I went to universal studios because I had a preview for the ride fast and furious which allows you to go on this new ride once. I've been to universal studios plenty of times but always missed going to this place. It is a wonderful place to frequent if you have the time and have a season pass like I did. The food ordered were the 1-up green mushroom hot pocket vegetarian. It actually tastes like this hot pocket microwaveable pizzas you would otherwise get at the grocery store. But, the design, look and uniqueness of the food was delicious looking. I also ordered a pretzel with three sauces. This item was their best deal for a snack as it was about $10 and with the discounted season pass about $8 or so. It was cheaper than the mushrooms and drinks here. Also less fattening and less unnatural ingredients. I thought service was average and to be fair, isn't a pleasant job. The ambiance is cute and nice to look at. Great interior and exterior design throughout. The overall appeal and decoration were spectacular more or less. Good meal to have to keep you from getting lightheaded in this heat. For some reason, always crowded with tourists and locals. The lines even on a Friday morning were ridiculous. However, the lines even for this place was sort of okay. I rate the following below: 1-up mushroom 3/5, it was a unique looking hot pocket more or less Pretzel with dipping sauce 4/5, better value better taste simple and came with three decent sauces to overcome this bland taste by itself of a pretzel. There wasn't even salt on the pretzel. It was bready, but the sauces were great. Good comeback to bland. I would come back just to get the pretzel for its value and the three sauces that make up for the blandness the pretzel had anyway. They ran out of the Super mushroom calzone item so we picked up a Fire Flower Pretzel and a Super Mushroom fizz drink. The pretzel was really good and came with 3 dips, mustard, nacho and a white cheese dip. I was so hungry and forgot to take a photo but it was well worth it. The white cheese dip was my fav. A nice quick service spot on the upper lot of Universal studios Hollywood! Overall, I can't complain. There's a small menu offering a handful of snacks & specialty beverages. My best friend and I sampled the 1-Up Mushroom Calzone, it was too cute! It was also tasty, filled with cheese, mushrooms, bell pepper and spinach, an amazing vegetarian option. We also tried out the Galaxy Popcorn which was flavored like different types of fruits, it nice to take pics of & definitely fun, but a bit on the sweeter side so we didn't end up finishing it. Went here on Monday and Saturday and had an ok experience. The first time I came (Monday), I go the Super Star Fizz and it was good but it was just overpriced Sprite with an eatable bath bomb so just buy a regular Sprite and save your money because it was $13. Then the next time I came, I got the 1-Up Calzone and it mediocre. The service was pretty good and the inside was clean. If you're looking for a Nintendo-themed snack or drink, the Power Up Cafe is where you can grab quick eats like popcorn, calzones, soft pretzels and their fizz drinks (sodas). Their bestseller appeared to be the drinks which are basically lemon-lime sodas with fruity boba and a dissolvable flavor enhancer tablet ("power-up"). We tried both the Super Mushroom Fizz (Strawberry) and the Fire Flower Fizz (Mango Habanero). In the 90-degree heat, these are refreshing and the power-up adds an element of fun, but the price of $13 for what is essentially just a soda is extremely steep. We also tried their calzones on one occasion for a substantial snack. I ordered the SUPER MUSHROOM CALZONE ($13) which didn't actually contain any mushrooms whatsoever. Normally, the exterior of a classic calzone is golden pizza dough, but this one was very bready, reminding me of a steamed bao. The interior was filled with a mix of sausage, pepperoni bits and red sauce. Mozzarella cheese made up the white circles of the mushroom design. Flavor-wise, it tasted more like sausage than anything, and I sadly found it a little on the dry side. A couple people in my group got the 1-UP MUSHROOM CALZONE ($13) which had spinach, green pepper, mushroom and pesto inside. This was a good veggie option as it contained a generous amount of spinach. Over two days, we visited twice and the cafe was never super busy. Orders are prepared quickly, so it's a good place to go if you're looking for something fast. While I admit the prices are very high for what you receive, it was worth the one-time spend for the novelty and nostalgia. 3.75 stars. read more

Cute little Cafe where you can Mobile Order ahead & pick up inside or wait in line & order inside. There aren't any tables or chairs in the Cafe. There were only a couple of tables out near the front. Where we were at, there weren't any chairs either. It was standing only. We didn't order any food. Just ordered drinks. The Drinks were super cute, especially w/ the Cute Power Ups. I had the Fire Flower Fizz which came w/ a Mango Habanero Fire Flower Power Up. Looked cute, but I prolly wouldn't order that one again. If I did, I'd do without the Power Up. The drink tasted okay, it basically tastes like a Sprite. Except it's a $13 Sprite with orange popping pearls lols. It honestly tasted better without putting in the Fire Flower Power Up... Also, I didn't care for all the glitter in my drink either... It was a struggle to sip the popping boba pearls! With the anticipation of Nintendo land opening up, I was equally excited to try the food options that the other themed restaurants had to offer. I'm a big fan when to comes to calzone and anything related to pesto. Right at restaurant opening, there was already a line right outside but it moved rather quickly. The menu was straight forward. Had the Mario Calzone and Super Star Fizz. Mario Calzone: Appearance wise, reminds me of the melted character popsicles from ice cream trucks. Can make out what it is but the eyes and mouth were melted. Taste wise was mediocre. The dyed bread was thick and the filling wasn't truly a cheesy pizza filling but a mushy stuffing that tastes like pizza. Overall, was underwhelming. Super Star Fizz: Sprite with a sugar filled, lemon flavored sparkly star "bath bomb." Tasty and the drink sparkled! (But what in the world am I ingesting). Even with the popping mango pearls, it wasn't overly sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed it. However at $13 a pop, for what essentially is just Sprite, will make me reconsider and spend it on something else. I tried this during the soft opening week just before the official opening a few days later. This cafe is located on the upper lot near the Universal Box Office. It's a tiny cafe, and although the lines are out the door, it moves quickly. There aren't too many items on the menu, mainly themed snacks and drinks. You can also purchase collectible drink sippers. For snacks, we ordered: - Super Mushroom Calzone - this was delicious but was very bready--a high-carb snack. It was a fun shape but was just ok overall. - Fire Flower Pretzel - This was a dense pretzel; there was no salt, and the flavor was bland. The dipping sauces helped a little. Just a little. The drink I tried was the Super Mushroom Fizz, which is a strawberry-flavored Sprite drink. It comes with a fizzy mushroom you drop in and stir to release more flavor and color. The power-up mushroom was a little gimmicky and added a little fun to the drink. The popping pearls also add a fun texture element. I wouldn't mind grabbing a drink again here or trying out the other calzone or the popcorn next time I visit, but I would pass on the pretzel. The staff gave good service and were quick in processing everyone's order. The theme inside is also cute, with a window to see the freshly baked calzones. Didn't expect to see this place open already!! We dropped by today to pick up our Jaws pass member magnet and was surprised to see it open. Love that they're expanding Nintendo more in the park!! It's a tiny cafe meant for photos and pick up. No seating inside but they do have some stand up tables out front. We ended up getting the Super Mushroom Calzone which is absolutely delicious! So fresh and warm, it was perfect for this cold day. We also got a Fire Flower Fizz to try and it surprisingly wasn't spicy at all! Super good flavor, not usually one for fruity drinks but this was perfect. We ended up coming back later in the afternoon for a snack! Looking for a snack or drink to power you up before a long day at the theme park? Stop by this cafe! This is a new Super Mario™ themed eatery on the Upper Lot at Universal Studios. Across from Starbucks, the Animation Studio store, and the plaza tower box office. Mobile ordering is available. I came in early in the morning and there was no line, so I just went to the register. The Nintendo decor was nice. There's no indoor seating, just two tables by the window outside. But you can find somewhere else to sit nearby. They sell fizzy beverages with color changing "power ups", calzones, pretzels, popcorn, popcorn buckets (free refills the day you buy it), drink bottles ($1.50 refills day of purchase), soda, and "premium water" ($5.50!). The menu will indicate which items are vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free. I got a Super Mushroom Calzone, which was served piping hot and took a few minutes to cool down. It's a mushroom in appearance only; there are no mushrooms inside. It's just shaped like a red mushroom from the Mario video games (order the green 1-Up Mushroom Calzone if you want a pesto/spinach/mushroom filling). But it did taste like a calzone, the inside was filled with savory tomato sauce, pepperoni, and sausages. Overall the menu items are all very pricey (no surprise there), the Super Mushroom Calzone is the only one worth trying in my opinion. We were immediately greeted and directed to the counter to order, and there was no line. Employees were happily waiting to assist customers and had orders out fairly quickly. I ordered a super mushroom fizz: lemon lime soda with strawberry popping pearls and a strawberry Super Mushroom Power (pretty much a sugary glitter bomb that dissolved in the drink), and the super mushroom calzone: a red mushroom shaped calzone filled with pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. Each item was $13 but was able to use my pass holder discount. The cafe was cute, but only grab & go as there is no indoor seating available. Food and drinks were pricey, but the theming is adorable and you must try it at least once. The calzone itself was crisp dough on the outside, warm filling throughout but I did not taste or see much pepperoni. There was, however, bits of sausage in every bite and it reminded me of a pizza hot pocket. The super mushroom fizz was light and refreshing, and the popping boba was a nice addition. The strawberry super mushroom power came in a separate box (question block) and the employees instruct you to put it in the cup, mix it and let it dissolve thoroughly before drinking. It's the 1 year anniversary of Super Nintendo World and they opened up a cafe outside of the area on the upper lot. Been hearing a bit about it so in our last visit to Universal, just had to go. It's a small spot with just enough room to order and pick up your food with maybe spots at the counter for like 4 people to munch on food. Their menu is super small with calzones, a pretzel, and fizzy drinks. I came for the calzones and picked the 1 Up which is spinach pesto. Yes, it is bread heavy and that could be thinner but the filling tasted like spinach artichoke dip. There are small chunks of mushrooms in it which you can't really taste. The overall dish is simple and actually very solid. I'd much rather have this over many other dishes in the park. The service was also super quick. Food was ready for pick up right as I paid. Universal added this cafe in the park for the one year anniversary of Nintendo world. This café is not in Nintendo world. It's in the upper lot along the main drag. The menu is very limited. They have specialty drinks and calzones, pretzels and popcorn. The specialty drinks are a cute concept. I had the 1-Up Mushroom Fizz. My son had the Super Star Fizz. I didn't get pictures of the drinks because it was pouring that day and the cafe is small with no tables and limited standing room. You get a sprite basically with popping pearls at the bottom of the cup and a cute little box comes with it that has your power up inside. My power up was the cutest little green sugar mushroom. You drop it into the drink and it provides extra flavor. Mix it well because I did not mix mine well and I got gritty sugar in my straw. The popping pearls were really good and loaded with flavor. We also tried one of each of the calzones. They are loaded with food coloring. They're cute. However, they didn't taste that great to me. The meat is ground up and I wasn't crazy about the texture. not a whole lot of flavor either. My bf brought me a green mushroom calzone and a fire flower pretzel to share. The calzone tasted utterly disgusting; you could tell they used cheap chopped frozen spinach in them because when you took a bite it was stringy and tasted awful. The green pepper bits looked very desaturated and old, I couldn't even taste any of the mushroom or the pesto. The red calzone my bf bought tasted a lot better, as did the fire flower pretzel cause it had tasty dipping sauce. So I give this place a 3 out of 5.
