It was okay, but it wasn't really my favorite. I love the outdoor patio, it has a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect after a morning at the beach. Urth Caffe prepared the most perfect breakfast burrito I have ever experienced. It was a work of art and it was fresh and healthy. I enjoyed it very much. The young man who brought it to my table was polite and professional. The gentleman who removed my dish was equally pleasant and professional. However, I cannot award five stars because first impressions are lasting and the young woman cashier who took my order last Wednesday at 8:15 am was less than welcoming. After the person in front of me ordered, I was the only customer in line. I said, "Good morning," and she rolled her eyes and shook her head back and forth. At that moment, I felt like a pest who was wasting her time. I ordered the breakfast burrito and took out my credit card to pay. The cashier then barked at me, "Read the question!". I thought, perhaps, I was being asked to enter my zip code before I inserted my credit card. But, no....Instead, I was being asked if I wanted to tip and how much. This cashier's attitude was not conductive to tipping but I am glad that I did tip because the food was excellent and the other two employees were pleasant and professional. I understand that dealing with the public can be challenging but the caffe had only been open for a little over an hour and I was the only person in line. My friend got the Aloha Matcha, it was refreshing and rich with tasty coconut and delicious matcha flavor with strawberry purée. The staff was great and setting very spacious with plenty of outdoor seating and interior tables. They offer vegan and vegetarian options. I've always been a fan of Urth Caffé and make it a point to stop by whenever I'm in the LA area. Honestly, I really wish they'd open a location in San Diego because I'd probably be there way too often! What I love most about Urth is that they have so many organic and healthier food and drink options without sacrificing flavor. This time, I stopped by with a friend after a workout for some drinks and a little treat. I tried their new Aloha Matcha, and it was so refreshing. I loved the combination of coconut and spirulina, and the fact that it's vegan was a huge bonus. It tasted light, tropical, and perfect for a warm day. I also got the Vegan Chocolate Chunk Pecan Cookie, which was delicious. And when I say huge, I mean HUGE. Definitely big enough to share... although you might not want to. My friend ordered a hot caffe latte, which never disappoints. It came out with beautiful latte art, and of course we had to stop and take a few pictures before drinking it. The service here is always quick and easy. You order at the counter, grab a number, and they bring everything right to your table. This was actually my first time visiting the Laguna Beach location, and I absolutely loved it. The building reminds me of a charming cottage-style house with a large patio. Inside feels cozy and homey with dining table setups, warm decor, and even a fireplace. There's also plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas. We enjoyed this brunch spot overall and would come back again. Service was good, the patio was dog friendly, and the wait was around 20 minutes, which was not too bad for brunch. Food was good too. I had the napoleon cake. It was not the best one I ever had, but still pretty tasty, and the slice was huge. I couldn't finish it. My boyfriend got the beef hash and liked it. I had a latte and he got a smoothie, both were pretty decent. Only a couple small negatives. The metal chairs were very uncomfortable, especially if you wear a dress, so I'd recommend wearing pants. So great corner location here in Laguna Beach off Aster and N Coast Hwy(PCH) diagonally located across Laguna Art Museum. Since this was just an afternoon snack, ordered a Spanish style Cappuccino and a bagel. Twas a good drink but bagel was meh. It was afternoon so i can't fault them too much but it was a bit chewy and stale imho. Service was you standard fare for an order at the counter and given a number to set atop your chosen seating. Great spot for breakfast in Laguna. We're a bit confused walking in and the member of the staff said "is at your first time?" our answer was yes, and he explained that it was fast casual. We had to walk up to the counter to place our order and then could simply go to a table, very helpful, and an excellent first impression. We had two different egg dishes, both of which were utterly delightful. I also had a cup of large black coffee and it was quite respectable as well. Years later and my opinion still remains a 5 star. Seems like the people who have given low reviews here have a lack of patience. This place is well known and popular, and i'm not even a California native and understand this. This place is not for you if you're in a rush to go somewhere!! It's meant to be a place for savoring and relaxing. The food takes 15-18 minutes max to get and this is something i've experience even during their busiest rushes. Tables also aren't going to magically/automatically be cleaned 30 seconds after a previous party gets up from their table, it will take 5 minutes between rotations...SO now onto my review: This is hands-down my favorite Urth Caffé location--Laguna Beach takes the top spot for me, with Santa Monica coming in second. I tried the ricotta squash pizza, and it was soooo bomb--the toppings were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Their matcha was solid too, smooth with no chunks at all, which is always a win in my book. The wait gets long so go early because the view and ambiance is worth it in my opinion. The atmosphere at this location is cozy and bright, making it a perfect spot to relax, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a peaceful meal. Well, my latest update... this location has steadily gone downhill. It has been dirty every time we've been there, floors are dirty, tables and bathrooms are really dirty. Granted, it's a busy place but this used to be a lot nicer and kept up much better than it is now. They're always out of food, bread such as gluten free and sourdough, pastries are often out as well. I ordered the portabella panini, however since they were out of gluten free bread as well as sourdough, I opted to have it lettuce wrapped on top of the accompanying bed of salad that comes with it. I should have taken a picture, because all I got was one piece of artichoke with a few slices of mushrooms and pesto on the side. Not lettuce wrapped, no cheese, just really underwhelming. For the $19.00 price of a panini that I didn't get, I felt a little frustrated and should have said something but it's been a long day and I just didn't unfortunately. Lastly, I know this is being petty, but they used to take the time to infuse their water with fruit slices and some locations take pride in keeping this tradition up, but for some reason Laguna location just really lacks in all of this. Quality is missing here...I hate to write such a negative review, I'm not one to complain usually. However, I've been coming here for years and am truly disappointed in how this location has seemed to decline. Hopefully I will have better updated reviews in the future. Their coffee is good, although the beans that they sell are not as freshly roasted as I prefer. One employee told me they thought the beans were about a month old. I've been coming to this Urth location for years, and the experience is always the same -- great food, great location, and always a line. Weekends get especially crowded, so expect a wait, but that's pretty standard for Laguna. The brunch items are solid. We sat in the side patio for lunch on a Wednesday at noon. This place is bustling with people. It looks like a house surrounded by tables under umbrellas and awnings. We walked up the stairs to order indoors. The other entrance is ADA compliant. Half of the building is dedicated to the kitchen. The other half is seating. The line moved quickly as there were two cashiers working. My friend had the sprout sandwich with onions, tomato, hummus, and Havarti cheese on a lovely whole wheat. I had the PB&J on the children's menu because I have not been feeling well and wanted something easy. It came with a banana and a strawberry. I also had the frozen strawberry lemonade. Please look at the photo of my PB&J. The bread was huge. But it was also light similar to an angel food cake. I could only eat half of it. It was quite unique. Not what I was looking for and I question how that could be on a children's menu when it was so hard for a grown-up to eat it must be close to impossible for a child. Had I thought about it. I ordered a slice of the coconut cloud cake and the individual pistachio tiramisu and they were so insanely overpriced and unappetizing. coconut cloud cake: 5/10, I like the coconut flavor but the texture reminded me of kinetic sand and it kept crumbling. It was dense and dry and there was so much buttercream frosting. I expected it to be light, moist, and airy but it wasn't. pistachio tiramisu: 1/10, this was the worst tiramisu I've ever had. First of all, it wasn't tiramisu, it was chocolate cake and buttercream coated with pistachios. It was thick, heavy, and just not at all as described. A real tiramisu is made with lady fingers and marscapone filling. This was a dense cake with extensive amounts of frosting. My partner and I came in the evening and got to order pretty quickly since it was late and there weren't as many people. We got the rumi boba and the rising sun boba. The rumi boba had tumeric in it and the rising sun boba was a matcha and coffee blend. The rumi boba was tasty at the start but the ending note wasn't very good in my opinion. The riding sun didn't taste too much like matcha; mainly tasted like coffee. I personally don't think I'll come here again; I think the prices are quite steep. Two boba drinks for $19.50 before tax & tip is quite wild to me. The cup is made of corn or something so it's compostable, which is pretty cool and I'm sure they use good ingredients but almost 10$/drink is just a lot to me. My sweet Yelp friend Susan R was kind enough to introduce me to Urth Caffe in the Wynn in Las Vegas 3 years ago. I have been a fan ever since and look forward to enjoying and loving this lovely and " down to Urth" establishment any time I am in this part of our great country. I am also blessed to be doing this review on July 4, 2025, which is the 249 th year of our Independence. It is fitting that there is a globe water fountain in the outside patio with tourists from Asia, Europe, New York :), locals with their kids enjoying their organic PB & J sandwiches and Mac n cheeses. Joining our fun are some California seagulls( photo), pigeons and sparrows- not intrusive at all but partaking in the goodies from this fantastic establishment. The menu is really big( needing 2 photos) with something fitting for every palate and mood. My French Roast dark roast French press coffee is strong, very strong and just gorgeous. My Greek Yogurt( Cottage on the menu) is tasty. fresh, balanced and fun to eat. Victor the server is happy, warm and contagious. Mildred the cashier is very kind, super patient with the line as we take our time looking at, drooling and deciding from the pastry, muffin and cookie display. The menu is a bit overwhelming, so we were relieved that the items we picked ended up being ones we really enjoyed. Service: This was partly on us and partly on the café. We ordered coffee online, and our credit card showed the charge as approved, but apparently the order never went through. I checked in about 20 minutes later after we had finished eating and found out the order hadn't been placed. The employee offered to put it in for me and said to come back in 10 minutes. I returned after 15, but it still hadn't been started, and the order was incorrect. I considered canceling, but another employee said they'd start it right away, so I stuck with it. They made the effort to make it right by upgrading the hot coffee size. My main issue was being told to come back, only for it not to be ready, and then learning it wasn't even taken down correctly. I've been to Urth Caffé countless times over the years (Orange & Laguna Beach locations), but I won't be going back. Urth Caffé was a great place to go for meeting the dietary needs of vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters. But my past two times here at Laguna weren't great. When looking at their menu online, they have a key that marks Plant Based, Vegan, Vegan Option, and Vegetarian... but that's not very clear either, nor do they have the same labeling in restaurant. I had to ask a couple specific questions on ingredients during my recent visit to confirm that what I was ordering was safe for me to eat. The staff member pulled out a binder and had some information, but some she just asked another staff member. I got the portobello panini, but didn't feel good after eating it. I wonder if there was actually something I don't eat in it or maybe something else wasn't right. It was also super oily which was unappealing to eat. Bummer! Toppings from boyfriend's salad were spilled on the ground when they served it to him, but the server didn't seem to care. He said he'd bring more of the toppings but never did. Next to our table, I saw a staff member use a spray cleaning product. The salt and pepper shakers (open containers) and sugar packets were still on the table and I saw the cleaning spray mist coat and settle on the salt and pepper shakers- that's concerning for anyone that uses the salt and pepper. It also wasn't pleasant to smell the cleaner while we were being brought our dishes. Service was good and they were very nice considering how busy it was. My food was mid - matcha latte was basically milk even though we asked for more matcha, and the sandwich was really dry. Woooooow. Beautiful location on PCH in Laguna Beach. This location is the prettiest I've been to of Urth Cafe. Casual yet tasty! Loved my smoked salmon plate. A beautiful presentation with crispy toast, capers, onions and tomatoes for days. Diablo pizza was bomb with a lovely set of sauces Both fruit tart & Oreo cheesecake were unforgettable! Matcha green tea latte with oat milk was yum! Although there was a line, service is quick. Got a table right away overlooking the water.
