    Mario Burger with fries
    Adaryll B.

Came here back in March to celebrate two of my kids birthdays. My family loved the creativity of the themed food. My between my kids, they had spaghetti and burgers. They had mixed feeling about the spaghetti but loved the burgers. They absolutely loved the desserts. I was impressed with the burgers and fries myself. Sometimes theme restaurants put more effort into the visual, and not the quality of the food. This place made sure the food would worth the price. The cashiers were working so hard with the amount of people that were there. It was packed. They showed a lot of patience as we seemed to take forever with our orders. Would go again.

If you are looking for really good food with fantastic service, go elsewhere. BUT...... if you find yourself in Universal Studios CA and make it to the Super Nintendo World, make sure to make a reservation to eat at the toadstool cafe. Folks, you have the opportunity to eat the ambiance of Nintendo land. Overall, food was probably the best in the park, but that's a pretty low bar. I got the Bowser spicy meatball. It came with a puff pastry shaped like Bowser. The spicy part was the buffalo sauce you can mix into the tomato sauce. The meatball was huge, 1 lb, and it was pretty good. My kid had the spaghetti and meatball. We also got the soup that came with a take home bowl what's shaped like a power-up mushroom. Overall, a fun experience, great ambiance, okay food. Tip: if you think you are going to go, download the universal studio app and make a reservation at least a day before. By the morning of your visit, most of the good slots are gone

Took my kids to universal and wanted to try out the new dining area inside of Mario world! Reservation recommended! The restaurant itself is huge! So many seatings and it's beautiful! So whimsical I love it! The food itself was good surprisingly! We had the tomato soup in a cute mushroom bowl that we can keep! So cute.. the soup was a bit on the sour tomato side. I just ate it with the broccoli on the kids burger plate lol. My son had the toad's special chicken plate.. the chicken was a small thigh piece with some roasted potatoes with cheese and tomato slices cooked in a mushroom sauce of some sort. It was tasty! We also had the fettuccine plate which was not bad at all! We did order 1 dresser to try.. the bean pile cake .. that wasn't that good. I'll pass on that next time. Overall it was a cute experience and love that the cute mushroom bowl was a keepsake

We got there around 8:30AM and it was not busy at all. I can't have dairy, so the vegan tomato soup was great. It even came with a bowl to take home. They also provided a box to keep it in. My husband had the Luigi chicken burger and it was good as well! Every now and then, the lights dim and something happens with lots of thunder. It's a full-on toad experience!

If you think you're bad at cooking, I swear that you'll make better food than what they make at Toadstool Cafe. Literally, buy a box of dollar pasta, the cheapest tomato or alfredo sauce, and it'll taste better and cost you only a couple of bucks. Blech. The theming is fantastic, though - it does feel like you're in Toad's restaurant, complete with windows showing Toad's kitchen and an imaginary outside. The interior lighting and effects change to the virtual weather, as well. When they first opened, and on busy days, reservations sell out. I visited during a special event (which I regret wasting the stomach space and time here for), and not many people were there. Despite the lack of crowd, it took a long time for our food to come, and our food was cold for some reason. They also forgot one of our drinks, which took a while to remedy (they had the gall to suggest we wait another half an hour for it). - Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots Cold, soft, bite-sized bread that was mildly flavored with powdered parmesan. It was quite bland. The saving grace was the warm marinara. - Mario Burger It's a generic burger with bacon, mushroom, and cheese. It comes with truffle french fries, which seemed to just be generic soggy fries. You can keep the souvenir plastic mario hat pick. The moustache food coloring is kind of sus. - Fire Flower Spaghetti & Meatballs Slightly spicy from the chili flakes in the tomato sauce I assume. Overall dry, not fresh, bland, and pretty sad. It made me miss my college dorm food days. I made pasta so much better when I was a broke college student. The fire flower drawing part tasted like some raw, unbaked cracker dough. The parmesan shavings didn't even taste like anything and did not melt. - Yoshi's Smoothie (apple melon) This was an overly sweet and artificial slushy with sweet whipped cream and the same artificial apple melon syrup on top. I knew it had some level of unnatural ingredients due to the color, but it just tasted like 100% processed ingredients and sugar. At least the mint was real and cup was cute. Do the other menu items look adorable, yes, but overall the food just made my mouth and stomach very sad. The theming doesn't really make up for the bad food, and I don't know what the people rating this well are tasting, but it's definitely nonsense. I don't think we necessarily ordered the best items on the menu, but I don't think the other offerings would be too game-changing.

Toadstool Cafe was one of the highlights of our visit to Super Nintendo World. The theming is incredible from the moment you walk up to the giant mushroom entrance. Inside, the restaurant is much larger than I expected based on photos and videos. The dining rooms are spacious, and on a weekday reservations were easy to get and honestly didn't seem necessary. What impressed me most was that the food was more than just a gimmick. Everything looked great and tasted surprisingly good for a theme park restaurant. The standout was Bowsers 1lb meatball Challenge. Just as the name suggests, it's really centered around a giant one-pound meatball served on a Bowser-themed plat, but I believe this might be a seasonal menu item. The meatball was tender, flavorful, and had a spicy kick. It came with a rich tomato sauce, flaky pastry, and a side of sriracha-based hot sauce that let you heat up the dish even more. It was a fun presentation and easily the most memorable dish we ordered. For the kids, we ordered the Power-Up Burger Kids Meal, which came with a cheeseburger, fries, broccoli, corn, and a Question Block souvenir box. The Mario pick on top made it a hit. The Super Mushroom Soup was creamy and flavorful, topped with adorable mushroom crackers. It also came in a collectible Toad bowl that doubles as a souvenir, making it one of the better values on the menu if you're looking for something to take home. We also tried the Pesto Grilled Chicken Pasta, which was rich, creamy, and packed with chicken, broccoli, and mushrooms. The yoshi-themed garnish was a nice touch. For drinks, the Super Star Lemon Squash was fun, filled with fruit pieces and popping boba, but I'd skip this item. Dessert was the Mt. Beanpole Cake. It tasted good and looked great with the Super Star decoration and Mario flag, but it was much smaller than I expected. After watching several YouTube reviews beforehand, I thought it would be larger. Service was efficient despite the crowds, and the attention to detail throughout the restaurant was impressive. Between the immersive atmosphere, creative presentation, and solid food quality, Toadstool Cafe exceeded my expectations. If you're a Mario fan, it's absolutely worth visiting. Even if you're not, it's one of the better theme park dining experiences I've had.

Our family trip to Universal Studios Hollywood was primarily hyped over the visit at this very cafe! Be advised that Toadstool Cafe has a lot of buzz surrounding it, leading to long lines of patrons waiting to get in. Reservations are highly highly recommended and from what we heard, reservations don't guarantee a dining experience [depending on when you arrive]. Reservations were made about a week prior to our visit and was pretty easy. If you are flexible and do not have a schedule to abide by, that makes the process even easier. The staff will not allow you to enter PRIOR to your appointment time so coming sooner is pointless. The young gentleman mentioned the earliest he could probably get us in would be 5 mins before hand. The dining process is pretty easy but it is 100% time consuming due to visitors not knowing what to expect and unaware of what they want to order. The cafe is supposed to be a quick service kinda environment where you order at the counter, you are provided with an order number, you stand in line and wait for other staff to seat you, and then more waiting around until the food is actually delivered directly to you. My only advice is ordering anything and everything you may be wanting because getting back in line to place additional orders is really annoying. Better to have more food than not enough in my eyes. Food: *SUPER MUSHROOM SOUP *BOWSER'S FIREBALL CHALLENGE *MARIO'S BURGER *LUIGI BURGER (PESTO GRILLED CHICKEN) *YOSHI'S FETTUCINE ALFREDO The Super Mushroom Soup came in a souvenir bowl- cute but when it comes to the actual soup size portion, it was TINY. Soup was good but saltier than I would have liked. The Bowser Fireball Challenge was the best dish of the night- shocking! The large 1lb meatball was cooked well- filling, moist, and the Bowser puff pastry was delicious. The marinara sauce comes with a little kick by default but you are provided with hot sauce on the size for those who like to kick it up even more. Mario's Burger was alright- nothing worth raving about but nothing to complain about either. Nineteen bucks for a basic burger is a bit much but expected at these kinds of places. Luigi's Burger was recommended by our host and this was unfortunately the WORST purchase of our meal! The grilled chicken was dry making it so hard to get down. This $19 spent was completely wasted! Yoshi's Fettuccine Alfredo was good. My picky little monster ate this one right up. The sauce was well coated throughout the plate and the broccoli and egg shaped crisp was her favorite part. I found it to be ever-so-slightly bland but still good. 4 stars for the experience. The cafe design and attention to detail is what makes this place so darn amazing. I'm happy with the overall memories and feels this place gave but the food wasn't anything spectacular.

This was our second visit to Toadstool Cafe, and the main reason we return is because my son really enjoys eating here. Reservations are definitely the way to go -- without one, you may not get in. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time, showed our confirmation email, and were let in right away. Ordering was quick thanks to multiple cashiers. A few items were unavailable, including the salad I planned to get, but we went with burgers, spaghetti, and garlic knots. We had requested a booth when making the reservation and were seated promptly, which I appreciated. The food took a little longer this time, but everything tasted good once it arrived. The burgers were especially enjoyable, and while the spaghetti sauce could use more flavor, it was still fine overall. Toadstool Cafe is located in the lower lot of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. We parked in the ET structure, and our Gold Pass covered parking. The theming and ambiance are always fun -- my son loves the decor, and that really adds to the experience for us. Overall, it's a cute, enjoyable spot we don't mind returning to.

waaa-hooo, letsa go! If you visit Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios, you have to eat at Toadstool Cafe~ It feels like you've stepped right inside the Super Mario video game. The decor is incredibly immersive, from the mushroom-shaped booths to the digital windows that show a thunderstorm happening outside every few minutes. You can also see mushroom toad people in chefs outfits cooking your food :) The menu has a massive variety with something for everyone. They have pasta, desserts, sandwiches, burgers....We tried the Mario Burger, the Luigi Chicken Sandwich, garlic knots, & fries. Unlike a lot of theme park food, everything was super flavorful, well-seasoned, and great quality for fast-casual dining~~ Plus, at around $20 per item, it's an absolute bargain compared to most places nowadays. The restaurant is clean, the service is helpful, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Highly recommend~~~

You are 100 PERCENT going here for the aesthetics, decor, and the dining experience. Unfortunately, like most of the other food that I've tried at Universal, the quality is pretty mid and standard all the way through. Definitely make a reservation to ensure that you can speedily go in and order, grab, a seat and get your food ready ASAP so that you can enjoy the rest of your time at the theme park. You can do this through the Universal Studios app and it's pretty straightforward. There's a grace period, as with most reservations, and unlike Disney, they don't charge your card if you're a no show (at least I don't think they do). My group went during Fan Fest nights and the reservation made a faster check in than what I think usually goes on (there was a line and the restaurant was packed, but we were able to get a seat and our food in decent timing). I let the staff know that I had a reservation, was promptly instructed to go to the cashier to order, worker was super patient and friendly, got in our order, was given a buzzer, then checked in with the front of house staff to be seated at a table, food came out first and then one of our drinks that took a bit longer. Pretty seamless and they're great at accommodating their guests and making sure things run smoothly. Hands down, breathtaking experience and amazing attention to decor the entire visit. There's Chef Toad cooking in the queue, the back drop area of the cashiers was cool, and the dining room area is incredibly impressive. Each wall has panel screens showing what's going on in Mushroom Kingdom from the Toads having fun and hanging out and when the big bad swoops in and causes havoc (which I think is synced to the other screens throughout since they don't show the same scene for each one). For our visit, we got the: 1) Super Star Lemon Squash: -This is a standard honey lemon soda with mango stars and tropical boba. 2) Yoshi's Blueberry Ube Smoothie: -This is a Fan Fest limited menu item and not really a flavor I'd go for but I figure I would since it's the most unique (though thinking of it, I really should have done apple melon, but somehow it didn't click). -Very cute, comes with whipped cream on top and some flavored drizzle, a sprig of mint and it's in a Yoshi cup. -Extremely BIZARRE taste. Not sure why but it tasted like coconut (probably the ube) banana with specifically grape Nerds. Maybe it's just my taste buds. It wasn't bad, and someone at our table said it was good (another said it was gross because it was too sweet), but it's not something I would like normally so I was powering through it. 4) Super Mushroom Soup -Comes with the classic toadstool red mushroom plastic bowl and lid. They even give you a power up block to store it in and the characters you meet also use it as a point of interaction. Very cute. -I like that the soup came in it's own little aluminum container so it doesn't sauce up and stain the bowl. Very nice! -Soup has some mushroom crackers on top, resembling the red toadstool mushroom. Very cute. Decent creamy mushroom soup. Not the biggest serving but hits the spot on a chilly night. 5) Bowser's Fireball Challenge: -Heard good things about this from someone who went to the Orlando park. You can also pay an extra $10 to keep the souvenir bowl. Since it was sauced up, we asked staff and we got a completely new one in a box and in a Super Nintendo World bag. Quality customer service and glad we didn't have to wash it out. -It's a huge meatball with mozzarella cheese and mushroom marinara sauce. Bowser puff pastry on top, brings together the look and adds a bit of carbs. Definitely mix in the hot sauce and marinara together. -Simple dish, but easy to eat and the sauce went great with the fries from the Mario burger another friend ordered. And since my boyfriend was dying from the long day and the longer night ahead, he got himself a hot coffee. Standard hot black coffee but it came in a cute cup. Not the finest dining out there, but the experience alone is worth it. This is what themed dining should be like. As a consistent Disney goer, I feel like Disney tries, but it still always feels like I'm still in a theme park (even in Galaxy's Edge), so it's either the IP or the actual attention to detail and stage set that truly blew me away here. I'd come back for sure.

Pretty rad spot! Honestly was impressed with the food for the price! Was half expecting Disney prices plus but it wasn't bad at all! The whole vibe of the cafe is super dope. Service was okay. Only thing that was a major bummer was making the reservation and then waiting an additional 40mins to order and sit.

I actually really love this place! It's really cute! My boyfriend got the Mario Burger which came with some fries. The burger had mushrooms (which he gave to me (: since he's not a big mushroom person) and bacon. He liked it and thought it was a decent burger. Mine was the Mario Mini Burger Adventure set which I thought was MUCH better and absolutely worth it! It was $14.99 and the burger looked the same size as his, just didn't have the bacon and mushroom. I also got fries (no ketchup though ): )along with broccoli and corn! He was jelly of my corn :3 Inside the the ? box was a chocolate cookie coin too! Mine was totally better. I also got the lemon squash which was a nice drink. It was sweet and fizzy with a lot of jellies and popping boba in it. Kinda pricey at $9.99. For dessert, I got the ? block tiramisu. My boyfriend liked the cookies that made up the box and I liked the actual tiramisu. Not too bad for $10 I guess. Absolutely make the reservation if you go to Universal!

Toadstool Cafe is in Universal Studios and has a surprising amount of mushrooms but that should have been obvious by the name! They are very accommodating with modifiers when you order. Orders are taken when you arrive at the front counter, you pay and then someone seats your party. I was with a huge group. Made a reservation. They won't let you come early so don't try. The area it is in is very far from the park entrance so keep that in mind when planning. I ordered the short rib and it was awesome. Everyone loved their meals - even the picky ones. The specialty boba drink was great and unique. Very sweet and yummy. Would come here again in a heartbeat. For theme park food it is bomb! Like rainforest cafe they play a little clip on the "windows" of the restaurant every 15 minutes with thunder and stuff. The video is of Bowser invading and all the little toadstool dudes get scared and run away. It's very cute. The rest of the time the windows play toads just walking around being happy.

Used this cake as my kid's birthday cake. I brought my own candle into the park

Yala, what in the WORLD is the everything bagel pastry. Everything bagel seasoning and savory herbs with a savory pastry... and basically cream cheese icing in the middle. Hello. Girl. What are we doing. If it was cream cheese? Delicious. Why is it super sweet cream cheese frosting? I am a super adventurous eater and always give different flavors a chance but I cannot believe people enjoy this particular one. The spinach cheese pastry is SO good so clearly you understand how to make them well lol.

I also tried their Vanilla Latte with cream top, and wow - SO good! Their cookie selection is also fresh and delicious. My favorite was the matcha raspberry cookie - so unique and yummy! We live very close by and pass here all the time, but once I started seeing ads for it, I was…read morecurious to finally give it a try. My husband and I came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all, although almost all the pastries were already sold out, so I'm guessing the real rush is in the mornings. Overall, I personally wasn't a fan, mainly because the drinks and most of the food felt pretty underwhelming and lacked flavor. I ordered the strawberry matcha and it was honestly the most bland matcha I've had, which is surprising considering there was strawberry puree in it. It didn't taste low quality, just very muted and not something I'd order again, especially since I get matcha (and strawberry matcha) pretty often elsewhere. My husband got the pistachio latte and liked it, but mentioned it leaned a bit too sweet for his taste. For food, we tried the breakfast bagel and I genuinely can't believe how bland it was. It had all the components you'd expect, everything bagel, eggs, cheese, aioli, bacon, and more, but somehow it just fell flat. I kept wanting to add salt or some kind of sauce to bring it to life. I actually stopped eating it because it didn't feel worth it to keep going for something so flavorless. The one highlight was the spinach quiche. I really enjoyed it and would come back for that specifically, although it did feel a little pricey for what it was. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if someone else wanted to go, I wouldn't object.

The chicken pot pie is absolutely perfect, will warm you to the core, and absolutely satisfy you. The quiches all redefined quiche for me, I can't get enough of them. My favorite is the potato leek, the goat cheese blends into these flavors in a way that makes me feel like I'm Remy in that one scene of Ratatouille. I can't believe I walked by this place for 3 years before ever entering, I really wish I was familiar with their game sooner. Stepping in you're greeted by a cozy, rustic ambiance with lots of natural light and plants. Overall, this is a fantastic place to hang out with friends or work remotely for an hour or two.

Parking nearby is challenging; there's very limited metered parking on Magnolia as well as on Lankershim, but I recommend driving to the residential streets behind Republic for free street parking. I've come twice now on weekday afternoons and it's definitely a popular spot both for groups and solo diners! I've never had to wait long and service is efficient and polite! Strawberry Rhubarb Pie 5/5, unexpected hit!! This is surprisingly less sweet and more tart than anticipated and all the while sm better as a result! Blueberry Peach pie 3/5, didn't do it for me, kind of bland, overall v average Matcha latte 3.5/5, average but not bad Banana matcha latte 4/5, enjoyable, but definitely on the sweeter side Coconut matcha latte 4.5/5, this was my goldilocks just right type of drink! the coconut water adds polite hints of sweetness to the matcha which retains its traditionally bitter flavor, would def get this again!
