This is our very first time visiting early evening. We normally come to Aliso and lost peer Café in the morning. And definitely not on the weekends. We were lucky to find parking around 6 PM. And due to the storm, turning out the Pacific the beach was wiped away. There was tons of erosion. However, the café is still open and there's still other beachgoers in the upper area of the beach We opted to start with some chips and salsa and some soft drinks, which were great. A great zesty lightly spicy salsa made fresh and crisp seasoned tortilla chips. For dinner I ordered the chicken bacon ranch sandwich which also came with tortilla chips and my hubs ordered the fish and chips. We also got a piña colada on the rocks. When I tell you that was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had a really long time. I am not kidding. I omitted the ranch dressing but everything else on it was incredibly delicious. It was an ample portion and how could you beat eating a chicken sandwich with an ocean view. They have a great assortment of cocktails, including Matt Thai and piña colada and assorted beer. You can only drink alcohol on the patio. Overall, the service was phenomenal. The food was freshly prepared. I think it's a great value again especially being oceanfront. You need to pay for parking up until I want to say 7 PM. You can use the QR code, the machine or the app. read more

I wanted to go on a sunny day but gave this place a try on a cloudy one. Lobster roll was fresh but was a tad too greasy. The tuna bowl had barely a scoop of tuna and was covered with rice and greens. Fish and chips were tasty but not memorable. Overall, the food isn't bad but nothing super special for the price. What made up for this was how friendly all the workers are. The drinks were great and the spot itself was clean with a great view of the ocean. You can easily walk on the beach or walk to the cafe if you're hanging out at the beach. Lots of seating but can imagine on a busier day, seating would be difficult to find a table. Private parking lot and you pay at the machine. I still gave this place 5 stars because the overall environment was great and will still come back! read more

Love that this place is literally on the beach, cause let's be honest having fish and chips beach side goes hand and hand! Fish- nicely Holden, breaded to perfection, the fish isn't dry & the breading is nice and crisp. I will say I've had it in the past where it was too oily, but it seems improved. First of all, you can't beat the location. It's on the sand! There's limited seating but it's not a huge deal because of the quick-ish turnaround. I'm sure many people take their food to-go and eat on the sand too. Parking was fairly easy as well because it's right next to a lot that you pay for by the hour. We were a little bummed that they have a strict cutoff for breakfast because we were really craving breakfast food. To be fair, it's rare for places to serve breakfast until the afternoon. We ended up ordering a burrito, fries, and a soft drink for lunch. It's pretty expensive for a quick beach spot, but the portions were a good size and shareable. Our burrito came with chips but in general, you have to order sides (like fries) separately. You do get a big portion and they offer free drink refills too. I think those 3 items came out to almost $40.00 not including the parking so just take that into consideration. Also, don't rely on the Yelp photos because their menu changes. This small gem posted right on the boardwalk had an amazing menu of food; from cheeseburgers, to fries, to sandwiches. I tried their ceviche and it did not disappoint. The serving size was a little small, but more than enough to satisfy an appetite. The chips the ceviche was served with were bursting with spicy lime flavor and the entire meal was well prepared and fresh. The service was quick, even for meals that required actual cook time. This place is a hidden gem! Well, maybe not hidden, but I just discovered it. Holy wow! Reasonable prices for Laguna and right on the beach. We had a breakfast burrito and the clam chowder and both were excellent. I would literally drive the 90 minutes just for the soup! Very good counter serve cafe offering lots of food options but famous for their popular lobster rolls. They don't skimp out on the lobster portions and they are extremely fresh and delicious. Beware of market price though, each lobster roll was $38, which was double the price of all of their other menu items. The chicken tenders were also very good, crispy and tender. You order at the counter and they have outdoor seating which can be full during weekends. There is a huge paid parking lot that is right by the beach so you can enjoy a nice stroll after enjoying their food. Great location right by the beach and friendly staff. read more

Lost Pier Cafe, my goodness. Out of all the times I've been to this beach, I have been missing out. Wow. I literally judged this book by its cover and won't do that again. I honestly thought it was just a fast food snack, fries, bags of chips and burgers type of joint. Literally. The last time we went to Aliso Creek Beach, the hubby decided to grab some food. Total surprise to me because it's not like him to buy stuff at places like this. What we ordered; 1) ceviche with chips - holy moly. The ceviche was so fresh, so tasty, absolutely delicious. The chips were seasoned oh so good. My first bite was amazeballs. 2) fries with garlic aioli - I couldn't stop eating this one either. That aioli was perfection. **note that they use environmentally friendly food containers and utensils. That's a big deal and I am thankful that they're conscious of waste. I wish we had more to eat but next time we will definitely sit down at the tables and order the following; -clam chowder -lobster sandwich -ceviche (again) -tuna poke bowl -fish and chips -fish tacos -grilled chicken caesar salad -cheese burger -cheese quesadilla -tuna melt -fried chicken sandwich -beer, coffee drinks My my. Really great spot if you're looking for a spot on the beach. Not too many places in OC to dine right on the sand. This is one of them and the food is great. Got the fish tacos and the ceviche and boy was it good. Definitely recommend getting both of those if you go. They use local rock fish which tasted great. They have a beer and wine license if you're looking for something to drink. Overall, great spot to head to. Bring a towel or chain to sit on the sand as there aren't a lot of spots to sit and it does get busy!!! read more

I wanted to have breakfast by the ocean on Tuesday to celebrate my birthday and I decided to go to this cafe. It was my first time but the reviews of the food, service and location got my interest. I'm so happy I went there. The location is perfect by the beautiful beach. The food that my husband and I ordered was delicious which was a breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich, beignets, coffee tasted gourmet. We also had a few refreshing mimosas. *Delayed post from Jan '25 This beach front cafe really surprised the hell out of us! This is nothing like your typical fast food beach shack. The quality of everything we ordered was very high despite its relaxed vibe directly on the beach. While the food took a little time to come out and they got one of our orders incorrect, it was well worth the wait since they cook everything fresh. There was also plenty of parking available, both metered and free for restaurant customers. The Breakfast Burrito was encased in a thick tortilla that kept all the contents nicely snug inside, but it wasn't overly heavy. The bacon bits in the center were thick and not overcooked. The hash browns were more like Piknik potato chips than hash browns due to their crispiness, which honestly added a great texture to the burrito in comparison to undercooked potatoes that tend to cause mushiness. The tortilla chips on the side were super thin, reminiscent of Chili's chips, but the Tajín seasoning and spicy yet tangy salsa elevates it so much. The French Toast was visually very appealing with lots of colors from the berries and a white dust of powdered sugar. I appreciated that the fruit was properly ripened, delivering flavor and sweetness with every bite, and the large amount of toasted almond slices brought in a good balance of nuttiness and crunch since the other ingredients are soft. Since they used brioche bread, the french toast itself was even eggier than normal, which I personally prefer to make it a heartier meal. The maple syrup was a classic choice, but I think a fruit reduction would have taken this to another level since the syrup is too easily absorbed and could use more moisture. The Fish and Chips was our least favorite as we originally ordered the fish tacos, but it was still tasty. There was a significant amount of lightly battered fish, fried to a perfect golden brown and had an audible crunch with every bite. Almost reminded us of the crispiness you get in vegetable/egg roll wrappers. While the texture was spot on, the fish itself wasn't well seasoned, so the tartar sauce and lemon wedges were definitely needed to provide acidity and salt. The fries are double battered, similar to Checkers/Rally's fries, but without all the black pepper. We added some of the Tajín from the chips and LOVED it! They should seriously consider this as an optional seasoning. They could even add it to the fish for a spicy kick. read more

Went here for the first time to kick off my wife's birthday celebration in the Laguna Beach area, and it turned out to be a great find. It's a hidden little gem right across from Aliso Creek Beach, and a big plus for us was that it's dog-friendly. Just a heads up: dogs are allowed on the beach from September through June. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was filling and solid overall. The standout for me was the crunch from the hash browns paired with the salsa. My wife went with the Maine-style lobster roll and really enjoyed it. For a beachfront spot, the outdoor seating area was clean and well kept. The music was on point too--laid-back Pacific reggae that set the tone perfectly. Service was spot-on; the cashier was friendly and helped us decide on our orders. My wife and I have been going to the Lost Pier Café for several years. We are huge fans of their food as well as their parent restaurant across PCH, The Ranch. The food at the Lost Pier Café is incredibly fresh, very flavorful and perfect for on the beach dining. They also offer a very large array of adult beverages, soft drinks, coffee, and teas. The staff work there is absolutely amazing! Many of them have been working there for years and know that I sometimes like to order off the secret menu. They do have an area with picnic tables and umbrellas however, the weekends and especially sundown can get very busy they also have great music playing in the background. read more

Talk about the perfect beach restaurant experience this is it. The short walk from restaurant to beach helps so much. No one wants to drudge a 1/4 mile to grab food. The Lost Pier is right on Aliso Creek Beach and shares the same chefs as the much more expensive The Ranch at Ben Browns Golf Course across the street. I highly recommend the burger and fries.
