He also was sweet enough to bring our daughter a blanket to make her comfy. It gets a little chilli outside on the patio so they offer nice, warm blankets. By far the best service I have ever had! I didn't take photos of everything, but we loved every dish we had. We ordered the mushroom plate as an appetizer, definitely an acquired taste. If you're not a mushroom person, I don't suggest it lol. We also had the octopus plate to share, and it was amazing!!!! Jiyan explained how it is prepared and he had us at, "it's not chewy," because who knew octopus wasn't supposed to be chewy lmao! The oysters were our favorite, you can never go wrong with some raw, clean oysters! The pasta and branzino were so perfectly prepared as well. We had checked into the hotel kinda late, so decided just to eat here instead of leaving to find something else for dinner. We got seated immediately but it was right next to the hostess stand.. which felt like the lobby of the restaurant. Honestly felt like the reject zone. Especially when the pictures in Yelp of the interior looked so nice and had a great view. We had no view. The server asked if we wanted sparkling or still water, I got sparkling and he got still. Turns out they were $8 each.. had I known that, I prob would have gotten an actual drink. The bread was complimentary and that was great, especially since our toddler loved the sun dried tomato tapenade. He also got the kids Mac and cheese, I got lobster risotto, & husband got the seafood orecchiette. Mac and cheese was just average, risotto was a little salty and a bit undercooked. Seafood orecchiette was tasty but nothing I'd crave again. Overall just an okay experience. When we got the check, noticed a 20% service charge and wasn't that happy about it since we only had 3 people, the food was just alright, and we had to sit in the weird lobby-like area of the restaurant. The positives: The staff was genuinely friendly, the decor was lovely, and the food was relatively good. There's a foundation here worth building on. That said, as locals, we likely won't be returning -- and that's a shame, because it is in a nice location. The valet experience was a bit of a stumble right out of the gate -- my boyfriend was directed to navigate between two tight rows of parked cars with no guidance and wasn't given a valet ticket. He had to go back and ask for one. For a resort charging resort prices, that's not a great welcome. The restaurant was also under construction during our visit, which blocked all views of the ocean and pool -- the very thing that typically justifies resort-level pricing. No adjustment was made for this. Then came the bill. A bagel with salmon and a coffee came to $40 before anything extra. Add an automatic 20% gratuity (applied without disclosure to a party of two), $10 for parking, and what started as a simple breakfast crept up to nearly $70. We weren't given a choice about the gratuity -- at that point it's not a tip, it's a mandatory dining fee. Just call it what it is. Has everyone forgotten that gratuity is supposed to be a choice -- based on customer service and satisfaction? Apparently some have. When we brought it up on the way out, the woman at the front mentioned that auto-gratuity is now "the norm" and that tipped workers make below minimum wage. We're in California, where that's actually not legally permitted. Offering misinformation as justification for a policy that removes the customer's choice isn't a great look. We've dined at fancier hotels in the area and have never encountered a surprise mandatory gratuity. The restaurant was also nearly empty during our visit, with mostly hotel guests. If this restaurant wants to attract locals rather than just captive hotel guests, reconsidering these pricing and gratuity practices would be a genuine step in the right direction. What could have been a lovely morning out left a bad taste -- and not from the food. read more

DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE! We were not told, unlike other reviewers, about the current renovations. We booked a "harbor view" table. We turned up to the restaurant, to see that they are currently seating diners in a rotunda with frosted windows. You can't see out! There currently is no ocean view. We booked for the perfect time to catch our last sunset before our vacation ended. We were told to try their outdoor lounge. No sunset view. And, easily the worst singer/entertainer I've ever heard providing music. Embarrassing. So, we left and couldn't find another ocean view spot available anywhere. Ruined our last night. I would never go back, even after renos are done. Very poor communication. And, we paid $15 for 10 minutes of parking! read more

Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful property. The views are amazing. This is a restaurant attached to the Marriott. You can find street parking along the road leading up to the restaurant or you can also choose self parking or valet at the hotel. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. We were greeted by the hostess and seated right away. Our server was lovely and was informative of the menu. Their dirty martinis are my favorite! They're probably the best I've had! The seafood pasta dish was so delicious. Our kids enjoyed their butter pasta and burger and fries from the kids menu. The burger was not kids size so we had leftovers to take with us a for a little snack. They also loved the bread and butter. Pricey yes. Ambiance and flavor was worth it for us. Ambiance is one of the best if not the best in Orange County. The Food and service somehow surpass the amazing Ocean view. Last month, I enjoyed breakfast and dinner al fresco here while staying at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa. The first night at the hotel, I enjoyed an amazing dinner of clams in a savory broth that came with delicious crostini for dipping. I also had a refreshing grapefruit cocktail and an equally refreshing salad that was composed of frisée and topped with slices of grapefruit. I was given a complimentary extra large bottled spring water to take home. My waiter was super attentive to me and very sweet. The next morning I enjoyed a fresh omelette with crispy potatoes, orange juice and the most amazing lemon ricotta pancakes, the ambiance of the restaurant is hip and modern and boasts a beautiful view the ocean. read more

FABULOUS! My wife and I had the privilege of dinning here on New Year's Eve and wow what a dinning experience! You walk down the stairs and are met with a beautiful fish tank, this was a great start and truly beautiful to look at. The menu was a fixed menu 5 courses and a total surprise, each plate was big enough to fill us and just a culinary journey! We kept saying the closest dinning we've had to omakase where each bite is totally different, the wagyu tartar with caviar, the salad (dressing out of this world), ravioli that had so many unique flavors, each bite was just incredible. The wait staff was attentive and quick but also slowed down our courses as we are fast eaters. I had a cocktail that was also incredible and included a banana. I was shocked that on a Sunday evening in the middle of summer that my wife and I were the only customers. Beautiful view, perfect weather, and nobody there! I'm figuring maybe because people think it's the restaurant in a corporate Marriott that the food sucks. But it didn't. First of all, the servers, Jett and Jack, were very cool. They were out of the local draft brew I wanted but had a good Karl Strauss IPA as a substitute. We split a Caesar's salad (good but not incredible). I had a seafood pasta oriechetta (or something like that -- I know it's misspelled) that was incredible. 10/10. Wife had a very good grilled lamb chop.
