restaurant is completely booked when both the dining room and patio stayed largely empty? Why seat guests with dogs inside when the patio was available? I don't make accusations lightly, but as a person of color, I couldn't help but wonder whether I was being treated differently. I can't say for certain that was the case, but it's how the experience made me feel, and it's not something I've ever felt comfortable writing in a review before. To make matters worse, the food didn't make up for the experience. It was mediocre at best, especially considering the prices. For what they charge, I expected much better quality and flavor. Instead, I left feeling like I had overpaid for an underwhelming meal. Overall, I walked away feeling confused, unwelcome, and disappointed. Between the strange seating situation, the comments from the staff, the overpriced food, and the overall experience, I don't see myself returning.
