Definitely one of those places to try for the immersive experience and not the food. Some background on maid cafes would have been helpful as well, especially with the chants / various interactions they have you do with them and more. We went for an early-ish lunch, so the options were much more limited compared to dinner. One of our friends has gone for dinner before, and that was much livelier with a much MUCH better menu option. I did take this into consideration as otherwise lunch review for a Sunday would be closer to 3 stars. From outside the cafe to inside, everything was really cute. They have a mascot, which is shown outside and in as well. Enter, and there's a wall of merch you can see and buy. There was another door in that room that takes you to the main dining area, but before it opens, they tell you a lil chant with movements to do. Pretty cool! We were then seated and given our menus. There are combinations which included a photo with a maid. We ended up getting 2 food combos (meal, drink, photo), a dessert combo (dessert, drink, photo), and a drink combo (drink, photo) to all share. The menu had a lot of options, but the food wasn't actually available (darn, was looking forward to some maid drawn omu-rice!), as it was lunch and that was a separate menu. Some items from that were unavailable, so we were super limited with what we could order re food. We ended up trying the following - Miso Salmon - lol, not great. The sides / veggies were better IMO, but they were really small portions. Chicken Teriyaki - the other 3 thought it was pretty good, and I thought it was just mid. Lack of flavor, but chicken texture was decent. Matcha Parfait Dessert Thingy - forgot the actual name of it, but it was pretty! Our maid drew on this which made it special. Taste-wise was fine. Various Drinks - I got a cold brew with tiramisu foam, and that was quite enjoyable. She drew a dog on the foam. Cute! A friend got the coffee with sea salt foam and she requested a fish be drawn. The best LOL. Another got their magic lemonade which was pretty cool! The mixing and such was fun to watch. My daughter got the oreo oat milk drink and she requested a cat to be drawn. Our maid was really nice and explained things extremely well. For the photos, she helped us with standard poses and we all left with a lil polaroid with our experience. Many of the clientele when we were there were solo male, which was what we saw in Tokyo as well. Some groups too. There were a lot of similarities with this maid cafe and the ones we visited in Tokyo, and some differences do include quality of the frequent visitor card (actual plastic card in Tokyo versus paper card here) and the photo came in a frame booklet thingy in Tokyo compared to just the photo here. Would come back for dinner to check that out though!
Such a fun experience regardless. Though I heard dinner time is more fun since there will be more "Maids". Came here for lunch and our Maid was so sweet and kind. She explained everything and even gave out food recommendations. The hospitality here is great. The ambiance is clean, bright and exceptionally friendly. Because the Maids take such good care of you, this can be a solo date. You won't feel alone. You can order drinks, food and desserts. Some of them even come in packages so you can basically get a whole combo. Some of the drinks are interactive where you get to cast a fun "spell". For extra pricing, you can request for a fun silly dance and even take Polaroid photos that you can take home for a keepsake. Overall, very fun and entertaining meal. I got the tuna melt and it was heavenly! Only thing I didn't care for was the veggies as they were welted since it was a hot sandwich. Other than that, very good flavors!

You come here for the experience, not the food so make sure you lean into the vibes--otherwise, it's just not that fun. The cups and decor is minimal but cute. I liked the plates and the star cups, though the star cups are very impractical to drink out of without a straw. Honestly, the food is much too overpriced for the quality. The katsu rice was dry and tasted too instant for me. The maid service leaves much to be desired as you really just say their magic spell before you eat to make sure it is delicious. It was cute but that was the most interactive experience you get. You can take chekis (photo) with the maid which are pretty reasonably priced, but they can only accommodate (when we asked) a party of 5 in one large photo.
Asayoru is my favorite socal maid cafe and I've been to a few similarly themed maid pop ups and permanent cafes both in the LA area and in Japan and Asayoru definitely lives up to service you receive abroad. Staffing, food and outfits are where Asayoru excels. For a kitschy themed café the food is pretty decent and the parfaits are delicious. The maids are kind and entertaining, vibes are good. The only thing I would hope they improve on is decor, which is a little plain and the chairs are uncomfortable. The desk like tables, lack of sunlight and the bright overhead lighting makes you feel like you're in the waiting room of urgent care. Parking is free and there's a large lot connected to the building.
Overall amazing I recently went on wednesday and their theme for the night was devil day!! The maids where dressed according to the themed night.. They also had a themed menu but you can still order some of their regular food items. Overall service was superb the maids are also so nice and easy to talk too. Their service is why I come to this place, a fun place to just relax after work or just hanging out with friends or family. I also love how they decorated your cheki even sometimes in front of you while having a nice conversation with you .
Wrote one of my most thoughtful and long reviews of Asayoru Maid Cafe, one in which I felt I addressed the decor and ambiance of the establishment, its food, and most importantly the gimmick service at play here, one of "maids" that serve food and take pictures with their patron "masters." I tried to imbue my review with a sociological commentary of the restaurant and the activity I witnessed and Yelp removed the review despite it getting many likes!?! Personally, I think someone from the management, owners, waitresses and/or devoted customers complained to get Yelp to take it down, so here is my leaner and less specific review in its place... Let it be known that an actual cosplay loving and anime devotee brought me here and that, while Asayoru was intended for people like her, the majority of patrons at lunch were men of a certain ADULT age and they were regular patrons fawning over their favorite maid-waitresses serving them expensive but subpar food, the quality of which can be found at most any 7-11 for a third of the price. (** The maid waitresses themselves apologized for the food in advance and explained the menu was being retooled so we should positively come again soon to experience the new one!) We had a traditional Japanese egg sandwich that was anything but proper and right as the ones I've had both in Japan and in restaurants about LA use the characteristically soft style milk bread and this was served in a stiff ciabatta roll that seemed old. It also lacked the characteristic flavors and seasoning of Japanese egg sandos. Our tropical drinks were fine enough, but nothing to merit their price either and the kitty kat sundae my date had was tasty enough but less so than anything procured at Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors Ice Cream Parlors. It was just cuter. Really what one comes to Asayoru for is the show, for lack of a better term. The performance by the nicely costumed and enthusiastic maids that take your orders, make you engage in chanting with them, and ultimately try to sell you "chekis," really just Polaroids with them that they mark up after they've been developed. It seems like it was designed for a younger audience, certainly not me, a man in his 50s, but the whole experience made me feel taken for the fool somewhat... and I really felt conflicted about a man in his early 30s I met at the restaurant who boasted that it was his 115 th time there, what with the thousands and thousands of dollars he must have spent on photos, merchandise, exclusive memberships they push, and the like. Asayoru played out in a manner that invoked Chippendale's or Hooters, sans nudity of course, and it really just was not my cup of tea.
We got the deluxe food combo with the oden udon, Santa parfait, and s'mores latte. It was cute and I got to chat with the maid about gatcha games and more. I got serviced by a nonbinary maid and they understood how I wanted be addressed in a nonbinary way. The ambiance was fun. I've never gotten to go to a maid cafe before this.
I mostly come here for the cute performances and the parfaits. The food is meh. Maids are always sweet and funny.
Come for the Maids, not for the food. Every Maid served to perfection and made our experience so fun. We ordered the deluxe combo which came with drink, entree and dessert and a discount on the pics. The entree food was luke warm, but the desserts and drinks were good. Overall a super fun experience.
Amazing vibes! Had so much fun there and especially felt welcomed with our maid tomo and maid nyann and maid soul and the I love our service and especially the performance that we got to see with maid tomo and maid nyan. The food there was amazing as we'll definitely recommend the katsu chicken and the drinks too were amazing!!
You don't need to travel to Japan to go to the closest and cutest maid cafe, you just have to take a trip to Monterey Park My sisters took me for my birthday and it's an experience that's stayed with me, I can't wait to take my daughter for hers! The egg salad sando I had was in the simple side, but the drinks and desserts were so delicious and absolutely adorable! The service is unlike any other, Maid Poyo took incredible care of us and made sure we had a sweet and memorable time. There are different entertainment options you can choose from, you will never be bored in this setting, only delighted! Check out ASAYORU Maid Cafe and I can't wait to go back next month!

HAPPY 3,000th REVIEW! In honor of this milestone (like I did for the last 1k), I HAVE to give an updated review on MY FAV BUSINESS & 2023 YELP SERVICES BEST FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF WINNER, ASAYORU MAID CAFE!!! 2 years have passed since my last update, & they just keep getting better. Check my 1st review & last update if you want to see how far they've come. They finally had their grand opening this year, & from soft open to grand opening, the location has evolved once again! From start to finish, the attention to MOE detail & decor is to die for. Since this is an updated review, I'm focusing on the big & new, so feverishly points below LOOK AT MY OLD REVIEWS IF YOU WANT BASIC MAID CAFE & ASAYORU REVIEWING!! The events they host are SO, SO FUN & unique. Some are ticketed, while others are special shifts reserved through Yelp. The theming is always fantastic, whether it's a maid birthday, costume event (office day, shrine maiden, flight stewardess, etc.), or Maid with Love event, where a maid chooses a special menu for that day. These are GREAT! Where else can you have lomo saltado, nasi padang, & super-caffeinated drinks prepared 4 different ways at a maid cafe??? I also LOVE the events featuring guests & talents, including overseas idols & V-tubers. I normally wouldn't listen to this genre or become a fan, but I've discovered so many groups & artists simply because I attended an event or collab at Asayoru on a whim. I'm grateful they've expanded my horizons further into otaku culture (every day I become less of a normie & more powerful, thank you). They also have seasonal limited menus, plus menus exclusive to Asa morning & Yoru evening shifts. I'm not a morning person, but I NEED to level up & attend Asa shifts for the morning food, relaxing atmosphere, & Asa chekis with the maids. (The long, elegant maid dresses are TO DIE FOR.) This part is for the people who actually read this far & are okay with my denpa schizotypical ravings (I know like 1 GUY WHO READS THEM). This isn't for everybody. But if it isn't for you, can you really say you're enjoying life? What are you doing besides being a surface-level NPC? But I digress. All the maids are incredibly nice & fun. Getting to know them is one of the best parts, & if you're cool enough, you'll eventually have a favorite (oshi). THAT'S when the cafe gets SUPER fun!! The maids have image colors, so you can get pen lights, order an oshi float in their color, buy merch, cheki, bromides, etc. to support your oshi. You can take pictures of your chekis (Polaroids) or merch with your food or during outside adventures & tag them. It's SO fun! Asayoru is also a great window into oshikatsu culture. If you haven't experienced the true & pure love of having an oshi, visiting Asayoru is a MUST! Your life will change for the better! Trust! Which SEGWAYS into the merchandise. CHECK IT OUT IN THE LOBBY! Almost all (like 95%) is designed & produced by the maids themselves. Acrylic stands, keychains, stickers, buttons, bromides (THE PHOTOS ARE AMAZING), apparel, bags, towels, & much more! Instead of supporting a K-pop idol who will never know you exist, support an Asayoru maid! (JK, don't crucify me.) LEADING ME TO MY NEXT POINT: Asayoru also hosts Hyperstellar, a maid showcase modeled after Japanese idol taiban shows. The maids perform solo or in groups, sometimes with themes or fun costumes, alongside idol groups. It's a great intro to idol culture or simply a fun concert experience. Afterwards, there's buppan, with cheki Polaroids & meet-and-greets. You can also attend Milkyway Marketplace at Atlantic Times Square, hosted by Asayoru. There's an Itasha showcase, participating plaza businesses, anime-themed artists & vendors, a stamp rally, & an outdoor stage with performances all day. Also, to everyone who goes here after I recommend Asayoru at my panel or elsewhere & then malds at waiting (or at me specifically in your review): open a mobage, read a VN, talk to your friends, or SOMETHING. The maids are working hard & doing their best. I wrote this before & want to reiterate it: Asayoru Maid Cafe is truly a passion project & manifestation of the love, effort, & dreams of all the maids & staff involved. I will always love Asayoru Maid Cafe. Came here for my birthday back at the end of May with a group of 5 around 7pm. It was such a fun experience, and I would love to go back again in the future. We all got the combo with the food, drink, dessert and the cheki with our chosen maid. I did not have much expectations for the food, but the food was actually surprisingly good!! The maid were very attentive, and our maid, Moon, drew the cutest characters for us on the omelettes and drinks! read more

I love Asayoru Maid Cafe! This is my second time visiting, but my first time at their new home on N Atlantic Blvd. It was a little confusing finding this place at first because Google Maps kept directing me to their old location. However, I received an email from them to redirect us. I attended the Azure Lane collab event. The cafe was decorated so nicely and I loved the bunny costumes. I honestly don't play Azur Lane, but I'm a bunny girl for life. The themed food looked great and the taste was alright. My pasta tasted a bit bland. Although, it was fun having the maids decorate my plate. I also added a picture of my friend's burger because our maid was so funny when he asked her to draw a meme. I love the drinks, but I really just come here for the entertainment. If you want your food to be extra tasty then just make sure to cast the magical spell, "moe moe kyuuuuun"!!! The maids are very hospitable and fun. (Shoutout to Latte and Riri!) The head maid was an excellent hostess for the event. I really enjoyed the dances and interactive aspect. I've been to Asayoru Maid Cafe a couple of times, and I really enjoy the ambiance and welcoming atmosphere. It can be a little intimidating to visit a maid cafe at first since there's a specific process for ordering and receiving food and services, but the maids are very sweet and take the time to explain everything to newcomers. Parking is easy--there's free parking available in the plaza's parking structure. The hours are straightforward: Asa (morning) runs from 11am-3pm, which feels like a cozy lunchtime vibe, and Yoru (night) runs from 5pm-9pm, more like a dinner hangout. Each time slot has its own unique vibe and menu, but the same cute and thoughtful service. Personally, I like coming in the morning because it feels more like a traditional cafe, complete with cute background music. I can even bring my laptop to work or a notebook to journal. The maids are super friendly--even when I don't know what to say, they're always kind and welcoming. At night you can see the maids sing and dance, and sometimes they even have amazing collabs! The food is typical cafe entrees, but I recently had their caprese sandwich and it was delicious! Of course, the main highlight is really the service and ambiance. Me and bf talked about dining at a maid cafe for shits and giggles. Bf is a normie and I am a weeb. We've heard about Asayoru being at Barcadia initially before relocating in MPK at the Atlantic Time Square plaza. We didn't really know what to expect since it was our first time ever giving this place a go. The experience is superrrrr kawaii! Staff are always in character and really fun to interact with. They draw cute little things on your food and tailor it to your experience. Sae, Poyo, and Latte were there for the day. Ended up getting a cheki with Latte since we interacted with her the most. While the food didn't wow me, the overall experience and hospitality is super fun. I got a mango green tea with star jellies and surprisingly it wasn't too sweet. Latte gave us some lore about Kon and their maid mascot Milky. Everything is so brightly lit and nicely decorated! There's additional things you can order like games or requesting for a performance. There were even people studying and have their favs they interact with the most. You can defo tell who the regs are lol. This is a really unique experience to try and sgv is blessed to have a gem like Asayoru. They really do know their demographic and their niche. Came here on a Thursday night with my girlfriend (who loves Japanese culture) , and was greeted by a very nice maid! Then we were taken inside, which seemed like a hybrid of a cafe/school table setting. Since me and my girlfriend were hungry, we decided to get the food combo, which comes with a drink, entree, soup or salad, and a Polaroid photo with a maid. I got the karage, and honestly, it was just ok. I have had way better karage elsewhere. Nothing special about the miso soup too, but it was good on a cold day (hard to screw up miso soup though). I think if I were to come back, I would just get their dessert combo after having a meal elsewhere. However, I would say the main attraction here is the service from the maids, and probably the best service I have ever gotten. They were very friendly to me and my girlfriend, and they were very interactive. Their energy was very bubbly for sure. I also loved the Polaroids that they took with me and my girlfriend. Overall, I think the maid cafe was a fun experience. Their food is very average, but the maid's service was phenomenal. So that comes out to be a 4 star experience for me. read more

Really cute place! My girl friend and I came here for lunch this past week and service was excellent! We got to try their new bento boxes, which were delicious. Also loved their magical drinks that came with a cute skit. I believe they serve high tea here too so definitely looking forward to coming back here for their high tea! read more

Kind of a late review, especially given that they're moving locations soon, but I wanted to get this in before that - on Maid Day! Anyways, they are the real GOATs of the US maid cafe world (which is admittedly not that large, but whatever). As a background, I am not a maid cafe expert or lover. They're kind of cool and okay, but it'd probably not be the kind of thing I go out of my way to attend except for maybe a rare special occasion. That being said, I end up going to Asayoru A LOT because my gf drags me here. So in a sense, I wonder if I can provide the semi-normie point of view. The performances are really high energy and impressive. All of the maids seem like they've mastered a few performances (dancing, singing, etc.) They're definitely really really good dancers and singers, which is super impressive because they're in pretty complicated costumes with relatively complicated shoes. The reason you come to these places is I assume mostly the performances, and they're really good! My favorite performance was actually one maid, I think her name was Maid Dollie, who was able to randomly do a heavy metal performance very well (let the bodies hit the floor). This actually brings me to my next point - is that I think a lot of the performances, maid themes, etc. are all very unique and individualized to the person in question. I think helps a lot in a world where there's not that many maid cafes. I've visited a few when I used to live in Japan and I think Asayoru is basically comparable quality, but they also seem to have far more diverse themes, costumes, personalities, appearances, talents, performances, etc. So that's really cool and nice - and a huge reason why people like this place, I think. That being said, they also have unique themed events and they are are very nice as well. I've been to Christmas and my favorite is Aswoleyoru, where most of the maids are based muscular dudes they find somewhere (only real chads can wear the maid dress.) I got to be princess carried by Maid Walker (a Texas Ranger themed maid). Very nice. One fair warning though - there appear to be some people who are REALLY into this place. Like real mega superfans. And if you want to get into unique events, snatch unique merchandise, etc. etc., prepare to struggle and fight for your life. My only downside I that I hope when they move to the next location, they have some zero-sugar drink options. All the drinks they have are very cute, but too sugary for me. Happy Maid Day! read more

The food was fine, only small bites were available at our visit (probably understaffed at the time) so theres not to much to judge on and my group enjoyed our drinks and dessert, they even draw little designs on the dessert! The service here was really good, we went for our friends birthday and they gave us a little scoop of icecream. Our maid Saiki was really fun and nice! The performances and services were a little pricy but thats to be expected for a themed based cafe where the focus is on the maids. Only issue that set us off is that we were a group of teenage girls + our little gay friend and the whole cafe was filled with men with questionable hairlines and of a certain well personality for most of our visit. It was clear we were not the regular audience and it made us feel a little uneasy towards later in the night. Had a wonderful time at my first maid cafe experience. It was truly eye opening since I've never been to one. Our maid, Sumi, was super attentive and friendly; did not miss a beat in making sure our group was taken care of. My favorite meal was definitely the karage chicken and the strawberry parfait tasted like pocky. It was delicious! Also, a special shoutout to RiRi for showing my boyfriend on how to make a saam (I think that's what it's called ). Everything was honestly made so cute with a personal touch.
