Chopped bbq chicken salad
Leanne D.

Always like to meet up with friends here to catch up on our lives and travel. Today I decided to order something different instead of my " go to" salad. I ordered the tuna salad and avocado sandwich on squaw bread and a side salad. I liked how they filled it with lots of tuna salad and sprouts. The big down side for me was the bread, it was so stale it fell apart after taking a bite. What makes a great sandwich is the bread quality and unfortunately the bread missed the mark. Maybe if they toasted the bread, since it was not fresh, the sandwich would have held together a little better. Sadly, because of the stale bread this was a miss for me. Sorry, I didn't take any photos since I didn't have my phone with me.

We took family here who were visiting from the East Coast. They loved it. We all enjoyed our meals and although it had been a while since we visited, I'm keeping this place in mind for another weekend brunch or lunch. Simple, delicious food with a great atmosphere and harbor view! I had the fish tacos and they were pretty good.

Solid brunch spot at the Dana Point Harbor. We came here on a Saturday morning 10am), and had a party of 6. There was a wait, but we were able to get seated in less than 10 minutes. The staff was extremely kind, food was solid, portions were good size, and overall pretty good bang for your buck. Would come back again!

Classic diner food, quick service, and views of the harbor. Most dine in their enclosed, covered patio where big windows frame the bobbing boats and glinting water. Every so often, you might see the Catalina Express boat or stand-up paddle boarders passing by. The vibe is easygoing and familiar. THE FOOD. - Chili Cheese Omelette. Homemade chili with chunks of tender vegetables and melted pepper jack cheese. Really good! THE DRUNK DRINKS. - Bloody Mary. Earthy tomato, spicy flavors, and seasonings to jump start your day. Garnish includes a pickle spear, green olive, and lime wedge. THE PARKING. If you get there early, free parking spots are usually open near the restaurant. There's also a new parking structure if you can't find something closer. THE RETURN. Been here several times already and not only do they have a solid breakfast menu, the views of Dana Point harbor elevates the dining experience.

Had the lunch menu as the breakfast menu ends at noon. I ordered a Bloody Mary and the Steak Burrito. Both were excellent and I ended up taking half the burrito home. Service was quick and the wait wasn't bad as we had a party of 5. The restaurant is located in Dana Point Harbor therefore there were a lot of boats moving all around. The decor is based on the Sea and boats. Lovely place, check it out.

5/26/2025 Went for a lovely stroll along the harbor and ended up at Proud Mary's for breakfast. We were greeted by the owner who was doing his dog barking impersonating and he was quite good. Sounded like a small retriever. We were seated at a nice table for two. Valerie was our amazing server and was attentive and kind. The other helpers were all efficient and friendly as well. My wife had the vegetable omelet and I had the chili omelet. Both dishes were great. The coffee and OJ was good as well. This place is popular with an upbeat ambiance and terrific location. Highly recommended.

Proud Mary's Restaurant in Dana Point is a beloved local staple known for its stunning waterfront views of the harbor and its high-energy, casual diner atmosphere. It specializes in hearty American comfort food with Mexican influences and is a prime destination for a relaxed breakfast or lunch right on the water.

Got curious on how to get to Catalina Island on my day off and chose to check out Dana Point to catch the Catalina express. I wanted to find out how to catch a ride without online reservation and where to park. I happened to ask the bartender where I could physically get tickets. He was very helpful and clearly gave me directions and found it. Got hungry later and tried their tacos and it didn't disappoint. There was a list of spiked coffee. It would've if my friend was with me. I'll definitely be back.

If you are looking for a classic breakfast, this is where you will find it! The Fishermans combo truly hit the spot for me. The service was efficient and friendly. The modest interior is perfect as it leaves plenty of room for the outside views. There are many windows which allow for an outdoorsy feel while staying sheltered from the bay breeze.

Really nice restaurant fast service lots of seating. I love their close patio with great views of the harbor and glass that closes out completely with space heaters which keep you nice and toasty on the cold mornings. The food potions were quite large and more than enough .

Chili omelette was delicious!

Best location, best service, delicious high quality food, and outstanding service from every employee working there. It was packed inside but the efficiency and chill vibe combined was something to be admired by anyone who has worked in the service industry. This place is doing everything right.

Do they serve pancakes or gf waffles? Is the patio dog friendly?

It made things feel easy and thoughtful without us having to figure it out ourselves. The sirloin was definitely a standout--really well seasoned, flavorful, and served with pesto and potatoes. We also got fries for the table and those disappeared quickly. The bread options (olive bread and sourdough with either olive butter or regular) were a great start too. I tried the French onion burger and while the meat was super tender and clearly good quality, I wasn't a fan of how sweet the onions were--they were very caramelized and kind of took over the flavor for me. The Greek salad we shared was good, just a bit more tomato-heavy than I expected. Drinks were great and everything came out smoothly. Overall, a really pleasant experience with some standout dishes. The birthday dessert at the end was a thoughtful touch!

We tried Parmesan crusted chicken, grilled asparagus, the caramelized smash burger, filet mignon, Caesar salad and the butter cake during our stay/ everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The views are amazing sit outside, so you can watch the sun go down. The only dish we would really love to see back on the menu is the sea bass- best we have had and so flavorful.

Not only was I thankful that my friend treated me to a beautiful and delicious lunch, but also I'm just so grateful for the views, service and overall good vibes. Hunter was our server and was incredible. He was helpful and attentive. As far as the food, we started with the soft pretzel and unfortunately it wasn't that soft. It actually seemed a little stale. However, the rest of our meal was 10/10! I got the chicken club, while my friend got the pastrami. Both sandwiches were so delicious and bursting with flavor! I also love that they have zero proof options on the menu. That's always a plus for me. Hunter ended the meal with a complimentary birthday treat and WOW...the chocolate cake was a small slice of pure bliss. I highly recommend it! Lastly, they even have complimentary valet. I will be coming back to Club 19 very soon to try more of the menu!

Food "was" delicious. Pricey, but you're at the Waldorf Astoria... Then I get home. And I had projectile (redacted) all evening from the time I got home, until about 11pm. I couldn't even hold down water. I was so dehydrated, I would chuck water + liquid IV, and 30 minutes later, I would be praying to the porcelain god. In all my years of life, I don't think this has ever happened (minus infant-hood) I abruptly woke up by (redacted) myself in bed. TMI, I know, but I just need to get across the severity of this stomach bug. The only other thing I ate this day was a bag of sour cream and onion chips my friend got on the course with his hotdog. So that leaves this. I know this is not common here, but I had to be honest with my experience. Other people got burgers and they were fine, so it's hard to pinpoint what exactly it was. I did have a side of Mayo. So maybe? It's now Monday night and my fever has dropped from 101.8 to 99.1. Overall it's hard to say I would ever come back considering the price to food... But they did have a nice view!

I've had two separate experiences at Raya this year, and both were unacceptable -- which is…read moredisappointing because the rest of the property has consistently been excellent. Kahani, the club lounge, and the Marketplace all delivered exactly what you expect from a hotel at this level: attentive, well-trained staff, seamless service, and a clear understanding of hospitality standards. That's why I've never focused on smaller issues before -- they didn't outweigh the overall quality of the stay. Unfortunately, Raya has now been the exception twice. The first time, back in January, the food quality wasn't on point-I ordered the blackened tuna tacos and they were completely inedible. I didn't complain or send them back -- I simply left it at that. Today was service from one particular server Taylor. I had just come down from the club lounge and remembered that I had a complimentary voucher given at check-in, which didn't specify what it covered on it. I first asked at the lobby bar and no one was able to provide a clear answer, so I went next door to Raya and asked again before ordering. The hostess told me I could choose anything and even recommended the skirt steak. She was kind and friendly. Taylor took my order, and I reasonably assumed there had been communication between staff. So I spent some time ordering and waiting and when my food arrived since I asked for a to go order, I grabbed the bag, tipped, and left. Then Taylor ran after me at the hotel entrance asking how I planned to pay -- in front of other guests. It was an extremely uncomfortable and bizarre situation. I didn't realize what has happened I was just handed the bill and I put my room number and name down. I was then told the voucher only covered guacamole, which directly contradicted what I had been told prior to ordering. As a result, I wasted approximately 40 minutes of my time, I was simply trying to head to the beach before departing, and instead found myself dealing with a situation that should have been handled internally and discreetly. When I handed the food back and said I did not want it, the response was "ok, I'll toss it," followed by no acknowledgment, no apology, and no effort to resolve the situation. At this point, this is no longer an isolated incident. For a restaurant positioned as fine dining, the lack of internal communication, consistency, and basic guest handling is surprising -- especially when every other outlet on the property demonstrates a significantly higher standard. Raya was the only part of the experience that felt misaligned with the rest of the hotel -- and unfortunately, it's the last impression I'm leaving with.
