The manager, Sal, and our server, Mariah, went above and beyond to make sure we had an incredible dining experience. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcomed, and it's rare to find a team that cares so much about their guests, Sal really took initiative to make it a rememberable dinning experience, I never interacted with a more professional and well manned manager ever in my life. They even were able seated us at a beautiful table overlooking the ocean, where we got to enjoy an unforgettable sunset during dinner. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the Caesar salad with steak, and it was hands down one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had. The dressing was rich and flavorful, and the steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. We also started with the focaccia appetizer, which was outstanding. The bread was warm, soft, and fresh, and the honey butter spread completely exceeded my expectations. I could have eaten it by itself all night! For my drink, I had the chef's special cocktail made with limoncello vodka and (I believe) lemon boba. It was not only beautiful to look at but also one of the most unique and delicious cocktails I've ever had. Between the incredible food, the breathtaking ocean view, and the outstanding service, this was a dining experience I'll remember for a long time. Some places sell mediocre food just because there's a view and they think they can get away with it. Everything ties together here. Janelle was our server last night and she was sweet, attentive, and very polite. We were lucky to sit outside, closer to the street, and had a great view of the ocean. Food was great: Duck wings: 10/10, sticky sauce that's so addicting Bone in ribeye: 9/10, not a huge fan of blue cheese but the steak was great! Cioppino: 10/10, the rosemary focaccia paired really well and was perfect to soak up the soup! Overall, we'd definitely come back again. This restaurant is definitely a place in which I'd return to! Although this place had an error upon our initial visit, that error occurred due to how busy it was. Sal, the man in charge at the time-- apologized to my party and was more than willing to make sure we don't leave his restaurant hungry. He was willing to create a second chance for us to change our opinion of their restaurant. And our opinions changed in a snap! He lead us to be seated in sight for the beautiful laguna beach. Their hospitality & attentiveness the second time was more than enough to compensate our initial experience. The food that was served to us was worth the wait for every bite! The location is just a block from the beach with a view. The patio is spacious with lots of people bringing their dogs. The menu is diverse and I wanted vegan, so I got a delicious quinoa veggie bowl with portobello mushrooms and lots of fresh veggies. The server was friendly and kept the water full. We never had an empty glass of water during our meal! That's impressive, haha. We both got the OCRW meal. We got 1 of each appetizer- gem salad & tomato bisque. It took a little bit for the food to come out when it wasn't that crowded but we enjoyed the view. Both were good. Then we waited a bit for our food but we got the lamb shanks which was huge!! The server said it was about 12oz! My friend said it was good! I got the seabass with veggies which I really enjoyed! Light fish and loved the veggies! The patio area is very spacious so there is plenty of room for people to enjoy the ocean breeze. I dined here on a Friday evening and it was pretty busy. Despite how lively it was, our server was extremely attentive to all of our needs. The manager, Sal, was extremely friendly and I noticed him engaging with tables throughout the night. The food was all so delicious. For appetizers we ordered the White Mexican Shrimp & Chilean Sea Bass Ceviche, the Rosemary Focaccia Bread, and a cup of their Seafood Chowder. The Ceviche was fresh and packed with flavor. The Focaccia was so fluffy and was served with a delicious whipped honey butter. For my entree I ordered the Short Rib Pappardelle. The chunk of short rib was massive and the creme fraise really tied all the elements of the dish together. My friends ordered the Wild Caught Chilean Sea Bass and American Wagyu Beef Burger. Despite the rainy Christmas Eve weather we had a great time. Unfortunately our first impression was not good as we were seated at a 2 table and when I asked the hostess to move us, she said no. I wasn't going to sit in a small table so I asked our server if we could get relocated, and they did. Throughout the night we kept our eyes on other couples who were not seated in the tiny table which irked me. Fabio was our server and he was great. Kudos to him for being the saving grace for the bad start. The food was delicious and we both had the soup of the : clam chowder. I'll gladly say that my cioppino was worth the effort and price. It starts with location- this smaller restaurant is located right on PCH in Laguna. It has both indoor or outdoor patio seating. Outdoor you have a view of the ocean. The menu is varied and when we were there, they had some daily chef specials. The service is top notch. Staff friendly and personable. Professional and skilled in being attentive, knowledgeable but not pushy. We opted for several of the chef specials including a French onion soup with apples, bacon and blue cheese. Potato and short rib croquettes. And an entree of chorizo and lobster pasta. The food was amazing! The spice level perfect to be noticed but not overwhelming. This restaurant is nestled in a small shopping complex, and while it may look homey, don't be fooled - the food is superb. It was a bit hard to get our server's attention sometimes, but once obtained, service was great. We ordered Farmer's Market Vegetables & Herb Cavatelli Pasta which came without mushrooms lol (they literally did not add the most expensive item on the ingredient list, they are probably saving money during these bad economic times). When we pointed that out to the waitress, she just said "I'll tell the chef". No "can I get you something else" lol none of that. She did not even bother to offer take it off the bill. The dish itself was terrible and sweet , just yuck. Oh and their pesto did not have any pine nuts, just some green goo. Disgusting. We also ordered Organic Sweet Gem Lettuce Salad with the dressing on the side. Guess what , it came with the dressing directly on the salad and no hazelnuts (they must have some shortage of hazelnuts or smth). Anyway , STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Oh man. Where to even begin. I'd say let's just start from the service, then the food, then we can talk ambience. Arriving is difficult and the only way in is from the street (so walking) good luck finding any signage or smidge of help to lead you into the restaurant to even start your journey, and this wwaaasss a journey. Found our way inside and ordered drinks for our table of TEN which is conveniently the biggest table in the whole establishment (remember this for later) once we sat half the table had drink orders taken and the other half waited about 10-15 minutes after sitting to get just their drinks ordered. Half of the party figured water was fine based on the wait of a not busy restaurant..Finally had our drink orders taken by the bartender and things started looking up, everyone makes mistakes, or so we thought. Then the fun part, the food. We're patient people but when you wait for 32 minutes (and see other tables sat after you order their drinks, get them and then order their food) before you finally have to get up to ask another server to serve you because not only have we not been checked in on, but our drinks needed to be refilled before ever ordering. A server graciously takes everyone's orders, and given the timeline we had to wait for ANYTHING up to this point 80% of our party decided to leave and go watch the sunset while the waiting staff avoided us like the plague and started making the food. *STILL* not checked in on again by the new server or the one we supposedly had previously. But boy did yall NOTICE when the whole table got up and went on a WALK to the beach yes our whole giant table had time to enjoy the sunset, while the food was being made. Food comes out and it's JUST alright/mid at best, definitely not worth the price or to jump up and down over. And lastly ambience, the giant table is conveniently located in the middle of the room between the recently divorced bar Karens who haven't been cut off yet and every other party who has to be (or was treated) like regulars because we watched the staff wait on every other party as you'd expect ANY restaurant let alone one of this "caliber" and I use that word lightly. Best part was we watched the manager/owner who LOOKED the part but couldn't be farther from acting it. Go up to EVERY table and shake hands or greet the tables, except the giant table in the middle of your restaurant. Then he has the AUDACITY after we paid and STILL tipped well to ask us to MAYBE CONSIDER coming back or if we needed parking validation because NNOOWW our money is as good as everyone else's apparently. So my advice to you if you made it to this point is: 1. Don't look like you came from the beach (in a beach town) whether thats your clothes, hair, etc 2. Don't have tattoos or anything that they'll judge you for, like your skin or hair color 3. Don't bother coming to this restaurant period and spend your money ANYWHERE else, there's a Jack in the Box across the street that probably has better services and food. In a world where every restaurant sells the same steak,burgers, or fish items it solely comes down to your SERVICE and how you treat people and Sapphire failed miserably tonight. We will not be going back, and anyone who asks about this restaurant or our experience in a town we do a lot of business in will know our opinions. We came here for dinner and honestly, this place blew me away. I ordered the braised short ribs, and it was by far one of the best I've ever had. The meat was actually so unbelievably tender. It was braised in red wine which gave it a deep, rich flavor of sweetness, earthy, and full-bodied with a beautiful depth that paired perfectly with the homemade noodles. (they were green noodles). The fresh veggies like carrots, green peas, and zucchini tasted straight out of a farmer's market; everything felt clean, seasonal, and js super fresh. Next up was the 45-day dry-aged ribeye steak, cooked medium as recommended; and I'm so glad I listened. The collagen and fat melted down beautifully, creating that signature buttery texture and deep, nutty, almost blue-cheese-like flavor that only comes from true dry-aging. It had that concentrated umami with a subtle funk that balanced perfectly with the steak sauce. I've had dry aged before and this was super good and tender. we had leftovers and my friends tried it as well which they also gave it a 10 out of 10. The truffle mac & cheese was decent ; it leaned more on the creamy side rather than cheesy, and I didn't pick up much truffle flavor. It wasn't bad, just not as memorable compared to everything else. But the shrimp ceviche completely made up for it. Absolutely incredible. Fresh shrimp, cherry tomatoes, and guac; all came together perfectly. You can see in the pics that it was vibrant, tangy, and refreshing, serving as the best palate cleanser in between foods. Service was top-notch. We had 5 PM reservations and got seated immediately at what I'd say was the best table at sapphire. Great for people-watching and our server was fantastic, super attentive with water refills and thoughtful check-ins, even offering recommendations that turned out to be spot on. To finish the night, we had the crème brûlée with fresh berries. you can tell that it was perfectly torched, creamy, and light, with the tart berries balancing each spoonful beautifully. Overall: amazing service, cozy ambience, and food that actually feels crafted with care. Definitely one of Laguna's gems; I'll be coming back for that ribeye, ceviche, and braised short rib again. read more

Celebrated my friend's birthday here with a party of 12. We made a reservation in advance so getting set up and seated was seamless. It was a beautiful day in Laguna Beach which made for a perfect day for dining out on the patio. It was Sunday brunch but I opted to steer towards the "unch" side and got their BLT w/ fries. It was a massive portion and I managed to only tuck into half of it. It was very good w/ generous slices of bacon. Our server was super nice and accommodating to guests in our group that arrived later and made sure everyone had drinks, food order taken, etc. Our table also got complimentary elderberry tequila (I think?) shots which was so nice of them.
