Las Brisas is the best! We came for a girls brunch and everything was fantastic. The margaritas were delicious and the food was just as good, perfect brunch spot with a great atmosphere. Ricardo was our server and he was such a delight. He was attentive, friendly, and really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. WARNING: DECEITFUL tipping practices! Suggested tip amounts printed at bottom of check are inflated. Our total with tax was $200. The bill showed $44 for a 20% tip - that's 22% of the taxed total and 24% of the subtotal. We only noticed because when the server took our credit card, he asked if he should add a 20% tip. We were surprised but agreed, then noticed the tip he gave himself was higher than 20%. When we told him this, he said he used what was printed at the bottom. That's when we saw that all the suggest tip amounts were inflated. This is either a system-wide error or an unscrupulous way to mislead guests to leave bigger tips. We told the manager, who replied that no one is forced to leave anything. We also found out that our server got someone's order wrong, then told the manager that we didn't like the dish. Dishonesty and suspicious practices throughout the restaurant. Buyer beware! Aside from that, the view is nice and drinks are good. I came here for the 4 course prix fix Valentine's Day Dinner with my partner and my friends and felt we were treated poorly and disregarded from this server who seemed to be in charged of the area we were seated. We actually had a different server from everyone and everyone around us were getting a rose but we didn't get any. We asked our server if she could bring the heat up in the heater, but she was unable to bring it up and said it was the highest temperature. But towards the end of our dinner the server who was serving everyone else asked if he could move the heater towards another spot and proceeded to put the heater up to its highest. Right as we were leaving he decided to change the temperature. After we put in our order it took about 15 + minutes for us to get our appetizers, I ordered a seafood cóctel and as I was eating it I found a blonde hair in my food. I waited for our server to come by but the only one that was near by was the guy who was serving everyone else and my partner had to wave him down to get his attention. He proceeded to take my app away but didn't seem bothered by it. Then later on it looked like one of the managers brought out my new cocktail and said it was fresh but she didn't have any compensation for the incident. In general my friends and I felt like we were discriminated by the service. Everyone around us got treated better and more attentiveness towards them. We waited long periods of time for each of our courses while everyone else's food came out faster than us. Went here on Mother's Day for brunch and sat on the patio. I was excited to take my wife as the spot is beautiful. To be honest, for a 300 dollar brunch the food was average and the service was the worst we have ever had! Our server Julian on the patio was in way over his head. We had to ask him for refills every time we saw him. He sent out our first course before our fruit and bread came, had to ask for that too. The wrong food was delivered several times. Went on Saturday, April 11 at 11:30am for two 30th birthdays brunch and were seated right away even though our entire party wasn't there yet. We had a beautiful inside seat by the window overlooking the amazing ocean view and rose garden--simply stunning! Jose Lui greeted us immediately and started us on bottomless mimosas and kept them flowing throughout the meal. What a meal! Everyones order came out fast and fabulous! The location and ambience itself were great! They have a lot of seating that we were able to sit by the window by the water. The food was avg. The portions were not impressive. My daughter ordered shrimp risotto. I had a surf and turf dish with 1 steak enchilada and 1 lobster enchilada for $35 or so. Nothing else went with them. When I reserved on Open Table it asked if we were celebrating anything. I indicated bday. In fact our family was celebrating 3 bdays. There were 5 adults and 2 kids. At the restaurant no one acknowledged that we were celebrating bdays. My husband didnt want to order desserts for everyone bc the dinner was already pricey totaling almost $300. They didn't offer a complimentary dessert. I had to ask if they offered any complimentary dessert since we were celebrating 3 bdays. The server was hesitant and said that he'll see what he can do and that he can probably get a small cake. I've been going to this place for 40 years. Its views are an easy 5 star. Sadly the food and associated prices leave it - as a friend pointed out 'a tourist spot', meaning high prices with meh food. There used to be these wonderful seafood enchiladas - filled with fish, sauce, grapes - a creamy green sauce topped it, unique n beautiful. I got the steak n lobster enchiladas at $40 - reasoning a high end place will do em right. The lobster was a meh corn shell, some big chunks of lobster which I think may have been boiled and nothing else inside - the lobster chunks were way too big, making eating bite sized portions difficult - the sauce was green, but lacked cream, it was strong in tomatillo flavor, but that was it. Throw some veggies into that thing (sauce and into the inside shell), season the lobster n grill it, put a sweet component like the old grapes or mango or? I give it 2 stars because of the location and the fact it had hunks of real lobster. The steak enchilada reads like the lobster one. The steak chunks were too big, the cut kinda chewy, the fling was steak, the sauce was a red one that was better than the green, sharp in flavor, but nothing special - I generally order things with extra sauce - I forgot to, but didn't care because these were just sooooo average. Again, fill the steak with other veggies n stuff, make the sauce shine - this isn't rocket science! It came with a small side bowl with half rice, half black beans. Why they weren't plated with the main course is silly. They look like a cheap addon you might get at Denny's - and a small portion too. Rice was ok Mexican, black beans were ok too - to me 'ok' or 'good' = a 'C' grade. I want excellent and delicious etc. Most places have chips n salsa, but the tourist theme of this place dictates $12 for chips salsa and mashed black beans. The 'red' salsa was watery, but nice, the green was creamy, and I'd argue better than the sauce on the lobster. Mashed beans were good and tasty. Sol Agave gives you *much* better beans, chips and salsa for free. The interior hasn't changed in 40 years - I'm going with that's another negative, but the views and location are awesome. It's an El Toroto property, so I guess that's what happened to this place - though I *like* the food and sauces at El Torotio??? Corporate should do a lunch at Gabbi's kitchen in Orange and try their seafood enchiladas the sauce/filling are delightful - same with the steak version. Taco Mesa (Taco Rosa sister restaurant)) also knocks it out of the park. I sadly rate this place a bit less than a meh - it used to be my favorite.
