First time at Bucca di Beppo and I must say I was blown away. Coming back from Universal Studios on a blazing hot day, we decided to stop by and have lunch here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First of all, the vibes and atmosphere inside were amazing! It's so cute inside and I loved the whole aesthetic of the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When we entered, the hostess was very kind and walked us upstairs where she led us to our table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The trip upstairs was nice. It was just as aesthetically pleasing and there were many pictures of celebrities that have visited the different restaurant locations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is a family style dining, so we ordered the penne alla vodka and the mozzarella garlic bread. I could not get enough of the garlic bread. It was soooo delicious. The pasta was JUST as good. I would definitely come back here for more bread and pasta, I loved every bit of this place!

We were seated right away. All the portions are large for family style dining (regular size feeds 3-4 people). We got the shrimp scampi linguine and it was pretty good. I liked the charred lemon to squeeze over the dish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This was a decent dining spot in the Universal City Walk.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I visited Buca di Beppo and, honestly, it felt a bit overhyped. Even though we had a reservation, the hosts seemed to forget about us we had to remind them multiple times before being seated. It was a busy night, so I definitely recommend making a reservation, otherwise you're looking at about a 45-minute wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Getting to our table was an experience in itself we were taken through the kitchen and up three flights of stairs, only to be seated in a corner on the third floor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately, the space felt very enclosed with poor ventilation. There were no windows, and the lack of airflow made the smells (food, body odor, etc.) really noticeable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]To make matters worse, there was a fly hovering around our table, which made the experience feel a bit unsanitary.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Another thing that threw me off staff came around taking pictures, but there was no explanation of why, what it was for, or if we'd even get the photos. It just felt random and honestly a bit questionable... very much "Ep.files" vibes. Service was inconsistent. A host initially came for drinks but disappeared, and our actual waiter didn't show up until about 10 minutes later. When our sodas finally arrived, they tasted watered down, which was disappointing. As for the food, pricing ranges from about $44-$70 per item, which makes sense since everything is served family-style. We ordered a kids' spaghetti and the spicy chicken rigatoni. The rigatoni had good flavor, but I wish it had more chicken. My daughter loved her meal, though, so that was a plus. Overall, it was just okay. Spending over $100 didn't feel worth it for the experience. I personally don't love being limited to large, shareable portions especially when everyone wants something different and I hate wasting food. I might give it another chance during lunch when they offer more individual portions and it's less crowded but for now, it's not really my cup of tea.

Judy the bartender was very kind and attentive! Made a pit stop before going to Fan Fest & I was so glad I did. You can't come to Buca and not order the bread! Will be back when I go to Universal again.

Really good food. I prefer it over Olive Garden; it tastes more authentic and real compared to other places where it can be obvious the food was microwaved. The place serves family-style meals, so everything you order comes as a huge portion, which is great but also can be expensive quickly if you don't watch out. Ordering that main dish with appetizers, a salad, and dessert can cost you big, and you may not even eat it all, so it is very important to look at the menu and only get what you can eat. Most small plates can feed a family of four. I and my wife with kids ordered the chicken carbonara, and between the 4 of us, we could not finish and still had leftovers to take to lunch the next day, so it is a big plate. They have a family meal promotion currently at $40 for pasta salad and breadsticks for 40 people. Remember, all family size is a lot of freaking food. We got that last time, and we had plenty left over, and I highly recommend it. My last visit was great, but for whatever reason we were put in the back with the bigger parties, and they were loud, which was odd because there were plenty of solo booths in front that were empty while there were other booths in the same area occupied. This annoyed me a bit, but overall our visit was great and service was fantastic. Loved the food!

Julio provided great service. The food was delicious and tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat at the table where we can see the chefs cooking each meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chicken fettuccine with broccoli was delicious and tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect place for a birthday party.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is alive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect place to dine before or after a movie or visiting the park.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is inside Universal Studios in Los Angeles, CA. We arrived early weekday evening and surprisingly we were seated immediately. No lines no waiting. Inside is tight & elevated noise level. Food serving portions are family style which means it's a huge serving. The food quality & taste is not what it used to be. Even the price is much higher than before. Well, it's LA and it's inside Universal Studios lot! Parking will also set you back a few dollars.

If you want amazing Italian food, this spot is already a win... BUT if you get Moisés as your host, you just unlocked VIP status We come here ALL the time--lunch, dinner, random cravings--and somehow Moisés always knows exactly what we want before we even say it That level of service? UNMATCHED. The best part... we don't just come as ourselves We pull up as: El Chavo Quico La Chilindrina And every time, Moisés plays along, makes us laugh, and turns dinner into a whole experience The food is always * Big portions (perfect for sharing) * Flavor on point every time * Comfort food that hits different after a long day But honestly... the reason we keep coming back? Moisés. He makes us feel like family, not customers. If you come here, do yourself a favor: Ask for Moisés. Trust me. We'll definitely keep coming back... whether it's lunch, dinner, or just El Chavo getting hungry again

Our fave dinner spot after a long day at Universal! As an Italian myself, this is one of my fave spots. The food is always fresh & quick service! We even ordered to go & it was ready in 15 mins. You have to try the spicy chicken rigatoni (marinara + alfredo sauce mix) , it is my fave dish & it inspired me to learn how to make it at home. My hubby loves the pepperoni pizza, they will cover it with meat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place itself is cozy and there are tons of decor on the walls to look at/appreciate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our fave italian spot, highly recommend trying. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lil secret tip ask the front to be seated in the kitchen, there is a booth back there where you can watch them cook the meals and the waiter will explain the process. So FUN![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Spicy Arrabbiata
    Justin S.

After a long day at Universal we ended our day at Buca di Beppo! It was crowded so I'm glad we were prepared with a reservation. We ordered the baked rigatoni, spicy arrabiata, and chicken Parmesan. All the portions were hefty even for the regular size. The only thing I would say needed some work was how soggy the parmigiana was. 3/5 The baked rigatoni was amply served with the sauce tasting pretty good. 3.5/5 Spicy arrabiata wouldn't be my first choice but the crust was good somewhat lacking flavor but serviceable, undercarriage needed some work. 3/5 But what made our night was the service, we had a great waiter who had our corner well attended.

    Pope head

Enjoyed the sharing (once we were able to agree on a dish) and [[HIGHLIGHT]]loved the ridiculous decor (fun photos + a Pope's head in a glass case as a table centerpiece)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The service was good but the food was bland and both desserts were so stale we didn't eat them. We are not inclined to return.

Pope Room for my daughter's birthday party!!
    Tammy L.

Celebrated my daughter's 13th birthday here. Requested for the Pope Room and we got it! We take turns between Pasadena and this City Walk location. The energy's awesome - perfect for any type of occasion. We've celebrated birthdays and graduations with Buca. It's family style and the portions are HUGE - most importantly- they've stayed consistent. Consistent with quality, taste, portions and service. (When I say we've celebrated many milestones here, I'm talking for atleast the last 15+ years and it's always awesome.) This time I decided to get 3 orders of the 4 for $49 deal that came with 3x garlic bread, salad, pasta, and entree. Plus 2 pizzas and Trio Appetizer - Enough for all 13 of us PLUS a leftover take home container for everyone. *I definitely recommend their specials when they have them- wonderful deal for half the price. 10 out of 10 for me!!

    Buca Trio Platter
    Hannah L.

After a long hot day at Universal Studios, this place hits the spot!! Around 7pm on a Wednesday mid-June, we were able to easily get a table upstairs without a reservation. Portions are HUGEEE and are def meant to be shared. Everything was tasty, especially the Eggplant Parmigiana and the Baked rigatoni. I would also get the Buca Trio Platter again for the shrimp and calamari. Pizza wasn't memorable... everything came out to $28, split between 7-ish people! Service was a wee bit slow, but the guy was friendly. It's cute that they take DSLR photos and come back with the print for sale (i think for $5 each?) at the end. Would def come back.

From my first call to restaurateur Eric to make a reservation earlier in the week, the experience was as warm and personable as can be. Within minutes of our arrival, we were greeted by co-restaurateur Antonio, and we instantly felt like family at the beautiful, private table they had thoughtfully reserved for us by the window. Our wonderful server, Jessica, made the night even brighter. We started with some Peach Puree Bellini Prosecco that was crisp, refreshing, and beyond amazing. The food arrived with impressive speed, but the quality was truly second to none. My wife absolutely loved the special of the night--a Tiger Shrimp and Asparagus Linguini--and my Angus Beef Bolognese with savory short rib ragu was easily the best I've ever had. Antonio and Jessica checked on us frequently, chatting about the day and the amazing history of the restaurant. This was NOT just a night out at a "restaurant." The trattoria had low lighting and looked like a romantic little Italian villa with Sinatra music lilting in the background. It felt much more a date night place than a business dinner. First, the wine list by the glass had excellent, very interesting and offbeat selections. The bottle selection was really superb. Then, as a starter, we shared a white bean and lobster appetizer. It tasted absolutely amazing ... and a dish that neither of us had tried before. Our very seasoned and polite waiter told us we would enjoy it. Next, he had the lobster ravioli, and I had the salmon. Both were really cooked to perfection and wowed us. Although it didn't really necessarily show up as "the best food in LA area" but all the reviews were so good so I became curious to try. Mainly the reviews also raved about the vibes, services, and live music. Well, they were not wrong! It was fairly easy to make a reservation through Opentable, and I made a reservation for two people for my birthday dinner on Sunday night. I put on the notes that it's my bday so it'll be nice to get a nice table near the stage. I didn't have a high expectation, cos I'd never been to the place and I didn't make a call or anything. But wow, they definitely gave us a great table at the very front! As many reviewers had mentioned, the acoustic of the restaurant is really great. You can barely hear other people's conversations. There's a live jazz band playing, so you can really enjoy that. Although it made it slightly hard to hear what other nearby people say to you either, haha. Our server Dawson was a really great one! Very nice, very informative and just has a great vibe that made you feel comfortable to converse with him. We also asked if he could take a picture of us and he went above and beyond with taking our pictures haha. He took the table lamp as our additional "lighting". Such a great service! Dawson also made a few suggestions on food. We ordered the milk bun (so great!), the tiger prawns tostada (omg, my favorite of the night!), braised lamb pasta, pork belly risotto, and roasted broccolini. Everything was really good and really filled us up! We also got the "smokin old fashioned" and "Wake up and repeat" cocktails. It was plenty of food for us so we asked for a check. Dawson asked if we wanted a dessert but we were already full. He asked if it's ok to give us a lil treat for my bday. It was a really nice dessert :). Oh I forgot to mention that they also put a small bday card on the table for me. The prices of food and drinks are on the higher sides, but I feel like it's worth it due to the live music and the vibe. It easily covers the entertainment part. We definitely will go back and recommend this place for anyone who's looking into a nice date night or to celebrate something special. I was informed that Friday has more of a "party vibe" here, although it's still a jazz performance. Sunday feels more laid back :) Overall I'm really pleased by this place. I used to think that I don't care that much about excellent service as long as the food is great, but I was wrong. The excellent hospitality just made the night even better than expected. Thank you for making my bday dinner memorable.

Definitely swanky but down to earth vibes. I got the rasberry beret cocktail and it was different but fabulous. Not sure how else to describe it. It was refreshing. We got the tiger prawns and it was presented as a toasta, which had a great flavor and texture. The apple salad was also refreshing and a good portion to share between 2 people. The broccolini was cooked perfectly and my favorite after the tiger prawns was the Dungeness crab pasta. It had uni on top! The uni elevated the dish, and honestly there were a good amount of crab meat in the dish. Overall well balanced and creamy. The 2 of us left full and satisfied. Highly recommend this place for a date night. There's also plenty of street parking when we went but there is also valet for $15.

The ambience was very jovial yet elegant, I felt like it should become my Argentinian getaway! We chose the special options offered and they were well thought out. I opted for the branzino lunch including a starter of an empanada, a side of rice and broccoli My friend opted for the steak with a caper sauce and with same sides. They were gracious enough to let me take my friend's empanada to go. The food was excellent as were their wine selections, my white wine was crisp, it paired nicely with the meal. My friend's Malbec was perfect with the beef. As we lingered, our server offered to "top off" our wines, I was blown away by this gesture, it alone should garner great acclaim! The dessert was excellent! I thank them for this gem!

Outside on the street there were not a lot of options since it was a beautiful valley night. I can say this was my first time trying Argentinian food and it won't be my last. They did not have cocktails which was a disappointment for me but they had a very affordable wine selection filled with, you guessed it, Malbec. They also serve beer if that is your thing. Getting to the meat of the review, I had the ribeye that was cooked to perfection. It came with three dipping sauces and I tasted one of the three and opted to forgo any sauce. It just wasn't my flavor. For the side we got the mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts with bacon. Both good neither great. Jumping to the desserts. We got the crème brûlée a trio of sorbet and a chocolate mousse. I don't eat chocolate but it was devoured by the rest of the table. The sorbets were refreshing and the brûlée was tasty. Now to what I loved. The tapas aka appetizers. Beets and burrata salad 10/10 Empanadas three ways Spinach and cheese 9/10 Beef 9/10 Chicken 9/10 Garlic shrimp 10/10 Each appetizer I thought was better than the next with the burrata probably being my favorite. A nice Toluca lake gem at a good price with many options.
