We never felt rushed or pressured to order quickly. I got the spicy chicken sandwich after seeing previous reviews, and my wife got the Lagunaian wedge and Mac & cheese. Everything was exceptional. I love blue cheese, but am not the biggest fan of fried chicken with cheese on it. This combo flipped me on my head, so delicious with the blue cheese slaw. The Mac & cheese was almost like a hybrid of a baked Mac and a gooier stovetop style Mac, and the six cheese blend added a lot of depth of flavor. Celebrated Mother's Day brunch at Oak Laguna Beach and overall had a nice experience. We made a 10 AM reservation through OpenTable and were seated right away, which was appreciated on such a busy holiday morning. The staff was very friendly and welcoming throughout our visit, and the patio seating offered beautiful views. We tried the Eggs Benedict, chilaquiles, breakfast skillet, Italian chopped salad, and the French fries appetizer. While everything was good, the food itself felt fairly basic considering flavor and serving size. Service was a bit slow when it came to receiving both our food and the bill, although it definitely started getting much busier around 10:30-11 AM because of the holiday crowd, so that likely played a role. One thoughtful touch was the complimentary heart-shaped chocolate dessert they gave moms for Mother's Day, such a sweet gesture. All in all, we're glad we gave it a try, but will probably explore some other nearby brunch spots next time we're in Laguna Beach. read more

We had dinner and drinks for a bachelorette party here at Oak and it was THE BEST experience! Planning the large group event: We booked a table for 25 people 2 months in advance for a Saturday night. Tony was the person I spoke with on the phone to originally plan it, but he was also so patient every time I called with questions about how many ways we can split the bill (max 3 ways), the latest we could stay (another hour past closing if we were finishing ordering drinks), and if I could change the number of people depending on who RSVP'd (yes! With about a week's notice depending on how drastic the change). Tony checked back in with us a week before to ensure we were happy with our reservation of 25 people, and was accommodating when we had to change +/- 2 people on the day of! Experience: Tony was our amazing host, the servers, especially Darvin, were incredibly kind and super on top of who ordered what and all special requests. Everything was super clean, the dishes were plated BEAUTIFULLY, and every food and drink quality was well worth the price. Our group got VERY VERY loud at many points of the night, and the staff was still really kind about it (sorry to those around us), but Oak otherwise seems to be a very chill nice dinner place if you're going in a smaller group (most other parties around us were 2-4 people). It was a beautiful, picturesque location with a view of the ocean and a quick walk to the beach. Parking around the neighborhood for so many was easy for some, but others who parked further away took the free (FREEEEEE) Laguna Beach trolley transit. Haven't been here in a while and as always trying something new. I've had their calamari before so you known had to get that again. I liked the Ajillo shrimp it was delicious! The flavors were savory and I loved how it came with slices of bread to dip into the soup I was where the shrimp was nicely placed and with the side of semi-spicy thinly sliced carrots. It was a perfect crunch there. I ordered their Berry Spritz. Watching my intake of Alcohol, but that was very refreshing; a bit tart but perfect blend altogether. Our server was attentive and fast with our food and drinks. My friend and I did reserve a spot ahead of time which I think is best to do. Attended an after-wedding dinner for my niece. There were approx. 15 of us. I ordered the marinated skirt steak tacos, which I thought were delicious. The tacos are served deconstructed so you receive medium rare sliced steak, 3 hand-sized flour tortillas, 3 sauces in little silver cups, baby cilantro, and pickles onions. Choose what you like to make your own taco or eat the steak separately. The meat has just the right amount of char and smoky flavor. Others enjoyed their meals but I heard murmurings that the appetizer portions were small. Lots of menu options to choose from and not your average bar food...much more elevated food choices. Wow! This is my second time going to Oak and I have nothing but good things to say. The owner is so kind and truly cares about the customer experience. We got the tacos and although the size was smaller than we anticipated based on what our waitress described (according to our friends who had been here before, the dinner portion was larger for them than the lunch portion was for us) every component was fresh and tasty, from the meat to the salsa and the lime wedge on the side. The Dude was on a hunt for a new place to eat in Laguna. Drove by Oak many times. Always thought He would try it out but, it's not downtown and The Dude does not like to travel. Finally the day came. You know, it's really not that far from downtown and it's in a nice neighborhood. What makes this place worth leaving Main Beach, parking! This place has a football field size, garage that's well manicured and they validate. We came in, met the charming owner, Hassan. We were seated on the patio. We had a killer view of the neighborhood and the ocean at Oak St. Great spot. The restaurant is tastefully done. Great big bar. The staff is pleasant and on top of things. The menu has something for everyone. We had the mushroom burger, WOW! The chicken parm hit the spot. I hear the pork chop is a must have. The chef puts a unique touch on every item. Blown away with Oak! We came here last weekend as we were passing through Laguna. Oak made our anniversary dinner feel truly special, and I honestly can't recommend this place enough. From start to finish, everything was memorable: the food, the cocktails, the view, and the incredibly thoughtful service. We were greeted with a sweet "Happy Anniversary" sign and (at the end of our meal) a surprise donut treat, which completely made our night. Shoutout to our server Diego too - he went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and celebrated, and it really meant a lot. Now let's talk food: the wonton ahi tuna tacos were phenomenal - I'm literally craving them as I write this lol the spicy chicken sandwich was also a standout: super juicy with just the right amount of kick. Drink-wise, my favorite was the Heatwave (if you're a jalapeño lover, that's the one to try). We sat outside with a beautiful view of the water, and the whole experience was elevated by how charming the Hip District is. A group of friends and I came to Oak for brunch to celebrate my birthday, and everything about it exceeded expectations. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, and has an incredible ocean view. The drinks were high quality (the pickle martini was a group favorite), and I loved the steak tacos... they had a great flavor! What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Our server, Darwin, made the day feel so special. He was incredibly attentive, warm, and genuinely a joy to be around, constantly going above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. We actually left to try another spot for a drink... and ended up coming right back to Oak because it was that good. We hung out inside at the bar, and Darwin and the team surprised me with a birthday song, which a thoughtful and memorable touch.
