They use Onyx (from what i noticed), and the sound of the milk being steamed sounded silky (-: ! I think saw they used a bottomless portafilter ? Might have mis-seen. But for those unfamiliar, bottomless doesn't divide your shots into two physical shots. so it looks like "one" shot. but it would be 2 shots if it had that attachment. Shots are dialed by weight, so your coffee will be consistent! The layout of the cafe is nice: entry/line formation moves in a counter clockwise motion. Allows customers to enter space and wait in line while leaving space for people to exit/ wait to pick up their drink. First come, first serve for pastries - expect this for freshness purposes. Drink and their components are measured for consistency and quality control. Wait is subjective in relation to volume at the time which you go. Came in at about 1:30 PM on a Sunday (today was 8/16). Curated menu for their specialty drinks that aligns with their identity. Standard menu for espresso based beverages. Great selection for their Single Origin menu. Roasters they use align with those they highlight on their shelves for retail as a multi-roaster cafe. Ordered a Columbia from Hydrangea - enjoyed thoroughly! When it was still quite hot you get the heavy aroma and flavor of the pastry notes in the coffee. Then more tea-like once it cools down more. Coldbrew in the Woodman did not feel like your typical bold-in-flavor base. Which I think works for the inclusions in the beverage. Not your typical/second wave coffee shop. Tried Lynx Coffee this past weekend and got the Magnolia with oat milk. The coffee itself was decent, and the cold foam was honestly really good, I'd give the drink itself a 3/5 on taste alone. But the price for the size just isn't worth it. It came out to $10 per drink after tax, making it one of the most expensive coffees on Ventura Boulevard. Worth noting, their matcha powder is actually sourced from Kettl. We've been to the actual Kettl cafe in East Hollywood and their matcha lattes were cheaper than what Lynx is charging here, even using the same matcha. That says a lot about the markup. You can drive down to Rok Cafe, Yala Cafe, or plenty of other cafes on the same block and get a comparable, if not better, coffee for a significantly better price. On top of that, the cup was about 90% ice, so the drink gets watered down fast, even before you're done with it. Overall just not happy with the value here. 2/5. I'm a sucker for coffee shops that make everything in house and that's what this place does. I was intrigued by their Cloud Menu. I ordered the Magnolia which is their espresso cloud drink and my husband got the Balboa which is their matcha cloud drink. The coffee was good and I enjoyed the house made Mexican vanilla cream top. Today's coffee adventure brought us to Lynx Coffee. We've been hearing for a while that they have amazing drinks, so since we started our morning early, we decided to stop by right when they opened. I ordered the praline iced coffee, and my boyfriend ordered "The Snow" a matcha topped with Mexican vanilla cream. Finally got to check out this coffee shop. I was afraid of the parking but I did find one spot on the street in the residential area but it was still packed. There is valet parking in the back alley though. We went inside and it was crowded outside and inside. I noticed it's always packed when I pass by and this time was no different. We ordered our drinks and the girl in front was nice enough to let us take our time and choose what we wanted. However, took a minute to get my drink while my friend got her matcha pretty quick hence why the picture shows her drink is almost gone lol. I almost got the praline but the girl said it's on the sweeter side and it only comes in 12oz so I got the latte instead with the Mexican vanilla 16oz which I'm sure tasted like the praline since that was has Mexican vanilla as well. Usually it's not that easy to find a good matcha spot. A lot of matchas I've had are either overly sweet or too light/too much milk. I think Lynx Coffee has it right on the nose. They offer a variety of different matcha drinks (along as coffee, etc) I tried their Kettl Himata Iced Matcha with honey and almond milk. It was so worth it. I actually asked the man at the register his opinion on what I should get as far as a matcha but not too sweet and this is what he says he usually sticks to. I unfortunately didn't get his name but he has great taste and recommended exactly what I was looking for! :) This cafe was pretty busy inside and out. The inside isn't too big but they have seating outside as well. The workers making and serving the coffee have a great flow going amongst themselves. As busy as it was they got out everyone's orders pretty quick. Shoutout to the workers for handling the rush so gracefully. This coffee queen finally made it over here and I am glad I did! There was a long line but it moved quickly. The Barista's were very friendly and helpful in explaining each drink to the customers. It was a warm & sunny day so I went with an Ice Coffee...I wasn't sure which one to get so I decided to go with the "Magnolia," after reading my fellow YE Angela's review. Glad I did because it was perfection! Strong, full bodied and flavorful! It was a little pricey but I find most "mom & pop" coffee shops are now. unfortunately this place has changed for the worse. the quality and consistency the drinks has gone down significantly in the past few months and there seems to be a discrepancy in flavor with each barista that prepares the drink. i also noticed many times that there's been a line and the owner sits by doing nothing when he could be assisting his employees and providing better customer service. there's also very little parking at this location and many cars park in the fire lane and block the crosswalk but it seems that this is encouraged by the owners as they do nothing to make sure there is accessible access around their store. it's really sad this store ownership prioritizes their image over quality and consistency. read more

Lynx Coffee is hands down my favorite coffee shop of all time! My go to drink is always the Magnolia, half sweet, and it's literally perfect every single time. I usually prefer a classic vanilla latte, so I substitute the muscovado for vanilla, and it makes it the perfect balance of not too sweet and not too strong. I also tried the Balboa and substituted the muscovado for vanilla in that one too. I'm honestly not much of a matcha drinker, but it was pretty good. I bought a very expensive bag of coffee here -- $26 for just 8 ounces of beans -- and it ended up clogging my Spinn coffee maker. The guy that sold it to me had no clue what a Spinn was and therefore didn't tell me to adjust my settings. What surprised me was that none of these guys (yes, they are all guys there which is odd) had any knowledge of the brand Spinn. When selling premium coffee at premium prices, I'd expect at least a working knowledge of the major high-end coffee makers your customers are using. When I brought the issue up, I asked if they could at least offer a complimentary coffee for the inconvenience, but they refused to do anything. Disappointing experience overall. Of course, another coffee shop I found on TikTok caught my attention, so I had to see if it lived up to the hype. I got there around 9:50 a.m there was a short line out the door (about three people), but it started getting crowded soon after. I do wish they had a menu outside since the only one is inside by the straws, lids, and register. Luckily, I already knew what I wanted: the Praline Latte and a Matcha Latte. It took a bit of time at first, but once you order, the line moves pretty quickly. The shop itself is small and can feel a little crowded, but they do have an outdoor seating area.
