    Crab and shrimp enchiladas

Came here on a Saturday around 11am no wait to be seated. Restrooms available outdoor and indoor seating. Staff friendly. Ordered the crab and shrimp enciladas. Not spicy enough filling. The chips and salsa were good. All in all good for a one time try.

Solid pick for some Mexican food in Laguna Beach area. The inside is well lit with these fun star-shaped lights. The service is friendly and pretty attentive. We came here for a quick bite and drink. We got the Chef's combo platter and a margarita. A good amount of food for 2-3 people with a little bit of everything. The margaritas here are also very good too. Great place and would come back!

Free chips & salsa--Food always smacks each time we come here quality in the food is always the same. There's no changes we always come to this location to enjoy the nice beach and some great food and chips and salsa. I would recommend coming in this place. The ambience the service are really nice. The food's are great too.

What a great Mexican Restaurant. I would have to say it is some of the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. The margaritas were tasty, both types of enchiladas I tried were phenomenal and the flan was a perfect ending to the meal. The waitress was charming and described the entrees in a way that made it very easy to choose what we wanted to eat. You can't go wrong by having dinner or lunch here.

This place has such a welcoming atmosphere starting from the front door. I felt like my server knew me, even though we had never met before. That is a sign of elite service. My order was taken promptly and my food arrived quickly. It was so fresh and tasted amazing. The portions are very nice. I ended up having to take some home. I went by myself, but would highly recommend Carmelita's for groups as well. Next time I need to try a margarita. The fresh chips at the table are extraordinary. It was everything I wanted after spending some time at the beach.

Excellent service. Comfortable leather boot seats that are goldish, Make you feel like a king or queen! We had the shrimp taquitos, very tasty And had a kick to them. It was a little bit pricey given the portion size, and the menu overall seemed pricier than I imagined, but that might just be the beach pricing. Upscale ambiance with Mexican music.

It's been a while since the Pandemic.... We are back to eat their yummy black beans and chips, tacos, and more today. We missed the tacos and my fajita on cast iron. Today my husband chose lunch special, short rib shredded beef crispy taco plate w Spanish rice and beans for $24. I got short rib enchilada plate for $26. House classic margarita is $17. Beer IPA is $9. I got the bottle tea. We were so happy to be back here on Monday. Little slow around 11:30, might be Monday is slower. The service was so welcoming. Nothing was changed, only lunch special menu was added from 11 to 1 Mon to Fri. Same quality, the price was affordable. We love the black beans and chips. Heavenly!!!! My husband's crispy taco was so good, my enchilada was delicious. The Short rib is so tender, flavorful. Love love all!! We will be coming soon to eat more tacos, black beans.....haha... We had a great brunch time before we went to Dana Point, Ritz Carlton by Trolley. So much fun inside trolley to look all the boutiques, restaurants, and ocean. So much fun, yummy, great service!!!

We were an early bird to the place so glad we got seated Indoor since it was hot during the summer. We were greeted nicely and served immediately hot tortilla chips and salsa/beans. They were really delicious and definitely caught our attention to the menu. Decor of the place is vibrant with the view of Laguna beach. We ordered nachos with carnita, wet burrito with carnita and Al pastor and fish tacos. All food were amazing. Wish we were alerted that there was a service charge for the extra tortillas when asking for more tortillas. Glad there was an online option to pay for the meals. Definitely up to date on technology.

Came here for Valentines dinner. We had a reservation for 8:15, we arrived early around 7:40 because we were sure it would be crazy for the holiday. We sat at the bar while we waited for our seats and had some margaritas and chips and guacamole. They were both really delicious and we enjoyed the ambience. There was other guests there experience same issue with not being seating at their set reservation time because they like most restaurants over book on this holiday. We didn't end up getting a table outside until about 8:30. All of this wasn't too much of an issue, but when we finally ordered I got the steak fajitas and was excited to see them come out sizzling hot, however when they arrived they were not steaming in the slightest. Everything still tasted great and I'm sure it would've been a better experience had it not been on a holiday, but they still dropped the ball on service and presentation.

Came in for dinner and it was very busy! Reccomend going a bit early to account for finding parking. Price per person ranges from 20-30$ a person and they give generous portions! They also give a side of tortilla chips and the salsas were very delicious, will be back again! Dim lighting at night, very romantic and quite loud if you sit inside!

During my Spring break stay in Laguna, I had the pleasure of dining at Carmelita's, a truly exceptional restaurant that left a lasting impression on us! Its beachside location, paired with its spectacular ambiance and 5-star service, set the tone for a memorable experience. Everything from the fresh guacamole , chips and salsa to the delectable birria tacos and short ribs enchiladas, were expertly crafted with unique spices and flavors that truly stood out. Every dish was full of fabulous flavors with each bite feeling incredibly fresh and delicious. The ambiance is Spectacular. Oh I said that already huh? It deserves mentioning twice. Whether you choose to dine inside or take in the beautiful views from the outdoor seating area, Carmelita's is a must-visit destination that I highly recommend! I would eat here again and again!

Amazing service and great food! Although it is a bit pricey it is worth it. We went on a Friday night and were seated quickly. The outside seating is nice but keep in mind it's right next to the street, so it'll be very loud. They started us off with complementary chips and dips (I loved the beans). Our server was very chill and checked on us many times. As for the food it was actually filling and flavorful, so no complaints there. Lastly, we came in for a birthday dinner, so they gave us churros on the house!

The flavor profile here is definitely a bit smokier/charred compared to the Taco Stand spots down south, especially compared to La Jolla. There are slight variations in how some of the food is cooked and prepared, but it's not bad at all -- just different. If you come in expecting an exact replica, you may notice the differences. If you treat this location as its own thing, it's honestly really solid. Huge shoutout to Carlos at the register for the excellent customer service. We ordered food both for here and to-go, and everything was packed separately exactly how we asked. We also made a few modifications after placing the order, and Carlos went out of his way to track down our ticket and write the changes on it himself to make sure everything came out correctly. Food was still great, service was amazing, and we'd definitely come back again.

At the La Jolla location you can see the staff making the tortillas + churros and this location the tortillas were packaged. I'm not sure if they use the same ingredients but this could have changed the flavor profile. They were still yummy don't get me wrong but they just weren't as good as I remember them. I ordered chips and guac as well and the staff forgot to include it in my order so I had to go up to the counter another time which was quite a hassle given it's a very busy restaurant with the line out the door the entire time I was there. The salsa selection is rather nice especially when most restaurants are trying to cut down on salsa options + use the lower quality ingredients. You can tell the ingredients in the salsas were high + they even have a few creamy options which is hard to see at most Mexican restaurants these days. I do think the guac was a little limey but it wasn't bad when you added it to the tacos. If you go I would recommend you go with zero expectations of eating inside as there are about 5-6 tables + waiting a long time for your food. The beach is 10 steps away so you can always take your food to the beach too!

Would 100% come back. That said, I'd admit, a certain DTLA Michelin restaurant has set my expectations of south of border seafood cuisine a bit too high (starts with H) so I'll try to be reasonable. Also the items picked were surprisingly huge and i was too full to finish my meal. 9/10 The chips tasted delicious, bean dip was something new and delicious, salsa was fresh and bold, and the roasted pepper salsa was surprisingly not too spicy, really good. 8/10 trio de cheviche. Good assortment and size of the dish. Shrimp was ok, I felt it was missing something, octopus was good, my personal favorite was the marinaded tuna. 8/10 seafood chile relleno, not a bad assortment, sides were good, large portions of food. 10/10 Coco rita, this margarita is definitely something different! And pairs with everything amazingly, I love it, and this is coming from someone who normally hates coconut. 9/10 they brought out this chocolate cake I dont see on the menu but they will if it's your birthday, but in my case to celebrate my new engagement. Super moist. The place is really loud ambient wise when busy which was around 8pm which is normal of any popular place but after near closing around 9:30 is pretty quiet and casual on a Sunday. Total bill after a 21% tip ran me total $165 and I had leftovers. Free chips, 1 large giant appetizer, and 1 large entree could potentially feed 3 people if you don't eat a lot. If you don't wanna have leftovers, go easy on the chips but that's gonna be hard.

Took my mother-in-law here for her birthday and we all had such a great experience!…read more We got there around 4-4:15pm and had about a 20 minute wait, but we were able to find a high top table that we got to sit at and were able to order drinks from the bar, so that helped to pass our time. We got seated at our table at our table around 4:30p and had the most perfect view of the ocean! *we went on a Friday night and noticed the patio cleared out about 4:45-5pm and I didn't appear to have a lot of people waiting during that time. The main patio was covered with umbrellas, so once you are seated for dinner, there was plenty of umbrellas for shade and heaters for when it got a little cooler. For our food orders, and as recommended by our server, we went with their seafood options and ordered their Pacific Ceviche for an appetizer and for Entrees my husband got the Roasted Halibut and me and my mother-in-law both got the Scallop and Shrimp pasta. We all loved our dishes and were very satisfied with our choices. Their menu does have non-seafood options, but why not to try what they're most prominent for? They don't have a dessert menu, but they heard that we were celebrating mom's birthday so they brought us a little Toffee Cake to share and enjoy...and for a place that doesn't have dessert, the cake was pretty delicious. Such a cute place all around. My husband and I can't wait to go back! Upon arrival, you'll find that the valet completely disregards the flow of the street. They use the southbound lane as a parking lot, effectively turning a small two-way road into a one-way alley. The valet guys were also rude to people trying to drive through for no apparent reason. When sitting outside on the deck, there are 12 heaters available, but the hostess wouldn't turn them on. (I've eaten at many waterfront restaurants, and they all turn the heaters on--especially when the temperature drops from 80°F and sunny to 68°F after the sun goes down.) The website states no seating after 8 p.m., yet they were still seating people well after 8:15. The menu was also not what I was expecting. While waiting for dinner, the aroma of marijuana drifted across the dining area. (I know they can't control what happens outside their establishment.) the deck is roped off because apparently it's unsafe and could fall off at any moment in addition to the rotting floor. The food: The menu is underwhelming. I ordered the chicken with sun-dried tomato risotto and vegetables. The risotto was undercooked and flavorless, and the chicken was also lacking flavor. I sampled the New York steak with mashed potatoes--the steak was cooked well, but the potatoes were cold. We didn't even bother ordering dessert and went elsewhere instead.
