This is the perfect restaurant to have a fancy meal or a girl's brunch! Whenever I come across any restaurant known for its views or ambiance, the food is often subpar so I didn't have high expectations coming here. But wow did that change my mind!! The margherita flatbread was a table favorite and approved by my Italian friends. We also loved the alaskan halibut tacos & crispy chicken sandwich. The portions were big enough to share or eat individually so it felt worth the price. As a party of 8, we honestly had a great experience with our food, service, and waterfront seating. The food was delicious, and the service was great overall. Most of the staff were friendly and professional. However, one server named Efrain was very rude. We wanted to take a few quick pictures, which would have only taken a couple of seconds, and he told us we needed to leave in a very unfriendly manner. We completely understood that other guests were arriving and had no problem leaving. In fact, other staff members kindly explained the situation to us, and we left right away. I booked this restaurant for an early Mother's Day celebration, and my mother was very pleased. First, the views this restaurant sits right by the coast beachfront and has amazing views. Secondly, the service and wait staff is impeccable. We received great recommendations, attentiveness, professionalism, and hospitality. The lobster bisque, Parkhouse rolls, octopus, the special of the day, which was tuna Hamachi. We also ordered the scallops, mushrooms, green beans, mashed potatoes and sea bass. The items that stood out the most were the lobster bisque. the Parkhouse rolls, the Seabass, the scallops and the Hamachi tuna. I was taken back that the octopus was fried and it was tough and had an interesting flavor. I'm used to octopus legs being grilled and tender, so I was quite disappointed with that. We also ordered a couple of cocktails that we weren't thrilled about. The flavors didn't work well together in the drink, but I did like how the glasses were ice cold I just wish the cocktails were more impressive. I feel like that's the gift and the curse. When you have a restaurant that is oceanfront. Typically oceanfront restaurants their food isn't that great because it doesn't have to be because of the ambience. The only place I've ever been where they had the oceanfront location and the food was amazing was Nobu Malibu specifically. This place offers the best views on Laguna beach with the waves crashing against the restaurant! Absolutely stunning views from an oceanfront table around sunset! They serve amazing cocktails and just the venue makes it worth your while. The service is friendly and attentive. The hostess was particularly nice and moved me to a better table when I complained of the harsh sun directly hitting my seat. I decided to stay beyond the one cocktail I had planned for just because I was in love with the atmosphere there. We wanted to try the newly renovated Splashes Restaurant for ourselves. I'm giving it three stars because the ambiance is five stars, but the food is really one star. Our waiter was excellent and deserves five stars, while the manager gets one star, so I guess it averages out to three stars. I didn't read the reviews beforehand because I wanted to judge it for myself, but I agree with many other Yelp reviewers that the food just isn't very good. After lunch, I realized for myself that the food wasn't that good, and several other Yelpers mentioned that dinner was mediocre as well. This feels more like a place to come for a drink, relax, and enjoy the beach view. The reason I'm giving the manager one star is because I wanted to host my birthday dinner there - this was before lunch was served and reading reviews. The waiter suggested I request Table 33, which is in a beautiful area, but when I spoke with the manager, he refused to reserve it even though my dinner is still two months away. I don't know how they do business, but this doesn't seem like the right way to handle a customer request. If I come back--and I probably will, because the setting is beautiful--I'd likely order a small hors d'oeuvre and a drink. read more

I had a good overall experience. The food was delicious and the cheese board was especially flavorful and well put together. I'm a big fan of craft cocktails and have tried drinks at many different restaurants, so I had high expectations. While the drinks were okay, they didn't quite stand out to me, some of the flavors were a bit unusual and not really to my taste. We were seated near the bar area, which offered a great view and added to the atmosphere. Our server seemed to be handling a very busy section, so although he wasn't very attentive, it was clear he was doing his best under the circumstances. The day of visit, severe storm warning was issued so all the doors were closed, all the umbrellas were folded and getting ready for the storm. The views were amazing. Almost right over the water. The name Splashes definitely fits it. For breakfast, menu was simple and nothing really stood out. Short rib skillet anyone? I was expecting to pay more for the views but wasn't too exuberant . My drink wasn't good. Definitely needed a money back. Felt like it was diluted. Presentation was C rated and also glass had some juice that was spilled. Should have been wiped before serving. The restaurant of this caliber and price on high side, definitely needed an improvement. When one goes wrong, all else will look not as good as you had hope for. We came here mostly for the view of the beach while eating. On that point, they get five stars. Overall, the food was okay, but obviously pricey, being that it's at a resort hotel. The octopus was overcooked. The outside was way too crispy and tough, but at least the inside was still a little bit tender, yet chewy. At least they didn't overcook the steak. Splashes is an amazing spot if you want a great ocean view and a relaxed, upscale vibe. Valet was not expensive, and the staff was very friendly and helpful from start to finish. The best part honestly is the atmosphere. Sitting outside with the sound of the waves crashing while you eat is next level, and they have heaters that keep you warm so you don't even feel cold. Food-wise, it was good/OK overall, but there were a couple standouts. The short ribs were very tasty, and the sea trout was solid, very similar to salmon. The service is still top tier but the food is not. On top of that they've removed the olive tapenade and fresh bread they offered. When I asked this teenage boy In a suit names Julien (8 don't know if that's how he spelled it but he looked like it was spelled this way) he said it was to elevate the restaurant. I came here for my birthday and was pretty disappointed. The view is amazing but the service and food was okay at best. The pricing of the food definitely does not match the quality of food. I'm no stranger to spending $100+ per person on food but the food was very lackluster and lacked a lot of flavor. The service was also just okay, there's way better service at other places and they actually make you feel welcomed. When I first got there I noticed a waitress by the entrance who just ignored us. One thing I noticed is that even though it was my birthday, I never received a card signed by the staff. Every other table that came in for a birthday or anniversary received one except me. My boyfriend wrote it in the notes when he made the reservation and he mentioned it again when he called them. They did give us a dessert though. Overall I will not be coming back. I really recommend this restaurant! I've had my fair share of restaurants at Laguna Beach and this is by far the best one I have been to. Getting to the restaurant and seating: This restaurant is inside the Sand and Surf Hotel which has beautiful oceanside rooms. Your best bet for parking for this restaurant is street parking, however, they also have a valet. Walking into the hotel, there is a beautiful oceanside view great for pictures (especially sunset). The restaurant is located on the fifth floor, and you take an elevator at the end of the hall in the lobby to get there. This restaurant has plenty of seating all with great views. Honestly, sitting both indoor and outdoors is great at this restaurant as they all have great ocean views. For the outdoor seating there are two stories all facing the ocean. The inside has rooms and just seating facing the sky high windows that directly overlook the ocean. All 10/10 views. Service: They were honestly so kind! I went for a birthday celebration and my reservation was at 7pm. However, I arrived early and asked if I could change my reservation to an earlier time. I was able to get our table in just 10 minutes. For my birthday, they even provided a complimentary crème brûlée at the end of our dinner and provided a birthday note and the beginning of the meal which shows their care for customers! The crème brûlée was great- not too sweet, and the fruits weren't sour at all. Servers checked up on us a lot and ask how we were doing and if we needed anything else; great service overall! Food: I actually really enjoyed the food here. We only ordered two plates as we weren't super hungry, but the food surprised us! We loved the tenderness and softness of the chicken and the truffle and corn flavor in the other dish. I definitely will come back again just for the food. Parking is either through the hotel's valet service or on the street at $3.60 per hour. Service was beyond five-star--extremely warm and welcoming. Even though we only mentioned our dining occasion at the last minute, the staff surprised us with a signed greeting card and a complimentary dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch. As for the food, nothing was particularly amazing, but nothing was bad either--solid but unremarkable. The lobster bisque was probably the best dish, though quite pricey. Made a reservation for 4 a week early, called in and changed it to 5 a few days before; when arriving at restaurant had some trouble getting seated due to a miscommunication of the hostess not marking down that it was now for 5 and not 4. They were gonna try to reserve us for a table 2 hours later.. After some push back we were able to get seated in their first come first serve area. Kind of a rocky start but once the drinks and food came, it was a good time. Not ideal seating as 3 of us were squished on one side of the booth of a smaller table so I was eating on the edge of the table. Crab Benedict is great here as well as the calamari. One of the most special Christmas Eve dinners prepared by chefs- Ron Fougeray and Peter Lai I feel like they really went above and beyond for everyone this night it was raining, but it was still beautiful inside so Christmasy romantic the food was incredibly delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We started off with the Pullman loaf with Vermont butter, we enjoyed the Kampachi Crudo with Rose, apple salsa and Serrano oil(my favorite) the crispy Spanish octopus with charcoal, potatoes, corn, mousse, and crispy prosciutto so much flavor. The spiced liberty duck breast with caramelized figs and parsley roots, the braised short rib with squash purée was prepared perfectly I have to say the dessert was one of my favorites. It was there version of carrot cake with carrot, ice cream, and mango chutney. It was truly a Christmas delight. Patrick, our waiter for the evening was so gracious and took great care of us, suggested that we come back next time and try their very special cheesecake. A light on the top of the hotel may help this problem to further enhance evening dining. The dining room could also use some soundproofing. We had the price fix 3 course dinner with wine pairing. Our favorites were the complementary lobster bisque and the scallop was perfectly seared. We also enjoyed the basque cheesecake with the crumbles and apples (though I think a raspberry sauce would have gone better with the cheesecake) and the complementary and beautiful birthday crème brûlée. However we felt that some of the flavors in the dishes didn't marry well together. The scallop dish- we enjoyed the poached pear, but with cauliflower and some of the vegetables in the sauce didn't combine well with the delicate scallop. I also did not care for the flavors in the crudo appetizer. I have had a fabulous raw fish appetizer previously at Contramar in MC. We were greeted by a lovely pair of host who gave us so many options of where to sit, and we finally settled on the sunny patio All of our weight staff was incredibly kind and attentive. We made a reservation at Splashes for dinner on July 4th to celebrate my niece's birthday. The weather was beautiful and the venue had great ambiance. Although we requested outdoor seating, we were seated indoors--apparently the wait for outdoor tables was quite long, so we went with the indoor option. Unfortunately, a neighbor's balcony blocked the sunset view, but we still appreciated being near a window with a lovely beach view. We ordered the Tableside Lobster Bisque, Spanish Octopus, Corn & Crab Risotto, Meyer Lemon Fettuccine, Colorado Rack of Lamb, and Seared Alaskan Halibut. The food was decent--what you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber--but the portions were very small. We finished everything but left still feeling hungry. Thankfully, we had birthday cake waiting at home. While the ocean view is definitely a highlight, the restaurant is a bit of a walk from the beach park, and considering the portion sizes and pricing, I'd probably think twice before returning. read more

When talking with the reception desk about a designated smoking area & lounge (we are from the deep south and we love a great cigar & smokee with a great drink) he suggested me to walk 15-20 minutes down the street to a designated smoking area for the city of laguna beach to my understand I understand that the city has a no smoking policy unless it's at a cigar lounge) Hostess seemed a little stressed and after she was trying to seat us she ran away and disappeared she probably was running away for playtime but, idk she was really in a hurry to go somewhere with this guy she was talking to at the bar maybe she wanted Cuộc hẹn làm tình with a Âm đạo rậm lông. Drinks: alright not a good selection they no have guava juice and they no have luxury choices like hennessy very special (Rượu Cognac rất đặc biệt (Hennessy) got some basic drinks but, if they want to be considered a luxury hotel brand they should have a better selection of refreshing beverages (the montage and the ritz carlton have better options go there they will treat you like a VIP guest) unlike here where they only care about your money and the dolla amount you spend. Food: asked for some light snacks and they offered popcorn and it was a great snack option until it arrived and it took 15 minutes to get it and it came out stale (no good). What hotel doesn't have a bar or a lounge area in the lobby? Even the Montage or the Ritz Carlton has a lobby bar that stays open beyond 7pm. Had dinner here last night to catch the beautiful sunset. This breathtaking oceanfront restaurant is located on the first floor of the Surf & Sand Resort. The service was outstanding. A special shoutout to our lovely server Jhoana, who was attentive and on point all night. We started with the Artisan Pullman Loaf a delicate bread perfectly paired with butter, a great way to kick off the meal. We also ordered the Hamachi Tartare, which was light, flavorful, and beautifully balanced with the toasted pine nuts. Next came the Splashes Caesar Salad, and I absolutely loved the green goddess dressing. For my main course, I had the Red Snapper with risotto, a flawless blend of flavors with perfectly crispy skin. My boyfriend ordered the Niman Ranch Pork Chop. Though slightly overcooked, he still found it delicious. We brought our favorite bottle of wine from Sanger. The $50 corkage fee was worth it for the experience. Since we finished dinner before sunset, we ordered a smoked Old Fashioned and took in the stunning ocean views. The weather was perfect, and the sound of the waves made everything feel peaceful and romantic. The recent remodel is impressive--the bar area is just as beautiful as the dining room. I went to Splashes about 5 years ago for a weekday breakfast and I remember being impressed. I just came today with my family for brunch to celebrate Mother's Day. Right before I came I looked at the menu and thought the prices have increased dramatically in 5 years. Sat down at our beautiful table outside overlooking the very blue ocean! Heaven. We ordered our food quickly because we were hungry. Our food came out and we all look at each other like, "What the ...." It was like we were at a French restaurant. I ordered steak and eggs (maybe the menu said "steak and egg") but I didn't catch it. My breakfast was ONE egg and a very small steak with a side of potatoes. Others got fish tacos. Two very small fish tacos for $30. We ended up ordered 3 more sweet entrées because we were all still hungry. My mom ordered the burger and it was very good overall. The staff was very nice, but did forgot my daughter's piña colada until they were reminded half way through our meal. The same happened for my mother in law for her latte.
