I am a regular customer at Meow Tea and have always enjoyed visiting for drinks. However, I had a disappointing experience today. I understand that policies are important, but customers cannot follow rules they are not aware of, and the way they are communicated matters. I visited with my toddler and planned to spend some time in the cat area before purchasing our drinks, as drinks are not allowed inside the lounge. Before we reached the entrance, a staff member called out loudly, "Excuse me! Excuse me!" from behind the counter, drawing attention from others. She explained that customers must either purchase a drink or make a $5 donation before entering. I explained that we planned to buy drinks afterward, but she insisted payment had to be made first. I accepted this and purchased a drink. Afterward, she asked me to provide proof of my receipt or text confirmation before allowing entry. Once that was confirmed, she informed me that because two people--the toddler and I--were entering, I would need to purchase two drinks instead of one. While I respect the business's policies, the way they were presented felt unwelcoming and overly rigid. The repeated requirements made what should have been an enjoyable visit feel frustrating. As a returning customer, I left feeling discouraged and decided not to enter the cat area. I hope management will consider reviewing both the policy and the way it is communicated. I liked how I could pick my sweetness level and type of milk. I came because I daughter wanted to pet the cats. 1 drink 1 entry. Check in at the register at the pet store. My daughter is 5 and I didn't want her to go in alone but honestly I'm not getting another sugary drink to go in. The whole experience isnt very welcoming and I don't really to care to go back. Drinks were good, brown sugar boba was a bit soft. The attached store had a good variety of snacks, treats, and food for dogs and cats. My main problem is with the cat "cafe" itself. I'm no cat expert, but I am a cat owner and I have been to a decent amount of cat cafes. In all the cat cafes I have been to, the number of people allowed in the room at once has been monitored and limited to make sure the cats dont get overstimulated. Here, anyone could come in at any time. I came around 2-3pm on a Saturday and the room was pretty crowded. There were also no double doors to prevent cats from escaping, and a small black cat tried escaping when I tried entering. From what I could see, I counted about 12-15 cats in a small room with only two litter boxes. There seemed to be no hiding spaces for cats to get away from people when overstimulated. There were also no behavior rules, such as for monitoring young children or no picking up cats. From my first visit, I can't help but feel like the cats' quality of life isn't a priority here. They would do well to set strict care protocols and to limit the number of people in the adoption area at any given time. I think this is just a rebranding/reskinning of the original Miko's Boba. Most of the drinks and the menu are the same. Sometimes there's deals, just take a look at their social media. Generally, there's some form of BOGO whenever they do the adoption events on Sundays at the connected Miko's Pet Supplies. There's some taller seats where you can take a gander over and watch the kitties and some tables inside and out if you want to sit and study or do some work. You can always order for pick up. With Miko's Boba and this location too, I think my main issue is how sweet the drinks are even at 0% sugar. We got their Halloween grape slushy drink with popping boba and even after mixing it at the lowest level of sweetness, it was like drinking semi-diluted jam. So keep this in mind if you don't have a sweet tooth. To interact with cats, you have to go over to the pet supplies side. Overall, you're more there for the experience than anything. read more

I really, really enjoyed my visit to Meow Tea. The Boba is tasty, but the best part is that your purchase will allow you to play with KITTIES! I am the mother of four beautiful felines and can't get enough. I love that folks (who can't have a kitty) have this option to play with the little ones. I walk in, I'm greeted by this man and as I'm looking over the menu he says, take your time I'll help you if you need anything or have any questions. It just felt so warm in there. I ended up ordering the taro slush. Soooo amazing. The flavors popped! My son loved it too and he's never had boba but I snuck in a little sip (don't tell dad). Let me just say, having a good boba spot in your area is top tier and this has definitely made it on the list of best boba spots in the city of West Covina. Note: they don't make it obvious but you have to sign a waiver AND they are really rude about demanding a $5 donation to interact with a cat or you have to buy a drink. Beware they will count the number of drinks and make sure it matches the number of people. Not a huge deal but be prepared to get crap from the staff if you don't do this immediately. What does suck though is they make you buy a drink if you even think about touching a cat and then tell you you can't take your drink in with you (which is understandable since there are cats around). But making customers buy product that they then can't have was pointless and really unfair. Here's a suggestion (allow people to buy their drinks and hang out with the animals, then allow them the option of getting their order before they set out). Nice concept for a business just really poor execution and service. Not worth the visit IMO, pick up drinks elsewhere and go visit a shelter. While the drinks were delicious and the staff were super friendly, I was a little upset with the customers and their behavior towards the kittens. I saw a bunch of people picking them up while they were asleep, putting their phones super close to their faces, and some were playing super roughly with them. There was even one customer that scruffed a kitten, and while they are younger cats it was still heartbreaking to see that they were treating these animals as if they were toys or their own personal pets. I firmly believe and highly encourage that there should be a no picking up cats policy for this place, as I've seen other cat sanctuaries do this and it establishes a respectful boundary for the cats. I love the concept of donating via drinks and the pet store, but these animals deserve a lot better treatment than what I witnessed today.
