Wanted to try this place ever since I saw them on social media and the coffee definitely hit the spot. It was perfectly brewed, balanced, and I got the orange blossom latte with whole milk and it was phenomenal. A literal 10/10, it was somewhat sweet, it had complex flavor it was exactly what I was looking for. Would definitely come here again for the coffee and I really like the unique coffee flavors here. Now the inside is nothing special to be honest and its overall not a place I would say is good for working or studying, more for hanging out. There isn't too much seating so just be wary of that and parking was a bit annoying where I had to street park with meters, although there are plenty of spots. The service was fast and attentive and would definitely come again. I drove all the way here just to try it and left satisfied.
Yala is one of those absolute NEED to go to spots in LA. Don't let the line discourage you as you will rewarded with absolutely delish drink with unique flavors and authentic experience. You could choose to get sand brewed coffee, a cool experience of slow brew coffee in hot sand that you don't get the chance to see often. Fig vanilla matcha, yala latte with rich cardamom flavors all while on a gorgeous designed space. I landed on the yala latte, the brown sugar rim paired with cold foam was calling my name. The perfectly roasted beans turning in to a wonderfully balanced latte is a coffee miracle. As well as the vanilla fig matcha, a wonderfully balanced lightly sweetened vanilla fig flavored matcha, creamy ceremonial and balanced just how everyone enjoys it and not to forget the chai, a perfectly spiced tea that hit the spot. I can't wait to go back and try the the evil eye and other crafted items.
I arrived very excited, but unfortunately left rather disappointed. :/ Yes, yes, I know you can't trust the hype - but plenty of places in the SFV and around LA have "hype" and yet can live up to expectations. For us, Yala did not. This is a trendy Mediterranean hotspot of sorts that offers sand-warmed coffee and "Fig"-oriented coffee/matcha options, so the line sprawled well out the door. I must say that the line moves efficiently, though, but you'll want to make sure you have time to find parking, wait in line, and then wait for your order. We had the Yala Matcha and Matcha Latte, iced. Both had the cream foam that features cardamom - a first for us, and likely the last. I should have opted for pistachio or something, because neither one of us appreciated the cardamom flavor. I knew I wouldn't like the fig, so I didn't even go for it. My friend despised her drink completely, but I opted to take mine home and mix in more syrup and oat milk to salvage it. For the price, neither one of us was impressed. There are pastries available, as well. I saw a mix of savory and sweet options. The interior is cute, with seating options available inside and outside. Given the crowd, we sat for a bit and then opted to take our drinks to go. Parking was a bit difficult. I know the area well enough and was able to find us a more lowkey strip of available free parking about a block away. We won't be back, as this wasn't our cup of tea (heheh), but this is certainly a place that can please specific palates. Give it a shot and see if these flavors are a match for you.
It hurts to write this review. Maybe my expectations were set too high due to the Yala's popularity, but it was pretty disappointing. The Yala Matcha had a weird taste to it. I believe it was the cardamom. It totally overpowers the entire drink. The cold foam texture was watery. Went around 20 min after opening on a weekend, but the workers were still setting up. Since the workers were setting up, the time it took to get my drink was slow. I used to work in the service industry so I understand the pains of opening, but I feel like everything shouldve been set up by that time. Since I went early, I found metered parking, but it's probably a challenge later on in the day. Some small tables and very limited counter seating.
I arrived in a pretty untimely manner this time few mins before close and the nice girl with the brown/blonde hair had such good vibes as if they were just opening for the day! So generous and kind wish I got her name but you'll know her by her energy :) the pastries were sooo good too my favorite is the spinach and feta!
The fig and vanilla matcha was so yummy, it was not sweet and the matcha flavor was strong. I also loved the color of the matcha, so pretty. The fig flavor was not very strong, but i love their vanilla syrup. the yala latte was not bad, i love the cardamom cream top. the coffee itself was a little on the bitter side, but once the cream top was mixed in it was better. i would get the matcha instead of the coffee. but i will be back to try their yala matcha latte (cardamom cream top on a matcha latte)!
The fig matcha was delicious and strong, however I didn't pick up much on the fig or vanilla flavor. I also was curious and tried the salted honey pistachio latte. It tasted nice with a lovely ratio of milk to espresso, but again, it mostly tasted like a well sweetened latte-- nothing outstanding in my opinion.... I definitely preferred the matcha!
Parking: It is a nightmare but that's to be expected in LA. There is metered parking and some paid parking lots. Ambiance: Inside has a bare and rustic feel to it, the rugs and the beautiful embroidered piece on the motorcycle inside feel so intentional. The natural lighting was beautiful and the exterior even matched. The seating is decent compared to the size and most people just picked up their drinks and left so that was not a problem. Drinks: We ordered the yala latte and the fig and vanilla matcha. The yala latte was delicious, sweet (but not too sweet), with a strong, smooth coffee flavor. The fig and vanilla matcha was the best matcha we've ever had. Once stirred, you get the delicious jammy flavor from the fig with the slight inclusions of some seeds and light pulp. The matcha was delicious and high quality as well. Overall the drink was our perfection with the balance of all the flavors and the aesthetic dried fig on top. Service: We got there around 3:30 on a Friday and the line wasn't too long. The line moved swiftly as they took everyone's order and got the drinks turned around fairly quickly. Overall: Yala stands out for its beautifully curated space and atmosphere and genuinely tasty drinks making it worth the hassle of parking and the typical LA crowd. The ambiance feels intentional and artistic without feeling overdone or too much, and the drinks, especially the fig and vanilla matcha are thoughtfully crafted and memorable in both flavor and presentation. Yala is the type of spot where you'd come back when you want something that is not only visually pleasing but genuinely well made. They have many other interesting options that we will be sure to come back and try.
We are obsessed with the Vanilla Fig Matcha Lattes. They are the perfect consistency of sweet, yet earthy. The drinks are always crafted the same, with fresh figs. They have a really good pastry assortment as well. Their spinach pastries, as well as ham & cheese are really good. Service is always top notch and quick. Everyone has a really good attitude working here. Overall, one of the best cafes in LA.
If you're into sweet matcha drinks, this is your spot! I got the fig matcha which had a beautiful aroma and a nicely sweetened with their dried fig but was just a tad too sweet for my liking! Service was super friendly and quick! We also saw people studying here but there is limited seating!
I've been wanting to leave a review for this place for a WHILE! Their fig vanilla matcha is utterly delicious. I am not one for sweet drinks, but this one is the perfect level of sweet-but-not-too-sweet and with the distinct flavor of both fig and vanilla. I LOVE getting it with pistachio milk, and I know I'll be back for this specific drink again. My partner loved his Sand Coffee today (plain, not evil eye style). The coffee was robust with a gorgeous coffee bitterness without being acrid, a delicate but important balance to hit. Next time we'll try it Evil Eye style to see the difference!! The cappuccino was good, but the fan favorites were the Matcha and the Sand Coffee. The space itself is lovely, with a decent bit of seating and a bar with a few counter seats if you're lucky enough to get one. I don't think it's a particularly good cafe to work at, but you could try. Service was efficient and friendly. Try their pastries, too!!
My friend and I walked into YALA with no pretense and loved it. The interior is minimalist abstract and the energy is so positive. Greeted by a cool cashier and the menu was right in front of the register. I ordered the Fig & Vanilla Matcha Latte with almond milk while my friend got an Orange Blossom Oat Latte. The acoustics in this place is great as my friend and I yelled about who is buying one another's coffee drinks. As I won, we chilled in comfy tall chairs. There's a motorcycle in the cafe that I want to straddle. Our drinks were ready. They looked fabulous and tasted delightful. I had a dried fig that I gobbled up immediately. This place is great!
Love: The coffee! The Evil Eye, Yala Latte, and Orange Blossom Oat Latte are all fantastic. It's very expensive for the size, however. But I am at a genuine loss with one thing... Yala, what in the WORLD is the everything bagel pastry. Everything bagel seasoning and savory herbs with a savory pastry... and basically cream cheese icing in the middle. Hello. Girl. What are we doing. If it was cream cheese? Delicious. Why is it super sweet cream cheese frosting? I am a super adventurous eater and always give different flavors a chance but I cannot believe people enjoy this particular one. The spinach cheese pastry is SO good so clearly you understand how to make them well lol.

The coffee was alright! I got an iced mocha with oatmilk and there was an aftertaste I didn't love. My friend loved her matcha and we both enjoyed the Evil Eye drink. Paid parking on a busy street. A bit of a wait but we were able to grab some seats to hang out so that was good. It was nice and cool in there even with the door open, which is great for the horrible heat. read more

I really wanted to love Yala Coffee! The Evil Eye was definitely the standout for me--it was unique, flavorful, and actually felt like something I couldn't just get at any other coffee shop. I also think their cardamom drinks are what make this place worth trying. The Yala, on the other hand, was just okay. It tasted like a pretty standard iced latte and was way too milky for my preference, so I didn't get much coffee flavor from it. Overall, I'd come back for the Evil Eye or one of their cardamom drinks, but outside of those, nothing else really stood out to me. read more

This spot is still just as busy as ever! There always seems to be a line out front. This time I got an iced orange blossom latte. It was much better than just their standard latte. It had a really nice flavor without being overly sweet. Next time I want to try their fig matcha, it looks so pretty! read more
Plenty of street parking when I visited. Love the earthy interior. I ordered the fig Matcha and the Zaar croissant along with the ham and cheese croissant. Everything was delicious. I love that they are taking their time perfecting each drink. Also, that cold from that one on top of the fig Matcha was absolutely delicious. It is a bit on the pricier side that you get quality for your buck. The staff were very friendly as well. read more
Had been wanting to try this place for a while. Went on a Saturday morning and there was definitely a line but it went by fast and it was worth it . Tried : - Apricot espresso tonic 10/10 It was my first time trying a tonic and wow! The apricot taste really added a special touch, especially on a hot day *chefs kiss * - fig & vanilla latte 8/10 - cold brew 10/10 Also tried the little sugar cinnamon donut like pastry and it was good, love a simple tasty pastry . I normally get their regular matcha, but today I decided to try the fig matcha. It has an interesting flavor and I would recommend trying it at least once since it's one of their specialty drinks. It's definitely much sweeter than the regular matcha and a little grainy from the fig, but it's not overly sweet. It was packed on a Saturday morning with the line down the street, but service is consistently quick. It's a comfortable place for a puppy as there are other friendly dogs and patrons. read more

We stopped by Yala Coffee in Studio City and, I won't lie--the line was long. At first I debated whether it was worth the wait, but I'm glad we stuck it out because it absolutely was. The staff kept things moving efficiently and were genuinely friendly the whole time, which made a big difference. Even with the crowd, the service felt organized and welcoming--not rushed or chaotic. As for the drinks... . The matcha was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced--not too sweet, not too earthy. You can tell they actually care about quality here. Everything looked as good as it tasted too, which is always a plus. Overall, Yala definitely lives up to the hype. Long line, yes--but worth every minute. I'll be back for sure. read more
I have wanted to try this place for such a long time especially for the Fig & Vanilla Matcha Latte. And let me tell you, it did not miss. This drink was absolutely delicious and the matcha was really amazing quality. Also this place is super busy but they are actually so quick with their drink making. I was surprised how quickly our drinks came out. So the actual drink itself is like a yummy iced matcha with some fig syrup mixed in with the little crunchy fig seeds in there too. I will say some of it can settle to the bottom so you could try to mix it with your straw but I didn't mind it personally. It was a sweet treat at the end of my drink. They have a dried candied fig in the top as well. It's really light. I am not actually sure if it's a real fig or just like a candy?? But it's tasty and not like overwhelming. I would get it again. As far as vibes go, I would say that this place has a really cool aesthetic. There is a bench with some little pedestals you can set your drink on. And there are a couple of seats outside but it's not like a whole lot. It is really busy so I would say this is not a place where you would necessarily go to study or get work done. It's a good in and out place with good quality drinks. Also my friend wanted the sand hot chocolate which is super cool that the warm it with sand, but they were sadly out at 9 AM Saturday so come early for that! Parking: there is street parking that you can pay for or perhaps you could park in the adjacent shopping center a few blocks down and walk. I really enjoyed this place and I will definitely be coming back. read more
Another day, another coffee shop experience! This one is super unique and has some solid options ya. Using an ancient middle eastern method known as hot sand coffee, you get a smooth and rich coffee in a cup! I ordered their YALA LATTE: house-made cardamom creamtop and organic brown sugar syrup. Such a delight! Definitely on the sweeter side. Interior space is a bit small... I can see them moving to a bigger location in the future. read more
Fig Vanilla Matcha 5/5 - I think this is my favorite matcha combination I've ever tasted. The matcha was full-bodied and although it was a latte, it wasn't super heavy or thick, but instead super refreshing. Cardamon Creme Brulee Latte 4.5/5 - The only reason why we docked half point off here is that we didn't taste the cardamon, but other than that, this was super yummy. Coffee itself was good, cream top wasn't excessively sweet. We came on a Saturday afternoon and wait in line and for our drinks was altogether 20 minutes tops, worth the wait in my opinion read more
The fig vanilla matcha was such a surprisingly good combo! The flavors blended together perfectly. Subtly sweet, smooth, and really well-balanced. I can definitely see why it's getting so much hype because it's honestly worth it. The service was great as well -- everyone was friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is really nice and aesthetic. Love this Middle Eastern-inspired coffee shop in Studio City! I visited this spot on an early Sunday morning and the street parking wasn't bad and the line wasn't too long either. Walking-in, I loved the neat interior and the sand coffee display immediately caught my eye. Super unique. They also have some indoor and outdoor seating areas with WiFi and outlets. For drinks, I ordered their famous vanilla fig matcha with oat milk and it was pretty good. The matcha concentration was good and I enjoyed the sweet fig jam. I even liked the freeze dried fig garnish which was a nice crunchy treat. I also ordered their Zaatar Danish and that was great too. The pastry was warmed up which I liked and it was chewy, flaky, creamy, and flavorful. It paired well with the matcha. Overall, a great experience here and I would come back to try their other drinks and pastries. read more
drove from Orange County to try the vanilla bean fig Matcha latte! Was also in the area for Sushi so it was definitely worth the drive! The Matcha was excellent quality and a decent size compared to several of the other coffee cafés in the area that serve Matcha! Definitely recommend! also great service! read more
One of the most inconsistent establishments I've ever been to... The coffee itself is decent. Unfortunately, the attitude behind the counter is not. Let me explain: I ordered a cortado with a cream top. Simple enough. On my first visit, they overfilled the cup, causing the cream to spill all over the counter. This didn't seem unusual to them, judging by how quickly they produced a grimy rag to clean it up. The next trip was equally disastrous. On my next visit, I tried to avoid a repeat. I calmly explained what happened before and asked for a larger cup. The cashier agreed. When my drink was ready, it wasn't in a larger cup. Instead, it was in the same small cup, this time only partially filled. I asked if it could be topped off. Claire responded with visible annoyance and told me that wasn't possible -- "that's how the drink is made." The staff would have you believe these drinks are measured with surgical precision. In reality, it feels more like a way to justify inconsistency while charging full price. I believe that this is some kind of marketing ploy to increase perceived value without backing it up with actual worth. There are far too many decent coffee spots in the vicinity and I would rather be treated like crap while being served a good product. read more
I really wish Yala Coffee was closer to me. Their Vanilla fig matcha latte is to die for! I've only been to the Studio City location. I went on a weekday and the cafe is situated on a very busy street-busy with lots of traffic and lots of businesses all around. Street parking was hard to find but I was determined to go so I finally found metered parking. The cafe has a minimalist feel and is very beautiful . They offer olive oil from Palestine which I've wanted to try so I grabbed that. I haven't tried their coffee drinks yet but their vanilla fig matcha is divine. I love figs and this had a fig in the drink such a unique flavor and so satisfying. I'm headed to their Silverlake location next. read more
Before I tried Yala Coffee, I had learned about its popularity and some of their signature drinks. And by the long lines that I would sometimes see when passing by, I could tell that this place can get busy. While I would not wait in a lengthy queue for their drinks, I've had good experiences so far. They offer standard espresso-based drinks, matcha beverages, teas, and unique items such as their apricot espresso tonic and orange blossom oat lattes. I've only tried their Evil Eye (which combines a cardamom cream top on a cup of sand coffee with a sugared rim), and while it tastes lighter than other sand coffees I've tried, I like the combination of flavors. I finally found a parking spot!!! Let's go to Yala Simple warm, calming, minimalist and community forward this place was packed! Their ambiance is smart from function to design! Seating is around the edge and open space in the middle lined with rugs. Great music plays rounding out the LA cafe vibe. I could chill here all day. They have password protected WiFi available for customers, and a restroom only for customers. The staff are efficient proficient and still the line gets pretty long! I didn't notice any vegan food options if you come to the area on a Sunday hit up the farmers market and then come here. I ordered the coffee and a side of almond milk. Milk alternatives box checked! My order was so quick I missed the process of the sand coffee... (foreshadowing: I will be back) They are sustainability focused the cups and lids are compostable! The Sand Coffee YALA! (let's go) Before I review the coffee I need to address that I am an extreme coffee snob...it's so bad that a major chain that starts with an "S" literally makes me physically nauseous if I try to drink a coffee there. At other places I can taste a single burned bean in the mix. I cannot do large batch roasters they burn beans! Now let's proceed... When I received my order I was amused it's like a shot of espresso and an 8oz cup of almond milk...I expected the espresso shot coffee but the 8oz of almond milk was unexpected but they know what they are doing... The sand coffee on its own was smooth with mild bitterness but balanced flavors that are complex and fill the whole palate and has subtle notes of chocolate. This is a strong medium roast on the cusp of a dark roast, its meaty as in robust and satisfying. The coffee/espresso is thick and worthy of enjoying sip by sip as is! Now the side of almond milk I tried the coffee as is now lets dilute it because I don't want to be strung out LOL! I added the rest of the shot and noticed the slurry at the bottom of the cup which I mixed it yes the coffee is that thick! It was just as excellent with the milk so lattes are lit! Needless to say I'm impressed my wallet is not LOL but it's worth it! read more

It took me long enough to try Yala, and I'm so glad I finally did! The vanilla and fig matcha latte at Yala might just be my favorite matcha latte in LA!! The matcha flavor is bold and strong and exactly what I'm looking for in a matcha latte. The drink itself is beautiful, the most perfect shade of green, and the fig adds such a unique and delicious twist. I got mine less/half sweet and it was perfect. The staff were super friendly too! Street parking only, which can be a bit challenging in this area but totally worth it. Probably not the best spot to work remotely for long since it gets pretty busy, but they do have free Wi-Fi and limited seating if you want to stay for a bit. Can't wait to come back to try their coffee and pastries next time! read more

I saw someone ask about this over reviews. From what I remember, they immediately gave it to us in Togo cups. Coffee mugs weren't even an option
