Here are some thots: -We beat the dinner crowd, so the place was mostly empty, but... the service was excellent! -My daughter ordered a Moscow mule and I ordered a farm lemonade. If you are looking for a fantastic non-alcoholic drink, this one is a winner ! -We got a Caesar salad to share and it was fresh and good. We also ordered the beef tallow fries. "Finca" means farm or country estate, so I came expecting a true farm-to-table experience. Unfortunately, this finca seems to have misplaced a little of the farm. The location in River Street Marketplace is a winner. The western-inspired ambiance is warm, inviting, and makes it an easy place to relax with friends. San Juan Capistrano has no shortage of great dining options, though, and that's where Finca struggles to keep pace. The wedge salad missed the mark. It wasn't served cold enough, and the dill-heavy dressing created a funky flavor that overwhelmed what should have been a simple, crisp starter. The blistered green beans were another disappointment. Instead of tender with a nice char, they were undercooked with an unpleasant crunch, and the accompanying sauce was forgettable. The bright spot was the smash burger. It leaned a little on the greasy side, but it was flavorful, satisfying, and easily the best thing we ordered. Overall, three stars feels about right. Finca has the setting, the vibe, and the potential. Now it just needs the food to live up to the promise behind its name. read more

From start to finish, we were given amazing service and quality food/drinks (including virgin cocktails)! We left feeling fully satisfied and would come back more often if we didn't live so far away. We had two young toddlers with us, so we were grateful for our gracious server who was patient and well-mannered. He explained the menu to us seamlessly and made sure we had everything we needed. First question before being seated I asked if they can accommodate food allergies, and they responded that they are very accommodating! The concept is getting farm to table and fresh ingredients! For what we ordered: Beef tallow fries 4/5, they were good but can use a little bit of seasoning/salt. The dipping sauces were good. Great ambiance in the middle of a mall inside Dana Point! We came on a busier weekend and despite having reservations - staff was at their limits and grateful for their efficiency. We tried the artichoke blossoms, tallow fries, and their burgers. The American style burger I had was a bit too slop ish with the burger getting stuck on the roof of my mouth bc too much cheese and bread texture - but overall the meat was excellent just that particular burger layering was off. Made a reservation at 5:30 and smooth process to get there. FOOD: one of our favorite parts is the clean and farm to table quality that we appreciated. Carrots had a nice sauce with a hint of spice. The zucchini blossoms I've never had and was delicious with great fillings! Hanger steak was $47 for not much meat but it was good, not sure if it was worth it for the amount. Really enjoyed Finca located at river street market in SJC. You are captivated as you walk in by their smoked bbq. We had lunch on the patio which was very nice it was a sunny day but there was plenty of shaded tables. My friend and I shared a tri tip sandwich which was plenty. The French Fries were very good and came free with the hamburger during Happy Hour. The Finca Burger was nothing special in my opinion. I would try a different dish in the future. The slow roasted butternut squash was very good. The total bill came to $79.74 without a tip. It was somewhat pricey in my mind. Where to even start, this place is the real deal, absolutely lovely and authentic. They work with small regenerative farms to better the land and their food is incredible. The menu is delicious and well thought out and they have an open concept kitchen where you can watch the chefs grilling over an open wood fire flame. The drinks are beautiful and the staff is kind and always recommending what's currently popular. So good. We went down for a late lunch at Finca. We were perusing the menu before we decided to eat. The manager came up and gave us insight as to how they did things ie: cooking over wood fire, fresh farm to table etc. He claimed the burgers were the best. The price was on the higher end. But we had to see...... and he was right. We split a Caesar salad and got the Hawaiian burger and the steak sandwich. The Burger was amazing, the pulled pork on top of the burger patty was perfection. The grilled pineapple was thick and juicy and perfectly grilled. The steak sandwich was good, but to compare it to the burger would be silly, it couldn't compare. I'd come back and try another burger and the fries (must order separately as sides don't come with the burgers) The salad was great because you could just taste the freshness. The restaurant is clean and the decor is right on brand. Only negative I have is we each ordered a Diet Coke, they came in individual bottles that were tiny. If I'm going to drink soda I'd usually like the option of a refill. But I'd recommend Finca to anyone asking where to get a good burger. read more
