I believe this is my very first time eating at a Bob's Big Boy as an adult. I thought they had all closed down, so to be able to have a nostalgic experience there yesterday was fantastic. It was very busy because there was a Honda car event in the parking lot, but the staff were friendly and it was apparent everyone was working hard as a team. My favorite was the strawberry pie and ice cream sundae that pair perfectly with such hot weather we have been having. The burger was prepared with care, but I think it wasn't my favorite because we had the dessert first and the burger during a later sitting. The merch they sell near the check out (ranging from stickers, shirts and patches) are also fun!
This place holds a special space in my heart. It's nostalgic, it's cozy, it's a transport back in time, it's home away from home. People are super friendly.. you feel like you're coming back to to visit and taste some delicious comforting foods. Everything we had was like my mom made it at home. Everything was good!!! My favorite is the chili spaghetti and the fried chicken meals... man oh man!! *licking my fingers with a chef's kiss* Can't leave without taking a picture with Bob himself (outside) I think theyre even open 24hours for those late night craving and post party shenanigans. I last came by Bob's Big Boy (BBB) MANY years ago as a kid with my dad and decided to swing by with a friend before movie night. BBB hasn't changed in years and I LOVE that. There's a large parking lot with plenty of parking. Outside there's the Big Boy statue with people taking photos posed up next to it, limited outdoor seating, and spacious indoor seating. However, since this place is popular, don't be surprised if you end up having to sit at the bar (no wait time required)! Service is polite and fast and this was SO perfect as a once in a while pre movie binge. Root Beer Float 5/5, man I missed being a kid and ordering these omg, so fun and festive and on theme for BBB!! Big Boy Combo 5/5, a massive burger, a salad, AND fries for this price is worth it Overall; is it kitschy? Sure. Is it still great fun? Absolutely.
Always heard about this place and I had the chance to check it out. We tried the double burger, which comes with a salad. I asked for blue cheese dressing because I heard it's good. Had it with my salad and it was pretty good. I shared my burger with my kid since I'm dieting lol so I only had the top patty and the middle bun. My son had the top bun so basically he had a good burger because all of the good topping were on the bottom patty. I asked my waitress if she had a candle to put on one of their desserts so I can sing hbd to my son. They didn't have a candle but she said they can sing hbd to him. He enjoyed that and the cake I got ended up being on the house. That was nice of them to do that. On my way out I purchased some merch because you know the place is iconic. We were there on a Friday which I forgot they have a car show in their lot so we were lucky to find parking across the street. They have a car show on fridays
This place I'd say is completely average but perhaps slightly below. We walked in and were told it'd be a wait but that we could sit outside or at the bar to skip the wait and be served immediately. We went outside. We were given menus and our drinks. We wait 15 minutes and nobody served us. My friend goes to tell a server inside we are still waiting. Then another 7-8 minutes for them to get to us. The server that ended up coming over was extremely nice though and it made that slightly better. I got something which I forgot the name of, which was essentially two pancake sandwiches with hashbrowns on the side. I attached a picture. The hashbrowns were completely cold. Not warm, cold. The server traded them out which was nice. The pancakes and eggs and sausage inside were okay. Nothing special. I will not be coming back. We were 90 seconds away from leaving and probably should have anyways. The only thing that saved this was how kind the server was and I wish I had remembered her name. Norms has much better pancakes and extremely fast service.
It was pretty busy when we went in but we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks and then looked over their extensive menu. I got iced tea which had a very bad taste at the bottom of the tea, where it was much darker, but okay around the middle of the cup? Not sure if something settled- but it was not the best. I opted to NOT go with my usual (which is the classic burger) and branch out this time. I decided to try the Burbank Beef Dip, which sounded good on paper but left MUCH to be desired. It said it had "balsamic grilled onions" but they tasted very strongly of something else. It gave the entire sandwich a slightly bitter taste, yet almost sweet flavor at the same time -like a fennel taste. I really didn't care for them so I tried to take them off. The meat by itself had a very strong and off smell. Like Steakums or some kind of frozen and then microwaved beef flavor. I honestly couldn't even finish it. Bummer being $18.99. Thankfully, the fries and ranch were better. I was there for the occasion and less the meal, so I didn't make a fuss over it. All in all, lesson learned. Stick with what you know and love. I was honestly surprised at the end of this visit. Slightly disappointed and not looking forward to coming back anytime soon unfortunately.
First and foremost this place is so iconic to our So Cal culture.. The building itself with everything inside of it is fairly intact from when it was built @1949. It's an old skool diner that's open late and offers delicious meals... (Diner items) I ordered breakfast this morning .. A breakfast sandwich with a side of hash browns.. It was nothing extraordinary... However it was cooked to perfection, served piping hot and tasted like something I would have made at home.. I was solo and sat the counter, the server was very attentive and friendly! I feel the service at establishments are as equally as important as the items they serve!
Iconic!!! Came here after a full moon hike and it was sooooo good. Honestly this is an institution so I don't need to review this but I want to share my pics. Delicious diner food lol. That's it. I'd be back!!
Hi! I'm back here today with my husband, since he had never been to this location and so happy to say he enjoyed it and as for me likewise!! I came back for the pork chops and their Clam Chowder soup and Garlic toast. We were tooooo stuffed for dessert! We love the vibes here, it has that 50's feel(to me at least), and we loved the Bob's Big Boys Memorabilia they have throughout the restaurant...such a fun vibe! And last but not least...the service was FANTASTIC!! Tina our server was so nice and warm...and without even asking, she gave us additional napkins on our table. Food came on time and even the person that brought our food was very friendly and a happy person! You can tell (at least the people that helped us today) they are happy to be here.
I'm a sucker for kitschy Americana and this place was right up my alley. Service was exceptional. Our waitress was so attentive and when we only ordered one meal( Hawaiian chicken sandwich with upgrade of chili cheese fries), she asked if we were sharing and our food arrived split in two plates already without us having to ask. I also purchased a souvenir cup with a cherry coke and they made it the old fashioned fountain way. After our meal, I hit up the front for some more merch and spent a pretty penny there. I heard so many things about their chili spaghetti and their fudge cake. Unfortunately I was too full this time so I'll have to come back to try those!
3/4/26 So me and my dad met with an old co worker of ours to have lunch and catch up. When we arrived was pretty busy but not bad about 5-8min wait really was pretty quick to seated. Jana was our server and she was great. We ordered our food and I got the "Super Big Boy" combo. We all basically got Big boy combos. I hadn't had Bob's in quite a while. It was pretty good. I remember it being a little better the last time I had had but it didn't disappoint. It was still delicious and good fries. Got a Mocha shake that was really nice and creamy and great mocha flavor. All in all we really enjoyed our food and company. I'm sure I will visit again sometime when back down this way . We used to come almost Friday night for classic car show they had in the lot and get burgers and see all the cars hence the pic from back in the day. I think they still do the car show. Enjoy !!!!
Well, Bob's has outdone itself yet again! I just can't get over the fast & friendly service & the FOOD is so yummy...SO good, in fact, that I returned a mere two days after my last visit to reorder the pastrami burger (which is actually enough for two people) & the chocolate milkshake...complete with whipped cream & a cherry on top, of course! And during my last visit, I got to check out the weekly classic car show! My only complaint for the second time I ordered the pastrami burger is that there definitely wasn't the 3 oz. of pastrami as the menu describes & there was barely any mozzarella cheese...not even a full slice. Yes, the restaurant was busy but the food preparation should be consistent.
Friday morning breakfast. Great place with lots of history, Bob's and Burbank. Service was attentive, my coffee cup was never empty. Fabulous waffle with warm syrup and ham steak.

Who doesn't love Bob's big boy! An all American restaurant that has 60s and 70s nostalgia. I love the famous big boy cheeseburger! And let's not forget the hot fudge cake! It's always fun going there because people are always in a good mood and it's exciting atmosphere. The staff are always there to help you and they also have a really great breakfast. I love coming to Bob's Big Boy and having diner food on the patio on a warm summer night! My hubby and I came here for dinner tonight and shared a chili size with spaghetti and a chicken fried steak dinner. We had chocolate Cokes and cherry Cokes! We had salads and garlic toast, and corn and hashbrowns. It was an absolute Bob's Big Boy feast. We brought our pug with us, and he was completely overwhelmed by the feasting. Our server, Nathalie, was the best server ever. She was so incredibly sweet and attentive! She brought us everything and thought of everything. What an amazingly great server! Three cheers for Nathalie! She made our night fantastic. We ended the evening singing along to Elvis singing It's Now or Never and Ozzy Osborne singing Crazy Train. These are the moments in life that you just want to savor and remember as really fun times, when your belly is full, your mind is easy, your mood is light, and the night is breezy. read more

Though I've lived in Los Angeles nearly 40 years, I've only been to Bob's a handful of times. After quite a few years, today was one of those times, and I'm really glad I decided to grab lunch at this legendary foodie fixture in Burbank. You can't beat the atmosphere; that mid-century modern design, the orange decor, the counter service and plush booths, all lovingly kept clean and shiny. The staff is uniformly friendly, and they work fast. Orders are taken quickly and the food arrives in little more than 5 minutes. These folks have been doing this a very long time, and their experience is our good fortune. I ordered the Original Big Boy Combo, because how could I not? The combo includes their Original Big Boy Burger, fries or fruit, and a salad to start. I declined the salad, as it's a very good sized portion and I knew I wasn't hungry enough to eat it all. But the folks next to me were enjoying their salads quite a bit, and they really did look very fresh and good. The namesake Big Boy is that double-stacked burger on a 3-piece bun that predates the Big Mac, and outpaces McDonald's pale imposter by leaps and bounds. Two fresh beef patties are paired with American cheese, lettuce, a touch of mayo and a nice slather of Bob's red burger relish, which adds a nice tang without having that overpowering flavor of cheap pickles. Additionally, that relish combines nicely with the mayo to create a whisper of the Thousand Island Dressing taste without the overly thick consistency of the now very ubiquitous "burger sauce" that's everywhere. This is a good, hearty burger that really satisfies, while the fries came hot, nicely salted and appropriately crisp. Now let's talk prices. This combo, which is a very generous portion of food (especially if you also eat the included salad), with a soda and tax came out to about $19.49. Around $5 more than the Big Mac combo at McDonald's -- but a far superior meal, with fresh flavors, good quality ingredients, a relaxing environment, and a friendly staff. BOB'S BIG BOY IS STILL BIG ======================= Another oldie, but goodie diner is still going strong. Our good friends invited us to meet them for dinner on Sunday, November 16, 2025. My husband and I had not been to Bob's Big Boy in ages, so it was nice to go there again. The Yelper that I am decided to peruse all the Yelp reviews, photos and menu. The photos and a lot of the reviews really don't do it justice, but I do recommend looking at them. Some Yelp friends have written some great reviews and have included photos and I always appreciate that. After looking at the menu and the evening being a bit rainy and cool I definitely wanted to order something warm. I decided to order the open face turkey sandwich. It came with a crisp side dinner salad and that was very good. I was really happy with the turkey as well and requested all white meat which I got. The mashed potatoes, gravy and beets were delicious as well. My husband loved their chicken fried steak, so that was good. If he doesn't like the food he will never go back. Luckily we can go back again. One of our friends ordered the veggie melt and her husband ordered their famous double decker burger. They go there quite often, so they have ordered those before and they like them. We were all pretty stuffed after eating dinner, but my husband ordered the hot fudge chocolate sundae. I didn't try that, but it looked good. Our friend ordered the Bob's famous hot fudge cake. I took a bite and that was good. Watch out for your clothes with that one. The next time I would like to go on a Friday night to check out the cars. read more

Always nostalgic and fun- outdoor pet friendly seating- good sized counter seating inside - large free parking lot- can't go wrong with the fried chicken, burgers or the shakes. Friendly servers. Accommodated grandson's birthday dinner and were fine with us bringing our own cake to celebrate. Kids enjoyed looking at all the fun merchandise some collectors items some for sale. read more
I really like this place. It's an old school feeling attraction almost out of a movie. Ironically very close to universal studios hollywood. Workers are so nice and the vibes are great. Good tasted very quality for a diner. I got the old fashioned steak and eggs and it did not disappoint. You can go for a family breakfast all the way to a causal business breakfast. This place is not around on the East Coast anymore( they closed them), or so I've not seen one since I was a kid! Walking into this place was nostalgic! The menu still has the square chocolate cake with the vanilla ice cream in the middle! My spaghetti was still the same as I can remember, so good! The waitress was a bit busy; however, she stayed the course in making sure our food order was placed and came out on time without delay. It's old pictures hanging and just feels like the 70s, lol. The best Patty melt and the best milkshake I've ever had. I mean, it's gotta be, it's an iconic diner! Service was quick. There was a wait, but we opted for the first-come, first-served bar area. The ambiance was abdundaunt. Packed on a Saturday at 5 pm, fun, loud, and nostalgic. read more

After an unsuccessful evening trying to find dinner for a party of four on a Saturday night without reservations, Bob's Big Boy came through for us. Despite being very busy, we only waited about 10-15 minutes to get seated, which honestly felt like a win. Inside, you get classic old-school diner vibes, which adds to the charm. Every employee we interacted with was friendly and welcoming, especially our waitress, who was awesome and helped make the experience a positive one. We ordered the sirloin, chili spaghetti, and a club sandwich. Everything was good--solid and satisfying--but not anything I'd call amazing or standout. That said, the overall experience made up for it. Where Bob's Big Boy shines is value. Many entrées come with a salad and an additional side, which felt like a great deal. Considering this is Southern California, I was expecting to pay much more for what we got, but the pricing was fair. Overall, this is a high-value, reliable option with great service, especially when you need a place that can accommodate you without reservations. I'd definitely come back. read more

If you just landed at the Burbank airport late at night, head straight to Bob's Big Boy. They're open, they're solid, and they're exactly what you need after a flight. This is famously where David Lynch used to eat, and honestly, once you're inside, you can feel why. The whole place has this timeless, slightly surreal, comforting diner energy. It's a vibe--not forced, not curated--just authentic. The crowd is always chill here. No jerks, no chaos. People are here because they want to be here. Even if you don't have any nostalgia for Bob's Big Boy, sitting in a booth with a burger or a milkshake somehow gives you that nostalgic feeling anyway. It's classic, it's reliable, and it always just hits right. read more
This is a diner and it looks fantastic after all of these years they keep the same menu and provide consistently good food with great service. Breakfast is what they do best but any meal is good. They host some car shows from time to time and have great weekly specials so be sure to check that out. read more

I've always known what Big Boys was thanks to the iconic "giant boy holding a burger with nice hair" mascot this company is known for, however I grew up in areas where these did not exist. A friend from the East Coast was in town visiting last week and wanted to come to Bob's Big Boy in Burbank, so for the first time in my life, it was on. We arrived at almost midnight on a Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed. I would of preferred sleeping, but instead I was seated at a big round bench table and handed a menu. The menu here is as "diner" as you can get with all sorts of appetizers, deserts, and entrees that make you drool just a little bit (I'm a sucker for this kind of place). I decided to order a vanilla milkshake on the side and the Fried Chicken dinner with corn, mashed potatoes, and sausage gravy poured on the top. The food came out pretty quickly and was served nice and hot, which was nice since I needed to burn my mouth just a little bit just to stay up this late. The mashed potatoes and sausage gravy? Really good. The corn? well, it's corn, so it's fine. The Fried Chicken itself was really freaking good. The meat was really juicy and the breading was great as well, making for some delicious fried chicken. Overall, Bob's Big Boy might not be something special to the world, but it certainly was a great experience for me. The restaurant itself is fun to be inside of, the waitress we had was fantastic, and the food was really good. I will absolutely be back here in the future to try some more things, did someone mention a burger? read more

I haven't had a Bob's burger in decades. I was soooo ready... The waffles EXCELLENT!! 10/10 Pappy Parker's fried chicken 1/10 Bob's classic burger 5/10 The waffles were sooo good. The fried chicken was over cooked, dried out, poor quality chicken pieces, uncooked dough under the skin. It was bad. The Bob's burger was nothing like I remembered. Dry, chewy, too much bread. The salads were fresh and good with nothing but lettuce, cucumbers, shredded cheese, croutons and dressing. I'm so disappointed read more
It's always a wonderful experience! We visit our favorite server, Janelle. Everyone is always wonderful! This is our spot for the home cooked, chill vibe. They always play great music and smiling faces every time we visit. I do have one suggestion regarding pie purchases - please buy containers that can fit the pie comfortably. Last year, we bought 4 strawberry pies for a family event and once we got to the car to load them in, one of the pies fell out of the container and right onto the asphalt. We didn't have time to grab another one so we just took the loss because we had to drive a couple of hours away and was running late. This year we bought a couple for an event and they were packaged in the largest take-away container they had and taped it shut. This ruins the crust as it's in the grooves of the container and breaks off when it's taped. I will never stop buying them because I know there is no one else around that makes them this delicious and fresh. Just a suggestion! Other than that, we love Bob's Big Boy! read more

As always it's fun to come here. Food is the same so you can get your favorite burger or spaghetti chili. I was pleasantly surprised that they have fresh salads on the menu also. You can sign up for their email for 10 percent off, or ask for a senior discount if applicable. It's always busy here and there is a great staff. Fun car show on Fridays. read more
My family and I had not been here in years and our recent visit left us wondering why have we not returned? The location provides one with a feeling of nostalgia as they have many of the original toys, pictures and other items dating back to the 1950's in display throughout the entire restaurant and this place is HUGE!! The restaurant has an older feel to it but that's what's gives it that feeling of going back in time. The service here was GREAT! By everyone we came in contact with during our recent visit. Bob's Big Boy has been on my LA-area bucket list ever since I learned that director David Lynch used to frequent it. The restaurant did not disappoint. Classic diner vibes. Large portions and friendly staff. I was thrilled to be offered avocado on my breakfast sandwich instead of a meat, and at no extra charge! Restaurant was packed at 11:30 AM on a Wednesday with what seemed like a mix of regulars and tourists. Handicapped parking is available. Bathroom is fully accessible-there's even a push button to open the main bathroom door. Does the waiters/waitresses have tip pooling or tip sharing (ie the tips gets placed into a big pot and the total is divided amongst the staff)?
As far as I know, we have to add tips on our bills if we like to.
Does the Burbank location have a breakfast buffet?
No buffet, but they serve breakfast all day!
Are there any vegan options?
It's Bob's Big Boy Hamburger. When in Rome you don't order Chinese. There are plenty of vegan places here in LA and Orange County. Bob's does what they do, and they do it well. If you're a herbivore, I would not go to Bob's.
Open on thanksgiving?
You should check their website and/or call them directly. Businesses do not check the Yelp pages for their place.

Yes they have! I went there earlier this week. They seat you at every other table for social distancing. When we ent is was a weekday so there was no line. I suspect weekends might have a line to get in.
Do they have gluten free bun options for their sandwiches or burgers?
