We also ordered lasagna to go for our LA native friend, and even he was raving about it, which felt like the real endorsement. The bartender was so nice too. We ended up striking up a whole conversation with him about Mexico City and LA, and he was so friendly that he sent us a dessert on the house! MA's Italian Kitchen has long been on my bookmarks, and I finally had the opportunity to visit with a friend. We were given a complimentary garlic cheese bread to start and ordered a New Haven Clam Pizza and a Fettucine Alfredo with Chicken. The garlic cheese bread was just okay; the inside wasn't too tasty, but it did look very good... I was disappointed that this didn't live up to the potential; aesthetically it looked very good with a golden brown top lightly sprinkled with cheese. The Fettucine Alfredo with Chicken is quite the staple, and it was pretty tasty - the pasta cooked to perfection. The cream sauce was also very good. The large New Haven Clam Pizza was a surprise for me; it was a combination that worked, somehow - first time for me, for sure. I wasn't sure what to think of the taste, but it was good with the balsamic sauce that was included. I finished 3 slices and packed the rest to go, disappointed that it didn't come with the unused fig sauce. We enjoyed both along the wall at a booth that was dimly lit. Overall, I wouldn't rank this is high or low but definitely could have been better, and dessert confirmed this. We had the Butterscotch Budino, and it was everything a kid would've liked - a pudding layered in a centimeter of caramel syrup. I only ate a spoonful, and the second spoon was difficult. Paying was easy once a server was flagged down, and we were able to split the bill, too. After paying, the server didn't bring the pizza that was packed away unless asked. (Maybe I should've checked for the sauce here, too, just in case...) The real damage, though, was either the pizza, the fig sauce, or the caramel syrup, because my throat was gone within the next few days. Driving back to the IE on the 210 and craving some Italian food look no further then this spot right off the highway. Located in a grocery shopping center and looking small as ever you'd think it's a probably not the best but you'd be wrong. We did not have reservations but we were greeted warmly by the host and sat in the corner for our party of 6. Now we got away with this as we had kids but honestly looking around the tables inside this is a place for parties of only 4 or so. Husband got the special of the day - pesto risotto with added salmon for protein. There was asparagus inside and fresh shaved parm. It was very good and very expensive haha! I got another special. - lobster ravioli. Only 6/7 pillows of ravioli but the lobster inside was legitimate. I did not care for the lemony/wine sauce used and would probably not order again. I wish I took a picture of the kids menu but forgot. Meals were between $8-15 and ranged from pastas with various sauces (no protein) and then one protein option of chicken cutlet with fries (legit cutlet not chicken tenders). The kids all enjoyed their food. Ed was our server. He rocked. Brought crayons and kids drawing mats out and hooked us up with two garlic knot trays while waiting for our main course (since kids get cranky when hungry). The restaurant does seem to automatically give a free butterscotch pudding g type desert to each table which was a yummy way to end the meal. Solid Italian restaurant with really good food. The complimentary garlic rolls were warm but not hot. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our meal here! The bruschetta chicken was juicy and flavorful. The pasta with it was light and delicious. The chicken parm was quite good, but the bolognese sauce was the star of the meal. This was one of our favorite meat sauces we've had in quite a while. We finished the meal with a complimentary budino that our server brought to us as first time guests. The butterscotch flavor was light and creamy, so good! It was the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. Service was very good, our primary server was on top of things and the other people helped him out as well. Manager checked on us too. Having been here several times over the past several years, I'm surprised this is my first review! Anyway, this hole-in-the-wall restaurant is an amazing find! By all accounts, you wouldn't think it's all that great figuring its location and size but believe me when I tell you, don't be fooled! The food here, as well as the service, is top notch! I don't think I've EVER had a bad meal here. One day I'm gonna work up the courage to try their pizza as many people seem to love it. I really can't find anything to complain about really other than maybe I wish they had a more spacious layout? We came back here for the fifth time, and it somehow keeps getting better every visit. The first four times we came were during COVID when they were doing al fresco dining, and even then the experience was amazing so we already knew the food was something special. This time dining in again just confirmed it. Every single item we ordered was absolutely delicious perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. You can tell there's real consistency in the kitchen, which is rare and so appreciated. They start you off with warm garlic knots, which are honestly addictive and set the tone right away. This is a great spot in Burbank for any occasion. Appetizers Bruschetta (5/5) - The tomatoes and microgreens were extremely fresh and marinated well, I definitely recommend getting 8 instead of 4 since they were so good. Calamari (3/5) - Probably the only mid part of this whole meal, it was just.. ok... Mains Chicken Milanese (5/5) - The chicken was cooked perfectly, slightly crispy outside but extremely tender and juicy inside. The arugula and lemon vinaigrette also added a nice bright flavor. Just found this small restaurant set back in a corner of a strip mall next to Von's. Read the reviews on it and really wanted to try it. I have to say I was not disappointed. We shared a Cesar salad, Mozzarella sticks, and a small pepperoni pizza. I will always try a small pizza when I go to a new Italian restaurant as I feel it shows me a lot the flavors they favor. The only negative was that the marinara sauce for the mozzarella was just ok. I do have to say that their main courses were all excellent. We had the shrimp scampi, mushroom ravioli and chicken Marsala. Highlight I felt was the mushroom ravioli. If it's your first time they let us try their signature desert which was a Carmel desert that I felt was the best. We also tried the pistachio cake and passion fruit pan a cotta. The pan-a cotta is vegan so we noted that the texture was firm. The reason I gave this place a five was due to their excellent service by all of the staff. The only thing that I thought was a bit weird was that the ravioli were fried on one side before that they were before they were thrown in the sauce. We got the medium cut steak special, which came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. It was well cooked and tender. Highlight of the meal was the white pizza. If you get anything above a very small, make sure you share it with the table. We also got the vodka pasta. It's a pretty big portion well seasoned and quite delicious. For dessert, we had a tiramisu Panna cotta and pistachio cake. The Panna cotta was definitely the best and the pistachio cake was dry. Overall, pretty good experience for my birthday. I really wanted to love this place. The reviews are amazing and we were finally able to go for lunch since dinner can be harder to get a reservation. We went pretty early so it was empty and the waiter was very nice. He explained the menu and was really helpful. The appetizer was fine (caprese) but unfortunately the main courses were not what we were hoping for. I ordered the cacio e Pepe with shrimp. The shrimp was crispy but to get that level of sear they had massively overcooked it. It was tough/ rubbery and really hard to eat. The sauce for the pasta was also pretty watery and flavorless. I never do this as I don't want to make people feel bad but I did end up sending it back. They brought out a margarita pizza instead which was also a bit weird. The middle was very soggy and there were large globs of cheese on top of another cheese layer which made the dish overwhelming. My husband had the bolognese. We ordered a large house salad to share- good for about 3-4 people. We also ordered the Chicken Piccata and Chicken Marsala, both $28 each. The chicken was JUICY and both saucy sauces were finger licking good. The piccata was lemony and the Marsala had good umami flavor with the mushrooms. It's comes with a side of olive oil/garlic pasta and it's the perfect amount of food. Best of both worlds. We were gifted a free Butterscotch BUDINO for dessert, since it was our first time here, and that was such a sweet touch. The BUDINO was GOOD. Salted caramel and custard/pudding go hand and hand. After visiting, I can see why. It likely would have been a five star review but unfortunately with nothing an advanced reservation we could only be seated in the patio. Which is covered with heaters. However, it was not the best idea for me to sit on an outside patio for a first visit. Inside looks very nice and comfortable so hopefully next time I'll have an opportunity to eat inside. Now the food. We were provided some good garlic knots. They were fresh and flavorful and easily could ruin your meal if you ate too many. I had a mixed green salad that was well dressed with a nice cheesy blue cheese dressing. It was the small stater salad but it was huge. For my entree I went with the rigatoni bolognese. It was a hearty dish with melted cheese and I really enjoyed it. Other got the chicken parm which came with two nicely sized cutlets. Also we ordered a vegan pasta dish that was devoured. Did not have high expectations and ended up finding my dream pizza to exist here. I've ALWAYS been a big hot/sweet combo girly, and when I found out they had a hot honey situation thing going on, I didn't think twice about putting in an order. This is the exact type of combination I like to have on a pizza and it's been 2 weeks now but I still think about her often. Finished with their tiramisu and it was strong but solid. You can go without it but if you're a tiramisu person like me I do think it's worth a try. My friend ended up realizing he had been to this restaurant during COVID as we got closer to the location. Definitely glad I put in a reservation online because the restaurant did get packed as the night went on. We were seated right away after telling them my name for the reservation and I wish I got our main server's name because he was very sweet and friendly (which is overwhelming for me as an introvert, but my husband loved it rofl) as we settled in and placed our order. Even the other servers that passed our table were kind and made sure we were doing okay after we put in our order and were waiting for a bit. I liked how kid friendly the restaurant was because I noticed the table next to us had a bucket of crayons for a little girl to use to draw on the table cover. The inside of the restaurant did give a bit of a romantic feel considering how dark it was in there and I definitely was having a battle with the lamp that was set up at the table since it's brightness and off switch is actually based on touching the top of the lamp and I kept getting too close to it lolz We were served their Garlic Bread first and it was so good even with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar that we dipped it in after my friend asked for a side of the sauces. Our entrees did take a bit to get to us, but you can tell why it took awhile once we started eating our main food. I did let them add cheese on the top before digging into my Mushroom Ravioli and it was actually really good. I liked how creamy the sauce was and the different flavors mixed in. I didn't end up finishing it since it was a lot between the bread and a bowl full of ravioli. So before we could pay for the check, since we had mentioned that three of the four of us were here for the first time, the owner brought out a free Butterscotch Burdino that he makes in-house for us to try. I liked how creamy it was and it wasn't too sweet, but we couldn't finish it since we were pretty full and actually craving ice cream. The owner did check on us to see how we liked the dessert and I slightly felt bad that we hadn't licked the bowl clean for him, but I think he didn't take offense. My husband stepped in to chat with him about the restaurant and to compliment him on the desert. As I was leaving, our main server asked if I needed a bag for our to-go boxes and I said yes. It took him a bit to get back to me with the bag since he kept getting held up as I stood by the entrance/exit of the restaurant that my husband came in to check on me since he, my friend, and mom had exited the restaurant already. But the owner spotted me waiting and realized I was waiting for a bag that he asked if we would like some fresh Garlic Bread to-go since we had been waiting. So I left my husband there and went to check on my friend and mom. Eventually, my husband came out with the fresh bread to go and I couldn't believe how giving the owner was amongst the free dessert and bread. MAS Italian is the kind of neighborhood spot that gets a lot right--and knows exactly what people come for. First, the garlic knot bread. Soft, fresh, cheesy, and borderline dangerous. No butter, no olive oil--completely unnecessary. These disappear before you even realize it. The pastas carry the meal. The spaghetti comes with three impressively large meatballs--pork and veal, tender to the point of almost falling apart, with Parmesan worked in so each bite has that rich, savory depth. Comforting in the best way. The rigatoni holds its own too, with sauce that actually clings instead of pooling. The only dip: the chicken piccata and veal marsala. The piccata could've used a brighter lemon lift, and the marsala felt a bit shy--the wine didn't quite step forward the way you hope. Perfectly fine, just overshadowed by stronger dishes. Food came out at a reasonable pace, but service overall felt a bit rushed. Ben did a great job introducing the dishes, though plates were cleared quickly with frequent check-ins--just enough to make you feel like you needed to speed things up. I recently dined here for the first time as part of a large group (special event). We had a smaller version of the menu to order from, with pre-chosen antipasti, then a choice for salad and entree as well as desert. I really enjoyed the Burrata Caprese with flavorful tomatoes and it was not over dressed. We also had calamari which to me lacked seasoning in the breading and was cooked to too much of a golden color. Our antipasti came out in minutes, then it was about 45 minutes before our order was taken and another long wait to get to the second course. The whole meal was almost 4 hours long on a Sunday night. I was sitting in a booth on the banquette side and it was very warm with the restaurant full. Service was friendly but the pacing was off. I understand we were a large group and hopefully this is not the typical experience. I chose the Pecorino Arugula salad and it was my favorite item of the night. It had a good amount of shaved cheese and the lemon vinagrette was delicious. It was also perfetly dressed. For entree I tried the Rigatoni Bolognese which appears to be their signature dish. The pasta was cooked well but the sauce was thin and felt watery on top of the pasta. The amount of meat was small. It did not taste like a 6 hour sauce to me - more like something I could pull together at home myself. Many on my table ordered the filet mignon and the cut of the steak did not look like filet. It was pyramid shaped and from what I heard, quite tough. For dessert, which took another half hour to come out, I tried the Butterscotch Budino and our host brought tiramisu for the group. The budino was flavored well but not as creamy and rich as I've had in the past at other locations. Overall, for the price I did not enjoy the food. Display is very tucked away into the corner of the plaza however, you can smell the deliciousness of the pasta from afar when walking towards the restaurant. There is a line already upon arrival and it was about an hour line when we came during rush-hour. However, the bar is open for a first come first served so the three of us sat on the bar with no problem. The waiter was super nice and there was daily specials that was not on the menu that they would offer in addition to the ones on the menu. Their dessert is also delicious. I would definitely come back. I had ordered the clam pasta with shrimp on the side and it was delicious. 10/10 experience! This is a cute little space! My friends brought me here for a surprise birthday meal and everything was just excellent!! The only thing is that it does get a little bit hot in there. But other than that from food, to service, to ambiance. It was five stars! I believe you have to make a reservation. Although, it would be ideal to make one because the place is pretty small. The food - My only disappointment was that I didn't order the mushroom ravioli because that dish was SO GOOD. I ordered the shrimp scampi. Honestly, when I first tried this. I gave it a 5/5 but after trying the mushroom ravioli I think I'm going to knock it down to 4.9. The Shrimp Scampi is lemony. Wasn't too much of a fan of the lemon taste after I tried the mushroom ravioli. I think you see where this is going. LOOL Lasagna - Surprisingly this was not bad. It's a little bit salty but the it goes great with the free garlic bread!! Clam linguini - This was not bad at all, but going back to the mushroom ravioli.. Nothing beats a mushroom ravioli... (if you read this in the tune of nothing beat a jet 2 holiday then ily) Butterscotch Budino - wow. No words for this. Except I do. And it's that SO GOOD. Everything just blends together so well. Came here with a large party (13) and they were amazing enough to accommodate us. Michele was amazing welcoming us. The food was amazing as always. I tried the special Lobster Ravioli, it was amazing melt in your mouth. We got seated in the patio and there were heaters which was nice. I can't wait to be back again. I booked a reservation here for 8:15 pm to celebrate a birthday. We got seated a little before 8:45 pm, however, because the group at our reserved table took longer than expected. I realized that the restaurant was small and loud when I stepped in, and most of the tables were for only two people. It was also my first time booking on Resy, and I noticed that there was a $25 cancellation or no-show fee per person. That made me want to get to the restaurant early just to be careful. The app let me type in what occasion the reservation was for. We got the fried calamari ($16), eggplant parmigiana ($22), rigatoni bolognese ($28), and frutti di mare ($32). With very flavorful dishes, the food quality here was great. I enjoyed the rigatoni bolognese. The sauce had a little creamy texture and tasted very flavorful. I'd recommend that dish if visiting. Also, note that the frutti di mare is a spicy dish as the sauce is cooked with red peppers. I thought that each bite I tried had some kick to it. We got a free dessert as well. The butterscotch budino was like a rich and sweet custard or pudding. Our server, Seth, was friendly and helpful. We noticed that one of the water glasses had a stained rim, and he brought us a replacement. Also, he helped hold the lamp while I took the picture attached to this review. Tipping (based on the bill's grand total by default) is on a portable point of sale device the server hands you.
