Cute for the experience and aesthetic. Overall the drinks were just okay. The best one we got in my opinion was the cold brew. Staff is nice and there is a little bit of seating outdoors.
We were so excited to see the Hello Kitty store in Universal Citywalk. It was a small store with few outdoor tables placed right in front of the counter windows. Some of them had shade from the umbrella but other seats were exposed to scorching sun. There was a big Hello Kitty statues in front of the store, a popular spot for people stopping taking pictures. The menu offered few small cakes, macarons, donut, cookie, pretzel and sandwiches, alongside seven drinks. We ordered the bow pretzel which came out as the shape of Hello Kitty's hair bow. It was a decent pretzel. For drinks we ordered the melody lemonade. Loved the flavor of it. The cup had pieces of strawberries too. The staff members were friendly. They prepared our order in couple of minutes. Also they graciously refilled our water multiple times upon request at the window. The prices of the items on the menu were slightly higher.
I'm not a huge Hello Kitty fan but I have friends who are so I decided to drop by this place during my casual stroll around CityWalk. Based on some of the photos I've seen of other Hello Kitty Cafes, this is probably one of the smallest and most bare bones one. No indoor seating. You order from a counter and there are a couple of tables out front. The good thing is that several of the tables had umbrellas attached that provided shade. The menu was very limited. Nothing stood out to me so I decided just to get the Strawberry Lemonade that had a hint of mint to it. It was actually quite refreshing on a hot day. The drink was pretty sweet but that is how I like my lemonades so no complaint there. The price was on par with the fact that it is a Hello Kitty branded cafe at a tourist location. All in all, the drink was decent but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop there. But at least my Hello Kitty loving friends got some photos and a kick out of me hanging out there.
It's very cute and full of Hello Kitty theme. The food and drink were average. We had a strawberry lemonade and pretzel with dipping. Pretzel was good, warm and soft. Dipping was not that good. Drink was on a sweeter side. It's an outdoor cafe. Only 3-4 small tables with umbrellas. Staff were friendly and nice. You could ask for water at the pickup window. Good to try it once.
3-3.5 This is "ok" with a smile. If you like Hello Kitty and cute sweet drinks, 100% come here! The desserts are as sweet as they aesthetically look. Their drink menu ranges from lemonades, fruity drinks, matcha lattes and coffee drinks. Now, as a coffee lover, woooo.... it's really on the sweet side. I usually get stronger lattes that are not that sweet in the Irvine location but this location, it is leaning on dessert drink side. I had the special Pompurrin sea salt cold brew and I was buzzing off the sugar. There is a Sanrio store next door so the merchandise will not be in the counter. The counter is soley for food and drink so you wouldn't have to buy it from the counter like you do in the Irvine location. Recap: you get what you see which is all the cuteness and the sweet treats. This location does not have the tea lounge experience and it is more of an order-and-pickup situation.
Not worth the hype. Overpriced and not even good or memorable. A tourist trap for IG pictures. I instantly wanted my money back. They don't make accommodations or substitutions. Coffee was waaaaaaay too sweet. Pretzel was mediocre. The most decent thing was the sugar cookie but even that wasn't worth the price.
THE WEAKEST KITTY CAFE IN CA! My Mom is a massive Sanrio fan so we avidly visit multiple locations across multiple states. We've been to almost all of them in SoCal being locals and we've agreed that this is the most disappointing location. CityWalk's Kitty Cafe's drinks are lazy, I'd say they're uninspired. I would only recommend the lemonade, as it was fresh and sweet. As for the other drinks, it was like adding shaved ice flavoring and dumping into it into a cup of ice water. Next, you sell it for a high price. The desserts are DRY! The only saving grace for the small cake we tried was the frosting. We disposed of the rest, such a shame! Our cashier was also quite confused and condescending. I did not like his vibe, it's not cute being a passive aggressive person. I seriously hope this location works out the kinks. I found the location had cute bistro tables, there's potential here. However, they need to fix their cafeteria-looking shopfront. Note: Character meet-n-greets are available on select days. Also, a Sanrio store can be found next door.
My 5th Hello Kitty cafe visit, I had gone to the one in Irvine, Santa Clara, and 2 smaller ones in Vegas. This one had the best tasting food. I knocked off a star because I had to pay $40 for parking so that added to the cost just to get to the cafe. I got the turkey avocado sandwich and that was tasty and large. I also bought the birthday cake which was round shaped rather than square like Santa Clara's. This one tasted fresh and moist. I also got the hello Kitty sugar cookie which was pre wrapped in plastic. It was soft and moist unlike the Vegas cafe ones which were hard as a rock because they weren't wrapped in plastic. I also got the Kuromi lavender tea which wasn't too sweet but pleasant instead. The shop next door had universal themed hello Kitty and friends souvenirs. I bought a few things but not a lot because they were pricey.
We were walking through Universal Citywalk and decided to stop by for some quick refreshments. Got the My Melody Lemonade, and it was super sweet. If I get it again next time, I would ask for less sugar if possible. The kids got the Hello Kitty cookie and it was soft, moist, and not overly sweet. The cookie was very nicely decorated. Even on a busy Saturday afternoon, we got our order within 2 minutes after placing our order with the server, very efficient!
For all you Hello Kitty lovers, parking will cost you $40 just to get to this place, BUT there are absolutely NO lines in this cafe OR the giftshop. In fact the girl in our group felt like she had the whole place to herself, because she totally did. There were only a couple of people outside eating, other than that the place is yours! The one girl who was working there seemed friendly and answered our friends questions. They have cheap Hello Kitty alcoholic drinks for $10. They all had some berry or fruit flavor added it to and came in a plastic cup with a character silhouette on it. She liked her drink and felt that the character macaroons were cute and okay. She said the macaroons didn't taste fresh though.
Really cute little outdoor cafe. I didn't expect it to be this small, so be forewarned it is tiny. But the themed drinks are very cute and there are a few adorable desserts too. I got the seasonal berry black tea and it was phenomenal! Gimmicky and cute. The store attached was also super cute with lots of sanrio merch!
After a fun day at Universal Studios Hollywood my wife and I went try out the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe in City walk. We are very very curious about the Hello Kitty Cafe it have become very popular around the world bring the world of Hell Kitty and delicious pastrys and other items they serve at the cafe. We look at menu display they delicious pastrys and drinks we notice they a special it's a hot chocolate and berry & cream churro for $13 we decided to get it and try it out. Right away we notice lots of people were coming to the Cafe to see what going on and try the pastrys. We order the special combo and see the hype about it. The Cafe look very cute everything in pink the traditional color of Hello Kitty. They call my number then I pick our special combo it looks so cute my wife say with little pink bow tie on the churro covering with sugar I impressed but how it taste. We took bite it was good but it needed little more flavor in the churro and berry and cream was ok but we enjoy it. My wife was told me is the Hello Kitty and Cafe worth I say yes depends if you are a Hello Kitty fan but a friend of mine tell me over in Japan Hello Kitty Cafe is better over there more stuff and different other items in Japan.
First I want to start off by saying how cute this cafe is , it is very clean and the service was great. The staff were very helpful and great at recommending drinks. The refreshers were yummy and fresh! Perfect for the hot weather and the desserts were both yummy! 10/10 would come back !
The Hello Kitty And Friends Café is pretty much what you would expect a tourist-y cafe would be like at one of the most popular LA attractions, Universal City Walk. I came here with my two friends because we love Hello Kitty and wanted to check it out! I've been to multiple of their locations before, so I had an idea of what to expect - however, if you don't, then here is a run down. It's located in Universal City Walk, which means Universal Studios parking (with validation from AMC) and neighbors Hot Topic, Ben n Jerry's, and a few other fun shops. A lot of tourists are typically on City Walk, as well as people on their way to and from Universal Studios. There tends to be a lot of people no matter the day (for the most part). The cafe doesn't have an inside - so no indoor seating, but they have a small outdoor area that is slightly gated off with some chairs and tables for the cafe specifically. If they're packed, though, most people sit on the wall on the side, or try to find seating somewhere else, although it's nearly impossible. Universal City Walk has a restroom, but Hello Kitty And Friends Cafe does not. Additionally, their menu is pretty limited. This cafe is really a niche spot for people to take their photos and get an Instagram worthy treat. Out of all the food treats, there are no dairy-free and/or gluten-free items. The items they did have featured a mini slice of chocolate cake, a birthday cake, macaroons, and a couple more items. All of the food is premade and comes from a bag, so don't expect anything super amazing. They did have good drinks, though. We got two different types of drinks, my friend and I both getting the same one, being an electric blue lemonade. The drinks were tasty and we'd definitely at least get those again! If you like or even LOVE Hello Kitty, then this location could be worth checking out! If you're willing to make a day out of it at Universal City Walk, or even Universal Studios, then it can be a fun addition! I wouldn't center your entire day around here, as it is a pretty fast grab-and-go style place with no indoor seating, but some seating right in front. The aesthetic for the store's front at least is super cute. Gluten-free and/or dairy-free? Be cautious and just get a drink from them. If you've never been to any of the Hello Kitty And Friends Cafes, then definitely go to this one if the opportunity arises! Otherwise, it's good, but not my favorite location of theirs - slightly smaller, quicker, and limited compared to their other locations. read more
Perfect for Hello Kitty lovers, however they opened almost an hour late which was a little challenging when bringing a toddler with a short attention span. The drinks and food were okay, just expensive for what you get. Their lemonade was nice however no adjustments were allowed (unideal for limiting sugar for kids). Also their specialty dessert for the season was not available despite coming at opening, which was disappointing. read more
We definitely had such a great experience at the Hello Kitty and Friends Café! The service was amazing, and we were the first ones in line, which made the experience even more special. You really can't beat how incredibly cute all the food is! Everything was almost too adorable to eat. After enjoying the café, we went next door to shop for souvenirs and picked up some T-shirts to remember the visit. This was our fifth Hello Kitty and Friends Café experience, so I'm especially excited that we can officially check the Universal location off our list! SO CUTE! If you're a fellow lover of Hello Kitty and Friends, this little patio cafe is a fun stop. My strawberry mint lemonade was as refreshing as it was adorable on this unusually hot Los Angeles day. Each member of my group got a different pastry so we could experience them all. Favorite by far was the cute little white cake with strawberry filling and red candy bows. The others had a filling of apples and spices and were also delicious. Service was quick and friendly. The cuteness and attention to detail gave me so much joy. I'm sure the alcoholic drinks would have given even more joy but that will be saved for next time. Sanrio store right next door! Go. Have yourself an adorable time. read more

really wanted to love the Hello Kitty Cafe at Universal CityWalk because I'm a huge Hello Kitty fan. My coffee was good, and the drinks are super cute. We ordered a second drink and specifically asked for light ice, but it came completely full of ice. When we politely mentioned it, we were told "oh sorry, can't remake it, maybe next time," which was pretty disappointing. For the price of these drinks, I expected a little more care and better customer service. I love the Hello Kitty brand and the aesthetic, but unfortunately the service didn't match the experience I was hoping for. Big fan of Hello Kitty , not so much the service here. read more

I think I mixed up my reviews. I put the cafe review on the store review, and it looks like I'm putting the store review in the cafe section. Oooops! It doesn't matter; they are connected to each other, and they are a duo, so it is an experience to do both. If you come to the cafe, make sure to check out the store next door; it is cute and full of so much Hello Kitty stuff. It is on the small side but is full of Hello Kitty, everyone, and is a Hello Kitty fan's best wish come to life. You will find it all in there; I saw stuff I had never seen, and since I normally shop Hello Kitty because one of my best friends loves Hello Kitty, I buy merchandise of that pretty often. This place makes it easier to buy stuff now, including rare items. Definitely worth checking both of these locations out at the same time. read more
Finally visited this location after Universal Studios. Smaller than the Irvine and Vegas location, but still super cute. I got the Hello Kitty Strawberry Milk Tea, this comes with strawberry popping boba, whipped topping, and pink sprinkles for $9. My brother got the Chococat Frozen Mocha, it's frozen coffee that comes with chocolate popping boba, whipped cream, and chocolate sprinkles for $10. Service was quick and friendly. Love the presentation of the drinks. My go to is usually the strawberry lemonade, so tasty and refreshing. I was disappointed with the Hello Kitty strawberry milk tea, it lacked flavor, even my brothers and nephews did not like it. I took a few more sips and ended up throwing it out. The Chococat frozen mocha was very delicious, I would have ordered that instead. Would definitely recommend ordering this one. They also have a Sanrio shop next door, lots of fun merchandise. I would go back only if I'm visiting Universal CityWalk again. read more

October 30, 2025 | Universal City | While 5 friends & I were walking around Universal City Walk, I decided upon The Hello Kitty Cafe! What a cute place! Plus, I've wanted to try the cafe for quite some time, but the line is usually too long! Aesthetics | The dessert looks so pretty, super cute! Very pink & Hello Kitty is adorable! Fun!! Macaron Set $26 | A variety of yummy sounding flavors: Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, and pistachio! I had to try it, as well as had fun sharing with friends! Our own little taste testing session! Hahaha! I enjoyed the raspberry, strawberry & chocolate flavors! I wasn't into the other flavors! Normally, I love pistachio, but wasn't into it. As to $26 for the macarons, it's a no. Overall | The Hello Kitty aesthetics are on point, super cute! I may return to try the cake decorated as a gift, because it's the cutest! I don't think I've ever been so stressed to make an order until this very day, A lot of the holiday items were sold out which was surprising because it was still early in the night. They didn't update the TV with what was sold out and she kept quickly trying to tell me what was sold out INSTEAD of what was available so it was so stressful. I was able to try out this hello Kitty and friends Café with my niece she is obsessed with hello Kitty so this was a nice surprise right next to this. There is a hello Kitty store as well which is super cute and adorable. The café itself has so many different drink options that come in the cutest little cup with a hello Kitty face the drink themselves taste delicious. I got one for my niece and she absolutely loved it. Staff is super friendly service was super quick and I just loved the theme of everything Pink. It was an incredible experience. We also were able to come on a day that was not too busy, but there is a roped off section as it could get very packed. read more

Pretty in pink, outdoor service for drinks, treats, and souvenirs. Only two customers ahead of us when we joined the line, and no one was waiting when my daughter and I were being helped. Ordered my daughter's beloved boxed macarons and decided against choosing a drink for myself due to the obligated polite, yet blank stare, counter service conversation. Might return at daughter's request and for the Sanrio nostalgia. read more

I'm not sure if it was just my experience, but this cake was practically inedible... I couldn't even finish it. Don't be fooled by how it looks, the taste was extremely disappointing. To make matters worse, there was visible dust on top, which makes me question how well these cakes are being stored. I definitely won't be ordering this again. As a lover of Sanrio and all things pink, I give the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe a 5 for ambience, decor, and overall cuteness! Service I've received has been pleasant, nothing really noteworthy as you just place your order at the register and wait to pick up your items. The food and drinks themselves though are honestly disappointing as everything is tooth-rottingly sweet. Besides the novelty and appeal of Hello Kitty and Friends, I'm not sure that I would actually order anything here to enjoy, but they do make for cute pictures. I have had some drinks and pastries at other locations that were definitely more edible, so I hope some of those might come to Citywalk at some point. Still, if you're a Hello Kitty fan, I would say it's worth a visit as there is also a little shop right next door with Sanrio merchandise and the overall vibe is cute and sweet. read more

More kiosk than cafe, but the food was good! This place is mostly sweet drinks and desserts. No real cafe food like sandwiches and salads. There's outdoor seating only, and you order at the counter. We got the macaron set, a matcha latte, lemonade, and the strawberry cake. The macarons were pretty good. I hate it when macarons are dried and crunchy, and these were nice and soft with a tiny bit of chew. The cake was also moist and tasty. There was a lot of frosting, but it was a rich white chocolate ganache, which was tastier to me than the typical fluffy frosting. Everything was pretty sweet, so it is probably better to share. read more

Unfortunately, there wasn't much I enjoyed here beyond just for the photo. The café feels very much just aesthetics rather than flavor--most items are extremely sweet and seem more made for pictures than for actually eating. So sad to give it a bad review. I got the hello kitty cake and turkey avocado sandwich. The cake was okay but the sandwich was beyond old. I cannot believe they are serving this kind of food to customers. It was very dead on a weekday around 5pm. Probably won't come back read more
This place is SOOOO cute! If you're a hello kitty fan and are going to Universal Studios you need to stop by this cafe! It's located right before the entrance of Universal on the city walk, and there is also a hello kitty merch store right next to the cafe. I got the hello kitty drink, and it was good but very sweet. read more
I've been wanting to try this place since I heard it opened! It's just the kind of cute to bring a smile to your face! Now are the treats going to change the culinary world? No, but drinking from the cute cups and eating the cute snacks is just the kind of pleasant to make you smile in a stressed out world. My kiddo and I ordered one strawberry-lemonade and one chocolate cake. The strawberry- lemonade was a tad sugary but still enjoyable and the chocolate cake came in a box that was inside a cute to-go bag which I'm keeping because of the cute graphics. We took the cake home and kind of forgot about it. We ate it two days later and I was surprised to find it was still yum. I do suggest you eat it a bit sooner for the best taste but alas it was good if you forgot like we did. Will the items change your life, no but sometimes just doing things for the fun of it is cool too. Not everything has to be a life changing treat. I would return and try another treat. If you're coming to the Hello Kitty Cafe at Universal CityWalk for the aesthetic, you might enjoy it. But if you're expecting actual flavor, save your money. As an ube aficionado, I was excited to try the Kuromi Mousse Dome. It's supposed to an ube mousse over white chocolate ganache with a chocolate sponge center. What I got was something that tasted NOTHING like ube -- not even a hint of it. The ganache had the texture of chalk, and the whole thing was just sad. I also ordered a seasonal strawberry soda with foam -- sounded fun, but it was just watery and bland. Others in my group got the Bow Bombs (hot chocolate bombs), which were decent, but nothing special. Kind of what you'd expect from a grocery store mix. We were all underwhelmed. The treats are cute for Instagram, but clearly, taste is an afterthought here. My advice? Snap a few photos of the cafe. & then leave. read more
This location is on the city walk before you enter the park so I always grab a drink and bite after my day at the park since I don't think they would let u bring it into the park. Around 8:30 pm I ordered the hello kitty lemonade ($8) and churro($9 very overpriced). They give you a buzzer and it is a fast turnaround time! Their seating is only outdoors. They do not give lids for the drinks which is extremely inconvenient and the churro they hand deliver so u have to hold it and eat it immediately. They both were extremely sweet and delicious and the churro had strawberry filling. I love the pink theme and overall was such a cute and sweet experience read more

Does this place need reservation or can just come by as needed?
No reservation needed. There is no indoor seating. It is a little outdoor seating area. You order your drinks or deserts at the register, and then you pick it up and can take it anywhere to eat. It really is very small.
