We love coming here on Fridays! The vintage car show is so much fun! We usually get burgers or a tuna melt which are both delicious. Their salad with their blue cheese dressing is a MUST TRY. Tonight we came for dessert and I love their berry pies with whip cream. You can also get ice cream with your pie. If you ask your server they will tell you what they have available. My boyfriend got the Bobs famous hot fudge cake. It was so yummy and almost tastes cozy with the warm cake and hot fudge but a delicious twist with the vanilla ice cream. Milkshakes are yummy too. We ordered chicken strips and onion rings as appetizers. They were both great and so crispy. Service is always great even though it's always busy on Fridays nights. There is plenty of parking. I love their decor it takes you back to the past, super nostalgic. Even with the 10-15 minute waits at most peak hours (like this was 5:30pm on a Sunday) Bob's scoots people through quickly and efficiently to this day. If I'm in a carb mood, the Big Boy double special combo is still amazing. But today was one of those Chili Size days and I still love Bob's can serve a medium-rare patty buried beneath all that chili, cheese and onions goodness! Even when super busy the layout allows calm conversations and doesn't seem to get super loud like the nearby bars and gastropubs. They've been here for decades and always been top notch for a great Americana experience. Fridays are still car show off nights, and super packed but arrive early and seating will still be timely (but you may spend an hour gazing at all the gorgeous metal parked outside. I love coming to Bob's Big Boy and having diner food on the patio on a warm summer night! My hubby and I came here for dinner tonight and shared a chili size with spaghetti and a chicken fried steak dinner. We had chocolate Cokes and cherry Cokes! We had salads and garlic toast, and corn and hashbrowns. It was an absolute Bob's Big Boy feast. We brought our pug with us, and he was completely overwhelmed by the feasting. Our server, Nathalie, was the best server ever. She was so incredibly sweet and attentive! She brought us everything and thought of everything. What an amazingly great server! I got the blue cheese burger and upgraded the fries to chili cheese fries. Absolutely iconic meal. The chili is my new favorite. Savory and salty and meaty with a good bean echo. Not smoky or spicy or earthy. I asked for the fries well done and they came crispy! The blue cheese burger was good! They didn't skimp on the blue cheese and the patty was fresh. I last came by Bob's Big Boy (BBB) MANY years ago as a kid with my dad and decided to swing by with a friend before movie night. BBB hasn't changed in years and I LOVE that. There's a large parking lot with plenty of parking. Outside there's the Big Boy statue with people taking photos posed up next to it, limited outdoor seating, and spacious indoor seating. However, since this place is popular, don't be surprised if you end up having to sit at the bar (no wait time required)! Service is polite and fast and this was SO perfect as a once in a while pre movie binge. I believe this is my very first time eating at a Bob's Big Boy as an adult. I thought they had all closed down, so to be able to have a nostalgic experience there yesterday was fantastic. It was very busy because there was a Honda car event in the parking lot, but the staff were friendly and it was apparent everyone was working hard as a team. My favorite was the strawberry pie and ice cream sundae that pair perfectly with such hot weather we have been having. The burger was prepared with care, but I think it wasn't my favorite because we had the dessert first and the burger during a later sitting. First and foremost this place is so iconic to our So Cal culture.. The building itself with everything inside of it is fairly intact from when it was built @1949. It's an old skool diner that's open late and offers delicious meals... (Diner items) I ordered breakfast this morning .. A breakfast sandwich with a side of hash browns.. 3/4/26 So me and my dad met with an old co worker of ours to have lunch and catch up. When we arrived was pretty busy but not bad about 5-8min wait really was pretty quick to seated. Jana was our server and she was great. We ordered our food and I got the "Super Big Boy" combo. We all basically got Big boy combos. I hadn't had Bob's in quite a while. It was pretty good. I remember it being a little better the last time I had had but it didn't disappoint. It was still delicious and good fries. Got a Mocha shake that was really nice and creamy and great mocha flavor. All in all we really enjoyed our food and company. I'm sure I will visit again sometime when back down this way . It was pretty busy when we went in but we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks and then looked over their extensive menu. I got iced tea which had a very bad taste at the bottom of the tea, where it was much darker, but okay around the middle of the cup? Not sure if something settled- but it was not the best. I opted to NOT go with my usual (which is the classic burger) and branch out this time. I decided to try the Burbank Beef Dip, which sounded good on paper but left MUCH to be desired. It said it had "balsamic grilled onions" but they tasted very strongly of something else. It gave the entire sandwich a slightly bitter taste, yet almost sweet flavor at the same time -like a fennel taste. I really didn't care for them so I tried to take them off. The meat by itself had a very strong and off smell. Like Steakums or some kind of frozen and then microwaved beef flavor. I honestly couldn't even finish it. Bummer being $18.99. Thankfully, the fries and ranch were better. I was there for the occasion and less the meal, so I didn't make a fuss over it. All in all, lesson learned. Stick with what you know and love. I was honestly surprised at the end of this visit. Slightly disappointed and not looking forward to coming back anytime soon unfortunately. read more

I came back for the pork chops and their Clam Chowder soup and Garlic toast. We were tooooo stuffed for dessert! We love the vibes here, it has that 50's feel(to me at least), and we loved the Bob's Big Boys Memorabilia they have throughout the restaurant...such a fun vibe! I've been coming here my whole life. However, today stood out more than ever all thanks to the absolutely excellent service provided by Armen and Gencer at today's lunch shift. Even in the hustle and bustle of a completely packed full house, there was a peaceful calm knowing we were well taken care. I always frequent this place on special occasions and today just felt like it was even more special. Every bite of food Harkens back to childhood nostalgia. I just can't get over the fast & friendly service & the FOOD is so yummy...SO good, in fact, that I returned a mere two days after my last visit to reorder the pastrami burger (which is actually enough for two people) & the chocolate milkshake...complete with whipped cream & a cherry on top, of course! And during my last visit, I got to check out the weekly classic car show! My only complaint for the second time I ordered the pastrami burger is that there definitely wasn't the 3 oz. of pastrami as the menu describes & there was barely any mozzarella cheese...not even a full slice. Though I've lived in Los Angeles nearly 40 years, I've only been to Bob's a handful of times. After quite a few years, today was one of those times, and I'm really glad I decided to grab lunch at this legendary foodie fixture in Burbank. You can't beat the atmosphere; that mid-century modern design, the orange decor, the counter service and plush booths, all lovingly kept clean and shiny. The staff is uniformly friendly, and they work fast. Orders are taken quickly and the food arrives in little more than 5 minutes. These folks have been doing this a very long time, and their experience is our good fortune. I ordered the Original Big Boy Combo, because how could I not? The combo includes their Original Big Boy Burger, fries or fruit, and a salad to start. I declined the salad, as it's a very good sized portion and I knew I wasn't hungry enough to eat it all. But the folks next to me were enjoying their salads quite a bit, and they really did look very fresh and good. The namesake Big Boy is that double-stacked burger on a 3-piece bun that predates the Big Mac, and outpaces McDonald's pale imposter by leaps and bounds. Two fresh beef patties are paired with American cheese, lettuce, a touch of mayo and a nice slather of Bob's red burger relish, which adds a nice tang without having that overpowering flavor of cheap pickles. Additionally, that relish combines nicely with the mayo to create a whisper of the Thousand Island Dressing taste without the overly thick consistency of the now very ubiquitous "burger sauce" that's everywhere. This is a good, hearty burger that really satisfies, while the fries came hot, nicely salted and appropriately crisp. Now let's talk prices. This combo, which is a very generous portion of food (especially if you also eat the included salad), with a soda and tax came out to about $19.49. Around $5 more than the Big Mac combo at McDonald's -- but a far superior meal, with fresh flavors, good quality ingredients, a relaxing environment, and a friendly staff. The photos and a lot of the reviews really don't do it justice, but I do recommend looking at them. Some Yelp friends have written some great reviews and have included photos and I always appreciate that. After looking at the menu and the evening being a bit rainy and cool I definitely wanted to order something warm. I decided to order the open face turkey sandwich. It came with a crisp side dinner salad and that was very good. I was really happy with the turkey as well and requested all white meat which I got. The mashed potatoes, gravy and beets were delicious as well. My husband loved their chicken fried steak, so that was good. If he doesn't like the food he will never go back. Luckily we can go back again. One of our friends ordered the veggie melt and her husband ordered their famous double decker burger. They go there quite often, so they have ordered those before and they like them. We were all pretty stuffed after eating dinner, but my husband ordered the hot fudge chocolate sundae. Always heard about this place and I had the chance to check it out. We tried the double burger, which comes with a salad. I asked for blue cheese dressing because I heard it's good. Had it with my salad and it was pretty good. I shared my burger with my kid since I'm dieting lol so I only had the top patty and the middle bun. My son had the top bun so basically he had a good burger because all of the good topping were on the bottom patty. This place I'd say is completely average but perhaps slightly below. We walked in and were told it'd be a wait but that we could sit outside or at the bar to skip the wait and be served immediately. We went outside. We were given menus and our drinks. We wait 15 minutes and nobody served us. My friend goes to tell a server inside we are still waiting. Then another 7-8 minutes for them to get to us. The server that ended up coming over was extremely nice though and it made that slightly better. I got something which I forgot the name of, which was essentially two pancake sandwiches with hashbrowns on the side. I attached a picture. The hashbrowns were completely cold. Not warm, cold. The server traded them out which was nice. The pancakes and eggs and sausage inside were okay. Nothing special. I will not be coming back. We were 90 seconds away from leaving and probably should have anyways. The only thing that saved this was how kind the server was and I wish I had remembered her name. This place is not around on the East Coast anymore( they closed them), or so I've not seen one since I was a kid! Walking into this place was nostalgic! The menu still has the square chocolate cake with the vanilla ice cream in the middle! My spaghetti was still the same as I can remember, so good! I've always known what Big Boys was thanks to the iconic "giant boy holding a burger with nice hair" mascot this company is known for, however I grew up in areas where these did not exist. A friend from the East Coast was in town visiting last week and wanted to come to Bob's Big Boy in Burbank, so for the first time in my life, it was on. We arrived at almost midnight on a Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed. I would of preferred sleeping, but instead I was seated at a big round bench table and handed a menu. The menu here is as "diner" as you can get with all sorts of appetizers, deserts, and entrees that make you drool just a little bit (I'm a sucker for this kind of place). I decided to order a vanilla milkshake on the side and the Fried Chicken dinner with corn, mashed potatoes, and sausage gravy poured on the top. The food came out pretty quickly and was served nice and hot, which was nice since I needed to burn my mouth just a little bit just to stay up this late. The mashed potatoes and sausage gravy? Really good. The corn? well, it's corn, so it's fine. The Fried Chicken itself was really freaking good. The meat was really juicy and the breading was great as well, making for some delicious fried chicken. Overall, Bob's Big Boy might not be something special to the world, but it certainly was a great experience for me. It's always a wonderful experience! We visit our favorite server, Janelle. Everyone is always wonderful! This is our spot for the home cooked, chill vibe. They always play great music and smiling faces every time we visit. I do have one suggestion regarding pie purchases - please buy containers that can fit the pie comfortably. Last year, we bought 4 strawberry pies for a family event and once we got to the car to load them in, one of the pies fell out of the container and right onto the asphalt. We didn't have time to grab another one so we just took the loss because we had to drive a couple of hours away and was running late. This year we bought a couple for an event and they were packaged in the largest take-away container they had and taped it shut. This ruins the crust as it's in the grooves of the container and breaks off when it's taped.
