I ordered the short ribs as you can never go wrong with short ribs. They were good, but not what I would consider the best short ribs that I've ever had. I think that Napa, so far still has the best short ribs. The short ribs here were a bit on the bland side for me, but they were tender to where you only needed a fork to cut them as they should be. Last call outdoors is a little early and it would've been nice to have it a little later but we may deal with what time we had. Best kept secret (and serene dining setting) in Laguna Beach! We have been here a couple of times and this place doesn't disappoint. The service is impeccable. On this day, our server Edgar went out of his way to deliver outstanding service. My husband asked for something only on the weekday menu and Edgar made it happen - Bravo! He also suggested one of the juices (the carrot and tumeric) and offered a sample so we could try it first (it was delicious). Awesome! That cinnamon roll is the size of a dinner plate, so we split it 3 ways (could have easily served four). The cream cheese frosting isn't overly sweet, so when paired with the candied bacon and maple syrup, it balances out nicely. Yum! Edgar kept my coffee cup full and made sure we didn't need anything. The ceviche is OUTSTANDING. Light chips, fresh fish, expertly seasoned. The addition of the pickled mustard seeds on top add something unique to the flavor profile, so much so that we were googling how to pickle mustard seeds ourselves. Some of the best ceviche we've ever had (and we've had a lot). Could be spicier, but delicious. So the food and service are great - did I mention the view? Sitting on the patio, you overlook a serene canyon and their golf course, and feel like you're in a completely different space. It's so beautiful, peaceful, open, and lush. I could sit on that patio and eat cinnamon rolls and drink my neverending coffee all day long. The ocean-facing restaurants get all the attention in this town. So excited to discover this hidden gem tucked inside Laguna Hills! Located on a beautiful golf course, Harvest offers beautiful views, as well as an extensive menu of elevated Californian cuisine and innovative cocktails. We stopped by spontaneously for a weekend brunch after seeing this spot on social media, and were pleasantly surprised that it 100% lived up to the hype! One of our favorites was the ceviche, which came with a tasty mix of cooked white fish, tomato, peppers, onion and cilantro paired with fresh tortilla chips, and is a refreshing option for a hot summer Californian day. I also surprisingly enjoyed the bone marrow, which was so deeply flavorful without being overwhelmingly rich, and paired beautifully with their freshly roasted bread. I can't believe I never knew about the restaurant. It is right across from Aliso Creek beach up in an area called The Ranch. There's a beautiful golf course situated in the basin of a hilly area -- the views are gorgeous. Across from the pro shop, you'll find Harvest, a beautiful restaurant with indoor, outdoor and bar seating. First, you MUST try their giant cinnamon roll. We got ours with the candied bacon on the side and I'm craving it just thinking about it! Everything we ate was delicious. They even have fantastic coffee drinks too! This is a really beautiful spot. The restaurant itself feels like a nice slightly upscale type of lodge. The menu is really thoughtful and well put together. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. They mention a lot of locally grown produce items on the menu. The Caesar salad was perfect. The wagyu cheesesteak was more bready than I would have liked, but still good. The homemade chips were fabulous. I would get this just to bring home. The apple and pecan pie were really really good. The burger was absolutely massive. Other than the salads, everyone we were with stated that their food was a bit unseasoned. I suggest putting salt and pepper on the tables, if the goal of the chef is to season foods so lightly. Why not 5 stars?? The service was just okay. Our server was really sweet. She tried hard. Little things were missing, like clearing plates. Offering cream with coffee. Refilling or asking for additional beverages. We had to flag her down a few times with empty glasses that had been there for awhile. The busboys were very helpful once we flagged them. I was so happy with my experience here! Harvest is located on a ranch. There is a hotel where you can stay and a golf course as well. Parking for the golf course and the restaurant is valet only but it is free. I didn't make a reservation to go in but they had lots of tables on a weekday. They have both plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. The indoor vibes are very warm and cozy and the outdoor vibes are nice with the views of the ranch. In the indoor seating, they also have couches and booths. Additionally, they have seating where they have large windows and it also overlooks the ranch! The service here was great. Upon seating they got us started with waters and offered to move heaters next to us since it was a cloudy day. We also got blankets to stay warm. Their food was also really good! We wanted to try the breakfast menu but got there at around 12 (which is when they start serving their lunch menu), but even so, the lunch menu had so many options we wanted to try. The appetizers and starters all sound good, and the servers are really warm and nice introducing the menu. We ordered the french onion soup, wild mushroom pasta, and the baked lobster mac and cheese. They were all delicious! The french onion soup is flavored perfectly and I loved the cheese on top. The wild mushroom pasta was also delicious. The pasta was cooked nicely and the mushroom flavor was strong. The mushroom itself is really soft and not hard at all. The lobster mac and cheese had the perfect ratio of lobster to cheese. I really enjoyed my experience at the restaurant. After finishing food at Harvest, you can walk a little next to the golf course, or take pictures in front of the mountains of the ranch. TLDR; beautiful restaurant, very attentive staff, and mixed flavor food. The drinks were delicious and perfectly made. The appetizers were good and flavorful especially the bread, cheese board, shrimp cocktail, and croquettes. The onion soup was flavorful and good as well. The salmon wasn't bad but something within the flavor of the sauce it was drenched in made it off putting. The reduction in the braised short rib ruined the meal and the potato pie was more of a leftover hash brown. The scallops were alright but could have been cooked a touch longer which left them a little slimey. The milk and cookies saved the dessert because they were delicious! The location of the establishment is beautiful and our server last night was absolutely lovely. However, I do not believe I would recommend the food to anyone. We started with the duck drumettes, which were definitely the best dish but nothing special. I chose mussels as my main, but the white sauce was way too thick and creamy and wayyy too salty (this is coming from someone who sprinkles and licks plain salt for fun). I did like the bacon as an additional touch, but again I feel like a sauce for this kind of dish has to be much lighter. My mom ordered the swordfish, but it looked very dry and the mashed potatoes at the base were quite bland. My dad liked his burger, but felt his fries were too burnt. I did really enjoy my martini and felt it was the only well-priced item on the menu. I think I would definitely recommend Harvest to grab drinks with a beautiful view, but dinner would definitely best be served elsewhere. read more

Celebrating at harvest is absolutely the best experience you could have whether it be a birthday or a wedding or an anniversary or just life in general.. It's always better at harvest. We had the most amazing waiter , Sal he gave much personal attention. It was fantastic. A handwritten birthday card was given. The dessert was amazing handwritten chocolate on the plate. The food is so good. It's far a table. They have very seasonal delicious fresh food. (1/5) The view is beautiful, but unfortunately that's about the only positive thing I can say about our experience. Our food took much longer than tables that were seated after us. Even our appetizers hadn't arrived while other tables that came later were already being served. We had to wait an unreasonable amount of time. Our server was also difficult to find throughout the meal. I asked for a straw, but it never came, so I eventually had to ask a different server, who wasn't even assigned to our table, to bring me one. When our food still hadn't arrived, I again had to ask another server for help because we couldn't find ours. When our server finally came over, he insisted that the other table had been seated before us. After checking, he admitted that they had actually been seated after us--but never apologized. What disappointed me the most wasn't even the wait, but the complete lack of accountability after realizing the mistake. To make matters worse, an 18% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. This charge was not disclosed on the menu, and no one informed us about it beforehand. Being required to pay an 18% gratuity after receiving service like this felt completely unjustified. I'm considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because customers deserve transparency and shouldn't be surprised by mandatory charges. The food itself was also disappointing. The BBQ back ribs were noticeably overcooked and had a strong burnt, bitter flavor that overwhelmed the meat. Overall, the food was very average and did not come close to justifying the price. The scenery is the only reason this place gets any stars from me. Everything else--from the service to the food--was disappointing. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend it. read more

The only two things good about Harvest restaurant at The Ranch was the view and the service. I liked the team work service concept but the food was BLAND. I ordered the beef short rib and it came served on top of creamed corn. This was the most unpleasant way of presenting (plating) the short rib is it looked like vomit on a plate. There was no wine reduction as it states on the menu and although it was tender there was no taste. The fries were cold and soggy and bland as well as the jidori chicken which is also weird because it came fried, not baked or grilled. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all and feel that they need to either shut it down completely or hire all new chefs. Out of all the restaurants I've been to this was honestly my least favorite. If you do go here just sit outside by the fire pits and have drinks and listen to the live music but do not try the restaurant!!! read more

While staying a few days at The Ranch at LB recently, we had both breakfast and dinner at Harvest. First of all, I was impressed with all the restaurant staff we encountered - they are friendly, professional, and go out of their way to make everything special. Special shout out to our server, Daniel at breakfast. We both had the caramelized onion/squash quiche and we just had to experience a $23 cinnamon roll! It was nearly the size of a dinner plate with cream cheese topping, candied bacon and a ton of syrup. The cream cheese on top was a great addition, but I could have done without the candied bacon or maybe just regular crispy bacon bits - I thought it was way too sweet. But that's me...my hubby thought it was perfect as is lol! For dinner, we had great cocktails at the bar and the hostess was so accommodating when we arrived without a reservation. While we were happy to grab seats at the bar and order a meal there, she was able to find us a table by the time we finished drinks and were about to order. My salmon dish was perfectly prepared and so yummy, and my husband enjoyed the pork chop that our server recommended. The ambiance of the restaurant is awesome and the views are incredible. We had a team dinner at Harvest and the entire experience was absolutely top-notch. Despite being a large group, our server, Crews, went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of - truly one of the best service experiences I've had in a while. He was attentive, warm, and made the night feel really special. He definitely had us laughing the entire night so we really enjoyed his company. I ordered the braised short rib and it did not disappoint - so flavorful and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we went all out and tried several options, and honestly, it's hard to choose a favorite. The apple pie a la mode and chocolate chip cookies were both next-level good. For the second time in a couple of months I went to Harvest and was disappointed with the service. The food overall is amazing. However the service was a mess two of the three times I have been there in the last three months. For example, dinner app rolls were ordered but came to the table after the entrees arrived. Our server was asked if this is normal and dismissed the question politely but lacked any sincerity. Another example is the Soup came out cold and was returned. But again shallow apology we felt. Service was amazing all around, we got drinks while we waited for our table (we had reservations which I highly recommend) & the bartender was so nice as well as our server. We got the duck wings & peaches to start. I loved the duck wings, they were so flavorful. Both dishes were plenty to share. For the entrees, I got the special which was sea bass with mushrooms (sea bass had a nice flavor, some of the mushrooms were a bit chewy though). Our party of four enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner celebration last night. The entire staff from manager Chris, to server Wissam ably assisted by Randy, made sure our evening was special. The focaccia bread, baby wedge salad, Angus hamburger, brussels sprouts, grilled salmon salad, seafood chowder, and short rib with crispy potatoes were all beautifully plated & delicious. We've been to this restaurant a few times before, and we always had a great experience. But this visit was completely different. We ordered the cinnamon rolls and a few breakfast dishes like we usually do. Then, to our surprise, we watched a server give my food to another table -- apparently to people they knew. Because of that, we ended up waiting a really long time for the rest of our food to finally come out. It was pretty obvious the server did it on purpose, because that table had just sat down and hadn't even ordered drinks yet -- and somehow our food was gracefully delivered right to them. Although we've attended events at The Ranch, it was my first time to dine at the Harvest restaurant. I had the grilled chicken club sandwich with fries. It seemed quite impressive when it was presented, but realized that it was extremely difficult to eat (two) 3 inch sandwiches loaded with bacon/avocado/chicken/tomatoes etc. I tried cutting into half and all the fillings spilled out. I essentially ended up eating the fillings with my fork and ate the bread separately. How about quartering it to make it more manageable? The dining room was spacious and very beautiful. Absolutely stunning setting... Inside and out! Great service... And a good menu. But I am absolutely stunned at the lack of gluten-free options. Also, their kale and farro salad is listed as gluten free!! Farro is NOT gluten free at all! It's from the wheat family. When we mentioned that to our server she didn't seem 100% certain when telling us it could be left out/ but how is this salad listed as GF? For those (like me) with an actually intolerance to Gluten- dine here cautiously. I will definitely go back (and it's one of my husbands favorite spots), but I will ask more questions about the menu. The ceviche was really good 5/5, but my tacos were pretty flavorless. It was odd actually... Some bites were OK- not outstanding... but some bites had absolutely no flavor at all.
