Loved the service and the food, then add on top a view of the ocean! I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich which was beautiful. It had a healthy amount of arugula, onions, and some sauce or butter which gave it good flavor. It was served with chips. My husband had the 1/2 chicken, which he loved, and my son had pasta with shrimp, which he loved. Our server, Ryan, made the experience a joyful memory. If you're in the area, stop here!

Such a nice spot with beautiful beachfront view! My friend and I stopped by for some drinks and snacks. We got margaritas, white wine, and chips with guac. Staff was welcoming and gave lots of recommendations. A little on the pricier side but guess that makes sense for the location and views. We enjoyed our time there and i would be back if I'm in the area. The only downside of this spot is getting there can be a bit of a hassle.

This place was pretty popular on the weekday that we went there. This place has good food and a great view of the beach. It's a very relaxing place to hang out at the end of the day, have a drink, and eat some seafood. The clams and mussels were delicious. One had a butter sauce and the other had a tomato-based sauce. Both were delicious and came with garlic bread to dip into the broth. The pan-seared halibut was also delicious and tasted fresh. We'll definitely come here again to try the different dishes on the menu.

The Deck is such an awesome place! The food is amazing and the view is unbeatable. Definitely worth the wait! A must do whenever I am in Laguna!

No reservations required. We came on a Sunday. 30 minute wait. This gem is located right on the beach. They have a full bar. Intimate setting perfect for sunset dinner view. I'm sad it was a gloomy day but will definitely be back in the summer! They heated lamps on deck to keep us warm! The food was 10/10! Super impressed with their seafood tower. Their tuna poke as mouthwatering! It had a Santa Fe chipotle twist to it. Ceviche was fresh and so were the oysters, crab claws and lobster! Definitely recommend the seafood tower to try a bit of everything! We also ordered the scallop pasta!! The flavors bursted in your mouth! Perfect sauce to angel hair pasta ratio! I will want this again. Clam chowder... drool worthy! They had bits of bacon and celery in it!!! Soooo good. So I couldn't decide on their key lime pie or sticky toffee pudding - I told the waiter to surprise me! Thank God he brought out the sticky pudding --- ok seriously, one of the BEST I've ever had. So moist, perfect texture and not too sweet. I will come here over and over again!!! Perfect spot, perfect view! Service was amazing!!!! Very friendly and approachable-- this is going on my fave spots to eat list!!!!

We have been coming here for years and have gone through several of their menu changes! But it's been around 8 months the last time we were here. This place gets packed during summer or any good sunny day, especially on weekends. So, I'm glad to be able to come here on a weekday for lunch on a nice California day! There were only 2 of us so we were seated closest to the sand/ edge (tables at end are 2 seater). And place was not full yet. We were served by Christian R who is very pleasant and attentive. And of course, we come here mostly for the view!! The amazing view, so close to the ocean. This time we got the Laguna Cioppino and the Beach Burger. The cioppino has so much seafood (and variety of) and good! It comes with yummy buttered and toasted bread. The burger is really good too. These are two of our go to's here. Good place to chill, eat and drink while soaking the beautiful California sun. And to mesmerize on how nice it is to live in SoCal!

Love this place! Hidden gem. I live in San Diego and love to take family and friends here when they visit. Valet parking (or street meter parking and a short walk). Views are priceless. All the food is really really good. The service is always great everyone is very friendly.

Service and location are amazing. Gorgeous waterfront restaurant. Outdoor is on a deck (hah). Takes a few set of stairs to get down there. Unfortunately the food was so boring. It was just lackluster. Would definitely be back for drinks on the patio though!

This place has great views, especially at sunset. Couple that with friendly and timely service and this place is amazing. The food was exceptional and was the real star. I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese with bacon. It was so good, I'd say some of the best comfort food I've ever had. My wife had the same, but my daughter had the clam chowder. I had to food tax the chowder and it was as good as the tomato soup. I can't wait to go back to try the seafood because so many things looked delicious. This place is well worth a stop when in Laguna.

I'm so happy I went here this past weekend. The food was delicious and very tasty. It came out so fast. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and provided everything we needed. The view...need I say more? The seasoning was on point. The portions were big, and totally worth the price. There were 3 of us and we ordered 4 appetizers with 3 main. We didn't expect the portions to be that big. Very delicious and will definitely come back.

One of my favorite restaurants in Laguna Beach. I always make a reservation before getting there so checking in is an ease. I also always valet. The streets are narrow and honestly I wouldnt even know where I could park. The host is usually very nice and I do like to request outdoor seating which has always been accommodated. The food is so good and my server is friendly. I come often and some of my favorites are no longer on the menu but the items that are still on there are consistently good. The view is amazing and of course OC weather is perfect. Great for lunch and a drive down PCH. Perfect spot to bring out of towners.

A lovely restaurant for dinner by the beach with fresh seafood dishes and good service! I love a good citrusy and umami ceviche, so would definitely order that again The salmon was also cooked well, burger was solid, and the Deck tacos were actually my favorite even though I'm not a big fan of shrimp, that taco with the salsa exceeded my expectations for an appetizer.

Hidden restaurant right on the beach. Not viewable from the street but you'll have to turn into what looks like a small apartment unit but next to it you'll see a little sign that directs you to the Deck (next to driftwood). There's also valet so once you get down you shouldn't struggle too much to find this place. You can smell the salty water right when you get off. Came here to just relax in the sun and hear the sound of the waves. Was feeling a little hungry so decided to try the grilled cheese sandwich which was made with warm delicious mozzarella with grilled onions and bacon (personally asked for bacon to be excluded). This meal comes with a bowl of tomato bisque. This was the perfect meal for an overcast day. They also have oysters on a half shell and a full bar. Would be a nice place to grab light appetizer (or meal) with drinks by the water.

The Deck On Laguna Beach Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Deck On Laguna Beach

    Is there bar seating?

Yes, there is bar seating. Full bar on deck!

    Do they have parking?

Valet parking available or you can park on the street but it will be a walk to the restaurant. Check my post. I took a photo of the valet prices.

How much is valet at The Deck?

I believe it is $12 for 3 hours.

Can I rent chair and umbrella or do I have to be a hotel guest?

Yes you can rent either (I believe) without being a guest at the hotel.

    Do they have an elevator?

I don't believe so, or at least I didn't see it

When it rains, is there a covering over the deck?

Sorry no, just market umbrellas and we move a few tables inside. But it never rains

    Is there parking nearby?

They have Valet Parking at the entrance.

    Are reservations required?

The Deck does not take reservations...best to get there earlier as place is popular

We would like to go for Lunch at 11am on Friday. Would you be able to accommodate a party of 8?

They don't take reservations; it's first-come first-served, based on in-person waitlist. Or at least that's what the recording just stated as I called for reservations

Is there anything else to do around here or walk and see? Shops or anything? We will be coming from far and don't want to just eat and drive back

Go up to Heisler Park which is a lovely walk along the Laguna Bluffs. This walk starts just about at Las Brisas restaurant... breathtaking🤙🏽

Are dogs allowed on the outside patio?

No, the Deck is only patio and they only allow service dogs

Hi! Is the fish that you serve wild caught? Thank you

The Restaurant is great and serves fresh seafood. Wild caught.

Is the restaurant open to the public?

Yes. No reservations. Plan on a wait. Also valet parking is expensive. Uber or Lyft would be the way to go

    What are the vegan options?

Is there a way down to the beach from the restaurant? We wanted to have our officiant marry us on the beach and then celebrate at the restaurant with our party of 8.

Yes, they have stairs to the beach. Congratulations!

Do they take groups larger than 8?

I would assume (if covid protocol is met) ... but they'd have to put 2 round tables together... all I saw was round tables

    Is there a dress code?

No we had gone hiking and we're in workout clothes and most people were in shorts and beach attire and others were dressed nicely for a afternoon brunch

Are dogs allowed while on outdoor patio?

Service dogs only in all areas. No pets at this time.

Are they taking reservations for 4 or more?

No they are first come first served basis. During the week the wait is not bad maybe 5-30 minutes. Weekends 1-2 hours at peak times. But it's oh so worth it. And ask for Sam. He rocks. Keeps food and drinks flowing.

Are there ocean views and patio seating?

Yes the sand is literally below the deck seating and water is so close. Must be beautiful at night as we went for lunch

Brunch at Splashes Restaurant in Laguna Beach was such an amazing experience from start to finish…read more The oceanfront views alone make this place feel special, but the food and service made it even better. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxing, with the sound of the waves in the background creating the perfect coastal brunch vibe. I ordered the Meyer Lemon Huckleberry Pancakes and they were absolutely delicious. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and packed with flavor. The combination of the sweet huckleberries with the bright lemon taste was perfect, and the honey whipped ricotta with the yuzu maple syrup took the dish to another level. Every bite tasted fresh and perfectly balanced -- easily one of the best pancake dishes I've had in Laguna Beach. The service was also outstanding. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and made sure the entire experience felt smooth and enjoyable without ever feeling rushed. The staff truly added to the overall experience and made brunch feel relaxing and memorable. Between the incredible food, beautiful beachfront setting, and great hospitality, Splashes is definitely a spot worth visiting for brunch.

Secondly, the service and wait staff is impeccable. We received great recommendations, attentiveness, professionalism, and hospitality. We never had to ask for anything because our needs were anticipated. Lastly, the food, we ordered several different things. The lobster bisque, Parkhouse rolls, octopus, the special of the day, which was tuna Hamachi. We also ordered the scallops, mushrooms, green beans, mashed potatoes and sea bass. The items that stood out the most were the lobster bisque. the Parkhouse rolls, the Seabass, the scallops and the Hamachi tuna. I was taken back that the octopus was fried and it was tough and had an interesting flavor. I'm used to octopus legs being grilled and tender, so I was quite disappointed with that. We also ordered a couple of cocktails that we weren't thrilled about. The flavors didn't work well together in the drink, but I did like how the glasses were ice cold I just wish the cocktails were more impressive. I feel like that's the gift and the curse. When you have a restaurant that is oceanfront. Typically oceanfront restaurants their food isn't that great because it doesn't have to be because of the ambience. The only place I've ever been where they had the oceanfront location and the food was amazing was Nobu Malibu specifically. I wouldn't mind coming back here for some light bites like I mentioned the lobster bisque and the rolls were tasty. Everything else was good, but not great for the price point.

The owner served us initially, and he was really friendly and funny. We ordered a bottle of wine, and some cocktails. We put in some salads and an appetizer, they were really really good. But after that, our server (the owner we were told) left, and another server introduced himself. The new server was inattentive. He sat chatting with the other servers at the bar, leaving empty glasses and empty plates on the table. We had to flag him to come back to fill water. Having been myself in the service industry for years, my biggest pet peeve is when servers sit and chat where you can see them, and when they do come, they don't do a sweep and take care of things on the table. We had to put our empty glasses and trash on a side table. It was weird. The bolognese had hardly any meat in it. It was mostly tomato and onion. I've been to Argentina. Meat is a staple. Also weird. We ordered dessert and after waiting for 5-10 minutes, the server came back and told us they were missing crucial ingredients to make it. The owner came back at the end and was really gracious, but all in all, I think the execution was lacking. The service was not great. The food was 3.5/5 I love to support small business, perhaps we will try again another night.
