I work locally and always make sure to stop in on thursdays for the smash burger deal with my coworkers every week. Phenomenal deal and we usually pair with a guinness or the monthly drink and its always a great lunch. Our usual server, Kayle, always treats us great and finds time to be personable even on her busier days. The only reason why this is 4 and not 5 stars is because when we try to go in on non-smash burger days, the burgers tend to be a little lack luster for the price in which they are charging. There was an immediate unwelcoming attitude and noticeable rudeness directed toward us as people of color. We were completely ignored and left unserved until we actively had to flag someone down to get any attention. When we inquired about happy hour specials, we were abruptly told no in a dismissive manner. When we raised concerns about the poor treatment, the person claiming to be the manager--a man in his late 20s--was incredibly rude and confrontational, aggressively asking if we wanted service or not rather than addressing the issue professionally. No one should be treated this way. Black people and other people of color should be aware and safe, and I strongly recommend avoiding this establishment. read more

We needed to have lunch and after we walked around Laguna, and our favorite place is not dog friendly, I suggested here. We had walked by earlier on our way to the beach. It was on the shadier side of the street which was great! There's a small outdoor patio and I asked if it was okay if Cako could come in, "of course!" I had to have the 50th anniversary cocktail...Jameson with a bunch of great mixes...LOL! They also serve a really good cabernet. I ordered the Dublin burger. So good...nice crispy bacon...came with handcut fries. We also started with the spinach and artichoke dip. This also came with warm, house -made potato and tortilla chips. Very good! It wasn't very busy but there were some singles and some couples inside. A huge family came in but the guy working by himself had everything under control. Come to find out he was a floating general manager, which was cool. Maybe we'll run into him down in San Diego. They have some great food and drink nights and a good happy hour. Smash burger didn't really have the skirt you expect (thicker burger), and the sauce's flavor was a little lacking but $7 is such a good deal. Fish and chips were solid. Hennessey's ended up being the perfect post-murder mystery hangout spot. An easy place to kick back and relax with the team as they played host for the game. The mushroom swiss burger was done right. Cooked a perfect medium and generously loaded with mushrooms, paired with fries well done. Service was a bit inconsistent though. I am a local customer who dines here often with my service dog. However, sad to say we won't be back. Your door guy was beyond disrespectful to my service dog and I & he is completely ignorant to the law. Please familiarize him with ADA & California Civil Code 54.1 & 54.2. Example: "Under California and federal law, service dogs are permitted in all areas of restaurants & businesses where the public is normally allowed, including indoor dining rooms." This is one of my go-to spots for happy hour. The Smash Burger deal on Thursdays is something I look forward to every other week. They have a special drink of the month which is sometimes good. Food-wise, I also go for the nachos or some appetizers. Drink selection is solid, I typically go for the Pacifico despite it being an Irish themed pub. Service is always fantastic, I've had a few regular servers at this location and they're always friendly and helpful. Only complaint would be that it can get chilly when they have the door open to the patio, but there's not much they can do about that during busy hours. read more

The bouncers were completely rude, disrespectful, and out of line. They told us we couldn't bring in our leftovers, which was totally fine. We asked if we could leave it outside and they repeatedly said "we aren't babysitting it." I said that's no problem. I'll just leave it and if it's here great if not whatever. They just kept repeating they wouldn't watch it and being rude for no reason while we were being receptive. One bouncer proceeded to threaten me saying "I'll throw you and your food right out if you catch an attitude with me." He proceeded to yell at me as I walked into the bar and loudly talked bad about me and the situation once I was inside. They also said we couldn't bring the food in because they were serving food. We said we wouldn't eat it and they said nope not allowed. Again, we said okay no big deal. The kitchen was actually closed so that didn't make sense. This is unacceptable and my first impression of the bar. Been to several bars in my time and probably experienced the worst customer service here at this bar on a Sunday night. My girl friend wanted a double Tito's in a short glass and I did not order it correctly (I take full accountability for that). Not only was the bartender rude about it, but also did not exchange it for the correct drink. I also have worked in the service industry and from my experience would have been switched out with no issues. Not sure if this is just the dynamic in Laguna but probably would not come back here again. Music was great but left a really bad taste in my mouth. Be sure you order your drink exactly how you want it, because you'll get horrible customer service if you don't. I can only imagine if they were busy. read more
