Decent New American/Breakfast/Brunch spot in Laguna Beach. I came here for a friend's birthday with a big group on a Sunday and the experience was alright. Going down the list of dishes I tried here: -Miso Garlic Noodles: Solid and good flavor. Nothing special and overpriced for what they were. -Avocado Wontons: These were interesting. It was like a vegan poke only that it's watermelon. Not bad, but the 'wontons' weren't actual wontons. -Ahi Poke Stack: Solid poke and I enjoyed the creamy avocado. Also a bit overpriced considering the portion size. -Matcha Martini: Pretty disappointing. Couldn't really taste any matcha. Only tasted like a sweet and creamy cocktail. -Chilaquiles: Overall enjoyable. I liked the crispy chips. However, the servers forgot my eggs which was annoying, but they brought it out later with an additional egg. -Crispy Fried Calamari: Tasty and I liked the sauce. Calamari wasn't the greatest quality itself though. Service was pretty slow and the servers seemed to forget many details when taking orders which caused service delays wasn't optimal. The interior was decent and not dirty. For parking, there's a good amount located at and around the Pavilions parking lot. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back here again. Laguna Beach: Ample parking and outdoor seating is always a plus in any beach city. We made reservations and glad we did. It was a weekend and the place filled quickly. Loud crowd! Ordered: Salmon Citrus salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and my friend was very happy with the amount of salmon to salad ratio. Attractive dish! Sliced Steak & Potato Salad was a nice portion of sliced steak, a decent warm potato salad, and a great side salad. I can't remember if that was one of her side options, but it was a solid choice. Steak was ordered medium rare and it was definitely all rare - but edible. Sometimes it's not a good option to send it back. Fear of over cook. Blackened Halibut Sandwich was my choice and the fresh tasting halibut was cooked to perfection. I would go lighter on the blackened seasoning next time and skip the non-crispy onions straws. Love those but most definitely they were prepped long before we got there. Minor culinary issue as the halibut sandwich was a delicious combo of fresh ingredients that I had to deconstruct so I could manage to eat it. I think only a mega shark could take a bite of this sandwich as it was meant to be built! So it nicely transformed into a Blackened Halibut Salad plate with a highly recommended crispy Caesar salad for the side. I enjoyed every bite. I would go here again. Service was courteous and prompt, and our food was served on the spot. We were too full to try their recommended warm butter cake. Next time it's Brussel sprouts and desert! Reunion is located in Boat Canyon shopping center in Laguna Beach. There is ample parking and reservations are recommended during the summer. My friend and I decided to split the Sourdough cheeseburger that came with several side choices. We chose the shoestring fries and we ordered an additional side of crispy slaw. The cheeseburger was ok, nothing special. Seemed a bit greasy to me. The shoestring fries were good and the crispy slaw had way too much Thai peanut dressing. Came to Reunion after an eventful wedding weekend on a Sunday morning! Ordered the Hawaiian bread French toast, Chicken & Biscuits, Breakfast Sandwich with sausage, Hangover breakfast burrito, and the chilaquiles w/ over medium eggs. Started off with the French toast, which was phenomenal, a little too crunchy and stiff at the bottom but delicious otherwise. The chicken and biscuits was delicious and savory! The breakfast burrito was huge and full of flavor! The chilaquiles were a little dry but had delicious taste. The breakfast sandwich was good but the sausage patty had a very weird consistency, so we took it off and ate just an egg and cheese sandwich. All in all 4/5. The service was great and fast, our server was very attentive and always fast with refills. The restaurant was a bit on the slower side but it's expected on a Coachella weekend, the city was a bit less packed than normal. This place definitely disappointed me. I have had this restaurant on my list for awhile and I will not go back. The experience was not horrible. Mainly the food and price was disappointing . The food was very average and the price point was quite high. Service was great. We received the food very fast. And the server gave us good options. The place is pretty small but we were lucky to not have a wait. I am not sure if there usually is one but the place was busy but not absolutely full. As for the food, my favorite plate was the jalapeño poppers. They were grilled nicely and the bacon was crispy. As for my plate, I tried the shortrib based off of the servers recommendation. Though it was pricier, I felt that I would rather pay for something amazing than something basic. The food was good but it was nothing better than what you can get an any other restaurant. The mashed potatoes were fine, but they did not stand out. They were not buttery or garlicky. They were just plain, also the onion straws did nothing for the plate. As for the horseradish sauce, it was only drizzled on, I requested an additional side after receiving the dish in hopes that it would add a pop of flavor. I was incorrect. It was more of a horseradish sauce diluted in sour cream. The Asian crispy ribs were good. Definitely crispy. But again nothing out of this world. I can best compare the food and vibe to a Yard House. Though I think you would have more options and better flavored dishes at Yard House. The price here was not justified. The food here wasn't amazing. The portions weren't extra large (just normal). So I think it's a bit over priced. I say skip this restaurant. Find a Yard House or a Lazy dog. Honestly, I would have been happier going to the Ruby's Diner nearby. Again, service and all of the employees were nice. Just the food did not hit the spot. read more

Always an incredible experience at Reunion but especially love their Laguna location. Bf got the wedge salad and cup of French onion soup which he really enjoyed and I got the amazingggg juicy patty melt on a brioche bun (so a burger? Haha) with the outstanding and absolutely sinful warm potato salad. That thing is addicting!!! We also shared the loaded deviled eggs to start and agreed it was delicious. The portions are so generous and fit the price and the quality of the food is unmatched. We also loved the attentive service and gorgeous Saturday evening ambiance for a cozy dinner. I am not one to write many reviews but I thought this place merited one. Their food was so delicious. I got the fried chicken sandwich (don't recall the menu name) but it was very well portioned. I felt I got 2 sandwiches for the price of one! This is by far thee best chicken sandwich I've had. I've been to the Anaheim Hills location and recently learned that this Laguna location existed! Family and I came here for an early dinner. It's a really small location, but still enough room for groups and plenty of parking! We made a reservation and were seated right away. There's a great variety of cocktails and the menu has a large selection, too. To start, we got the brussel sprouts and asparagus. They were delicious and I highly recommend! The asparagus was fried to perfection and not at all mushy inside. For my entree, I got the short rib stroganoff and it was delicious. The portion is huge - enough for me to save for lunch the next day. Don't skip on the dessert. I tried the buttercake and Bob's hot fudge cake. Normally buttercake is my favorite, but the fudge cake was the winner. It looks like it would be a chocolate overload, but the vanilla ice cream balances it out perfectly! When Hillstone restaurants revamped their menu to exclude some of their best dishes I knew it was time to look for a replacement restaurant. I'm still searching. Reunion Kitchen + Drink is good. It was nice to dine in a place new to me and my girlfriends. Would I make the trip to dine here again? Probably not. Service was fine, though it became a bit slow as the restaurant got busy. The wine list isn't extensive but it does offer a good variety. The menu has a good amount of options. With the exception of the Slow Braised Short Ribs. Baked Brie and the Asparagus Spears, nothing else thrilled me. Neither the Beer Battered Fish and Chips or Rosemary's Chicken and Biscuit blew my hair back. The biscuit was so dry it crumbled and the chips were typical shoestring type; I can't help but think how much better the entrées would have been with a hot and buttery soft biscuit and thick cut substantial fries. We loved the baked brie and asparagus and in hindsight perhaps opting for more of the small plates would have been the better option. The short ribs were dreamy delicious and belly satisfying. Butter cake and hot fudge cake were yummy but we were so full we only had a few bites...or did we eat all of both? I had a delicious after dinner coffee beverage...it was yummy, could have been served piping hot but by the time it got to me was only lukewarm. Plenty of parking, DO make reservations and though the ocean is very close by note there is no ocean view. read more

My friend wanted a girl's night so she picked this place with the stances that I would love it. Well she was correct I love this place and I can not wait to go back. The location was in a strip mall-type place, which was a turn-off when you think of girls' night but doesn't let that stop you. Found parking quickly and was told it would wait an hour or so. We weren't in a hurry so waiting was no issue. Alright once again let's get into the reason you are here. I am so shocked that people actually read my reviews and find them helpful. She made a big deal about getting these Asian Crispy Ribs, which came with baby back ribs, sweet and spicy chili sauce, and Thai peanut slaw. These things were so delicious, I don't even think I came up for air. In addition, they all complimented each other very well. I could only have eaten this and given it a five-star review, and I am not a fan of coleslaw, but this was so well done and presented that I am shocked I never had it before. I highly recommend getting these when you visit. As I cannot make them myself, I have developed an unhealthy love for Brussels sprouts that come with cider vinegar, bacon, maple syrup, and shallots. I enjoyed the dish, but none of the extras added anything to it. The vinegar was canceled out by maple syrup, which delivered no taste and made it sticky, and the bacon was unnecessary. It would have been better if they had replaced it with a crispy Brussels sprout and it would have been just as good. I forgot it had bacon until my friend mentioned it. Maybe cooking it in bacon grease would have made a difference, but the vinegar followed by the maple syrup left an odd bland taste and sticky texture. I still enjoyed them the next day after I gave them time in my air fryer. Day one so-so day two unstoppable. I got my stable meal of steak, asparagus, and bleu cheese mashed potatoes; the steak was delicious and the asparagus was good BUT those bleu cheese mashed potatoes were OUT OF THE WORLD. I never had anything like it. Do not get me wrong I've added cheese to my potatoes but never thought of chunks of blue cheese. When you took a bite, you could taste the creaminess combined with the steak in this tasty plated dish. I am having flashbacks while writing and I could taste how that first bite made me feel. The drinks were so so I truthfully I could have done without mine but it added a nice touch to the meal. If you are in the area or even if you are not go check this place out. We recently renewed our wedding vows at St. Catherine of Siena and we had invited our immediate family to be a part of the celebration. Then afterwards we wanted to treat everyone to dinner so I searched Yelp for nearby restaurants that had a nice selection of dishes and Reunion Kitchen seemed perfect. Our next challenge was finding a place that could accommodate our group. It turned out that we had 15 people which is one more than what their max is when taking reservations - but fortunately they were willing to reserve an extra table for us to accommodate everyone. Just like we had hoped, there was something on the menu for everyone! We lucked out by having Jenna as our server - she was just so sweet and was sharp. She and the others that assisted her were on their A-game. We started with Fried asparagus and Avocado wontons - and she figured out the number of orders we needed for our group. Nailed it! I just loved the asparagus - I definitely want to come back just for that! The avocado wontons weren't exactly what I was expecting - they were more like little cups made from wonton, then they had a mix of chopped avocado and watermelon, onion, cilantro with a light vinaigrette - very refreshing! Everyone really enjoyed their meals! Jenna had mentioned that their short rib dishes and rosemary's chicken we're fan favorites - she nailed it again! I got the short rib entree which was AMAZING! My only comment is that the mashed potatoes that came with the entree was a bit on the dry side - could have used gravy (I just tried to use the juices from the short ribs as a kind of gravy). But the roasted veggies that came with the entree were DELICIOUS! My son had the Rosemary's chicken and he said it was delicious! And he actually had leftovers to bring home for later. It was a very generous portion! I'm still hearing back from our family at to how much they enjoyed their meals! That just made us so happy!! Oh, and most importantly, Reunion Kitchen has ample parking in the lot that they share with Pavilions. That was another concern we had since parking can sometimes be tough and scarce in Laguna. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. I had a bloody Mary with a delicious jalapeño popper on it so good and I had an omelette which was the size of my head. It was huge. I didn't care for how they did their hashbrowns, but it was still good. The omelette was good. Definitely wanna come back for dinner. We had some short ribs that sounded amazing. I sat at the bar. Reunion is a hard-one for me. I've had hits, and I have had misses. An example of a hit, I visited their Anaheim location after a local football game at Champan. The restaurant was quieting down after their Friday night rush. Food was great, quick, server was awesome while also reading that we just needed to "detox" after the game. A miss, I took my partner to the laguna location last Valentines. That night felt mismanaged. Our food took awhile, which was odd when we visited around the end of the dinner rush. That's not to say the pot pie was bad, far from it. The food was great, the service just missed a mark. Things like refills on my water got missed. And worst of all, the dessert that is a name-sake to Reunion, was out of stock. I will say the Chef did offer the other dessert free of charge, but the primary reason we chose Reunion was the butter cake. We opted to just go down to Southswell for an ice-cream. I'll still continue to visit Reunion and its sister Asada, mostly because my partner likes it. Can I justify it compared to other establishments in the category, not always. But it definitely will receive a visit or two from me annually. read more
