How have I not been here before? I've seen this restaurant and have heard good things, and finally decided to drop by for lunch. Located right in downtown Burbank, you walk in and order at the counter, you get a number, and they bring the food out to your table when ready. It's very casual, plenty of seating inside and outside. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, which is a huge deal and very rare nowadays. They even had a new happy hour special. Who doesn't love a $3 beer with lunch? As for the food, I was thoroughly impressed! Pastrami melt was amazing! Full of delicious pastrami, melted cheese, and pickles. So delicious! Fries looked like they were actual fresh made fries, not frozen, which was a nice surprise. I could also tell that they make their ranch from scratch. The bbq chicken sandwich was also delicious. It was an extremely hot summer day, and I don't think the indoor A/C was working because it was incredibly hot and muggy inside. We decided not to eat in those conditions and left. I happened to be in the area this evening and decided to give it another shot. It may have just been an off day. The downtown strip had hosted a FIFA viewing event earlier, so I'm sure it had been a very busy day for Wild Carvery. Unfortunately, first impressions weren't great. There were plenty of open tables, but about half of them were dirty with food crumbs and spills that hadn't been wiped down. The woman working the counter wasn't rude, but she definitely gave off the vibe that she didn't want to be there. Our party of three ordered a pastrami melt, a chicken chipotle sandwich, and I ordered the bacon cheeseburger cooked medium. We all got fries. My burger came out well beyond medium and was completely well done. I'm not overly picky about things like that, but the burger itself was just... okay. Honestly, I've had better burgers from some fast food places. The pastrami melt got good reviews from my friend, but the chicken chipotle sandwich was underwhelming. The fries, however, were very good, and the portions were generous. After seeing Wild Carvery all over my social media feeds, I was expecting a lot more. Went here for lunch with my friend. The only good thing about this place was its great service. I didn't get the guys name but he was extremely nice, friendly, and went above and beyond delivering great service with a smile and willingness to help without any attitude. Even though that this is not a full service restaurant, we asked for sauces and he was happy to bring it even though it was placed for us to pick up at the front. I ordered the tuna wrap. It tasted ok, nothing special. It came with lots of fries. My friend ordered turkey club and she said was good but I didn't try it. Hugely disappointed after hearing so many good things about their ribeye and pastrami burger. The food ended up being bland, overly salty, cold, and honestly nowhere near worth the price. We came on a weekend for brunch and they had already run out of menus at the front, so people in line were just standing there trying to figure out what to order with nothing to look at beforehand. The tables took a long time to be cleaned. Parking: Metered parking on the main street, but there's free parking at the garage near the AMC. Food: We got the Chilaquiles and Ribeye, Pastrami Burger, and two coffees, which was $72. For that price, I expected the food to have good flavor and quality. The coffee tasted super watered down, the pastrami burger was way too salty, and the fries came out cold. The ribeye was honestly the biggest disappointment. After hearing it was "the best ribeye around," I had high hopes and ordered it medium rare, excited to try it. The ribeye turned out to be a really small, thin cut of meat that was overcooked and tasted pretty cheap compared to how it's hyped up online. The chilaquiles were bland and soggy, and the beans were too. The whole meal just felt really underwhelming for the price. Service: Pretty minimal and slow. You order at the counter, grab a number, and they eventually bring the food out. Nobody checked in on us. Overall, Wild Carvery felt way overhyped from all the online reels and food posts. Went on Saturday around 2 pm and although it was a little warm in there, we had a very pleasant experience. It's a cute over the counter place but had surprisingly sit down quality food. I ordered the Jambalaya and my boyfriend ordered Chipotle chicken sandwich. Be warned that some meals you can only order after 2 pm (like the Jambalaya). Both were incredible. HUGE portions for the price. I also got a side bowl of the clam chowder which could have been a meal on its own, especially if you add bread with it (which was ALSO extremely tasty). I love wild carvery. It's probably one of my top fave lunch places in Burbank. Though sandwiches are like $18ish+, I will say their portion size is big enough to justify the cost. So like everyone else, I had been hearing about this place all over social media. I recently found myself in Burbank and figured what the hey, and took the trip to Wild Carvery. I went earlier in the day so there were some menu options that weren't available yet but that was fine because I already knew what I would be ordering. The burger itself is a nice sized patty and it was cooked exactly to my liking. The pastrami to me had a weird texture and not quite what I expected, not bad just not what I had in mind. The bacon was crisp and the veggies were fresh and you could taste the different flavor profiles with each bite. The fries were good and well seasoned but arrived room temperature. I'm not a stickler for sending food back unless it's really bad so I just rolled with the punches. The restaurant itself is decent sized. It they were to get crowded there may be an issue finding a table but on a normal day seating shouldn't be a problem. There is also an outside patio which I prefer when the weather is nice. It was absolutely perfect. The chicken was tender, not dried out in any way. The brioche bun with the bacon, BBQ sauce and tenderized chicken was an easy 10 out of 10. The homemade potato chips are also very good! My son had the BLTA, which he really enjoyed! My dad who was visiting from the Seattle area had the Turkey club with fries. Both my dad and his wife were raving about how delicious the food was. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable. You can sit indoors or outside.
