How have I not been here before? I've seen this restaurant and have heard good things, and finally decided to drop by for lunch. Located right in downtown Burbank, you walk in and order at the counter, you get a number, and they bring the food out to your table when ready. It's very casual, plenty of seating inside and outside. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, which is a huge deal and very rare nowadays. They even had a new happy hour special. Who doesn't love a $3 beer with lunch? As for the food, I was thoroughly impressed! Pastrami melt was amazing! Full of delicious pastrami, melted cheese, and pickles. So delicious! Fries looked like they were actual fresh made fries, not frozen, which was a nice surprise. I could also tell that they make their ranch from scratch. The bbq chicken sandwich was also delicious. Side salad was super fresh. Everything was so delicious! Portions nice; prices fair. I am impressed with Wild Carvery because I could tell that the ingredients are fresh and the quality is high. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. My first attempt was around this time last year. It was an extremely hot summer day, and I don't think the indoor A/C was working because it was incredibly hot and muggy inside. We decided not to eat in those conditions and left. I happened to be in the area this evening and decided to give it another shot. It may have just been an off day. The downtown strip had hosted a FIFA viewing event earlier, so I'm sure it had been a very busy day for Wild Carvery. Unfortunately, first impressions weren't great. There were plenty of open tables, but about half of them were dirty with food crumbs and spills that hadn't been wiped down. The woman working the counter wasn't rude, but she definitely gave off the vibe that she didn't want to be there. Our party of three ordered a pastrami melt, a chicken chipotle sandwich, and I ordered the bacon cheeseburger cooked medium. We all got fries. My burger came out well beyond medium and was completely well done. I'm not overly picky about things like that, but the burger itself was just... okay. Honestly, I've had better burgers from some fast food places. The pastrami melt got good reviews from my friend, but the chicken chipotle sandwich was underwhelming. The fries, however, were very good, and the portions were generous. After seeing Wild Carvery all over my social media feeds, I was expecting a lot more. Went here for lunch with my friend. The only good thing about this place was its great service. I didn't get the guys name but he was extremely nice, friendly, and went above and beyond delivering great service with a smile and willingness to help without any attitude. Even though that this is not a full service restaurant, we asked for sauces and he was happy to bring it even though it was placed for us to pick up at the front. I ordered the tuna wrap. It tasted ok, nothing special. It came with lots of fries. My friend ordered turkey club and she said was good but I didn't try it. The pastrami sandwich was delicious and they give a generous amount of pastrami in their sandwiches. The chips that came with it were my favorite. They were freshly fried potato chips. Super crispy and yummy. The king pastrami burger was also delicious! The flavors of the burger all blended well together and they gave a lot of pastrami as well. Hugely disappointed after hearing so many good things about their ribeye and pastrami burger. The food ended up being bland, overly salty, cold, and honestly nowhere near worth the price. We came on a weekend for brunch and they had already run out of menus at the front, so people in line were just standing there trying to figure out what to order with nothing to look at beforehand. The tables took a long time to be cleaned. Parking: Metered parking on the main street, but there's free parking at the garage near the AMC. Food: We got the Chilaquiles and Ribeye, Pastrami Burger, and two coffees, which was $72. For that price, I expected the food to have good flavor and quality. The coffee tasted super watered down, the pastrami burger was way too salty, and the fries came out cold. The ribeye was honestly the biggest disappointment. After hearing it was "the best ribeye around," I had high hopes and ordered it medium rare, excited to try it. The ribeye turned out to be a really small, thin cut of meat that was overcooked and tasted pretty cheap compared to how it's hyped up online. The chilaquiles were bland and soggy, and the beans were too. The whole meal just felt really underwhelming for the price. Service: Pretty minimal and slow. Great service can turn a frown, upside down! They offered us joining their Rewards program right away, which we did, and it then awarded us $10 off our first visit. I love a deal! With mostly indoor seating, they do have a few tables outside and it's pretty good people watching. I love wild carvery. It's probably one of my top fave lunch places in Burbank. Though sandwiches are like $18ish+, I will say their portion size is big enough to justify the cost. I usually eat only half a sandwich and take the other half home for lunch the next day. I also think their chips are delicious!!! I'm a fan of their turkey club sandwich! I enjoyed it so much, that I kept going in for more! I even dipped my fry in this often. A unreal combo! The Jambalaya Pasta was a pleasant surprise as it was my first time having it! It was a unique fusion that worked beautifully. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the spices, and the cajun-inspired sauce had just the right kick without overpowering the other ingredients. Ok ok. I have to give this to place some love. I've had a handful of friends tell me I NEED to try this place. Went to the winter wine walk and had a stop here. They had samples of chips and lobster pasta. This did not disappoint. The best chip I've ever had. They are fresh. Literally people chipping the potatoes in the back. And the lobster pasta . So good. Chatted with one of the owners, Miguel. Such a nice guy... and a LOCAL Burbank guy. He said the steak sandwich is their most popular sandwich and that's what I'm coming back to start with. The chilaquiles had a tomato flavor no seasoning whatsoever and really dry. The pastrami melt was okay. Ordered a side of fruit that cost 6.28 and paid with $20 and said they couldn't give me my change because they "don't do change" but there was no sign stating to use exact change or that they don't have change. They also have a surf and turf Burger that I will return for anyway moving on. Lastly I had a Mexican Coke and that was the only downfall as I paid more than $7 for one bottle, I guess that's the price of luxury, but I had an option not to get it and still chose to do so, they also have complimentary cups and water and will offer you ice for your cup. A spectacular first visit and meal is only as good as its hospitality, and the front-of-house team at this establishment provides an exemplary standard of care. I ordered the regular French toast with the strawberries and bananas on the side. I also ordered scrambled eggs and bacon. The French toast was so delicious nice and fluffy! From the kindness of Sam, the amazing woman at the register who helped us navigate the menu to the cool easy going yet modern layout and decor, both patio style as well as indoor. I'm truly grateful to stop in and enjoy a lunch time mini feast. A lot of the times in the past they had reduced hours or were closed like on Sunday and Mondays when I typically am in the area so I would luck out - but when bae asked where we should go to eat in Burbank it was 100% time for the Wild Carvery. Their menu is extensive, but not overwhelming with Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner time variety. W.C. has vegetarian, vegan and even gluten free options that are all highly regarded. For vegan friendly breakfast you can have at their Avocado Toast served with fresh fruit. The vegetarian options are abundant including Chilaquiles, Eggs Florentine, Egg and Cheese Omelette and French Toast (Tres Leches, Fruit topped - strawberry plus banana or Nutella). The lunch til close menu features their Organic Vegan Burger and Impossible Vegan Burger #BurgerBeatFun - but my first time in I was in a wrap style mood so I asked and they made it! They also let us know that modifications are more than okay and truly value everyone who stops in to enjoy their food #TheyListenAndTheyDontJudge Babe had the Shrimp Wrap, because he's a big seafood foodie as well as a side of small fries, but wow were they amazing in both portion and flavor. Amazing is the way I describe everything from the food to the service. It's a small little spot on San Fernando Blvd. By all of the bars and restaurants but this one stands out from all the others. My wife got the bacon burger and fries and I got the steak and eggs. Let me tell you everything was delicious. So like everyone else, I had been hearing about this place all over social media. I recently found myself in Burbank and figured what the hey, and took the trip to Wild Carvery. I went earlier in the day so there were some menu options that weren't available yet but that was fine because I already knew what I would be ordering. I went with the king pastrami burger, fries and a Mexican coke. After about a 10 min wait my food arrived and my burger was as massive as described. The burger itself is a nice sized patty and it was cooked exactly to my liking. The pastrami to me had a weird texture and not quite what I expected, not bad just not what I had in mind. The bacon was crisp and the veggies were fresh and you could taste the different flavor profiles with each bite. The fries were good and well seasoned but arrived room temperature. I'm not a stickler for sending food back unless it's really bad so I just rolled with the punches. The restaurant itself is decent sized. It they were to get crowded there may be an issue finding a table but on a normal day seating shouldn't be a problem. There is also an outside patio which I prefer when the weather is nice. Went on Saturday around 2 pm and although it was a little warm in there, we had a very pleasant experience. It's a cute over the counter place but had surprisingly sit down quality food. I ordered the Jambalaya and my boyfriend ordered Chipotle chicken sandwich. Be warned that some meals you can only order after 2 pm (like the Jambalaya). Both were incredible. HUGE portions for the price. I also got a side bowl of the clam chowder which could have been a meal on its own, especially if you add bread with it (which was ALSO extremely tasty).
