Such a beautiful classic Hawaiian restaurant. Walk inside an be transported to a Hawaiian get away. Beautiful drinks and food. The favorite for myself is always the poke nachos. Super fresh, lots of fish, perfect on top of wonton chips. Lots of fun tiki drinks all are made great! Staff is always super friendly and make the experience great.

Fun tiki bar vibes with live music and awesome cocktails! Today was my fiancé's last day in Laguna so we decided to go to Royal Hawaiian! When she first moved to Laguna this was one of the first places she went so it was fitting. First off the decor is spot on, they didn't miss a single inch of the place. There was a live band playing some great music. We each got a specialty cocktail in a souvenir glass. I got the Royal Hawaiian which had 2 types of rum, a light and a dark, with some citrusy notes. It was pretty good, decently strong. She got the Dragon's Milk which was soooo good. If you like piña coladas you'll like this drink, it's not the same it's much more coconut flavor and complex but very sweet. For dinner I got the top sirloin culotte with garlic butter veggies and pineapple slaw. It was cooked a perfect medium rare but could've used more seasoning. The sides were perfect. She got the Huli Huli chicken and the same sides. The chicken was cooked nicely and still pretty juicy. It had a good flavor from the citrus lemongrass marinade. I'll have to go back and try some other dishes sometime. The service was great, always someone coming by to fill our waters and take away finished plates. Our server was so nice and helpful choosing some cocktails from their extensive menu. Thanks for a great night Royal Hawaiian!

So the first time I came to the Royal Hawaiian I had an amazing time, as noted is my last review, this time, I have to say we really didn't have that same great time. This time we were with our kids so we had to sit at a table, and this was a VASTLY different experience from the bar. There was only one server handling the entire restoring as far as people actually seated at tables. First off there wasn't enough menus and they kept having to be passed table to table which was quite annoying for the way we like to sip and eat. Next we got mostly ignored the entire time, there wasn't even many people in the restaurant and it took about 50 minutes to get our first drink. The food was good, same as last time really, but the drinks were also not the same at all, I'm not sure what was going on but everything was much more mild on the rum, and the flavors were not the same. The final part came in the form of us leaving, as we left we walked by a christmas specials menu... That wasn't even offered to us the entire time we were there and we would have loved to try it out. :/ I can see myself coming back for the bar only, but im not sure I will come back with the family and the intention of sitting at a table. It's a shame, this is something that has to be fixed, there is not only history in the place, but it is TRULY gorgeous inside.

The Service here is amazing! Omar was great the entire night. I appreciate the entire staff for taking care of our large party for my friends birthday. I would come back for service and drinks alone. The food was okay. I ordered the garlic shrimp noodles, good portion decent flavor. You have the option to add chicken for an extra 6$. Some of the girls opted for that and really enjoyed it. All of the drinks we ordered that I was able to try were really good. The restaurant itself was very cute and perfectly themed.

The Royal Hawaiian is one of the oldest tiki bars in California, originally established in 1947. It is located in Laguna Beach right on Pacific Coast Highway near Cliff Drive. Parking is generally pretty hard to find in this area. However, if you are coming south on PCH, right before you get to the building, there is a driveway and small valet parking lot on the right. The first two hours is free if you present a receipt from the restaurant after your visit. After that, it is $10 per hour. The valet personnel were professional and took good care of my car. They do have patio seating out front, but obviously you want to be inside. They have a restaurant style dining area, but I would recommend sitting in the bar area which is more lively and has a lot to look at. We sat at the bar instead of at one of the tables or booths in the bar area. This allowed us to enjoy chatting with the staff. We even met a couple sitting next to us who has been coming here for 35 years. Rather than having a full dinner, we just decided to have a few rounds of drinks with some appetizers. I started out with the Banana Smuggler cocktail (pineapple & dark rums, banana du bresil, maderia reduction, $18). It had a nice banana flavor that was somewhere between light and medium, and it was a little boozy. She started out with the trademark Royal Hawaiian cocktail (gold rum, Jamaican black pot still, acid-adjusted pineapple, $18). It had a nice pineapple flavor, and was boozy. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer ($21.95). It came with six small to medium sized shrimp that were fried well and had a nice coconut flavor. This appetizer is way overpriced. We also ordered the steamed chicken dumplings appetizer ($15.95). It came with six medium sized dumplings that were not over-steamed or soggy, and had nice flavor. This appetizer was more reasonably priced. My second cocktail was the Triple Happiness (mezcal, blanco tequila, cherry heering, pineapple honey, fire bitters, $18). This drink came in a very cool skull cup with a flaming orange slice on top. The smokiness of the mezcal was at a good medium level, there was a light cherry flavor, and there was also a hint of heat from the fire bitters. Her second cocktail was the Chief Lapu Lapu (light & dark rums, passion fruit, orange, $18). This was a little on the sweeter side, and you could definitely taste the passion fruit. This one was very boozy. We were still a little hungry, so we ordered the Fish & Chips entrée ($25.95) to share. The two pieces of fish were fried well, and were a pretty generous size. The fries were also fresh and had a good crisp. We barely finished it all. The place has a great vibe, and there is a lot of great décor to look at. There was a DJ set up at the end of the bar playing great island music that helped set the mood. The drinks had a great presentation and we enjoyed them all. They were all somewhat on the strong and boozy side, but in a good way. The food was good, but next time we would probably eat somewhere else and then come here for a few drinks and maybe an appetizer. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and provided great service. If you go to their website, they are currently advertising a deal where if you pay your bill using the InKind rewards app, you'll get $30 off your purchase of $90 or more. I used it and it does work. We had a great time and will definitely return.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Classic tiki bar/restaurant with great drinks and good food. The hubby and I stopped in early on a Thursday evening for dinner and drinks. There was plenty of seating available but we opted to sit at the bar. This place is a Laguna Beach institution, and I think it underwent a renovation about 20 years ago. The place is huge, with a classic tiki look that's not too cheesy. Classy tiki, if you will. The hubby had the Mai Tai, which he enjoyed, and I got the Dragon's milk, which was really delicious. It was creamy with a unique flavor with the pandan and lots of fresh basil. Also not too sweet--possibly my fave tiki drink yet. While the menu was predictably meat centric, there were a few veg options: - Vegan tofu tikka masala with rice (unusual offering at a tiki bar, but welcome. Big chunks of tofu in a tomato-ginger sauce with Indian spices--we really enjoyed it) - French fries (the crinkly kind, frozen, presumably, but good) - Veg egg rolls (good, well-fried, but nothing spectacular) I saw the shrimp garlic noodles on the menu and wondered if they'd make it with tofu? Maybe I'll ask next time. Service was efficient but not overly friendly. We did strike up a nice conversation with another couple at the bar, though, which is why we like sitting at the bar sometimes. Anyhoo, a solid visit; would stop by again.

Loco moco (salty) and beef patty (over cooked). Macaroni salad was okay but missing that WoW taste.

Food and service were mediocre. The tiki atmosphere was remarkably pleasant:) The food needs some improvement.

Found this place on Instagram from oc_foodie and it was even better in person. Food was fire, highly recommend the Pupu Platter and the lava cake. The live music kept the place lively and really matched the vibe. And the service was excellent with multiple people stopping by to check in to ensure we were taken care of. Highly recommend you check it out especially if you're like me and it's been too long since your last trip to the islands.

Arrived late to the Royal Hawaiian, and honestly... it was kind of a bummer. The drinks are solid with no complaints there. Strong, well-made, and exactly what you want when you sit down hoping the night is about to turn around. This tiki needs something to add some life in there. Unfortunately, the vibe didn't quite show up. The place felt pretty empty and low-energy, which was surprising given the location and name. That said, there was one saving grace: a really talented guy singing in the bar. Great voice, good song choices, and basically carrying the entire atmosphere on his back. If you're looking for a lively late-night scene, this probably isn't it but it could be. Might be better earlier in the evening, or on a busier night. Good drinks, good music from one very good performer... just missing the life to match the setting. The amazing decor is a perfect combination for an amazing tiki bar that just needs people to make it the spot to be. I will be back !

If you are looking for a unique dinning experience look no further than the Royal Hawaiian. Visited on a Thursday night and the restaurant was fairly empty. Both our host and server were upbeat and friendly. The restaurant is decked out in themed decor perfect for all the photo ops. To start I ordered the Spam Musubi. This was my first time ever having spam, and I'm glad I tried it. It wasn't anything to run home about but it was tasty. For the main I tried the Curry Pineapple Fried rice and the Machiko Chicken Bowl. The Curry Fried rice was a little salty and ended up trading entrees with my husband. He ended up asking for a side of teriyaki sauce and the creamy sauce on the chicken bowl which he says made the fried rice amazing! The Chicken bowl was delicious - the chicken crispy which paired nicely with the rice and slaw. Overall I would love to visit again and try some other menu items!

Royal Hawaiian in Laguna Beach was the perfect Christmas Eve stop for drinks and a bite with my girl. The place is spacious, the decor is on point, and it has that fun tiki vibe without feeling crowded. Service was great from the jump too. We grabbed seats at the bar and felt taken care of the whole time. We went for their seasonal holiday drinks and both were a hit. I ordered the Melted Snowman and she got the Christmas Blues. Really good flavor on both and not overly sweet like some holiday cocktails can be. For food we shared a few things. We started with the lumpia and it was a solid appetizer. Crispy, tasty, and a good starter while we sipped our drinks. For mains we split the shrimp garlic noodles and the fried fish sandwich. The noodles are a must, easily my favorite thing we ate. The fish sandwich was good too, kind of like an elevated Filet-O-Fish in the best way. I'd honestly recommend both. The only thing that wasn't my favorite was their take on the Hawaiian mac salad. It leaned more starchy and grainy than what I'm used to, so it just didn't hit for me. Everything else was on point though. Overall if you're into tiki bars and you're in Laguna this spot is absolutely worth a visit. Good drinks, good food, great service, and a chill vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer.

A Laguna Beach icon that is impossible not to love. Always such a fun night out and an excellent way to enjoy a weekend with family or friends. The ambiance is always on point and so well decorated with all the fun tiki and Hawaiian decor. Our favorites are the curry pineapple fried rice which is sooo flavorful and the poke nachos - so fresh and has the perfect amount of fish to crispy wontons. Drinks are all delicious and in true tiki bar fashion, very strong. Service is always amazing and friendly. The lava cake dessert however was horrible for the price. Just so dry and stale. Would never get that one again.

We decided last minute to add Royal Hawaiian to our tiki bar tour, and we're so glad we did! The moment we walked in, the bartenders greeted us with so much excitement over our tiki attire. It happened to be Tiki Thursday, which meant a small discount on drinks if you're all decked out--so that was an unexpected win for us! We grabbed seats at the bar and had the most amazing bartender. We chatted about our tiki adventures, and he even gave us recommendations for new places to visit. For drinks, we started with the Lapu Lapu and the Royal Hawaiian. Both were absolutely fantastic--beautifully garnished and perfectly balanced. For food, we ordered the lumpia and the coconut shrimp, and both were delicious. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked spectacular, and I can't wait to come back and try more from the menu. Since Royal Hawaiian is also a full restaurant, we definitely hope to bring our kids someday. The décor is incredible--so much to look at! We took our time walking around to admire all the traditional tiki elements. They even have a case filled with skulls and other creepy treasures that fills with smoke--make sure to ask them to turn it on. And the booths with the jade tiles are especially beautiful. Royal Hawaiian has absolutely earned a spot on our list of favorite tiki bars in LA, and we cannot wait to return.

I arrived near opening time, and the line to the counter took about 45 minutes. The line didn't even shrink when I'd left.) I arrived at the One Piece Cafe (Los Angeles) on Sunday (around 11:08AM). There was a very long line upon arrival. They had a security guard to monitor everyone, so I felt safe. Parking is difficult since it's Los Angeles. Street Parking was very hard to find, so I parked at the nearby Parking Structure (Sho Tokyo Garage - $15 Flat Rate on Sat or Sun). It's a short two minute walk to the One Piece Cafe (Los Angeles). Staff is professional and polite. Staff worked hard despite the HUGE line of customers. It took about 45 minutes to reach the counter. And my food was completed within 14 minutes. I was lucky enough to find an open table inside. As mentioned, I ordered the Franky Double Burger & Fries ($24.50). This burger is definitely a fun spectacle, but it was also a fairly dry & overcooked burger. It was presented lovingly on a bed of crisp, well-seasoned fries. At the very least, it's HUGE!! I had plenty of leftovers. However, if I ever revisit, I'd focus on the fresh popcorn chicken or refreshing drinks. I had brought my fanatical One Piece buddy on this trip, and my friend's food tasted way better than mine. On ambiance, the One Piece Cafe (Los Angeles) is absolutely lovely if you're able to find an available table. The "windows" show the animated ocean's waves as if you're inside the One Piece boat. There's also screens showing the top pirates in a fun animated way. The location is very clean, and it felt whimsical like a themed cafe inside Disneyland or Universal Studios. The One Piece Music also plays as you wait outside in line and sit inside as you dine. If lucky enough, the experience is very special. Overall, I had a happy, cheerful experience at the One Piece Cafe (Los Angeles). There's many families, young ones, and anime enthusiasts happily adoring their One Piece Themed dining experience. If you're able to arrive early, I happily recommend. 4.5 out of 5

Ordering process: After seating you wait for a little bit for them to bring small water cups and a QR menu with a table number and a set of rules. They do not have a physical menu, you must use your phone to order. Cell phone reception was dicey and took a long time to load. They have an interesting concept where you have a digital 'tab' open on their toast website. Unfortunately you must provide your full name, email and phone number. They have pour over drinks (note these can take 15-20 minutes), matcha, Hojicha and others. You may only order one drink per person at a time. They have a small snack menu with rotating foods. They use oat milk only. No substitutions allowed. After mobile ordering, drinks take 20-30 minutes as part of their take it slow vibe. Matcha $8 is from Paru tea and was very good. Hojicha $8 was too milky and didn't have a strong enough flavor. When you are done you walk to the register by the door and wait to be checked out. If they are making a drink you wait until they are finished. I wasn't really a fan. Staff were brusque. Music was too loud to converse.

They helped us out and we were able to redeem it. We got a coffee and a banana bread for items with the admission price. They recommended us not to take the food in since they have a cat that's food obsessed heehee. We loved petting the kitty's and laying with them. They have some energized cats and some chill ones. They have elder cats and younger kittens. It was a lovely experience to pet the cats and give them some love. Maybe someday we will adopt one! I'd return!!

Right off the bat, what a pleasant experience! I would be happy to visit again and give the cats…read moresome love. I made a reservation online for two for Saturday at 11AM. Each reservation cost about $24.00. That includes an hour of time with the cats, and a drink/snack from the café per person. My partner got a chai latte, and I grabbed a brown sugar(?) cinnamon roll. Both were very good! Special thank you to the barista for the recommendation and the delicious drink. The play-room itself was very nice, with plenty of seating, toys, and CATS! Even with six other guests in the same hour, there was plenty of everything to go around. As with any group of animals (and people), each had their own personality and preferences. JC stayed perched on the palm tree and loved to get pet. The older Bengal cat didn't like being touched, but was a joy to watch. Tatiana (pictured on the table) was slow to warm up to us, but loved to play with the cat dancer. There were about ten cats altogether. The employee inside clearly cares about each cat. He explained the rules clearly, shared the names and habits of each kitty, and was a pleasant guide. Thanks for a great start to our afternoon! See you again soon.

What immediately stood out is how well the cats are treated -- they have full freedom to roam, plenty of toys to keep them entertained, and they're well fed and cared for. You can tell this place genuinely prioritizes making it a warm, comfortable space for the cats while they wait for their forever home. It's not a shelter -- it feels like a home. The staff made the whole adoption experience seamless. Jude especially was incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable -- exactly the kind of person you want guiding you through the process. The rest of the team matched that same energy, and it made everything feel easy and stress-free from start to finish. My girlfriend and I couldn't be happier -- we found our girl Pinky, and she's already stolen our hearts. 10 out of 10, would recommend this café to anyone thinking about adopting. Don't hesitate, just go.

However the staff are some of the most wonderful people and absolutely cares for their flurry friends without question. The cats are given full access to the whole space, they own the place and we are just guests. Most of them are absolutely comfortable with people walking around so you can tell they are definitely well treated. They do have a coffee bar that I ended up getting a black. Coffee is decent, but you didn't come here for the coffee. You came to spend time with flurry friends. Prices are very reasonable as well. You can't go wrong if you just want a couple hours away from the busy day and be accompanied by some very friendly cats! If you are looking to adopt a cat they do work with KittenRescue so you are in wonderful hands. The process is smooth, quick, and just overall a very pleasant experience.
